Too many American's try Vegemite the wrong way and are turned off it for life. Watch as I demonstrate how Americans should eat it. Aussie's can handle the flavour so much more.

Soft. Spoon is fine. Should be more like the Milo video 🤣
Fixit Fingers 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am Aussie but eat my Vegemite like an American, on barely toasted bread with a Butter to Vegemite ration of 4:1 and, I eat it upside down so that I get the flavour on my taste buds.
American here, just got back from vacation in New Zealand and brought a jar of Vegemite with me. I just tried it for the first time - your video showed me the way (Aussie amount) and it was great!!! Thank you!!!
Great news mate, if you try it wrong it may put you off for life. Hahaha
Please teach me now how to drink water
🤣🤣
Just got to try Vegemite for the first time a couple of weeks ago, had to order it from Amazon! Love it! I like it the aussie way!
Thats awesome mate, Its really good on toast if you have a hangover too
Don’t put as much butter on, good on ya.( I’m Aussie)
@@crucheshire446 same but for me it tastes bad and didnt realize i did it wrong
That's cozvthe aussie way is the proper way
I’m all for a darker toast but the back of that piece of toast is cremated. Also I can’t do cold toast, melted butter is the way to go.
Haha, it went cold while I was filming.. haha
I live in Michigan and just bought my first jar of Vegemite. I really like it a lot!!
Thats awesome, not many Americans like it. haha
Thanks for the video! I wanted to know how to eat Vegemite properly. I just tried it for the first time and it is good!
I'm American and I love to try food from different cultures. So many people say that Vegemite tastes bad but I immediately liked it; maybe because I'm half Dutch and am therefore more used to eating food that is not as sweet.
It is the opposite of sweet, maybe thats why most americans don't like it. haha
Double Dutch liqorice is my favourite
I'm American and bought a jar online. Lather it on!!! Toast, butter, 'Mite, some sharp cheddar chopped up 🔥
Ohhhhhh yes, the cheese gives it some great flavor
Great vídeo and many thanks. Yes, Vegemite is very special and for me it’s the best ! If you are in Brazil, you can find a very similar yeast extract product with the name of Cenovit ! Give a try and you will be surprise about the excellent taste of Cenovit. And since now vou can easier get a yeast extract in Brazil, São Paulo, you can abuse and use it in your recipes ... beside using it on a buttery toast ! So enjoy the new Cenovit in Brazil.
Sounds interesting, it would be great in a Bolognese sauce.
Just remember America Vegemite isn't like Nutella or peanut butter it's made from yeast abstract al you need is just a little bit bit NOT a whole big teaspoon or tablespoon
I'm from Germany and always wanted to try Vegemite because it's so iconic. I thought nothing of it and made a toast sandwich with just Vegemite, and a lot of it. I really questioned if you guys down under are insane. But I gave it a second try just like shown in the video and I actually like it :)
Awesome mate, it really needs to be used as shown. Sometimes too much isn’t good for any tastebuds haha
Thanks. My first jar will be here in 5 days.
That’s awesome, I’m having some for Breakie as I type this.
Nice editing bro :)
American as apple pie and armalites here, I like it semi light, but its really not bad. Somewhere in the middle of beer and mushrooms
I’m about to do this!!!🎉
Delicious
Well done, sir! Well done indeed!
Thank you! Cheers!
I'm half way through my first jar of Marmite (I like it a lot) so I decided to try Vegemite too. Arriving this afternoon. Dang it, America! costs too much over here! Anyway I love Marmite on grilled cheese sandwiches so maybe Vegemite will enhance those as well.
I enjoy Vegemite more than Marmite, but thats maybe due to being brought up with Vegemite?
Tried it, and Vegemite is great too. Now I eat both every day. 😀@@AnAussieinAmerica
@2:41 🤣 Craig, you're hilarious!
