- Former defence secretary Liam Fox has said that people have moved on from Rishi Sunak's D-Day mistake, but the media are still talking about it.
He says the election needs to focus on the "big issues", including the fact that "we are in a crisis".
Mr Fox added: "These are the serious issues. This is not a cartoon election, it is a real dangerous world we live in and the public want us to deal with the real issues."

Get the Tories OUT.
Labour are not an alternative either. It’s funny how they become listening when it’s an election.
I'm still fuming about the tax lie and the d day excuse and the fact Sunak won't answer questions. No I won't get over it. I'm over the lying, self serving Tories and their corrupt practices.
Just another misjudgement how many more.
"please 5 more years"
"pockets not full yet"
Urgh liebour 😮😮😮
@@steffanjennyburrup5801 hardly though or explain what they have lied about atleast
Goodbye 👋 everyone ....Happy voting
The usual arrogant, deluded Tory.
Why has this disgraced MP been wheeled out to defend Sunak?
Cos there was no non-disgraced MP’s willing to defend him. Slim pickings these days
These days he's an intellectual and moral giant in today's Tory party.
It’s his turn.
Didn't he save on expenses by sharing a hotel room with his researcher Mr verity ???😂😂😂
What Tory MP hasn't been disgraced they have very little options left
I haven’t moved on. I also haven’t moved on from everything else Sunak, Truss, Johnson and Tories as a whole have done to us and this country.
I love it when Tories tell me what I can get upset about and for how long.
Tories are toast.
Listening to Liam Fox attempt to dismiss Rishi Sunak's absence from the D-Day ceremonies as inconsequential is an insult to those who gave their all for their nation. Disgraceful!
Trudeau didn't attend the US event on the beach where only US troops landed either - so odd... And Biden didn't attend the UK event on the beach where UK troops landed - so odd - And Biden and Sunak did not attend the beach where Canadian troops landed - so odd. Prince William did attend the Canada event and David Cameron did attend the US event.
Translation : _"Stop talking about D-Day, we need to crack on with the fearmongering"_
Your wrong Fox, d day is not being forgotten or forgiven.....no chance Tory boy.
People have moved on from Rishi Sunak and the Tory Party in general.
This "mistake" was first of all hugely disrespectful and secondly incredibly, totally and obviously stupid politically. Can a country tranquilly have a PM who is so politically stupid even if it ignores the disrespect, which it should not?
After 14 years of lying, sleaze, and lying some more, they’re going to put it all right now.
How marvellous they are!
Get the Tories out.
The sheer arrogance and dismissiveness is absolutely oozing out of this creep.
Another tory telling me how I think...vote em out on July 4th.
The country has moved on from Fox, a disgraced politician nobody wants to see again. The country also has moved on from Tories, the party that never has the people in mind.
Rubbish!! The tories are a hand up, labour is a hand out
The Conservatives cut the Army from 113,000 in 2010 to 73,000.
The Government’s defence plans reduced the size of the regular Army from a commitment of 82,000 troops to 73,000 by 2025 - down from 97,000 a decade ago.
Data released in March 2024 showed that numbers were at 75,325

Never mind. They're going to beef up the numbers with 30,000 temps and they'll probably put them on zero hours contracts as well.
Defense is important he says, look at what he was up to when he was in charge of defense !!
They've moved on from the tories and want them out. He can't be that deluded.
we want to move on from these useless tory crooks.
Sunak is disgrace.
No we haven’t. It was disgraceful.
Listen to more tory bullshit
Missing DDay is the least of bad things Conservatives have done
Working hours and hours for minimum wage or less if the employer can wangle it and then not being able to pay your bills and say is not good for anyone.
The D-Day debacle displays to the public how patriotic Sunak is, and the public will remeber that.
Unpatriotic is the word. No one should be surprised.
"I don't know. It's so much easier just to answer the question." Proceeds to not answer question.
No. No we're not. We haven't forgotten D-Day and we'll never forget this. How dare a man who is only here and in his position because of the sacrifices made tells us to get over it.
