I have only tried Turkish Delight once, during university. I was taking a course called "The Bible and the Arts" and we read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe...so naturally our professor brought in Turkish Delight for the class to sample.
I knew that too! I read the book when I was 8 & my favourite teacher recommended it to me & after that I read The Midwich Cuckoos! Brilliant book & I love to read so much 🥰
When I was a child I watched a children’s play of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” And in the play they actually had a fake turkey dinner on a platter, because everyone, including the director of the children’s play apparently, thought it was “turkey delight.” 😂
Good job! I’m Turkish and I never thought that “Lokum” could be made at home 😂 Btw, there’s some fillings you could try like hazelnut or pistachio (a.k.a the original lokum) Have fun and keep us updated please! 🎉
looks great, nice job. I tell my daughter that Turkish delight is the grandpa of todays' Haribo :) As an American-turkish person I also prefer it with lots of nuts, especially pistachios, hazelnuts etc. Hope to make it one day with the help of your video.
Turkish delights are available at any local Arab, desi, or Muslim market. Every halal meatshop would typically have it because they usually have a grocery section (just call beforehand and ask)
I love any kind of Turkish Delight, chocolate covered or the authentic stuff, the Rose and Lemon flavours are my fave, you did so well Tigga, I'm far too lazy, I'll just sit here and watch your marvellous creations, I usually hate voice-overs, they are so fake, bur yours was funny 😁 😋
A local version of Turkish delight is one of my state’s classic gift items for some reason (I’m assuming it’s just because we have a lot of apple and apricot orchards). They’re called aplets and cotlets, and they’re sold in all of the state-themed stores and kiosks at malls and the airport lol. I don’t know anyone who casually buys them, but they used to be given as gifts somewhat frequently when I was growing up.
O my mouth is watering, could smell and taste it , just watching you create this masterpiece … I loooove Turkish Delight. I am so glad I had real good Turkish Delight my first time . Some people get the bad made ones and think thats how it tastes like… I’ve had bad one’s too , now I finally got the right brands and wow.🇿🇦🌹🍋
Just want to wish you a happy birthday today on December 25th 2022. I watched your video on your birthday tree and wrote a little message about my birthday and how my experience is not the same as yours for have a Birthday close to Christmas. I believe your parents made it very clear the difference between Christmas and your birthday. You grew up knowing the difference and feeling they made it important to celebrate. Good for your parents by the way.
I always watch you videos and marvel at how professional they come off. I wonder who’s doing such a beautiful job filming. But today I got to see you in all your silliness. You are younger than my kids so I find it aisle when you get flustered. Big Hugs all around!🧸❤️ from across the pond.
I made it for the first time a few weeks ago. A rose water one and orange blossom one. It was easy but time consuming!! I also thought I didn't like turkish delight based on a chocolate bar (big turk). I made my batches for the senior residence at my place of work.
For anyone who would prefer to just order some online… there is a company in the Pacific Northwest USA called Liberty Orchards that makes what is basically Turkish delight, called aplets and cotlets. My dad used to send me some for Christmas when he lived in Seattle.
I did a factory tour there a few years back and it was amazing! I was raised on this stuff 😁. I'm not sure if they still do factory tours but it was definitely worth going to!
There's this dessert in India called bombay halwa. Exact same process, just instead of rose flavour, you use cardamom seed powder and you add ghee into it. Also, this one looks like it had the texture of jelly. Bombay halwa, on the other hand, is cooked continuously while stirring to the point that it becomes chewy instead of jelly like. You can also add watermelon seeds into it. I love the texture so much. Its almost like rubber.
