It's not a good technique. There is another far superior. I've never seen more than 1 technique covered in a video and there are so many, yet the best one is always missed.
The first thing you should try is to get out of the headlock. This is actually a last resort method for when you can get out, but he can't take you down. As the person giving the headlock, your goal is to bring it to the ground and get the other guys back. The guy in the headlock is trying to not be in a headlock. Also as the guy giving the headlock you should not be using an over hand grip, with your free arm. You should be lo king it is and pulling with your hooked arm because it is stronger and actually under tension. Pulling with you free arm does nothing basically as it doesn't know it's trying to squeeze a dude because it's just hanging around. .
I did a similar move when that happened to me and the person had a knife in his pocket so with the situation I started punching his balls,I got out of the head lock and he was in too much pain to grab his knife and was in too much pain to get up and chase after me.
👍 great video. For training purposes, we always use the analogy of pretending that we are standing at a parade with our families and someone comes up and attacks us. And then we do our techniques from there.👍👍👍
Its scary. I live in Australia and just in the last 1 month 2 woman were killed one just walking minding her own business going for a run. I need to go learn these skills to protect myself. The world is gone too many creeps out there now
2 people being killed out of 26 million in a month is statistically negligible. Checking out the statistics, Australia seems to be on par with the EU/European countries (e.g. Germany, Netherlands, Austria, etc. though a few countries are a bit better). Your perception seems to be distorted by the news. Also, you will not be able to defend yourself with techniques like this against a stronger man. Martial arts can help with self defense for women too, but it's mostly about situational awareness, reaction and mindset. Oh, well, and it takes *a lot* of practice/training. And constant training. It's not worth it if you are not interested in the art/sport itself.
Coming from a Jiu-Jitsu background I really like this headlock defense. It's a little different to the one I'm accustomed to, and I like having multiple options to defend myself in case one fails or the person knows how and is fast enough to stop or counter it
Good tip, I say learning how to get out of any type of head locks should be one of the first things a person should learn about fighting. its super important because it's a very common submission move that almost everyone naturally uses in a fight and it is very effective and hard to get out of if you don't have any idea of how to escape it. so you definitely don't wanna fall prey to anyone who uses it on you especially if there really strong because if they put your lights out it's over for you especially in a street fight. And you don't wanna know what your opponent will do to you once your out cold like that, they could pretty much do anything to you at that point because you will be completely unconscious and thats no bueno for you gents.
Really? As a former wrestler who also trains jiu-jitsu I completely disagree. There is zero control of the opponent. This is Rex kowndo crap. "Break the wrist, walk away"
Escaping a headlock involves a few key steps: Stay Calm: Don't panic; keep a clear head to assess the situation.Control the Arm: Use your hands to control the arm that's around your head. This will prevent your opponent from tightening their grip.Lower Your Center of Gravity: Bend your knees and lower your center of gravity to make it harder for your opponent to maintain control.Create Space: Use your free arm to push against your opponent's face or neck, creating space between your head and their body.Rotate Your Body: Turn your body towards the side where your opponent's arm is wrapped around your head.Counterattack: Once you've created enough space, swiftly counterattack by striking or grappling your opponent to regain control of the situation. Practicing these steps with a partner or under the guidance of a qualified instructor is essential for mastering headlock escapes
Thank you! Not opposing his training, but also, I was trained to take your right leg and swing it forward through the middle of your opponent’s legs, rolling in, while simultaneously grabbing onto his waist.
Awesome. We teach the same escape. Some varieties we use are reaching up and under the nose and or the neck to pull down as opposed to the shoulder. Causing that extra discomfort is very effective. Keep spreading the knowledge 🙏🏿 💯 🥋
In Judo the guy with the headlock is in the ideal position for a hip throw (Koshi Guruma) and the guy underneath is in position for a reversal (Tani Otoshi) no lifting required in case he's not 120 pounds ☝
A friend's friend died this way. He was on leave from the army and two lads grabbed him. The first put him in a head lock the second repeatedly punched him in the head causing a bleed on the brain and eventual death.
To the person who liked my comment. 'Dave Curnow' was his name. The news article is easy enough to find. The footage has been taken down but what it showed is Dave being put into a head lock from behind , then the other attacker hitting and chasing off Dave's friend later to return to Dave who is throwing himself around trying to get out of the head lock while being struck by the first attacker. The second individual joins the assault, after several blows to the head Dave then goes limp, at which point they strike him while he lay on the floor, I believe. This not long after he returned from a tour of... IRAQ? Brutal stuff, I'm glad it was taken down.
Upperslap the balls here really works. Even if it doesnt fully hurt, the reflex will make the agressor lose his lock to defend his parts.
My old kickboxing trainer always used to say this, Bas Rutten always used to say this:
In a streetfight, go straight for the balls if possible.
Good ol “squeeze and twist” ❤
The balls doesn't matter with adrenaline, the brain on the other hand stays vulnerable to a hit in the chin
Exactly! There's no time for any bjj rolling on the floor. Someone could come and kick you in the head.

Probably the best video about headlock I have ever seen!

@@Selfdefensegoat just curious, would pinching their thigh with your index and middle knuckles work in getting out of the head lock?

Utter bollocks.
first headlock looks personal :D
bcs headlocks irl are soft and gentle arent they?
Hahahahah it did
Too personal 😂😂

and stronger than the last one
This technique seems easy, but you should do the demonstration with another subject who has the same height and weight.
Exactly my thoughts. Easy to apply against a smaller guy. Not so much with someone bigger.

I love how he was so eager to get you in a headlock you had to tell him to relax lol until you finished explaining lol 😂

I either grab a hand full of balls & twist or i go for the eyeballs. Works Every time!

@frederickweeksjr.1189 well thanks to MMA over the last 30 years we know what works and what doesn't. This...doesn't!
Thank you for your point, but understand that it's subject to each individual. NO ONE person fights the same which is why you PREPARE FOR ANYTHING.
@frederickweeksjr.1189 this technique doesn't have the control to overcome strength hence its a gimmick. Works in theory not n reality
Short and smooth 😊
Thanks Bro, very simple and was demonstrated perfectly...😊
There's no need for violence!
I'm sure if you just ask the attacker nicely to let you go, they would. 😳
I have another way out ?
As he grabs you head , turn ur chin in to his RIBS , THE more he squeeze the more pain for him . Try it ..... 🙏
Unless they are drunk or on PCP
Then you have a totally different scenario ? P .C, P . DRINK 💥 💯 👍

sometimes just relax as the attacker has to suddenly take all your weight, good chance they could let go so they don't fall
Thank you so much! Very perfect !!!
There's also always the good ol', reliable "grab, twist, pull" option.