🤣🤣
Statesman from the Midwest here. I can eat Vegemite straight from the jar it's so good
Ohhhhh a rare breed
I'm an Aussie - I bought Marmite yesterday, must try it out. 😁
Later, Marmite tastes quite similar to Vegemite. Which is better? I don't know. 😎
I like Vegemite over Marmite. Not sure why, maybe because I've grown up with Vegemite.
@@AnAussieinAmerica Try Bovril. It contains 50% beef extract.
Why is the toast black on the back? Need a new toaster I think, also I like that Aldi brand butter
Yeah, I over did the toast.. haha
@@AnAussieinAmerica Sonofa.. 💪😼
Is Vegemite the name of the condiment itself, or is it the name of the brand?
It’s the name of the product. It’s made by the Kraft company
Thanks sirrrrrrrr
I lost a dare and had to eat a spoon full of it. That was an experience.
🤣🤣 that’s not a good way to eat it, even for an Aussie. 🤣🤣
Eeeewwww this Aussie hates Vegemite, it's Promite for me. Lots of butter on just browned toast, not too dark. In all honesty, very occasionally I do have the very thinnest scraping of Vegemite on toast - an attempt to train the tastebuds lol. Never by the spoonful your response is accurate. We have clever bread spins itself into the toaster. Nice!!
Love my Vegemite, Promite Ewwwwwww
LOVE a Vegemite sanga!
People in USA can’t stand it. I think it’s because it’s the opposite of sweet/sugar.. haha
How much yeast you like?
🤣🤣
Did the burnt toast make it taste better?
Hahaha, no, that was my error.... I love Vegemite.
Does Vegemite taste like bread yeast but salty?
Not at all mate, Its a little salty, not sweet. however I've never actually eaten bread yeast..
This is the only thing I know about Vegemite, from a song from my childhood. And I had to look it up as an adult because I had no clue what the words meant then or as an adult.
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said
I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover, yeah
Ah yes, Men at Work's "Down Under"! Sadly Men at Work had to pay royalties for plagiarizing another song from my childhood: Kookaburra!
"Kookaburra sits on the railroad track, along came a train and knocked him flat.
Poor Kookaburra, poor Kookaburra, that's the end of that."
What a terrible song to teach children!
Hahaha, I have never heard that rendition of the Kookaburra song.
Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!
That advice about bolognese has me intrigued...
It’s delicious. Try it, and let me know.
Wonder how it would work in something like instant noodles?
Do you also make your toast black
depends how you like your toast lol
-an aussie
That must be some pretty strong stuff, huh? I've never had it, but I haven't really heard anything too good about it from other Americans who have.
Americans have a sweet tooth by nature, Vegemite has a salty flavor to it. Thats the main reason, But when I see you mate, I'll make sure to have some with me for you. :)
@michael jakata a spoonful is sure to make even the strongest gag
@@AnAussieinAmerica Nah it's not the saltiness that puts the Yanks off. They love both sweet and salty to unhealthy degrees. It's the bitterness. Same reason so many hate certain vegetables (aside from not knowing how to prepare them properly) like Brussel sprouts, broccoli, spinach, etc. I've eaten stuff local to NA here that taste like they used water from the Dead Sea as an ingredient (especially egregious with the salted butters and ready-made soups) yet so many would say the taste was "good" or "excellent" and I'm just forced to realize they have absolutely no concept of flavour balance.
Hahahaha, very true
@@HenshinFanatic
Ok. As a non Australian, i grew up eating vegemite but never in it's pure form with toast. I grew up by eating it with soft boiled eggs. M I the crazy one?
Ohhhh I’ve never heard the soft boiled egg recipe
@@AnAussieinAmerica try it and see if you enjoy it.
hey nice video
do they eat Vegemite everyday ? why?
does ti healthy ?
Mostly daily, its great for a quick breakfast, or nice and easy for school lunches. Its also an awesome addition to Spag Bol sauce.
@@AnAussieinAmerica thank u!!!!!!!!!!
Easy, Vegemite is high in Vitamin B.
