@Faith I disagree. Lucien is like the Zuko of ACOTAR, he’s too loyal to step out of line. 😂 Also, Tamlin would’ve recovered fast from the lashes cause he’s fae, (even high fae) and favored by Amarantha.
CAN WE TALK ABOUT LUCIEN?? That man had my heart from the beginning! An intuitive, clever, loyal character is just my type and I loved him to the core. I love his wittiness and devotion and I'm really wondering which of her sisters he'll end up with (because at this point it just makes sense). I'm leaning more towards Nesta? He needs someone to fire back at him and Nedra's there for that. But I could also see him with the middle sister, too. Maybe he needs someone who gives him peace, I don't know. But other than Rhys, he's definitely my favorite character (I have a thing for clever men haha).
+vickeydisneyqueen I was screaming at her throughout the whole second half of the book! Honestly, Feyre can be stupid sometimes...I still love her though
ikr!!! i was like its love isn't it but then i was like thats waaayyyy to easy and predictable, but it was and i was like why didnt she even think about love?
I really love the courting Tamlin did, reading dirty poems to Feyre, playing songs, dancing, looking at her paintings and knowing what she was conveying. Their relationship was so authentic to me and i also appreciated the fact that she didn't like him immediately. Tamlin slowly earned her trust. My biggest problems with Rhys are that he was awful to her until he needed her to win the game. Because let's face it he hated the situation he was in and Feyre was the only one capable of helping. He humiliated her on multiple occasions and to me that says a lot about him. Maybe later he'll be a "bad" guy turned good but as of right now I am hoping they become good friends or something.
I was so pissed about the riddle! The solution was SOOO incredibly obvious to me, like the second Amarantha recited it I was like, "duh you moron, it's love." And Feyre was so dumb about it!!! UGH SO ANNOYING
But hey, you have to think like Feyre. She had never felt love in her life before. She never had the experience of falling in love until Tamlin came along and yet she struggled to understand what those feelings were because she had never felt them before. We knew, or some of us, what the answer was since we live in this world that is waaaaaay more peaceful than the world in the book. You get me? Like, ACOTAR is based on a world where it's hard to live and there are cruel faries that will kill you and it's just a hard world so it's understandable why Feyre wouldn't know the answer to the riddle right away, you know?
SPOILERS!! Okay so like you know how Rhysand is shocked at the end when he sees Feyre? And do you remember that at the beginning Lucien said something along the lines of when a fae sees their mate they see it in their mates faces? Well I have this theory that Rhysand and Feyre are mates because she's not human anymore, so it would work. I don't even know.
I'm awful with it as well to the point were I was reading the hunger games and thought peeta was pronounced pita and since he's a baker I thought it was Suzanne Collins trying to be funny
While I was reading the book I came across this awesome sentence: "She drew out the two syllables of my name - fay-ruh - into the most hideous whine I'd ever endured." and I was like OMIGOSH DID SHE JUST. But it was good, I mean at first I thought her name was pronounced 'Fay-r' or something like that... idek anymore
I enjoyed this book. I really liked the part where they had an art date. I really enjoyed reading the task scenes like her trying to figure out a riddle that Amarantha told her. It was interesting to read.
I love Tamlin and I'm worried this is going to be another Warner/Adam case where in the first book we see only the rough part of Rhysand through Feyre's eyes and then in the next book you can't even believe why you didn't ship Rhysand and Feyre in the first place :D I'm worried but also excited! I usually hate love triangles but if the characters are interesting it doesn't bother me that much.
+Dorry G Oh yes definitely!! Some people have problem with it, but I say give it a chance and go with the flow. The character development, the world building and the plot are 10 times better than ACOTAR..it's definitely one of my favorite books of 2016!
I LITERALLY JUST FINISHED THIS BOOK NOT FIVE MINUTES AGO. Timing is on my side. Couldn't agree more; I'm leaning towards Tamlin, but I can be swayed, both characters are awesome. And maybe I have to re read the part, but can someone explain to me the whole imprinting idea she mentioned? With Lucian and that mortal girl? And then Rhys at the end?
Shmoo Figjam In the last chapter when Rhysand leaves, there's this point where he stumbles and stares at Feyre weirdly. A lot of people are assuming the mating bond kicked in between them. I'm really REALLY hoping that's not the case but . . . it could have
Yeah, I remember that but I honestly did not get that impression upon reading it. It's pretty flimsy evidence to go by, and yeah, I don't know how I feel about a mating bond between them both. Renders the 'love' between her and Tamlin null and void really...
Tamlin very briefly describes somewhere in the book. Pretty much it's where the faeries meet their mate. It's implied that Rhysand mates with Feyre at the very end. I really hope that's not the case though :(
YESSSS ABOUT RHYSAND YESSSSS. ALL OF THAT. YES. Like he's an interesting character but I can't ship them because he's still terrible? I don't care if you don't take sides as long as you aren't full on Rhysand. ALSO SOME SPOILZ. And I can see the whole thing with Tamlin sending her away being frustrating, but I think he was just assuming she wasn't going to say she loved him in the last three days because Rhysand said as much when he pried into her mind. So he was just assuming she wasn't going to? IDK.
No. I loved Rhysand from the very first moment he was introduced. I was a bit upset about him being "Amarantha's whore," but he's so sexy and mysterious. Also, sadists are wonderful (don't judge me. Just think of how badass they would be as a [protective] boyfriend).
