Informative video. For information, the crab you think is male is actually female. Female brown crabs have a broad tail, whereas males have a narrow tail. You can tell just from turning the crab upside down, no need to lift the tail up to distinguish sex. 👍🏼
Hi John. I live in Maryland where crabs are an everyday part of life, though expensive buying them from the market unless you catch them yourself. Very nice video John. I've never tried the brown crab. Strange though, here in Baltimore our crabs are called the Maryland Blue Crab. Lol What if'n you don't mind my asking John, will you do with that roue there. Looks like it would be good for something. 🙂
Hi Roger, thank for watching and also your comment. Regarding the roe if you had enough you could dry it out and then grate it or make a fine power out of it to enhance dishes. You could also have it smoked to add another flavour profile and then dried and again grate or use as a fine power. It could also be added to sauces to add an extra boost of flavour. And don’t forget the shells which are amazing for making bisque. Hope this helps. Have a great day and thanks again for watching 👍☘️i
Pretty sure that is a female crab. The tail is not thin and males have two tubular appendages under that flap. That looks like a female because that tail is wider and it has feathery appendages. But you at least showed the humane way to kill a crab though I think you should have chilled it to the point of unresponsiveness or insensibility.

Cheers John, good stuff. Going to give this a go
