      One thing you might have forgotten to mention is that, while on paper, the G-Cannon was superior to the Heavygun in every way, in practice, it's performance was actually LESS then it should have been.
      This is because when they produced it, AE used ready made in house parts rather then producing the SNRI approved ones, which dragged the G-Cannons stat-line down a few bars.
      Whether AE did this to save time and money, out of spite towards SNRI or both, I'll let you decide.

    • @BioGoji-zm5ph
      @BioGoji-zm5ph 2 роки тому +1

      @@MasterSwo Don't forget that when both cannons were mounted, the F71 G-Cannon couldn't turn its head very well either. Not enough space between the head and the barrels. Although, it *was* capable of operating without the cannons attached, as seen during the Crossbone's incursion into Frontier 4 early in the film when an F-71 G-Cannon is seen without the cannons while holding a beam rifle. It's easy to mistake for a Heavygun at first, until you notice the wrist-guns on the side, along with the red lines on the chest above the front vents and along the sides of the torso, both of which the Heavygun lacks.

    No matter the generation in the UC, the main way to fix an outdated MS is to make a Full Armor or Full Equipment type and just toss everything available onto the said MS. When in doubt, just add more guns.

      I just had flashback to that part of Zoids CC, where the Republic put every gun they had on a Command wolf to fight one of the Empire's Aces, and the 'Upgrade' just made the CW slower and more of a target.
      only for later in the series said Ace, get defeated by a Rookie pilot in a basic Shield liger that was rusted to crap at the start of the series.

      The sad thing is that the Heavygun is one of my favorite Mass Production units but also one of the worst in terms of combat records. I didn't think it would be super High on the list but seeing how it actually did beyond the Anime actually makes it look almost as bad as the GM II. That's saying something, if the GM II is the Yamcha of the GM lineage this thing is arguably the Tien. Still better in a lot of ways but definitely carried by the skills of the pilot rather than the unit. The one thing I can say about the GM II is that it at least had an excuse for it's bad combat record and all things considered it wasn't nearly as bad as the Anime made it look.
      The Heavygun is the exact opposite in that it's way better on paper but it's always on the back foot and no amount of techniques can save it from being wildly overpowered and pushed out of the fight. No matter how many weapons it gets, the core itself just can't use them as effectively as anyone else can and it gets murdered.

    • @badwrongfun5541
      @badwrongfun5541 2 роки тому +3

      @@robertdrexel2043 thats what the translated write up on Zeonic Translations about it says. And there's official art of the Heavy Gun wearing parts of 120's armor cloak/shroud (Perhaps the Vaporizing Applique Armor being tested?) with art of the regular Heavy Gun and 120 surrounding the hybrid unit. So that does also reinforce that there is a connection. I'd assume the internals are similar but it's the armor that's completely redone.

    • @kakarot197
      @kakarot197  2 роки тому +3

      Just dug a bit deeper and I can confirm that the MSA-120 is almost certainly an advanced version of the Heavygun. (Rough translation of the Japanese blurb I found: "Despite looking very unique, "it is said" that the MSA-120 is an upgraded/advanced version of the Heavygun". And in my experience "it is said" is commonly used when they want something to be true)
      As for the crazy appearance, it's apparently made by the Zeonic section of AE.
      Thanks for the comment. And even though it's too late to be included in this video, I'm going to do my best to remember to include it when I get to the F91 Development History (because the Vaporizing Applique Armor's concept was carried over to the F91)

    There's something about late-UC Gundam suits that's just so unappealing to me. I don't think it's the size, necessarily. But I don't know, the designs are all so uninspired. It's as though Sunrise thought to themselves "we're never going to top CCA, so why even try".

      Bandai was actually behind the shrinking of MS the cost of plastic went up and they wanted to sell smaller cheaper kits but not change the scale label. So for F91 technology pushed suits smaller and we got some very easy to.mold suits.