I'm really late in the game, but I just finished reading the book, and I think that if somehow Feyre ends up with Rhysand, the first book would have been completely for nothing. Like, she did all that because she loved Tamlin and all of the sudden she falls in love with someone else... eh, it's kind of ridiculous
Well, like Amarantha said, "typical human trash with their inconstant, dull hearts" haha But I totally agree with you, I believe Tamlin is still the end game, but there has to be something about Feyre and Rhysand, too!
Personally I really hope she doesn't end up with Rhysand because I strongly disliked him throughout the book, mostly because I had already became so attached to Tamlin. But regardless of that there's something about Rhysand that just made me really uncomfortable
I don't know yet but I'm kind of shipping with Rhysand because he kind of reminds me of Damion from the Vampire diaries whom I love. And for me Tamlin and Fayra's (I know I didn't spell her name correctly, sorry.) relationship was just to cute-sies for me. I mean he was a beast and yet I kept imagining him as some spoiled nice gentleman type except for when the full moon came out like a werewolf type of deal. What's wrong with me? Also I just always like my romance a little more hate-and-love type, not the cutesie-wuzzy. I wonder what that say's about me as a person... I mean I agree with you that Ryhsand is kinda creepy and mysterious but I think that's what I love about him.
rosacute jenniely That's exactly it, RHy's is dark and mysterious and I totally love that. I die for Damon from VD, he's similar in which at first you loved to hate him but than you just love him... Rhys is creepy, but there's more to him. Feyru also said she felt she could be more direct with him. I feel the night court will be so much more interesting also, we'll see in book 2!
I just finished ACOTAR and here's your booktalk, perfect timing xD !! SPOILERS !! YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY ONE UNDECIDED ON SHIPPING. Rhys is a really interesting character plus there's this bond they have and possibly they just mated at the end, but I really like Tamlin and I'm worried that Feyre's new love interest may somehow love between Feyre and Tamlin make less great and unimportant. Like in the first book their love was so strong they could break a curse, and now it's just bullshit. Besides I think I'm so sick of love triangles in books, because they're everywhere and nice, good guys always loose. Don't get me wrong, I love Damon or Warren, but that's the truth and I wish that this book could be different and unpredictible this time. ALSO I was so frustrated with Fayre that she didn't wanted to learn to read when she had the time! I knew it's gonna blow up in her face.
ilikeitandidont I am totally the same. I love the bad boys, they're a lot of fun and are so interesting, but the F&T relationship is just beautiful I think, and unlike Stefan and all the other 'good guys', I really really really like Tamlin! I don't know how I feel about a love triangle because it'll force me to choose a side, which I don't want to do because I love both characters.
My stand on Rhysand atm is basically my stand on Wells at the first half of Flash. Like, he has some really redeeming qualities, and he helps Feyre a lot, so I kinda like him. But at the same time, he's shady af so who knows
I heard the next book was gonna be a Hades and Persephone retelling type story! Loved your review btw I can totally relate to like everything you said! 💕
I agree with you somewhat on the shipping part - I'm leaning towards Rhysand because I think he will win me over in the next book, but if I were to judge it on this book alone it makes more sense to be Tamlin... There is a part of my that secretly loves how Rhysand is more dark and mysterious though!
I'm hardcore Feylin. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Fey and Rhys to develop a super strong friendship much like Celaena and Rowan in ToG, because I absolutely love Rhys, but Tamlin and Feyre make such a beautiful couple. And it'll be annoying if Feyre went through all that crap under the mountain just to end up with somebody else- she'd literally be proving freaking AMARANTHA was right about Feyre's heart being inconstant and all, and I just can't let that horrible woman be right about something.
Those who are reading ACOTAR and ship Tamlin and Feyre, and hate Rhysand... Honey, you got a big storm coming in ACOMAF. As you can probably already tell by some comments, YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH RHYSAND. Tamlin's turns out to be a complete tool, and I hate him. I used to love him in ACOTAR, but now he's a tool that Feyre could do better without. I honestly didn't give a shit about Rhysand in the first book, but now that I've read the second, I absolutely positively love him. Also, SPOILER: SJM said that Feysand is endgame ♥
what if the beast is Rhysand? he's pretty much wild and powerful enough to qualify as a figurative beast. and even he's forcing Feyre to come and stay with him. it makes sense to me. what do others think?