@@suej9329 really??
@@easy4978 yes - an aussie
could the burned toast make it tasted better?
Maybe, but i'm not a fan of burnt toast. haha
It seems to be like "Marmite" in britain. I just loooooooooooooooove it !
I tried to make friends taste it, they completely refused ;)
In France we had, and still have, something similar but with meat-extracts. It is called "Viandox". We use that in sauces or in soups. It was popular in the 1980's.
🤣🤣 my friends in USA have refused it also…. It’s similar to Marmite, but sooo much better… hehe
@@AnAussieinAmerica 👍🤣
Why is your toast cold the butter didn't even melt
I’m filming alone, haha, I can’t do seven things at once. 🤣🤣 yeah, the toast went cold..
No!! American amount is half a jar. U.K (Lover of Marmite/Vegemite/Bovril.
Americans hate Vegemite. I’ve tried marmite, but it’s not as good as the Aussie counterpart 🤣🤣
why does the back of the toast look so burnt?
Because it was in the toaster too long 😂😂
@@AnAussieinAmerica haha you were hiding it pretty well,
Australians: Pro Vegemite eaters who don’t add too much due to common sense.
Americans: eat a whole spoon fool of Vegemite with no crumpets, no toast, absolutely nothing to resist the strength of it.
Hahaha, this is all too true. Americans really think its like chocolate, until the spoon hits their mouth. hahaha
@@AnAussieinAmerica yep, apparently it looks like Nutella to them
I got it tried it not for me tastes like nothing I ever tried before
🤣🤣 it’s an acquired taste. Good on ya mate for giving it a go.
Black toast jumpscare
🤣🤣 IKR… I should have turned the toaster down.
I love vegemite, but I' m from marmite land. vegemite is just stronger marmite. Fucking love the shit.
Hahaha it is delicious
My favorite thing to do is i toast bread put butter vegemite then banana on top
sounds delicious
it's not alright.
It’s delicious
Yeah nah. Toast was too cold, it needs to melt the butter, and the bread was over toasted.
I agree with you, but its hard to make a video and keep the toast warm, hahaha
I have at least 5x that amount.
Spoken like a true Aussie… I’m trying to get people to like it, not blow their heads off… as it is, I’ve only met one USA person who actually liked it. 🤣🤣
I what Americans try it and they always use way to much. Use heaps of butter and a smidgen of vegemite or marmite. BTW Marmite is better than Vegemite😜
Ohhhhhh them are fighting words… haha, you must be a Pommy… only English like Marmite.. 🤣🤣
@@AnAussieinAmerica nah I'm talking nz Marmite the real stuff🤣
Ewwwwwww hahaha 🤣
You damned that toast to hell
Don’t listen folks, PILE it on!
Hahahaha
I like no butter and at least a table spoon of veggiemight
Ohhhhhh you like it strong. haha
Going in dry, you little devil.
Gotta say mate, u should remake this video. U blew it with all the talking and missed the window to butter it while the toast is hot and melts the butter
Great idea mate, I also burn't the toast too. hahahaha
To be honest I love Marmite, but I decided to give Vegemite a try, and show love to Aussies because Australians love USA more compared to the Brits. Brits have a tendency to trash the USA, and talk about things they know nothing about.
Aussies do like American's... even if we laugh at them sometimes. hehehe
The Brits, or at least the English, love to have a go at any other country. It’s part of their culture. Most of the time it’s in good fun and appreciate having it thrown back at them.
I wish they sold this in America.
Amazon - I have a link in my description
A very stingy amount of Vegemite on that burnt piece of toast if you ask me.
Hahaha, I too love a good amount of Vegemite, more than what I show, however, I don't want to turn new players off it, so, easing them into it is the key.
@@AnAussieinAmerica I buy the three-pack of 220 g jars from Amazon and enjoy using it to flavor pasta, beans, and rice.
@@jag5316 I love it in Spaghetti Bolognaise sauce too. Yum
