As an owner i can confirm that this car is extremely comfortable even for everyday use. The part about the squeaking roof is true but after some time you don't even notice it. I will probably get an M235i in the future but i refuse to let go of this one as i'm in love with it ever since i got it many years ago.
***** I usually get 8L/100km combined but i only need to fill her up once per month. I live and work in the suburbs (no traffic jams, not many red lights etc).
The really cool thing about the Z4 is that most in my area cost between $11,000 to $15,000, defiantly really good for the price compared to its competitors which are much more expensive. I would have considered this for being my first car but then I found a mid-condition 1974 Porsche 914 in kind of my area in the same price range and am reconsidering
Completely agree with Conrad. An excellent daily driver, but the ride is horrendous. I still to this day get tons of positive feedback from people out on the streets, and that's a pretty cool feeling. I own a 2003 3.0i, people still think it's brand new! ;)
The Z4 wasn't the successor to the Z3, the Z3 was binned as it was a complete and utter dog. Which is why this car is a "Z4" and not a "later Z3". You're also driving an SE, which is why the wheels are small and the ride is soft. This is is also why it's a little slow. The only model to buy was the 3.0si. Fair attempt though.
+Filip Peric dont do it, it really sucks unless you get a Manual. My family has that car, AMG E-Class, AMG SLK, and a Porsche Boxster S and they are all better than the Z4 in the SMG... Manual version is fantastic though
+Kleinermann413 Yeah a lot of our cars are out of that price range I was just saying that the GEN1 SMG transmission is absolutely miserable. I found out there was a separate auto from the SMG so if he cannot drive stick then Auto would be the best bet as you still get paddle shifters to control your gears.
I own a 2005 Z4 and believe for comments are spot on. I live in New England and have to deal with crappy roads so the ride is an issue but it it fun to drive. One thing to note is that the 2.5 version is geared much lower than the 3.0 liter cars so that are similar in acceleration off the line. The 3.0 just has more top end. For my driving, the 2.5 has plenty of power, handles great and has your back if you get in trouble. I also have a Honda s2000 which I would consider unsafe at most speeds for the average person.
Isn't < 250-300 hp too little for a car that wants to be a sport one? For example, in a 328i you will feel a lack of power sometimes the 335i on the other hand feels way too aggressive for my driving style. I'm really excited to test drive a Z4 tho.
I have a 3.0i and the only thing I don't like is the suspension. It is pretty rough compared to a Boxster S or Honda S2000. Other than that, it is a good DD/economy car - a lot better than my Stage II B5 S4!
Haha you're welcome. I honestly say that your video made me go for the Z4. I am 21, it's gonna be my first 2d BMW. I was really thinking it about fast car, but you describtion on Z4 change my mind. the only question I would like to ask you is. Does the car bring mechanical problems after a while? And if you would give me some sugestions I would really apreciated! Thank you! Great video.
Very happy to hear that! It's a German performance car, there will be maintenance issues. How bad they are depends on maintenance history and a little bit of luck. Enjoy!
This car was made from 2003 to 2009, the best model to go for was the 3.0si. This car I believe had an issue with the power steering pump (the mini had a similar problem), so best to buy after 2008, or inquire if the pump was replaced. Check steering arms as these tend to need to be replaced with higher miles. Also check the engine for knocking etc, as most folk tended to drive these cars very hard with little to no maintenance. My advice: buy up to 3 years and 50K, with a full BMWFSH, you won't go wrong.
Believe it or not I wanted a Z4 before I jumped to the Ford Mustang which became my first and possibly current car I had BMWs The Hire series to thank for that Particularly the two short films ticker and hostage While my current choice of car will always be American muscle The Z4 will always have a place in my heart because it was my first dream car and if i could be like Jay Leno and have a car collection a Z4 would definitely be in my garage
I agree. I had a 3.0 2005 Z4 and that engine was simply stunning. It was really quick, and the 6 speed manual was super easy to use. I miss that car sometimes, but I had to move to something a little more practical.
I’m 6’2 and I felt like Shaquille O’Neal in this thing. Was really disappointed. My legs were literally touching the dash with my back flat against the seat.
+Eduardo Alfonso It's a lot of fun, insurance will be expensive though, and I'd look for the lowest mileage you can afford. I only had minor issues with mine, and it was well under 100k miles.
Fine, whatever I like the body style of the Z4 much more, the SLK just looks plain to me. The Z4 also had much better reliability ratings from consumer reports. The only thing that I like better on the SLK is the power hardtop. BMW didn't put the folding hardtop on the Z4 until 08 or 09. Overall I'd definitely prefer the bmw.
+Whatever I would take the 2005 SLK 55 AMG over the Z4 if you want an 'auto' transmission because the transmission in the mercedes is far better than the SMG in the bmw
+Joey Gallegos There is an SMG Auto-Manual but dont do it! it is really slow and jerky and it feels like you are in an accent car every time you shift. My family has that car, AMG E-Class, AMG SLK, and a Porsche Boxster S and they are all better than the Z4 in the SMG... Manual version is fantastic though

Tyrant how reliable has yours been is it expensive to repair?
Umm is suspension hard like m series?