I'm definitely swaying towards Tamlin because idk Rhysand kind of weirded me out slightly. But there seems to be something with him that I'm excited to read about! Also I love Lucien I thought he was going to die and I wasn't sure if I could handle it but bae is alive 🙌🏼
If the next book is a about a hades and persephone retelling then it would be like how hades took persephone from where she loved the most (aka a place full of flowers? Like the spring court)
Rhysand was the one who kept her alive, though. He had complete faith that she would save _everyone_ from Amarantha. When he faces her with Feyre at his side in that skimpy dress, he says "She's going to be staying one week a month with me in *the Night Court*." He had given up, but Feyre had given back that hope of his. The reason he was drugging her was so that she could purposely forget what happens, to distract her form her tasks, beause he knows that it'll worry her to no end. Also… Tamlin was kind of abusing Feyre in the first book, even. He said he wasn't responsible for biting her if she was outside her room before the "dark spirits" left him. He was angry that she was spending time with Lucien, even though they didn't really know each other. He also believes anything he had was better than Feyre's life with her family- even if it was better, it was her lifestyle that she grew accustomed too. Going into ACOMAF, Rhysand wants to teach her how to read and write. Tamlin, he wants to do it for her. He's always commanding her around, too, and he wants power over her. Hell, Under the Mountain, he is LITERALLY STANDING HER DOING NOTHING WHILE LUCIEN HELPS HER IN HER FIRST TASK AND RHYSAND HELPS HER IN HER SECOND TASK LITERALLY DUDE WTF AND HE DOESN'T EVEN FIGHT BACK AGAINST AMARANTHA UNTIL LUCIEN THROWS A SWORD AT HIM RHYS LITERALLY WANTS TO DIE FIGHTING BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WANT HER TO BE ALONE BUT TAMLIN DOESN'T DO SHIT. -can we talk about how we need to thank Ianthe for putting red rose petals on the aisle in the wedding of ACOMAF when it was the one thing Feyre didn't want, if she didn't do that, then feyre wouldn't have called for help, and baby bat rhys wouldn't have come to whisk her away form marrying the tool.- -feylin is my otp said no one after reading ACOMAF-
all who ship tamlin and feyre, prepare to watch the ship sink in the 2nd book lol i used to ship them too but after the 2nd book there is no way in hell i could hate rhysand. I mean..... Rhys!!!!!! God i fell so in love with him in book 2. And tbh Tamlin changed, yes just different on the 2nd book, so yeaaaa... RHYSAND AND FEYRE FOR ARE ENDGAME.
I saved this book series for when I’d hit a hard reading slump since I love love love the Throne of Glass series...and here I am just overjoyed that the next book will be bigger and I can just fully enjoy it all in one go🤩 no reading slump in sight anymore!!
OMG Christine I LOVE Tamlin too ! He's just perfect, he's so nice and amazing and cute and funny and adorable and everything. He's also SMOKING HOT. Not nice and boring, but a true, nice character sexy as hell
Tamlin did nothing under the mountain other than beg, but Rhysand fought for her! And Rhysand did everything under the mountain for different reasons that was to keep her safe. Also, yeah, Rhysand and Feyre are mates and I just can’t. Feysand forever 💛
I have a theory about Amarantha and Jurian in my book review (it's long and I'm tired XD, but it's also typed out in the comments of Kat's liveshow if that's easier than watching). I feel pretty much the same as you about Rhys. I think he's appealing as a character because we don't know as much about him, but he was doing a lot of shady things to Feyre! I can't ship him right now, but I do see a lot of potential.
I agree with you a bit on Rhysand, I mean he tried to protect Feyre, but he was creepy and not a completely good fellow. I think the reason he started helping Feyre in the first place is because he hated Amarantha and Feyre was the only one able to stop her and give him back his power. I cannot bring myself to like him or believe he actually cares for Feyre. Like you said, at the end, their relationship was not there yet. It felt way too forced, like a massive jump had occured. And though I feel that Feyre and Tamlin had a bit of a jump between the dawn date and the lustful lunch (where I loved how Lucien so fabulously third-wheeled XD), I still ship them a lot because Tamlin is nice, and cute with Feyre before bedtime, and just really, truly cared about Feyre, if a bit too much.
AHHHH HOLY GOD THIS HURT MY HEART WATCHING THIS NOW AFTER ALL OF THE BOOKS HAVE COME OUT I WAS SCREAMING AT THE SCREEN THE WHOLE TIME OH MY LORD!!!!!!!!!
I've just finished ACOTAR and really loved it! In the beginning, I was so angry at her family for not doing ANYTHING to help!! Once we moved into the Spring Court, I felt like Feyre was too stubborn which made me not like her as much even though I understood why she acted the way she did.. Definitely ship her with TAMLIN! He's SOO SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL AND AHH..^_^ Lucien was such a great side character and I hated seeing him tortured! When Tamlin sent her away and she just left..?! Rhys to me was a creep! And although he helped her out, I can't get over some of his actions.. Loved the swimming scene, the paints, and all Tam did for her and her family's sake! Can't wait to read the next book! Great booktalk Christine!
In Brazil The Beauty and the Beast is known as A Bela (Beauty) e a Fera (Beast), I believe that the beast who needed to be tamed was Feyre not Tamlin. And the funny thing is that Fera and Feyre have the same pronunciation.
I love the Beauty and the Beast comparison, Sarah seems to love twisting fairy tales with Throne of Glass being another version of Cinderella. It all matched so well! Tamlin- Beast (even his animal form matches the disney beast), Rhysand- Gaston... As for the Rhys vs. Tamlin thing, I'm 100% for Tam! Rhysand scares me, he seems like a sociopath in the making and Tamlin is so adorable with Fayre!
I predict that King of that western island will definitely come into play. I love Tamlin. But I really like Rhysand too (he's interesting). As of now I'm more on Tamlin's side, but still. I just want Tamlin to be happy in the end. I'm torn in ToG too. DAMMIT SARA J.MASS WHY DO YOU HAVE TO WRITE LOVE TRIANGLES WHERE I CAN'T BE 100% ON ONE SIDE. Grrrrrrr LUCIEN
I get what everyone is saying about Rhysand and how he treated her wrong and I totally agree but there's just something about him. I love him. I want Feyre and him to get together. I've always hated love triangles because the girl NEVER chooses the guy I root for. In one of the book series I read Nightshade it was so close she could lean either way and then the author killed off my choice so the main character wouldn't have to chose. Idk I just love Rhysand and I'm hearing rumors that Sarah liked him better and I hope that for once the character I like is chosen. With his powers I thinks it's awesome. The fact that his most basic powers are that strong kind of fascinates me. As long as he never hurts her with them I think his abilities are kick ass.
