Boeing employee on the 787 here. I work in the same building John did. Its incredibly sad for so many of us :(
One of my sons is an FO on a Boeing 787. These stories are very concerning.
@@baseballmomof8 Boeing 787 is very safe, there's nothing to worry at all...
I work in Boeing Defense and its pretty worrying to see program/business side of the house only care about cost and schedule rather than the function and quality of suppliers and rigorous adherence to using internal shops which continually produce bad equipment whether its a skill problem or otherwise. But the combination of cost and schedule over engineering and quality direction is detrimental. It seems in every organization in Boeing these days that those types of bean counters have power over everyone else, very unfortunate.
I know FOD is always a serious concern. I also know pilots and A&P mechanics would be raising hell if they felt these aircraft were not safe.
@@AWildNoodle the bean counters are ruining so many organizations. Sad.
Reminds me of the story where an engineering professor took his students on a trip and when it was announced that the plane they would be flying on was designed by their class; all the students ran off it immediately. The professor, however, stayed seated and when asked why he hadn’t left he responded, “If *they* designed it, then I’m confident that it won’t even start”
Too funny

We've had rotor blades and tail rotors flying off randomly over the last couple of decades. Maybe some light needs to be shined on that too.
Yeah i used to work in the department/facility that manufactured and inspected the strap pack for apaches. I can tell you the employees that worked in our shop were not up to par and neither was the work/product. When I got there I was barely even trained, and all of my coworkers were actively using drugs and alcohol, sometimes on the clock. Apaches aren't safe either.
Google the Latam Airline “technical event” that happened the other day. Boeing Dreamliner, 50 people injured.
Helicopters take more of our soldiers than our enemies do, effed up for sure☹️

Men who believe they have something important to do don't kill themselves. In many cases, that's exactly what prevents men from attempting suicide.

I don't believe it either. Boeing lawyers asked John to stay one more day. Then he was found dead. He told his friend that if he ends up dead, It's not suicide.

He has told me about their defect inspection process and how many times they have to remake a whole part because of something like a little scratch in the glass. The fact that these freaking car mirrors have better quality control than an airplane is just insane.
They absolutely don't. The QC in aerospace is insane. There's also infinitely more that can go wrong with launching and landing a several ton hunk of metal, than there is in the functioning of a mirror, powered or otherwise. You can't hold a plane in your hand and go over it for imperfections. They have to do what's called a C Check, and it's far more involved.
@@Compton3clipsedyeah, QC in aerospace is insane... If you're doing something for SpaceX or blue origin. Obviously if you're doing something for boeing, you can leave off half the screws and it'll pass no problem.

I would argue mass produced parts would be easier to have better quality control. Made to order planes? Probably not. High complexity and a lot of custom parts doesn't help.
Still, safety is a thing and they need to get their shit together (maintenance and the manufacturers).

Then a bad AOA sensor and a silent flight stabilizing system called MCAS killed 189 people. Then the sensor and MCAS killed 157 people aboard Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 less than five months later.
i remember this one, they literally mocked one of their largest operator in asia because of greed and a bit of racism ? no wonder lion air and subsidiaries start buying airbus planes.
the Ethiopian air crash opened everyone's eyes that something's wrong at boeing.
My dad used to work at Metal Craft here in Cedar City, UT. They make Boeing parts. My dad was one of the people that would inspect finished parts and decide if they passed or failed inspection. The amount of times I heard him come home so infuriated by the poor quality of parts that were being passed was mind boggling. If he deemed something not worthy of passing his boss would come in and over rule and send the part through anyways because he didn’t want to waste the time on starting all over again. Boeing parts are even made with poor quality before even being shipped to them to be put on the plane🤦🏼♀️
Thats because Boeing treat their supplier like crap and urged suppliers to cut corners.

Approximately 12-14 years ago, I remember watching a British undercover investigative documentary, about the global airline parts industry. It was terrifying. Commercial airline warehouses were full of cheaper counterfeit aircraft parts, and they were being supplied to all the major airlines. The worst thing about it, was that the airlines knew that many of the parts they were buying and fitting to their commercial jets, were counterfeit and of inferior quality, but turned a blind eye due to cost savings.
The investigative reporters were told, that in the future there will be many failures and even planes dropping out of the sky, as a direct result of these substandard parts.
Can you give the name of the documentary? I'd love to watch it, and source jt for why I'm never getting on an aeroplane
Counterfeit parts has been a problem for a long time... it was found that even Air Force 1 had a lot of counterfeit parts.
And I can't fix my washing machine because it is too dangerous.
Oh yeah a few years back they got in a shit ton of trouble because of this. The industry is also just VERY understaffed.

