You are so welcome! Isn't it a great technique? So simple and so effective! It really keeps the face of the fabric so clean too and maintains elasticity. Win, win!!! ❤

Thank you Beth for this in-depth analysis of knitting design! I loved your presentation and appreciate all the preparation that you did to present the information…so glad we can watch it over and over again. I want to knit all your designs they are so beautiful. What is your favorite part of this process and what is your most desired stitch pattern? I am working on a mosaic shawl pattern called co-zzy shawl from a Dutch magazine I tend to gravitate toward simple esthetics and design. All the best💕

Thank you! So glad you are enjoying the series! Gosh, my most desired stitch pattern... I dont know! Mosaic is amazing and I am currently rather enamored with that. So yes, for right now, I think that's the one! I'll try to look up the co-zzy shawl online - always intrigued! Thanks for watching!

I love, love, love the tulip tunic sweater and love the idea of a random stripe. What I really love ( how many times can I say love) is that you are going to include where and how long for the lbj. I have been wanting to try it but where to put and for how long has been holding me back. I’m excited to try it plus I get to knit this lovely sweater! I wish more designers would do this. Great podcast. Can’t wait for this sweater to be released.

You are so welcome! Yes, ladder back jacquard is AMAZING! I have a few designs that use them and both upcoming designs (The Bermudiana and Tulip Tunic) will show exactly where to place them in the chart, as well as where and when to catch floats. Both coming out this Spring. Thanks for watching and the great feedback

I am not a designer, nor do I think I’ll become one. I still find this series fascinating. I enjoy knowing what your process is.
I do take pictures that inspire me for knitting. I think someday I’ll show them to a designer and have them do something with them. 😅
Your passion for design comes through these talks. Recording near your knits is convenient as you can easily pull an example out. I love seeing the examples.

Yay! Hope you enjoy that knit! I'm not a huge snake person either. We don't have any in Bermuda and that's A-OK with me! I was thinking, I wonder if that sand sculpture was in honor of the Chinese New Year? Isn't this the year of the snake? Must look that up ... Thanks for watching!

Someday, when I’m a big girl knitter, I will want to create my own design and pattern for a sweater. Yours is the master class I will refer to. Thank you very, very much, Beth! I know this vlog took a lot of time and thought on your part and I very much appreciate it. I don’t think there are many designers who would be willing to bring us inter their “Inner sanctum,” as you have.

Understand how you feel about the chest colds, I get bronchitis easily and usually stays with me for 3-4 weeks and then I still have a cough for a couple more weeks after that. Hope your family starts feeling better soon! I just got over bronchitis myself and finally stopped my cough about a week ago.
Enjoyed your knit wear design podcast.

Every time I see your pink and red Tamarind sweater, the shapes and color combination remind me of a book for making Christmas decorations from the 1960s (I can't remember the name off the top of my head) and I love it! I know that wasn't your original intent, but I hope to knit one like it someday because I think it would be perfect to wear during my favorite holiday. 😊
Thank you for doing the segments on how you go from inspiration to actual project creation. I'm a homeschool mom and, while I've explained some of these concepts to my kids so they can make their ideas actionable, I think it will be good for them to hear from someone else as well (as a reinforcement). Plus, it's really interesting to hear all the ancillary info you give while you're talking about your process. ❤

The design journey has been fab Beth. I'd love to design a pattern. It's just so daunting making a start. Many years ago I worked for a handknitting company writing patterns and editing however someone else designed. Anyway thanks again 😊

No way do I EVER wnat to be a knitwear designer I'm going to leave that up to you greats. But these podcast are very informative to what I want to knit and wear. What my style is. What goes in my wardrobe. What yarns I want to use. Thank you for this.

Thanks for all the thought you've put into this designing series; it's fascinating and interesting to know all the things you think about and what inspires you. I'm just finishing up Sari's Billie pullover and dreaming of summer knits, and when you showed Hanging Leaves, I swooned. Do you think it would be too compromised if I didn't use reverse stockinette for the body? Also, I'm waiting patiently for your Get Out of the Pool pattern for a summer knit....love that loose beauty. And, Luna's barking is never a bother; any appearance by her, visually or aurally, is a delight.

    • @bethmacdonaldstone
      @bethmacdonaldstone  2 дні тому

I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying this series, and I love your thinking about the Hanging Leaves pattern! My concern with not using a reverse stockinette st for the body is that you might loose the detail of the lace. Worth trying? Do remember though that once you get past the chart, you dont work in purl sts but turn the garment inside out to knit the rest (just on the inside). So much easier! Keep me posted!

Horseshoe beach is beautiful and that snake sand sculpture is amazing. But can I make a request? I find the font you're using for captions _really_ hard to read. The fact that an "s" descends below the text line and looks like a "y" is an example.