Did anyone else know the answer to the riddle like 5 seconds after you read it. Also, I really don't like Rhysand because I started sobbing at the part where he started painting, dressing her up, and drugging her. I don't exactly know why that hit me so hard; I think I just started imagining myself in her place and I couldn't handle it
OMG best book EVER!!! I love it so much! I love tamlin SO MUCH I can totally get why rhysand is a contender too but for me it's tamlin all the way. I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!
I think that Rhysand and Feyre are going to be endgame, following ''the dresser'' theory. Okay, lemme explain: At the beginning of the book, Feyre said that she painted each of her sisters dresser drawers with a different design. She painted Nesta's with fire, Elain's with flowers and her own with whorls of stars. I think this is foreshadowing that Nesta will end up with Lucien (crackling fire= autumn), Elain will end up with Tamlin (flowers= spring) and she will end up with Rhysand (stars=night)Also, there was that scene in her cell when she heard the music, and it took her to a moonstone palace above the clouds, where she said the one she loved waited. I don't think she was referring to Tamlin here, because the ''moonstone palace'' somehow seems to be something that could be found in the night court. Maybe it is where Rhysand lives? Who knows? We just have to wait 3 more months...
Stephanie Lira I ship them too! Because he was the only one who really helped her under the mountain, even if his ways were questionable. Tamlin, on the other hand, did next to nothing. Also, the suriel never actually said which High Lord to stay with. We just assumed it was Tamlin....
Why is it such a popular trend to ship the female protagonist with the "bad boy"? Like honestly it's such a boring trope now at this point, and when I read the book I honestly didn't think Rhys and Feyre would be shipped together lol. I like Tamlin though, he has character and he's actually interesting. I'm surprised i'm one of the few who even ships Feyre and Tamlin...
+Mariana Renee I wouldn't say Rhysand is a bad boy. It is becoming a trend now that the female protagonist ends up with the misunderstood male antagonist. Personally, I find it more interesting since antagonists become the way they are for a reason so there is more for authors to work with character growth wise.
I think it's the fact that everyone wants redemption for the villain, there is that justification that is alluring and in every bad boy trope that redemption is love.
I love both, but halfway through the novel I was thinking how Tamlin really isn't so much like the "Beast". He was always so kind to her! And when Rhysand was introduced I thought, "ohhhh, is this the "Gaston" of the story?" But then at the end, with the imprinting and how Feyrhu has to spend a week in Rhys' court every month, and how that's unwilling and like a prison, and that whole situation is just so angsty, I kind of thought how THAT was more like the "Beast" and they have more of a love-hate relationship. Either way, I'm excited and let's just appreciate Sarah's impressive skills at creating more hot male characters lol :)
What if Rhysand is the actual beast, not Tamlin? Literally, Tamlin is the beast, but in the figurative sense, Rhysand is perceived as evil and cruel. That would give Sarah a way to make Feyre and Rhys endgame.
am I one of those few who ships Feyre with Tamlin? Because I never even viewed Rhys as a love interest for feyre.. At one point in the book he even said he has more important things than human women in his bed (basically dissing Feyre as his romance option ) so I'll be very disappointed if Feyre ends up with Rhysand.. I see him as Kenji from Shatter Me series.. He could be a very good - bad - sarcastic friend of Feyre but, god no, not a love interest.. I entirely give up my heart for Tamlin.
I am getting a Warner/Adam thing with these ships and we all know how THAT went. I shipped Juliette and Adam really hard and I definitely prefer Tamlin over rhysand and I'm to scared to really ship Tamlin and feyre because of that😬😭
The scene when Feyre came back to the house and Alis is there and scares her was so much like the scene in New Moon when Alice scares Bella! It was so funny!
Okay this comment is chock-full of SPOILERS. I was thinking, the book itself is kind of a hodge-podge of various bits from the Beauty and the Beast story, right? And while it seemed obvious that Tamlin was the parallel to The Beast, I feel like the beast also could've been Feyre, near the end. Because, you know, she has to prove her love to Tamlin and then she almost dies and then true love or whatever brings her back as a High Fae. Am I really wrong? I hope not.
I got so mad at other book reviews because people were making fun of Feyre for being in an abusive relationship and saying “oh so Tamlin is suddenly abusive” like do y’all not know how abusive relationships work? They don’t start off as assholes, they slowly become more and more controlling.
Okay so on the ships thing. From the get go I was hardcore Team Lucien. I loved that little bastard. I didn;t like Tamlin at all. He was boring and just rude to me. But SOMEHOW I grew to be hopelessly obsessed with him. Now I'm full on Team Tamlin. He's adorableI can't ainciowhfoihoievlnhblo. Rhysand... Okay I'm starting to fancy him a lot more, but still... My heart is screaming for Tamlin. Team Rhysand is beginning to fester, but I'm still hard core Team Tamlin. #TEAMTAMLIN Yeah I just now picked up and finished ACOTAR... I'm gonna get ACOMAF soon because I NEED MORE THIS BOOK HAD ME REELING.
