    Freight rates going down to 1.5 usd or less is insane while prices are skyrocketing. This can’t be sustainable at all.

    Rusty, for me it's always good to put a face to the voice.I'm almost 70, been in trucking since I was 17, pay has always been an issue in trucking, as well as brokers, regarding the food part, all the Mom & Pop truck stop's have closed down, no family members willing to take over the busines. This video was A-OK.

    i quit driving in 1985 cause i was young and got lonely and trucking company made me lie on logs i even got my hazmat back then and hauled gasoline.one time i was dancing in a bar and owners wife came into bar and told me i had to take a load of swinging meat to nebraska on a saturday night if i didnt she told me i was fired so i did.drunk driving a 13 speed 359 pete cabover but i sobered up fast made it no problem but that behaviour worred me worked there 2 more years and i quit driving cause i saw my older friend die in a accident same company.that was enough for me and wasnt even his fault he had 2 weeks left to retirement new white brand cabover big sleeper first trip out he made it from mn to georgia

    I started in the Australian outback, 1980, my run was 17.5 hours each way, stopping for fuel only. Bit weird, but it was real good fun. You're video was a good laugh.

    I cannot agree with you strongly enough in terms of how many truckers are extremely unhealthy and how evident it is that those who are unhealthy are probably going to be that way for the rest of their lives. I see so many truckers who are morbidly obese and oftentimes if they're not they'll be hobbling around often using canes, crutches, walkers, etc. I am trying very hard to take care of my health and eat well so that I can avoid ending up like that

    Yooo Rusty! You are one of the people that inspired me to be a trucker but if I’m completely honest with you MY JOURNEY SO FAR HAS BEEN TERRIBLE!!!! Omg 😔 the company I work for helped me get my CDL and I had to be out on the road with a trainer for 3 weeks or so first trainer dude was a bi*ch he NOT ONES! Showered and was forcing me to drive above the speed limit so I asked for a different trainer and she’s ehhh she has a lot of mood swings she loves to run her mouth and I’m a guy that is always alone and I like it that way look I need to vent to a old head or a veteran trucker because low key I wanna quit I busted my ass to get my CDL and the company sucks but I can’t leave for 6 months 😔 what should I do? Any other truckers out here that read this please give me some advice?

    • @petrock1985
      @petrock1985 11 місяців тому +4

      You shouldn’t have used anybody’s help to get your cdl - that’s mistake #1. I was in Louisiana in 2009 and cdl school wanted close to 7k, another experienced trucker recommended to check out schools around Chicago, found one for 1800.
      You have to work those 6 months for them otherwise they will charge you a double a what your tuition was.
      After your 6 months, take a little break to clear your head, improve your health and start looking for another company.

    I've tried joining the industry for the last 3 years. I wound up sticking around Class B industry. It honestly seems to be the only way to make it in this Industry is Owner Operator. Company drivers are used and abused. Dispatchers and Brokers are dishonest as ever. Insurance Company policies for new hires are ridiculous. The industry needs drivers but it seems like new drivers are forced to go to the top big 10 companies or no one wants to train new hires. Can't wait to see what the industry will look like by the end of this decade.

    Yes and not. You are correct about de dangerous, but the budget could be the reason for to be a driver, the skills it´s in the time, your series Volvo Rebuild are really amazing. You videos about road, engine, brakes, truck stops, etc. are good, let the gurus talk about economic, politic, the reason because I saw your videos is you are focused in trucks. Thank you for this moments!

    No body is offended Mr. Therustytrucker? The Trucking Industry is good, as same as, others jobs, of course is true about the pros a cons that your mentioned in this video. By the way, just for me, you are a very good maker Truck vlog or your are the best doing truck vlogs, when you talk about, engine, tires, frames, cabs, roads, load - unloads, regulations transit, explaining about de sizes of cabs, etc, you look unquestionable because you are the principal actor, and I am not saying you haven´t the background about other areas of the knowledge. Like say mi boss: "The worst moments the best opportunities", and this is for all kind of jobs. God Bless You!

    Hey rusty you can still get $2+ a mile loads if you can get contract freight or get on the good with brokers. My truck is leased to a company and I get $1.88+ depends on how many miles the load is including fuel surcharge . $0.92 all empty miles. I don't pay for tolls, permits, or ifta license plate. Just insurance.