I just flew United last month, will never be doing that again.
Wow! My prayers for safety in the last 2 weeks were truly answered. I was on 2 United flights-first into Houston on 3/4
And then from Houston on 3/11. God is good, and I got everywhere safely!
Please keep in mind, apart from the door plug blow out, all of these flights are United Airlines both their Boeing & Airbus models. It looks a lot more like a maintenance culture flaw at United.
Exactly, it's like blaming Honda because after your engine light came on at 60,000 miles the engine stopped working.
Wasn't one of them Alaska?
Came here to make a similar point. Recently there have been quite a few people being licensed to work on aircraft that truly shouldn't have passed examination. There are Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) programs that are walking their students through the exam giving them the answers to boost their graduation rate and then sending out these "qualified" people to work without the skills and knowledge they really need. There is also the push for diversity quotas both in schools and maintenance companies that is bringing down the quality of work because race and gender identity is becoming more important than skill and qualification.
Don't forget United is now a DEI company, makes me not want to fly with them now. they're not attracting the BEST but by race and being a woman along with all the male stewards are mostly all gay or Trans
very good point. i am also not the kind of guy who get's in physical fights. so i wouldn't want to fly united "we beat up our customers, even surgeons" airlines either XD
Brett forgot the other Boeing incident that happened just a couple of days ago. During a flight between Sydney, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand, a Boeing 747, without any notice, suddenly just dropped mid-flight for a few seconds, causing passengers and staff to literally hit the ceiling. 50 people injured or so, mostly minor but some more severe. It wasn't turbulence or anything. The pilot allegedly told a passenger that suddenly the instrument control panels just shut off. The plane just seemed to stop working completely for a moment mid-flight.
Probably stalled the engines by accident. That plane that crashed in Nashville? I talked to a sales engineer that showed me a video of the faulty design of the engine power off on the throttle, how it can accidentally be engaged by the two pilots. He said it could happen easily and the worst part is, Boeing has had the same design on their planes for decades. Maybe that happened here
alright man listen im no expert on planes, but if you've ever thrown a paper airplane you notice that, even without force constantly being exerted, it still flies for a bit. since this was apparently such a noticeable drop that it resulted in everyone hitting the ceiling, something just isn't making sense
the explanations might be:
-this 'moment' was a lot longer than your usual moment (brings into question how they hit the ceiling.. or if they fell for long enough, how they didn't hit the *ground*).
-the plane just weighed that dang much.
-it was going pretty slow (planes don't fly very slow).
-the engines are a marvel of modern science and were the ONLY thing keeping that thing from falling like wile e coyote
or this story just isn't true
i like the last explanation, it makes more sense than the rest
That was a Boeing 787 and it was cause by violent turbulence. Its Something that can happen to any airplane
She mentioned it. Thats the flight that resulted in injured passengers. And it wasnt a 747 it was a 787 dreamliner. What happened is that theres a secondary switch on the back of the seat on the 787 to allow the pilot to move the seat to get into it. there is a cover on the switch so that this doesent happen but the plastic cover was loose so when the flight attendant rested her hand on the back of the seat to hand the food to the pikot she inadvertently held down the switch which pushed the seat and tray forward and pushing the yoke down, disengaging the auto pilot and pitching the nose down. This is part of the reasoj why they say to always keep your seatbelt fastned if youre sitting down because unexpected turbulence or an emergency could cause the plane to lose altitude which will lift you out of your seat and you'll end up hitting the cieling and maybe falling on other passengers causing injury to yourself and others.
I remember once I was on a red eye from Honolulu to Vancouver and we were all sleeping and suddenly out of nowhere the plane just dropped. Everyone woke up and started screaming. It was terrifying. Then we had turbulence after and everyone was scared.
Time to give Boeing the Bud Light treatment 👊
I love how smoothly you segue in and out of your sponsor plugs 😂❤

Seems like sabotage. I mean everyone would be suspicious of Boeing if they killed their whistle blower. Doesn't make sense of them doing that to themselves
I blame lapses in maintenance. Work ethic is at an all time low
One thing to consider as well is it may not be coming from a competitor but rather a foreign power working to undermine infrastructure.
From what I have read the vast majority of the issues were caused by lack of maintenance by airlines and the airlines are blaming it Boeing.
Boeing quality has probably gone down but the airlines are also responsible for checking and maintaining these planes unless they contract all that out to Boeing.