I read it last week. I can't get over it. I like Tamlin and Feyre and also Lucien so much!!! But when you found out what is gonna happening with Tamlin and Feyre... UGH #heartisbroken but I also like Rhysand... HELP
*prepares for Long rant* 1) Does NO ONE ELSE get a Katniss Everdeen vibe from Feyre? I mean, she frickin uses a bow and arrow, she hunts to feed her family, she prefers pants and shirts to dresses, she is literally willing to sacrifice herself to protect those she loves. Does that not remind you of someone? 2) okay, Tamlin vs Rhysand. Sigh. How do people prefer Rhysand to Tamlin?! He is so mean, and he has so much power - scary power, might I add. He makes Tamlin and Lucien freaking bow to him, for the love of God. He made Tamlin BEG him. Secondly, he made Feyre make that stupid bargain with him before he healed her arm, and he purposefully drugged her and humiliated her before all the faeries there. In comparison, Tamlin was mostly sweet and nice to Feyre, and did everything he could to protect her. (Well except for that night at the spring ceremony or whatever, but even then it was the magic and not him who did that). I agree it seemed at the end that he has hope for redemption, but I do not want him and Feyre to go down as a ship. No frickin way. Feyre/Tamlin forever. 3) Buuut speaking of Feyre/Tamlin, I am SO WORRIED about what will happen in the next few books. Even in Throne of Glass Sarah did this - first made Celaena/Dorian feel like endgame, and then switched ships by the next frickin book. And then she switched ships AGAIN by the end of the second book, and now it seems like Rowan/Celaena is endgame. Dear God, I will DIE if Feyre leaves Tamlin for Rhysand. I will jump off a frickin cliff. She did NOT go through all those damn tasks and nearly die only for her to fall out of love with Tamlin. No way. 4) Is no one going to talk about the easiest riddle in all of history? I knew it, I knew the answer was love the MOMENT that riddle was said, but no freaking Feyre nearly got herself killed, and had to kill those two poor fae before she finally figured it out. Like seriously.
Coming back to this after reading ACOMAF, I now proceed to disagree with every point about Rhysand I made in this comment. He is great. Feyrhys forever. Only Sarah J Maas can completely flip my minds about a character like this 😂😂
+Nandana J Ha, same. I was a "failing" (that's their new ship name, Feylin stands for Feyre & Aelin) shipper until I read ACOMAF. I switched ships so fast.
1) I definitely got Katniss vibes. I think it was intentional, to make a strong likeable female protagonist. Too bad I didn't like her. 4) It was an easy riddle, but Feyre is _incredibly_ stupid and uneducated. There were times Feyre would misunderstand something...and I would read the lines several times over, and I couldn't grasp how she misunderstood it. But a part of it is her lack of education. She grasps things as they are in reality, not in metaphors. She's never picked up a book before and read the whole way through. Not even _halfway_ through. When you think about it, Katniss is unbelievably intelligent given her education and born into malnourishment. Feyre is actually the right amount of intelligence given her education and shift into malnourishment during her tweens.
Am I the only one who finishes a book and IMMEDIATELY watches Christine's book talk?
SAME HERE I FINISHED ACOTAR AND INSTANTLY WAS LIKE "OH MY GOD I NEED TO SEE WHAT CHRISTINE THINKS!"
literally me, and yeaheverytime i finish a book i go to christens book talks
Hiya Seth Nope I do that too
Hiya Seth this is why I'm here 😂
Nandana J and when she doesn't have one it's so sad
BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT WHEN LUCIEN WARNED FEYRE WHERE THE WORM WAS, AND THEN TAMLIN HAD TO GIVE HIM 20 LASHES FOR IT I love lucien
I love Lucien
I hate tamlin
Compare anyone to a fox and I automatically love them. XD
My friend and I have this theory that Rhys may have slipped into Lucien’s mind in order to warn her about the worm.
@Faith I disagree. Lucien is like the Zuko of ACOTAR, he’s too loyal to step out of line. 😂 Also, Tamlin would’ve recovered fast from the lashes cause he’s fae, (even high fae) and favored by Amarantha.
2015: "im not sure if I could really ship rhysand"
2016: "there are no ships! There's only rhysand"
Elle Sin YASSS
I love this comment so much XD
I was waiting for someone to bring this up. xD
Elle Sin oH MY GOSH YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😂😂
When she's tryin to solve the riddle
*me*: I think it's love
*Feyre be like*: nah I think it's typhus
Christine is talking about everything, yet here I am, screaming "It's A-MA-RAN-THA!"
Same
exactly
Aaron Burr, Sir I thought I was the only one LMAO
me too!
SAME
CAN WE TALK ABOUT LUCIEN?? That man had my heart from the beginning! An intuitive, clever, loyal character is just my type and I loved him to the core. I love his wittiness and devotion and I'm really wondering which of her sisters he'll end up with (because at this point it just makes sense). I'm leaning more towards Nesta? He needs someone to fire back at him and Nedra's there for that. But I could also see him with the middle sister, too. Maybe he needs someone who gives him peace, I don't know. But other than Rhys, he's definitely my favorite character (I have a thing for clever men haha).
OMG!! read the next book in the series!! :)
ARE WE NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE WORLDS EASIEST RIDDLE?!
+vickeydisneyqueen I was screaming at her throughout the whole second half of the book! Honestly, Feyre can be stupid sometimes...I still love her though
I felt exactly the same!
ikr!!! i was like its love isn't it but then i was like thats waaayyyy to easy and predictable, but it was and i was like why didnt she even think about love?
