    Tucker just wanted to commend you on your cross country planning. Been a commercial pilot, aircraft owner for many years...Hell been flying for 35 years and skydiving for 37 and only recently picked up paramotoring. Haven't seen but only one other Para-motor pilot discuss airspace (Shane Denherder) in videos...due miss the Motor Minute videos. Your discussions concerning Restricted Airspace, Class B, C or D airspaces and showing how they are planned in your route, weather, winds, appropriate airports for fuel, and or gas stations along your route is very informative. Damn Good Job Bro...I think your are setting a good example for many in this sport. Keep those videos coming, this not so old guy is enjoying them.

      Channing Burton thanks for commenting on the very thing I was thinking. Did you think he maybe forced it a bit ? Sketch weather mechanical issues? Just seems like an event such as this makes young males make poor choices? Then again it’s usually the young who pioneer new inventions. Basically I’m looking for an excuse not to do this but IT LOOKS SO DAMN COOL 😎. THANKS 🙏

    I cant believe I missed this until 3 days ago, now I cant get enough!! I'm 70 years old now, with a pacemaker, I really regret not getting into Paramotoring 25 years ago when I first learned of it. Moral of the story : life is short play hard, and dont put off till "someday" what you can start today!

      I'm 78. Just do it! Still scuba, learning my EUC, I will see about a paramotor next year if/when I move to FL. Owned a Cessna 150 years ago. The more you do, the more you can do. I hear people say, "I'm too old", that means they're just waiting to die.😀Oh yeah, I'm learning how to use emojis in my texts now, too.😁

    Rarely have I seen any videos on UA-cam that motivate me to get excited about watching someone find simple things - like a pilot's lounge with a couch to sleep on, a coffee machine, sink and toilet, etc. I never thought that would turn into such an adventure, but it has. Then there are the not-so-simple things like plotting a landing spot and then dropping out of the sky onto 25-30 feet of space. Quite an adventure! : )

    I think this video really expresses the challenge, exhausting conditions, and mechanical conditions that all you guys faced and I hope it really puts it into perspective for all the FB Dot-watchers that followed the Icarus this year. I know when I strap on my motor and reserve and clip into my wing here at a measly 400' MSL it is always a tricky no-wind launch. Hats off to you and the others that participated, you guys and gal all did stellar.

    Don't know if you've already done one like this, but if not you should do a video on paramotor engine maintenance. Like, what was it that didn't get maintained that caused your issues on day 3 and 4? What could you have done to prevent it, if anything, and what should paramotor folks keep an eye out for on their own flights?

      I agree, completing this race affirms the Scout's durability and capability and will boost sales. That alone in my opinion is deserving of a complimentary Scout for Tucker, as his may be nearing its end of life baring a complete rebuild. Tucker shouldn't be flying with a duct taped Scout in his future videos.

      That light is installed in police vehicles. They usually switch between white and red light modes. Red for seeing at night without killing your night vision. Anyway, its an old corn vic police interceptor. That why that report writing light is there. And this is an excellent series of videos. Great adventure Tucker. Life long memories in the making.

    Tucker, I have been following your dedication for this race. I have to say you are a trooper to put up with the struggles that it takes to do this. I flew yesterday and thought how tough it would be flying in something like that. You are spending a day doing what I could do in a couple of hours in enclosed comfort. Please be careful out there. If your engine quits, you will be miles from nowhere. I would hate to see you stranded without any way to get help.

    It is scary how much I look forward to these videos :) Anyway, good to see you settle into the daily grind of the race. In the previous videos it looked like it was taking a toll on you mentally. In this video, you had a rough night of sleep, worn out body, sketchy weather, terrain issues, potential for the scout to die on you at any time, etc. and it looked like you were able to take it in stride and keep calm. It feels like if all of this had happened in day 2 or 3 you would have had a much harder time with it. Looking back on it did you notice a difference? Awesome insight as always.

    Be careful Tucker, get that clutch and motor straightened out asap. Ya don't want to have to crash land on top of an 11,000 foot mountain. Lol. Two strokes can be so temperamental. Do they make a nice compact, lightweight 4 stroke motor for those paramotors yet?? It seems like 4 stroke motors have replaced most 2 strokes these days. Weed wackers, outboard boat engines, dirt bikes, etc. Everything seems to be 4 stroke now. Quieter, better on fuel, more reliable, and no mixing fuel!!

    • @TheSqeeek
      @TheSqeeek 7 років тому +2

      Looks like there are a couple of 4 stroke motors now, but the issue is usually weight/thrust if I understand correctly.

      @chayes954r 7 років тому +3

      Roland Anderson ...ohhh, ook, I don't know anything about paramotors really, but I know a lot about small engines. If only Honda made an engine for paramotors, it would be AWESOME

    • @TheTomkat13
      @TheTomkat13 7 років тому +2

      Born to ride running that leaded fuel probably fouled his plug. Hopefully Tucker carries extra plugs. I’m sure there are 4 stroke motors that will work fine for paramotors. Maybe like an 80cc with a CVT. But in a sport where weight is everything that 2 stroke weight savings would be super nice.

    • @chayes954r

      Husky Tom ... Ahh, yes I hope he carries spare plugs too. And true, two strokes are so light. I know that on modern 4 stroke dirt bikes, they use a lot of titanium and other alloys in the engines to make the new bikes super light, and the new technology makes them WICKED fast compared to the old 4 strokes of the 80's and 90's. Hopefully this technology gets used soon on the smaller engines like the ones on paramotors. Those engines are so loud.

      @TheSqeeek 7 років тому +2

      Between the valvetrain, oiling system, etc of a 4 stroke - and then considering you only produce power every other piston stroke - it's pretty hard to beat a 2 stroke for reliable cheap power when it's this small. I'd prefer a 4 stroke myself but they just don't seem like they're there yet. Maybe a high compression 4 stroke on an ultralight where you're not running with it strapped to your back, but I think these are going to be stuck to 2 stroke for a while.

    In 2018 the Icarus race was all we discussed with our pilot flying us in our plane from Tucson to Mesquite... It was an interesting discussion and I think it was after you had won and landed in Mesquite--that's how we all knew about it. Just by chance I discovered your channel a couple weeks ago and I am just in awe---this is so awesome!!!

    Reminds of the time I flew a 182 home from Oregon to Florida. We lost a vacuum pump in Texas on a Saturday. We were given Jack Johnson's number, the owner of Texas Skyways. Jack told us he was getting ready to go out to lunch with his family but he wanted us to fly to his facility and he would wait for us there. Jack welcomed us with great hospitality. Jack told us to make our self at home and his mechanic was on the way to fix the Vacuum pump. After the repair, Jack said to leave my info and his girls would bill me the following week. I asked if there was fuel on the field. He took us to the fuel farm, I inserted every card I had and they were all declined. Jack said don't worry about it, he pulled out his own credit card and stuck it in the machine. Needless to say the machine was broke, but Jack was able to get us fuel. The aviation community is pretty amazing group of people. I understand you were in SW Florida a couple weeks back. You probably flew with a couple people I know. This was back in 2007. N43TT
