In Virginia we make this with a little bit of Old Bay (never ever use Young Bay). Just a few hours East of me, my Chesapeake family makes an incredible shrimp pie which is basically cooked shrimp (peeled, deveined, and halved) and a top crust of butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, Old Bay (or cayenne), and saltine crackers or panko. Little bit more to it than that, Boys, but it’s almost as scrumptious as your casserole! Love your cooking and more importantly in these times…your laughter!
Ooohhhh! That all sounds absolutely scrumptious! Some of the best food we've ever eaten in our lives was in the Chesapeake bay area! Thank you so much for your love and support, Eric! It truly means so much to us! You are the best!
Love this! My dad used to make oyster stew for New Years when we were growing up (the only time he cooked), and he made it exactly the way Wesley said, lol. Bless your granny, Chris, and I hope yours reminds you of her. I think this dish would be a good entre with any rich meat. Will try it this winter! Thank you!
I have had a total binge day with both of you today! Not sure how I found you but I am soooo excited to try the Oyster casserole and all of the others! I am a Texan so all of these resonate! Keep cooking!
Leslie!! Woo hoo! We are THRILLED you found our channel and we found YOU!! Please stay tuned and stay in touch (fellow Texan!)....so much more fun and food on the way!! Kris & Wesley
Merry Christmas my Friends! I want to say Thank-you for all you both have given to my family and me this past year. All your Tips, Tricks, Laughs and New ideas. Especially the laughs, we really needed them this year. God Bless you Kris and Wesley, can't wait to share 21 with both of you. Cheers! poko
Loon and Looney . . . men, guys, what are you doing to me. Okay, so a few days ago you had me at Brussel Sprouts. You don't wanna know what happens with Oysters! LOL. But true. I live for oysters in any style imaginable. I made the most delicious Oyster Cornbread Stuffing Cakes at Thanksgiving. Hmmmm . . . . I am making a beautiful Roast Duck tomorrow . . . thinking your Brussel Sprout recipe and now your Oyster Casserole. HEAVEN!! Thanks for another awesome recipe. Stay Strong, Be Well, Keep Safe, Cook and Loon On! Huggz!
Hi Guys, Merry Christmas to you both and your loved ones. It's been a tough year for sure, but your channel has been great despite this. Lots of fun and lots of fab food. I simply wish you both a wonderful 2021. Stevie in Scotland x
That's hysterical! It's a little creepier here. There are coyotes that have a den in the woods behind us and when sirens go by they howl. What a happy coincidence today with your video as I have fresh oysters right now I'm just getting ready to shuck. (Had a few earlier don't tell anyone!) Shuck an oyster have a drink. When you can shuck your own it's an event something special to do not just eating. Made some mignonette and I went full on Ron Swanson and have a bottle of Lagavulin 16. A great day. Thanks guys! 🙋
I've never had an oyster so completely going off of sight... I just can't! I'm not a huge fish eater anymore not that I was but these days steamed shrimp, steamed crab legs and lobster are the only fishlike items I will really go to much to the unhappiness of my waist. Even my tuna fish sandwiches are drowning in mayo... Never developed the taste.
I always think its funny when they do videos like this but conveniently leave out that for most of us that's $60 worth of oysters. If you don't live in a coastal community these foods are ruinously expensive. I learned my lesson about 20 years ago when I endeavored to do Rachel Ray's "Italian Nachos" which ended up needing $80 worth of ingredients for enough nachos to feed 3 people...
We live in North Texas, hundred of miles from the coast. This was my grandmother's recipe, who lived in Missouri, even further from the coast. We got our oysters from Kroger, for about $15 for a lb. We always serve this dish during the holidays, so it's a bit of a "special occasion" dish. My grandparents were certainly on a modest budget. This dish a something special, but, certainly not ruinous, in any way.
I DON'T LIKE OYSTERS! But this video has me wondering...have I been too judgemental? I'll let you know. If I buy oysters and try this recipe, and I still can't tolerate them, I'm sending you the bill.
May I ask for just a a text reply to say Merry Christmas to my mother Brenda. She does so much for our family and never stops. She takes care of my disabled grandfather and thinks of everyone else first. It's inspiring and I would just like to say "Look Mom The Loons say Merry Christmas!" I'm sorry to ask again
Dear Brenda, we want to especially wish YOU the most beautiful Christmas this year! You are an amazing woman with an incredibly loving family. God bless you and we hope you get to have a little rest and relaxation this holiday!! Much love, Kris & Wesley (The Loon!) xoxox

You are the cutest “old” married couple. My husband and I banter back and forth just like you guys do. We make one another laugh so hard:)
"Old married couple.". There is no better description for these two. You were very accurate.
Sounds good, never tried before

What do think an oyster quiche done similarly would be like? Kinda like an Asian oyster omelet I guess?
😎
The onions, celery, and bell pepper is not miraqua. It’s called Cajun trinity.
Correct: Mirepoix is onions, celery, and carrots. We love the Cajun trinity, too!

Is there a too long did not watch version of this that just provides the recipe?

4:10 in and I have to turn it off. Too much of nothing.
Happy New Year! Hopefully it's full of love and compassion.