God knows but it was so painfully obvious!
+vickeydisneyqueen Yeah i had got the answer before the riddle had even finished. Would have saved feyre from a lot of trouble
she doesn't know where she Rhystands.
You bastard , i laugh too much with this pun
Omfg lmao XD
LMAOOO
Amen sister
Just wondering, have you read the second book?
@@SupernovaGalaxia 👀
Did anyone else start crying when they read that Lucien was crying when Feyre 'died'?
DID HE? I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE AMONGST ALL THE DRAMA THAT WAS GOING DOWN! MY HEART HURTS AT THE THOUGHT THO
mariana cristaldi I DIDNT READ THAT PART, BUT I'M CRYING NOW!!
Yes!
And it pains me even more because he told her that he wouldn't cry if she died when she went after the Suriel
OMGGG! THATS THE EXACT REASON I CRIED😂😂
Feyre's favorite pastime is vomiting😂😂
🤮🤮🤮
I love coming back to this after reading ACOMAF
I'm coming back to this as a refresher before I read ACOMAF
+twenty øne gøners øn a beach in michigan OMG SAAAME
+twenty øne gøners øn a beach in michigan me too😊
Imma read it when it's available in kcls
Its weirder after Acowar. Lol. Im truing to get my sister into reading this so i want her to watch the non spoilerypart.
Are we not going to talk about the friendship between Lucien and Feyre?!
I love Lucien and I ship him with Feyre. I hope I'm not the only one
+Mary P you're not the only one but that can't happen since she found her mate
OMG MY HEART IT WAS SO CUTE
YES I LOVED THE FRIENDSHIP
Mary P I friendSHIP them
I'm reading ACOMAF right now and I'm just gonna say... Sarah J. Maas is the queen of sinking ships.
Interesting
I was so pissed about the riddle! The solution was SOOO incredibly obvious to me, like the second Amarantha recited it I was like, "duh you moron, it's love." And Feyre was so dumb about it!!! UGH SO ANNOYING
IKR! I guessed that too right away!
closertochaos ME TOO IT WAS SO OBVIOUS UGHHGHGHGHGH
I think the reason it's so obvious to us is because we read a lot xD And we all know Feyre can't read.
+KuroiAiren5 I know. This is why I love Maas-she's really good at writing realistic and believable characters
*SPOLIERS*
😂😂 Back when we thought Tamlin was the beast but he was really Gaston.
Elizabeth Lagattuta YESSS. I love this! 😂😂😂
"Fairy sex ceremony"
I died XD
+سارة It's basically what it is XD
"gettin ready for spring!" LOL
Oops. I think she said this in the vid. I wasn't done watching the whole vid but anyway😂😂
Izzy Noel you were right :)
Congratulations, you were indeed correct 😂
Oh wow I had no idea until I read acomaf
you knew from the start girl
Everybody in the comments be arguing about Rhys vs. Tamlin and I'm just over here like TEAM LUCIEN
SAME
yesssss team looshien. AMEN
I love him so much!! I was shipping him with Feyre in the beggining. I still do though... I thought I was the only one!!
Omg yes! I don't see them ever becoming a couple but I loved Lucien from the moment we met him
Lol
After 9 years I've finally finished this book! I can FINALLY watch this video LOL you dont know how thrilled I am right now
It's nice knowing i'm not the only one with pronounciation problems
I'm awful with it as well to the point were I was reading the hunger games and thought peeta was pronounced pita and since he's a baker I thought it was Suzanne Collins trying to be funny
While I was reading the book I came across this awesome sentence: "She drew out the two syllables of my name - fay-ruh - into the most hideous whine I'd ever endured." and I was like OMIGOSH DID SHE JUST. But it was good, I mean at first I thought her name was pronounced 'Fay-r' or something like that... idek anymore
I LOVED ACOTAR! AND I KNEW THE ANSWER TO THE RIDDLE AS SOON AS I READ IT!!
Same!
Ellie Aquino SAME
when Tamlin entered I was expecting him to say, Harry you are a wizard! LOL
CaffreyStiles *Warner
Deborah Adams Thanks :D
This this this!! I'm just seeing such a parallel between Adam/Juliette/Warner and tamlin/feyre/Rhys!
Who are Adam and Warner?
Mouzly From the Shatter Me series
Can't wait to see your review on A Court of Mist and Fury, ACOTAR pales in comparison!!
Is it better bc I'm not sure if I want to read it ( to keep the good memories )
+Dorry G Oh yes definitely!! Some people have problem with it, but I say give it a chance and go with the flow. The character development, the world building and the plot are 10 times better than ACOTAR..it's definitely one of my favorite books of 2016!
Thanks!I'll buy it in a few days but if it's really even better than ACOTAR than I can't wait!
With no spoilers : Do you ship Fayra *sorry if I spelt it wrong and Tamlin with Rhysand *misspelled again lol
Ooops I mean her with Tamlin OR with Rhysand
I have one question for you all: is there a romance novel with a guy like Lucien as the main love interest? Because I seriously need that book.
I want Kaz Brekker to become High Lord of The Night Court.
Can't Be Fucking Bothered omg yes!! He would be perfect!
Varun Narain omg yes!
YES
Six of crows could never
Bri • this old but.... six of crows would bury these books alive and not give a second look back.