(We were in the very back which definitely didn’t help!) literally seconds away from what we thought would be our landing in Ogden Utah, the pilot pivoted UP as hard and as fast as he could! The air pressure and G-force was the craziest and most terrifying things I’ve ever felt. My poor baby just started at me terrified. We flew STEEPLY right back into the sky and after waiting for MANY minutes, the pilot explained that he had to turn the plane around and try to land again because there was a plan that had broken down on the runway and there was a “miscommunication” from the towers so he didn’t know about it. I was literally seconds away from a plane crash…
I was scared of flying before and practice breathing and affirmations but after that, it’s been almost unbearable.
This happened to us in 2022 on a United flight from Rapid City to Denver. We had already been delayed on the tarmac for about 25 minutes in RC because Denver ATC said they didn't have enough controllers to manage the volume of planes coming in at our scheduled arrival time. When we arrived over Denver our plane was diverted to a different runway due to crosswinds. We were descending to the runway and almost at touch down when the pilot pulled the plane back into a climb. The pilot reported to us there was another plane still on the runway, my husband even saw it from the window. These near misses have been happening a lot.
It's not uncommon to start to land and then to re-do the approach by lifting of again, it can happen due to runway traffic, inclement weather, wind, and other things. Better safe than sorry, always better to make a loop around and try again and the fact your pilots did so is a testament of safety. They aren't flying blind you know, they can see that there are planes in the way and can definitely choose to pull up and go around , is a good thing. These employees are talking about the 787 dreamliner too which has a perfect record in 10 yrs, 0 crashes. The 787 Max 8 crashes were due to software too. You can view the list of ATC recordings of incidents on the live atc website and I wouldn't say the frequency is much different but I can say with 100% certainty that flying has been much safer now than back in the 90s and 2000s.
@@kaseysmith379 you are missing the point. The ATC agent should have never cleared the plane to land when there was still a plane on the runway, that was dangerous. If the pilot hadn't been able see, such as at night, or flying by instruments, it could have been deadly. The concern is that overall safety when flying is being impacted negatively by various factors, cost-cutting, DEI, staffing shortages due to COVID. I read an article a few months ago that stated these 'near-miss' events are occurring more frequently and are going under-reported. At de-planing, the pilot was visibly angry, so no, I don't think he would have agreed that was a "testament" to safety, that is nonsense. The ATC put his and hundreds other lives in jeopardy as the collision would most likely have killed everyone on board both planes.
Omg these stories are terrifying!!! 😰
@@MsTessLJ You are talking about ATC but I was talking about the planes and pilots. How could it be possible that near miss events go un-reported when all communication is recorded between the pilot and the ATC? If you make a big mistake people will know about it. You can listen to ATC live streams they are public record. You honestly have no idea what the real situation was for your pilot on that flight. He could have been visibly angry due to being delayed and having to re-approach after already being dialed in. Its an objective fact that there are less crashes today than ever before.
Glad I saw this video. I have someplace to be in May.
My dad works for boeing but he works more on the inspecting the weapons and fixing them so I had no idea this was going on. I remember him even having a meeting with Japan one time because they wanted his opinion on the subaru cars out there. But now I don't feel like flying for a while.
brett stop giving me more anxiety i gotta take 8 flights soon
She did recommend Hallow.
The lord is with you ✝️
you're doomed
You might wanna drive sucks to be you
I just went on a united flight last month, you’ll be okay. good luck
This is why I don't fly commercially anymore, planes are built in warehouse assembly lines and they're overlooked and inspected by people with 9-5 jobs who just want to get through the day, I love flying but commercial flying in any plane is now becoming a lesser commodity.
Thanks for staying off our flights.
@@SpaceBird-Founder Get an inspection team in those planes then maybe you can have my money again. 😂
@@crusaderknight6928 We don't need your money though, keep it to yourself
I guess your rich enough to fly private lol
@@SpaceBird-Founder Apparently you do with all these flights yearly.