OMG! I just found you channel and loved it from the second I watched your first video! I lived in AUS for a while and been missing that Aussie accent so much and it's so much fun to listen to you and see your amazing creations! So of course I had to leave an Abo 🤩🤩
I would say to anyone who has tried commercial“Turkish delight” and didn’t like it, and has thus decided that it’s not for them, to try “traditional” lokum. As you can see from this recipe, real lokum is made in an entirely different way to the weirdly textured, violently coloured commercial stuff that is usually made with gelatine, and is more like a gummy bear. Real lokum has no gelatine, and has a unique tender bite, and melt in your mouth texture. In fact lokum used to be used to soothe a sore throat. Lemon is probably the least confronting flavour, and rose the most traditional.
Omg! I love Turkish delight! When my mom read Narnia to us and read the part about Turkish delight we both wanted to have it! It is delicious and tastes like rose wich rose is my favorite! I’ve never tried to make it before but the process looks really fun!
It definitely looked like y'all were having a blast making that! I've never heard of Turkish Delights, but your video here has sold me on them. I hope sometime I get a chance to try them!
I have definitely done the "how hard can it be?" thing 😂 specifically with marshmallows. Also I didn't know Turkish delight would be so jiggly! Well done first try😊
I have tried and failed at this so many times trying to recreate some homemade TD a high school acquaintance’s Syrian friend made. It was so exceptionally good and different to the bought kind.
First time I ever heard of Turkish Delight was when I read, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." I literally thought it was chunks of turkey but couldn't understand why Edmund was so excited to eat it. Lol!
The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe cartoon aired here in the US the 1978 when I was 6. I remember thinking that chocolate cover turkey sounded disgusting. 😂
All this time I thought Turkish Delight was just pink jelly (gelatine) with powdered sugar!!! 😂 🤭 and now I find out it's not. It's basically corn starch. What!! 🤯. Delicious though 😋 😁
I made some... in a wok! I HATE rose, it tastes and smells like old ladies. It IS hard work and was pink lemonade flavor. HUGE hit. We took it to the midnight premiere of LWW
😂 The best place to try the different flavours is not surprisingly Turkey! That is where I became entranced! You can buy authentic TD imported into Aust. however.
Every creator acts unrealistically calm while baking something new and you’re just keeping it real
These girls are very Australian
I have only tried Turkish Delight once, during university. I was taking a course called "The Bible and the Arts" and we read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe...so naturally our professor brought in Turkish Delight for the class to sample.
good to know I'm not the only one who only knows about this dessert due to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe!
I knew that too! I read the book when I was 8 & my favourite teacher recommended it to me & after that I read The Midwich Cuckoos! Brilliant book & I love to read so much 🥰
That's an awesome professor!
that is not what’s it called buh okay 🤷🏾♀️
@tiny9903 - what are you talking about?
Tip - if you dust with a combination of icing sugar & cornflour (just like with marshmallows) it won’t melt into it and disappear so readily 😘
Yes I didn’t know this until the sugar went a bit wet and I googled it! 🥳
Good tip!
When I was a child I watched a children’s play of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” And in the play they actually had a fake turkey dinner on a platter, because everyone, including the director of the children’s play apparently, thought it was “turkey delight.” 😂
😂 That was me too. I didn’t understand why Edmund acted like Turkish Delight was delicious when it was made out of turkey.
That's amazing
Good job! I’m Turkish and I never thought that “Lokum” could be made at home 😂
Btw, there’s some fillings you could try like hazelnut or pistachio (a.k.a the original lokum)
Have fun and keep us updated please! 🎉
you can make any kind of gummies at home lol
Nice to know it’s chaotic for you too when making new recipes 😂 I thought it was just us newbies 😊 Great job!
You’re authentic & genuine. I love how sweet your whole show is 💖💖💖

