As a Indian who grew up half his life in india, I can tell you the pressure to become a doctor or a engineer is quite real. Academic pressure starts at childhood. We had to pass exams even at kindergarten to progress to the higher classes, otherwise you repeat the year. Academic failure at any age is seen as a shameful thing for the family. This is why student suicide rate is incredibly high in India. Of course I’m generalising quite a bit here, and perhaps things have changed in the the 11 years since I’ve moved. My own parents were never like this, they always supported me, even when I wanted to become an actor, or when I dropped out of school at a young age. Today I am a cancer research student and a molecular biologist by training, so things turned out okay for me 😂. However, one of my close friend wasn’t so lucky. He unalived himself at the age of 18 because he failed 12th grade. The lead actor in this movie is well known for making movies based on current ongoing social and legal issues in India. After this movie came out, it raised a lot of awareness about student suicide in the country which really changed a lot of people’s attitudes towards the topic (including teachers and parents). P.S. India is no longer a British colony 😂 it won its independence in 1947. Independence Day is still celebrated every august in india. And sorry for the huge essay 😂

It's nothing much. It's like a bullying tradition in Indian colleges. The seniors rag the new coming juniors by the worst possible way they can imagine lol. I mean it's cruel but when we think about it later it's super funny to think about. Ragging is a fun way to get to know your seniors until and unless it's harmless. (Btw I'm no way supporting ragging, I'm Just giving an opinion, cause in many cases ragging turns violent and people end up getting hurt or worse)
That beautiful mountain side location was from Ladakh, India. 😊