My favorite show is aircrash investigation … it has been happening for years and years (esp when airlines cut costs and offshored maintenance) . But I don’t know the stats recently … it would be interesting to see
I do not work there, but I suspect they are pushing their production as hard as possible. This increases the number of failing or non-conforming parts. Depending on how the parts fail, there are ways to make them pass.
"Ladies and gentleman, we realized.. something ...happenedoutside" 😂 ya think?
If I could see the engine being on fire right next to me at that point, I don’t think that would exactly cut it.
Hi Brett, my son and I are huge fan of yours. I started watching you over a year ago and I watched you while I was pregnant and my son recognizes your voice now that he’s here. Thank you for being an amazing human!
congrats on the baby! ❤
This is the most depressing comment I've read today....
@@taylorbullard2118 And yours is the most depressing I've read today. Crawl back up your cave and stop spreading negativity!
You’re doing a great job exposing your son to real noble young women vs the women who over sexualize themselves or are too deluded to acknowledge their own gender differences.
@@mm-ln9sw thank you💕
That was an awesome segue into your advertisement
I used to be a pilot. I almost had an engine failure two nights in a row on a dodgy aircraft. I quit and ended up doing flight planning for a large airline, where I proceeded to see flight plans get signed off by my supervisor which where technically illegal due to maintenance issues with the aircraft. The spicey cough resulted in all of us losing our jobs, but when they called to see if I wanted to return, I didn't have the enthusiasm anymore.
"What goes up, must come down. Fly AirBus." -- Boeing engineer quote
Our son WAS flying the Airbus A320- switched to the 787- I wish he hadn’t.
@@baseballmomof8 yikes
Wait so is “airbus” the better of the two? And how can I check what type of plane my flight will be on?
@@shaylakenney141 Any plane that begins with the letter "A", for example A320, is built by AirBus.
@@shaylakenney141 yes. Generally, when you look at flights, it will tell you what kind of aircraft it’s going to be.
Correction about the United 777 that lost a wheel: it took off from SFO, heading to Tokyo Narita but did an emergency landing at LAX
Bret that was a piston engine GE sound effect 😂 0:54
If I were in his position I'd be live streaming myself 24/7 and making it known so it could be archived away from corporate control.
before you board sir you have to sign this waiver
DEI = "THERES SOMETHING ON THE WING... SOME - THING ! "😳
As a former flight attendant, this makes me sick.
The boeing tire that fell off was actually in SFO but made emergency landing at LAX
Exactly what I needed to see 3 weeks before my first ever flight😀👍
To be precise, the plane that slid off the runway tried to make a turn on a wet runway at 50 mph. Instead of 10 mph. The pilot drifts in his spare time.
Dreamliner? More like Screamliner.😳😬😰
it's kinda weird how this all started happening in the last few months, maybe poor maintenance and cutting costs for more profit. this seems like more of a corporate issue then a employee problem
It's in Seattle
You better be careful, lady, if they can whack him, they can whack you
They’re being probed….. hehehehehe
They might WHACK you… hehehehehe
Screw the government witch owns boeing
true :(
Greed. Corporate greed. Issues with quality almost always come down to greed.
This is a great video to watch days before I fly to Europe :D
lol same and im flying boeing😭💔
@@treecookie88 Good luck!
when? I want to ask you again if you're alive after the flight. I want you to be remembered in here but hopefully nothing bad happens@@treecookie88
I remember, about ten or so years ago, that it was a big deal that the front landing gear on one airplane just happened to seize up while landing, and the landing gear caught on fire.
Hey Brett! I will say, getting your pilots license is a great thing to do. The 777 with the gear falling off was because of bad maintenance. The airplane was almost 30 years old. Not every Boeing planes are horrible. The max has many issues, yes. But getting your private pilots license, it’s such a great thing to have. I’m training to get mine right now. Flying Cessnas or diamond aircraft planes are very safe. Continue to train. It’s great.
That is worrying. Old planes should be the safest because of their D-checks. If not, its a red flag that someone in United isn't doing their D-checks properly. And that will point to an old plane falling out of the sky very soon.
I worked in quality control for a decade. I was pressured by management, shift supervisors, field supervisirs and shipping departments to make decisions based on their departments needs and quotas. Screw that job