No they haven't, just because he says it doesn't make it so
If security is so important, why did Sunak walk away from a meeting with biden, Maceon and Schultz?
Zelensky was there too.
Er no we haven’t he needs to explain what was so important for him to leave early
No. People have it in their memory.
Nope - people certainly won’t forget.
Sunak is a wimp🤣🤣
Or to give him his full title, the disgraced former defence secretary, Dr Liam Fox.
D-Day commemoration is trivia? And if there are genuine security and defense issues then Sunak had the perfect opportunity to meet with other world leaders at the D-Day commemoration and discuss these issues.
Sorry Liam but DDay is a big point for all of us.
Time has exposed a lot of these people.
Barnard Castle, Partygate, Test and Trace, Zahawi's tax 'oversight', Truss, DDay - the list goes on - we're always being told to 'move on' from something. Strange then that the Tories couldn't bring themselves to 'move on' from the Rayner non story.
That's different she was a working class single mother who had the cheek to take advantage of a Tory policy and buy her council house, like thousands of others and sell it for a profit. Getting above her class.
I quite agree, it's a circus and they are clowns.
Where will Rishi's resignation lectern be set up tomorrow?
Didn’t he take his rent boy on tour at tac payers expense …?
Get sunak in the hot seat and make him tell the truth about d day and all the other lies he as told that is if he as not done a moon light flip
Tory boy 😂 let’s not talk about d day 😂 let’s talk about a war that isn’t happening but it’s ok to move on from d day because those heroes are already dead and forgotten?
Rishi must have been watching "The World at War" series, so far its on the Operation Barberossa episode.
California hear I come
Starmer stays pays respects to our falken heros, sunak leaves doesn't pay respects to our servicemen, vile sunak.
No we've not
Nothing should have been put in the PM's diary on June 6, such was the importance of the commemoration.
How was anything else inserted into that day's engagements, former minister?
He literally had nothing. He planned to miss the ceremony to do... nothing. That's why he had a slot available for ITN interview.
That's why he arranged the interview for that time.
ITV didn't organise it - they took what was offered by the Tory campaign.
@hypsyzygy506 up til that point he just had 'cry and hug myself' in his diary...
Why is a man whose actions were labelled as a "security risk" given time on air?
Let’s focus on everything but how useless the PM is
I used to vote Tory before realising how they abused their position as temporary custodians of parliamentary
powers by doing what they had no mandate or right to do - place Parliament at the behest of foreign influence
via the EU - a situation that has shown no sign of stopping, with no proper follow-up to Brexit when it happened,
no sign of taking the steps necessary to protect the sea-girt borders and security of the Realm, and raising taxes to
levels that make the eyes water whilst paying billions in benefits and accommodation for unchecked
uninvited migrants..They have proved to be the bringers of betrayal to Britain. Farage speaks when others
lack the courage. Fox off!
Isn't that the freak that sacked those two policeman - for doing their job?
BECAUSE THEY ARE LIAR,S.
WELL THERE ARE NO JOB,S ADVERTISED IN THE JOB CENTRE,S.
Tory candidate canvassing in the street today, its a safe seat hasn't changed hands in 47 yrs. Her husband knocked on my door looking beaten! When i said id not be voting for his wife or her party he didn't look surprised at all. Undestood my reasons one of which was that she didn't represent her constituents but represented the tory party, the party of attacking minorities and punishing them with ever greater threats.
I almost felt sorry for him.
In 12 years of living in this house its the first time a tory representative has knocked on the door. They are worried!
Tory playbook: time to resort to scaremongering.
Its not a cartoon election, the problem is we've had multiple Tory cartoon prime ministers and look at where it has got us! The problem is the Tory's cannot run on their record, they run from it!
We need a serious discussion about the future of this country and Sunak telling lies about Labour tax plans is pathetic. This from a party that has introduced 26 tax rises.
Oh no we haven't!
We haven't forgotten about his little middle-eastern excursion, either.
