Just moved here about 1 year ago. Pretty nice community which continues to expand. Cant wait for the construction on highway 22 to finish up.

Hi Reid! Thanks so much for doing these videos. I'm curious about the transportation & transit systems available in Cochrane. Since it's a little far from the city, does Uber/Lyft (or any other car-share services) operate in the area? Also, how is the a public transit system? Thank you so much!

      Hi Tuti,
I'm so glad you are enjoying these videos! Thank you so much for reaching out.
So quick answer is that yes Uber/Lyft does operate in Cochrane, and they have since about 2017. The issue is the reliability due to low driver numbers. You can use Uber/Lyft from Calgary to head out to Cochrane very reliably but if there is not cars available you may be waiting a while to do the opposite.
Cochrane does have a great transportation offering in COLT. It is a transit on demand system where users can request a pickup from 152 different stops throughout Cochrane. Costs to ride are affordable at just $2.50 per trip. Monthly passes are also available at varying rates. ridecolt.ca/
As the transit system is an on-demand system there will be peak times where you may have to wait longer for a pickup, and it only operates within Cochrane itself. You are able to schedule your pickups up to a week in advance which is super helpful too!
Cochrane does also have a commuter bus that operates during the week, it leaves from the central transport hub "The Station" and there are two routes. One drops off at Brentwood LRT station and the UofC and the other drops off in downtown Calgary ( 6 stops).
This service is $300/month as of June 1,2023. But gives the riders free access to COLT during the morning and afternoon commute times! www.onitregionaltransit.ca/cochrane-commuter/
I hope this information is super helpful and if theres anything else I can help with please let me know.
      Thanks again for reaching out!
      Reid

@@CochraneAlbertaRealtor Thank you SO much Reid for this response, and for all the videos you've created regarding Cochrane. These are so immensely helpful for those of us contemplating moving there! 🙏
Another question I had regarding Cochrane is regarding the real estate market. I’ve seen a lot of videos and information on home sale prices. The homes are absolutely spectacular and great prices. But I was wondering if you could shed more light on the rental market in Cochrane? I think this can be especially helpful for those us moving to the area for the first time (and perhaps even moving to Canada); and we’d like to get a feel of the area for some time before actually buying a home. Are there rental homes & apartments available in Cochrane? What are the average rent prices, sizes, and are they pet friendly (I’ve seen a many in the Calgary area which aren’t and I have a friendly pup I’ll probably be moving with)?
Thanks again for all that you do!
      Best,
      Tuti