15k? holy shit where im am from this cars cost around 4k jaja
here in germany you can get a good one for like 8-9k € with less than 80k km
Damn Parker you really changed
awesome car. I love mine. DSC and sports mode combined with little drifts here and there make it fun
Hey, I've been following your channel for a long time and this video really helped me buying my 2004 BMW Z4 in July 2016. Cheers from Switzerland ;)
Devis Bétrisey haha I saw yours on IG. It looks great!
Hahah ;)
How many miles did it have on it? after some months how do you evaluate your purchase?
Devis Bétrisey welcome to the club

Geez Parker you've come a long way in many ways with your videos
Thank you for your honest review, you've just sold it to me, heading to the dealership tomorrow to get the 2.5i :D
+Damian Shorten how is it?
+Damian Shorten the Z4M is so much better and totally worth it!
Great review man! You actually now what your talking about, unlike the majority of reviews on the internet! Do a review on the Mercedes 500sl!
By the way this guy gets chubby
Lmao he was not bad looking back then dang
it's interesting watching people change
Two words "German engineering" ;) This will for sure be my first car when i get driver license.
Good luck!
+Filip Peric dont do it, it really sucks unless you get a Manual. My family has that car, AMG E-Class, AMG SLK, and a Porsche Boxster S and they are all better than the Z4 in the SMG... Manual version is fantastic though
+Luna Magazine they as well cost way more. :)

I really enjoyed his quick wit and enthusiastic approach to this BMW review! Cheers
I was trying to decide weather to get a 1998 z3 or a 2003 z4. I think im just going to go with the z3 and then use that extra money to work on it.
A1EX that's actually a really good idea
Who is here because VV was talking about this video on his newest video on buying the z4 in cash?
Thats crazy this was your first review! well done...
2018, BRO YOU LOOK SO DIFFERENT

The 3.0 is significantly faster than the 2.5, the difference is the 3.0 had a 6 speed.
you should do a review on the new z4
Like gravity?
''stoping on the face of danger, not a problem at all" that was a good one man.
haha thank you!
Vehicle Virgins you should review the 3.0i version. Anyways great video
I just got my license and I really want this car!

Back when Parker was making good videos while staying sober.
you should have reviewed the 3.0
I'm sure they could if they could get hold of one
I agree. I had a 3.0 2005 Z4 and that engine was simply stunning. It was really quick, and the 6 speed manual was super easy to use. I miss that car sometimes, but I had to move to something a little more practical.
@@Kev50027 And what was the practical replacement?

I’m 6’2 and I felt like Shaquille O’Neal in this thing. Was really disappointed. My legs were literally touching the dash with my back flat against the seat.

Kayla Abdullah Barakat You will love it! I have exactly the one on the video but the 3.0i :) have fun!
VisVires i wanna get the 3.0 version when i start driving in a few years will i enjoy it? Is insurance expensive? Reliability?
+Eduardo Alfonso It's a lot of fun, insurance will be expensive though, and I'd look for the lowest mileage you can afford. I only had minor issues with mine, and it was well under 100k miles.
Wow just watched the new vid and i agree, you were way smaller. Just saying.
What do you prefer, the z4 or a mercedes slk from the same year?
Fine, whatever I like the body style of the Z4 much more, the SLK just looks plain to me.

Is the supension of the Z4 harsh? If so, how hard is it?
ul feel everything on the road,it's really low to the ground but a good fun ride and corners are nothing for the car..
test dove this 5 speed , the rpm is way too high like 4300rpm just to drive 75mph. So noisy
You're a slim jim in this holy shite

+Joey Gallegos There is an SMG Auto-Manual but dont do it! it is really slow and jerky and it feels like you are in an accent car every time you shift. My family has that car, AMG E-Class, AMG SLK, and a Porsche Boxster S and they are all better than the Z4 in the SMG... Manual version is fantastic though