I completely agree. It seems too obvious to me but I don't know. I just love Tamlin :(
Morgan Blanch what's the mating bond?
IDK.
maureenkeavy YEAH MAYBE - BUT STILLLLLLLLLLLL so frustrating XD
I REALLY thought I was going to love this one.. download mp3 version @ tinyurl . com \ qylknak . delete spaces.
I have never shipped a couple as much as Tamlin & Feyre.
+maureenkeavy you are not going to like the next book then....
Well, like Amarantha said, "typical human trash with their inconstant, dull hearts" haha
But I totally agree with you, I believe Tamlin is still the end game, but there has to be something about Feyre and Rhysand, too!
+Tori T The first book wouldn't necessarily be irrelevant it could be a lesson about how love is found in unexpected places.
I don't think it's pointless. Feyre saved all the Faes from Amarantha's rule and her family also changed.
Personally I really hope she doesn't end up with Rhysand because I strongly disliked him throughout the book, mostly because I had already became so attached to Tamlin. But regardless of that there's something about Rhysand that just made me really uncomfortable
Okay I think literally everyone doesn't want Rhysand & Feyre. Like Tamlin & Feyre forever. Like this book would honestly yes be a waste.
Yassss. This is me too. I love Rhysand and I ship Feyre and him. But I also want tamlin to have a happy ending tho
Samantha Rzepecki True that. x3
I literally, thought the same about Rhys I love him! He's so similar to Damon OMG!!
Cinderella Blaze Yeah girl!!!!
I just finished ACOTAR and here's your booktalk, perfect timing xD
SAME!
My stand on Rhysand atm is basically my stand on Wells at the first half of Flash. Like, he has some really redeeming qualities, and he helps Feyre a lot, so I kinda like him. But at the same time, he's shady af so who knows
i hope lucien finds a love interest soon! *coughs* maybe nesta? no?
YES YES YES YES YES
Not Nesta... But maybe a certain flower growing sister...? If you know what I'm saying...
He ends up with Elain
NO!! NESTA IS FOR CASSIAN!!! AHHHHHH
I'm reading this comment in 2019 and honstly how about *no*
I heard the next book was gonna be a Hades and Persephone retelling type story! Loved your review btw I can totally relate to like everything you said! 💕
OMG
Arlin and Rowan are basically the same as Rhys and Feyre.... ish
Well I can see the tables turning when uh read acomaf!!
Are you just so excited for a court of mist and fury???? because I am so excited!!!!!!
ME TOO, i kinda want a little rhysand and feyre moments tbh
+Sherissa Henderson There were more than enough Rhysand and feyre moments in book 2 and i love every one of them!
+certified fangirl yessssss!!!!
I'm definitely swaying towards Tamlin because idk Rhysand kind of weirded me out slightly. But there seems to be something with him that I'm excited to read about! Also I love Lucien I thought he was going to die and I wasn't sure if I could handle it but bae is alive 🙌🏼
Watching this after reading most of ACOMAF........
OMG I ALSO CALL RHYSAND LIKE YOU DO, I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I WAS WRONG!
You aren't; the way she said it is correct. It's just his nickname "Rhys" that sounds like "Reese"(like the candy).
no, sarah j maas said its Ree sand
Chloe Koons look at the pronunciation guide in the back of the book
If the next book is a about a hades and persephone retelling then it would be like how hades took persephone from where she loved the most (aka a place full of flowers? Like the spring court)
OH AND TAMLIN AS DEMETER? Omg
YES! Exactly what I was thinking hahahaha.
"I love that rainbow unicorn blood lake"
ACOTAR: Breaking Fae
ACOMAF: Fifty shades of FAE,
I lost it at the "rainbow unicorn blood lake" 😂😂😂
Hell, Under the Mountain, he is LITERALLY STANDING HER DOING NOTHING WHILE LUCIEN HELPS HER IN HER FIRST TASK AND RHYSAND HELPS HER IN HER SECOND TASK
LITERALLY DUDE WTF
AND HE DOESN'T EVEN FIGHT BACK AGAINST AMARANTHA UNTIL LUCIEN THROWS A SWORD AT HIM
RHYS LITERALLY WANTS TO DIE FIGHTING BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WANT HER TO BE ALONE BUT TAMLIN DOESN'T DO SHIT.
-can we talk about how we need to thank Ianthe for putting red rose petals on the aisle in the wedding of ACOMAF when it was the one thing Feyre didn't want, if she didn't do that, then feyre wouldn't have called for help, and baby bat rhys wouldn't have come to whisk her away form marrying the tool.-
-feylin is my otp said no one after reading ACOMAF-
just finished, Lucien is my baby
I just love Lucien sm, how he warned her where the worm was and got hurt for it, such a sweetheart honestly
all who ship tamlin and feyre, prepare to watch the ship sink in the 2nd book lol
i used to ship them too but after the 2nd book there is no way in hell i could hate rhysand. I mean..... Rhys!!!!!! God i fell so in love with him in book 2. And tbh Tamlin changed, yes just different on the 2nd book, so yeaaaa... RHYSAND AND FEYRE FOR ARE ENDGAME.
OH GOD NOOOOOOOOO
Totally endgame. No way they couldn't be
I saved this book series for when I’d hit a hard reading slump since I love love love the Throne of Glass series...and here I am just overjoyed that the next book will be bigger and I can just fully enjoy it all in one go🤩 no reading slump in sight anymore!!