He says the election needs to focus on the "big issues", including the fact that "we are in a crisis". What he doesn't admit is that the Conservative government are largely responsible for the crisis we face.
Not heard much about this threat, they seem the obsessed with the number 2000.
Standard response from Tories, "the country has moved on" utter bollocks!
I have most definitely moved on from his self focused scuttle back to the UK. Not so much the unnecessary tax I have been and will be paying for decades because of the hole the 'Government of Fiscal Responsibility' blew in the UK economy 0_o
I don't think so.I am more angry now.
Words and actions are under analysis and our scepticism is quite justified.
Oh such knowledge. Such understanding. Never forget the Tory have reduced spending on every department. Sunak was just to stupid not to realise just how bad this decision was. His advisors had no idea the decision was bad. Liam Fox has also failed to talk about just how bad every Tory PM has delivered.
I'm voting for count binface he's more professional then sunak.
Remember the Queen siting alone at her husband's funeral as your Tory chums had parties? Well we do and there will be a reckoning on the 4th of July for that one too.
liam fox lies yet again. no shock.
give him his proper title at least. Disgraced former defense secretary.
British soldiers at D-Day landing: We're going home early 'cos we've got some things to be doing. Don't concern yourself about it - just move on.
NO...MISS...JUDGMENT ....HE WAS TRYING TO COVER UP HIS LIE,S.
He doesn't think Farage is a bad man????? Ridiculous
I'm NOT moving on pal, and neither is anyone else!
Yes Liam everyone has moved on from Sunak's D Day mistake. They have moved on from Sunak full stop.
They have moved on from BS and lies too
Not so much a ‘cartoon election’ as a total clown show!
Rishi rushed home to catch one of Putin’s missiles……that’s the story being peddled by Liam ‘easiest deal in history’ Fox.
They haven't.
Liam Fix….Thats not a slip ….. Now scaremongering on top of the lying!
Another Brexit seller 🦄 🦄 🦄
Cartoon government ? And they talk with this muppet.
When he talks about the pandemic, and then looks down to his right, and then into the distance trying to remember what to say, now the truth has come out, and wondering why people do not listen to these clowns anymore it is because people are waking up to these people.
They only come out to speak to us when they want something from us, and many want a seat in the House of Lords or an honour title to keep the cream coming.
What everyone needs to do, is ignore them by having no business with them.
I don't have ears, I don't listen
No we haven’t nor will forget!
No D day is an issue. The Tories upset with the media
Brexit. The easiest deal in human history. Let us not forget. Famous words from Liam Fox.
get out
It's about having things more localised and organic. It used to make me laugh how 'greens' used to be for sourcing foods locally and cutting down on the distance things needed to be transported, in order to reduce CO2. But all of this gets abandoned when it comes to sourcing labour locally. The further away people come from, the better. But then, they're not even for a localised economy now.
They haven’t at all.
The people have moved on from Sunak!
He said what the problem with avoiding questions was. Then he avoided the question in exactly that way. Unless the interviewer asks the most important question there will be something more important. Answer this and we can move on.
Vote reform
Love it when they tell us what to think
Fear fear fear! When he says we are in a crisis, I’d like to how? Who put us there? Was it the people of the UK that got us involved in all of the geopolitical problems.
Ah covid
Liam Fox was a totally
Ineffective Drip
Like all the Tories
Liam: Priorities matter.
Rishi: Priorities ?
Whose priorities? Tory donors'?
He said what the problem with avoiding questions was. Then he avoided the question in exactly that way. Unless the interviewer asks the most important question there will be something more important. Answer this and we can move on.
We don’t understand how much the pandemic effected people? It effected me dramatically less than the government’s response, that was horrendous.
Get the Tory’s out
This is the guy who broke protocol to invite his business partner to private international meetings on government business. It might have been the scandal of the decade when it emerged but another news story broke the next day and he was let off by journalists. It is still unknown to what extent, if any, they made money out of it.
What a load of tosh!! Using the race card when there was nothing said about race.
The entire opposition which worries more about saving hammass than serving UK, is trying to blow it up.