That was way more chaotic and fun than I expected!! 😂
That chaotic moment was pretty wholesome

I LOVE Liberty Orchard!

I love the chocolate coated ones as well
This is so great! I'm going to make this for my upcoming birthday! Also LOVE your channel!
I’m so glad that I wasn’t the only one who thought of the lion witch and the wardrobe. I remember seeing it and always wanting a taste of this desert!
It was so fun to watch that I have to subscribe your channel👍❤️
These Turkish delights would look amazing and DELIGHTful as decorations on your cake
Well done! My first time making Turkish delight was a flop, I just couldn't get it to set properly so great job - it looks wonderful

You are courageous! I’ve tried making some different things at home and they don’t always turn out. Looks delicious!

Out of chaos comes a sweet result❤
Your videos make me so happy ! Thank you
I never realized how easy it is to make. 😋
Trust me…it ain’t that easy!😅😂
You need to try the Cadbury Turkish delight bar!!😘👌🏻

Wowww looks great!! can you link what recipe you used?
😂😂😂 love you girls
Try one from Cyprus if you can, it's in smaller, firmer pieces and there's one in particular with pistachio nuts which is divine!
Your channel is dangerous!!! Cannot watch when I’m hungry or craving something. Because it makes me want some😂😂😂
You guys are hilarious 😂. Your Turkish Delights look picture perfect and delicious 🤗. My fave flavors are Rose and mint.
Where do you get all those cute hair ties? I absolutely love them!
Looks great. You did a great job.
Try making Creme de Menthe ones, they’re amazing! We had them on holiday on the island of Corfu! Best thing about the whole holiday!!!
Lmfao.. my daughter heard them giggling and thought I was watching "bluey" without her.. (FYI bluey is a kids show)
I received some as a gift, my gawd, it was amazing...you inspire me! I'm going to try to make this too...
YESSSSSS rose flavour tukish delight is THE BEST🌹🌹🌹

Try watermelon flavour or black grape flavour! Double yum! 😋 🤤
Turkish delight is my FAVOURITE. You can usually find them in little corner store fruit shops.
It definitely looked like y'all were having a blast making that! I've never heard of Turkish Delights, but your video here has sold me on them. I hope sometime I get a chance to try them!

I really like it too
I love Fry's turkish delights. But then ive never met a TD i didnt love.
Me too. At Christmas though somebody always gets me a box of the authentic Turkish Delight which lasts right through January. Delish😊.
Lemon is nice too. Also drizzle a little of your favourite flavour choccy over yuuuuum x
A year later and this video is still so funny! And it makes me want Turkish delight still! ❤
You can add so many different things to the mix before you put it to set over night, nuts, and most famous pistachio 💚🤌🏻
I have definitely done the "how hard can it be?" thing 😂 specifically with marshmallows. Also I didn't know Turkish delight would be so jiggly! Well done first try😊
i am turkish and everythime i go to turkey i have turkish delight with turkish tea and its o good!
i mean so lol
I have tried and failed at this so many times trying to recreate some homemade TD a high school acquaintance’s Syrian friend made. It was so exceptionally good and different to the bought kind.
I also felt the same because my only experience was Fry’s chocolate bar. Then I went to Turkey and experienced the real thing!
First time I ever heard of Turkish Delight was when I read, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." I literally thought it was chunks of turkey but couldn't understand why Edmund was so excited to eat it. Lol!
Turkish delight have a wierd taste to it that makes it amazing imo. They smell very good too.
I only know of Turkish Delight from the Lion, Witch, Wardrobe books. I would love to try your kind that doesn’t taste like soap.
You are so awesome
I love your shorts and videos, random question though - where did the name Tigga Mac come from?!
Tegan Maccormack is my name! Tigga Mac
Ive only ever had the frys turkish delight chocolate bar and its one of my favs ....
I keep checking your website for those cute headbands! I’m bound and determined to get one! ❤
Edmund would a prove 😉😌
Never had it but it is so pretty I want to taste it.
The panic got real with the CHECK THE RECIPE!!!! 😂
I was today years old when I learned that Turkish delight isn't just thick set jelly.
❤😊
You too have made my day!😂
I found a recipe using gelatin. I played with flavors one Christmas for gift giving. It gets easier with more practice.
Hard work. I do love Fry’s though
"I'm going to do it slowly...its only burning hot sugar" 😆😆😆
The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe cartoon aired here in the US the 1978 when I was 6. I remember thinking that chocolate cover turkey sounded disgusting. 😂
Noooo! Not fairy bread and not Fry's Chocolate Turkish Delight? 😭 I love them both so much!! 😁
All this time I thought Turkish Delight was just pink jelly (gelatine) with powdered sugar!!! 😂 🤭 and now I find out it's not. It's basically corn starch. What!! 🤯. Delicious though 😋 😁
There are some recipes for Turkish delight that use huge amounts of gelatin too
Rose and pistachio are my fave. Lemon can so one!
Lemon is the best imo ❤
Apple and apricot is good too
I made some... in a wok! I HATE rose, it tastes and smells like old ladies. It IS hard work and was pink lemonade flavor. HUGE hit. We took it to the midnight premiere of LWW
Ohh it’s lokum or ratluk 🤤 I looove it with walnut ❤
Next time try orange flower water & pistachios. Yum
😂 The best place to try the different flavours is not surprisingly Turkey! That is where I became entranced! You can buy authentic TD imported into Aust. however.