I read this book instead of studying for my physics final :))
OMG Christine I LOVE Tamlin too ! He's just perfect, he's so nice and amazing and cute and funny and adorable and everything. He's also SMOKING HOT. Not nice and boring, but a true, nice character sexy as hell
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHH
I’m guessing you haven’t read acomaf yet
agreed 💯
Tamlin did nothing under the mountain other than beg, but Rhysand fought for her! And Rhysand did everything under the mountain for different reasons that was to keep her safe. Also, yeah, Rhysand and Feyre are mates and I just can’t. Feysand forever 💛
All throughout the first trial all I could picture in my head, chasing feyre, was Benedict Lightworm and I couldn't stop laughing.
I feel the same about Rhys! I found him alluring because he's kind of a "bad boy" type but my heart is rooting for Tamlin :/
OMG same!! I thought I was the only one who thought she'd have to kill her family in the third task! 😂
I pronounce Rhysand the same way! I AM NOT ALONE!!!
Mya Coolio same!! I tried saying it the other way but it felt wrong
Sameeee
Christine's Booktalks are such good memory boosters before reading the next book in the series!!!!!!
When you FINALLY finish A court of thornes and roses and the first thing you do is rush to Christine for the booktalk
He's SOO SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL AND AHH..^_^
Lucien was such a great side character and I hated seeing him tortured!
Rhys, Gaston....oh, my sweet summer child...
Grrrrrrr
LUCIEN
yessss Lucien
+Sophie Luvs Books I love Lucien!
totally agree with you sophie omg
Rowaelin is endgame.
As long as he never hurts her with them I think his abilities are kick ass.
omg christine this is the calmest ive seen u in a book talk
In her third task when they bought out three innocents (2 male, 1 female) I immediately thought it was Alis & her boys.
Your reviews are always the best and make me want to read the books. Fav booktuber for sure!
Did anyone else know the answer to the riddle like 5 seconds after you read it. Also, I really don't like Rhysand because I started sobbing at the part where he started painting, dressing her up, and drugging her. I don't exactly know why that hit me so hard; I think I just started imagining myself in her place and I couldn't handle it
Yeah, I called it as soon as I heard it. Luckily, there were other twists.
Yess!! I kind of ship her with rhysand
Stephanie Lira I ship them too! Because he was the only one who really helped her under the mountain, even if his ways were questionable. Tamlin, on the other hand, did next to nothing. Also, the suriel never actually said which High Lord to stay with. We just assumed it was Tamlin....
Omg that's right he could have very well meant Rhys!
HERMIONE I ALWAYS KNEW YOU WERE A GENIUS
Well I mean it is a beauty and the BEAST retelling...
tbh in my opinion I think the Feyre-Tamlin-Rhysand love triangle is kinda like the Juliette-Adam-Warner triangle? Does that make sense?
So true
How can I like this more than once?
WOAHHH
You always portray how I feel PERFECTLY! Just about to start the new one! oh boy oh boy
am I one of those few who ships Feyre with Tamlin? Because I never even viewed Rhys as a love interest for feyre.. At one point in the book he even said he has more important things than human women in his bed (basically dissing Feyre as his romance option ) so I'll be very disappointed if Feyre ends up with Rhysand.. I see him as Kenji from Shatter Me series.. He could be a very good - bad - sarcastic friend of Feyre but, god no, not a love interest.. I entirely give up my heart for Tamlin.
I completely absolutely positively agree with you like 100% like really I hope she ends up with tamlin cause like…tamlin, no more words
I completely agree with this. Rhysand is just not a good love interest in mind.
I completely agree. I never saw him aa being a love interest at all really.
I agree too. Oh my god if Feyre ends up with Rhysand im going to dieeeeeee
I ship Feyre and Tamlin, I'm currently rereading the book and they would be cute together
Every time I reread this series I fall in love with it all over again ah it's amazing
Rhysand kind of reminds me of Damon from the Vampire Diaries
Karla Sofia SAMMEE!
I've been waiting to watch this ever since it came out, and I finally finished ACOTAR. IT WAS SO GOOD
I am getting a Warner/Adam thing with these ships and we all know how THAT went.
I hope not.
tamlin is more gaston... hahahah
Finally finished it on audible just brought the second one. I really enjoyed the book.
1. Her name Amaranth, not Amantha -_-
2. Lucien reminded me of Puck of the Iron Fey series (which you reaally should read :)
Nhi Linh Nguyen I adored the iron fey series!
I'm so glad you did a booktalk video about this book I was about to read it after my school exams but right now I don't think I can wait..
Christine ! Are you going to talk about PS I Still Love You ? :D
I cannot be the only one that immediately loved Rhysand?
I finished it like about a minute ago and I LOVED it. 😘
You seriously are so entertaining to watch! Thanks for the video! I look forward to reading it.
I ship Feyre and Tamlin because they are soooo cute together and also because I want Rhysand for myself :D
Saaaaame 😂
Lol
#TEAMTAMLIN
Yeah I just now picked up and finished ACOTAR...
HELP
*prepares for Long rant*
1) Does NO ONE ELSE get a Katniss Everdeen vibe from Feyre?
AubrentheJack True, also I just remembered that Katniss still went to school whereas Feyre never learnt to read at all.
You won't be saying all this stuff (specifically about Rhysand) in the second book, just you wait!!!
