This isn't a dubbed anime. The voice acting is this good because it was originally recorded in English and then animated. It was made in America, not Japan.
The creators of the show did the casting, that's why it is so good. It's not an agency translating, localizing and dubbing it. Yeeeeeeeeees! The best childhood shows! My favorite family friendly show that everyone can enjoy, heavy stuff and goofy comedy, love it, love it. Avatar is a western show in a more Japanese 2D style, and being ‘anime’ is a Japanese shortening of ‘animation’ so it is anime. 😌
Weirdly enough, I’ve heard that the Japanese dub of this show wasn’t very good. Back when My Hero Academia first came out, people thought Todoroki was a reference to Zuko, but apparently Avatar The Last Airbender wasn’t popular in Japan. Bad dub, not much advertising, etc. But, then again, Horikoshi is an American comics fan, so if anyone would know a popular American cartoon, it’d probably be him. I know Disney movies get pretty big releases in Japan, but how I don’t know how much other American animation gets released over there.
Purely anecdotally, when I was staying with a host family in Ibaraki (town in Osaka, not the prefecture) in 2012, Cartoon Network shows seemed to be vastly more represented than Nickelodeon shows. No idea why, or if it was just by chance from too small a sample size, but it's my personal experience.
I am just so happy that Netflix put on Avatar and made it popular because i have always loved Avatar and it seemed like nobody else watched it and i used to recommend it to every new friend i made but they would dismiss it as a children cartoon show but now this show has transcended that and become one of the most powerful IPs in the entertainment industry and it makes me so happy because it is one of the best shows ever, period.
Aang has arrows because is an airing master. It usually takes years but he invented a new style of air bending/trick. The Air sphere, he rides it like a Hooverboard 😂😂😂
Ok so I just started following you because you reacted to Konosuba... And now you are going for AtLA?? Holy cow you are quickly becoming my new favourite reaction channel.
Everything about this show gets better and better, and I love the first season! The soundtrack IS one of the best parts, but it really is all a masterpiece. I’m sure someone has mentioned by now, but the arrows are bc he’s an Airbending Master, not bc he’s the Avatar!
I don't like most cartoons and I'm very much an anime Andy but Avatar: The Last Airbender is magnificent and is definitely up there amongst my favourites.
The way bending works, like how people have it or don't, is actually quite fascinating. It's not exactly genetic. Basically, the overall spirituality of the nation is what decides how high a percentage of those born are benders. For instance, the air nomads were by far the most spiritual people. As such, every child born was an airbender. On the flip side, you have the earth kingdom. A very spiritually disconnected culture. A very small percentage of children are born as earthbenders.

definitely a short but amazing Anime, i'll call it an Anime whether the weebs like it or not, it was made with strong influences from Anime and it tells an epic story just like Anime.
Not a weeb, I just don't like calling it anime because The Anime Industry(tm) is largely an echo chamber of bad tropes and Avatar wasn't made within that echo chamber. Same way it feels insulting to call Jojo, FMA, and other envelope-pushing series "anime". Your average anime isn't Cowboy Bebop or Mushishi or Nichijou. The average anime is Mahou Sensou.
your reaction to sokka's sexism made me realize I can trust you guys to actually understand the show, I just started watching other reactors and they agreed with him and really gave me the ick, glad I found you instead
The first season is already good but it's generally considered the worst out of the 3 seasons which only goes to show how good the next two seasons are. The show only gets better as it goes.
Just wanted to let y’all know, this isn’t a dub from another language, this is an original American show. That’s why the voice acting is so smooth. Also the show was created in 2001 to 2003 so it’s about 20 years old now.
Japanese words twnd to be a lot longer than their English counter parts so getting the English translation to synch up with the mouth movements is cumbersome at best.
Fucking finally someone reacts properly to Sokka’s sexism in the first few minutes. I had to stop watching a channel yesterday because they were just agreeing with all his bullshit. In Ep. 4 when Sokka goes on his sexism rant about gender roles, they were nodding in agreement. I was flabbergasted. I finally called them out on the misogyny in season 2 after they’re introduced to Toph and the dude literally said, “Oh it’s just a girl in a dress, probably not a cool character…” Their excuse was “we both appreciate and uphold traditional gender values” which made me want to throw up. So thanks for not being shit people, basically, and being instantly offended by sexism, as anyone should be.
Damn, you’re one of those people who reach extra hard to be offended by things. Spartan literally lists his favorite characters in the whole show as katara and toph. Yeah I bet he’s so sexist and thinks the female characters are lame and shouldn’t fight 🙄🙄 dont hurt your back reaching so hard.
@@laura_giegergo ahead and unsubscribe to whatever you want, but they aren’t sexist lmao. They didn’t say or do absolutely anything sexist. And they love the female characters in the show. Considering you said you were subscribed to them before, you should have known that already. You’ve watched their reactions and know they aren’t bigots. Idk why you just let someone else tell you to not support someone who you previously saw nothing wrong with supporting.
🌊🪨🔥🌪️ Avatar the Last Airbender is the GOAT! Please watch it until the end, even if you don't film your reactions. I'll be honest, it takes a while to warm up to the show and get used to some things, like the animation style, 3:4 resolution, and the obvious cuts that were intended for commercial breaks. The first season is considered by many as its weak point. S1 has slow pacing; the episodes lack overall cohesion - they aren't really connected like they are in later seasons. The humor is also more childish and silly. That being said, S1 has a very important role in establishing the world and characters while also setting up a lot of things for the following seasons. Trust me, the show gets exponentially better as it progresses and its mature and emotional side becomes revealed. Each season is better than the previous one (we don't even get all main characters until S2) and I know it doesn't really seem like it at first, but it slowly evolves into an epic story with sweeping emotions, nuanced philosophy, and characters that are well written, multi-layered and complex. The series addresses many topics rarely touched on in youth entertainment, including issues relating to war, genocide, imperialism, colonialism, gender discrimination, marginalization and oppression, as well as the philosophical questions surrounding fate, destiny and free will. Yes, it's a kids' show, created for Nickelodeon and that is where the rockiness of the first season comes from, but it stands as a perfect example of all-ages entertainment, meaning that adults can enjoy it, too. It has humor, emotional scenes, cute animal hybrids, exceptional worldbuilding and incredible character arcs. ATLA is the only animated show that got in the IMDB's top 10 shows of all time, and everyone who watches it loves it, as shown by the fantastic scores and rating. Give ATLA a chance; you won't regret it.

"Imagine you burned his face"
definitely a short but amazing Anime, i'll call it an Anime whether the weebs like it or not, it was made with strong influences from Anime and it tells an epic story just like Anime.
Still like a solid 60 eps so not too short lol
@@TGLReacts oh for sure, but for something as epic as it is, 60 eps is hella short. lol
Avatar is a keystone for all reactors.
Oong the last airbunda
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really hope they do a real action series of the anime !!!
🔥❤️
This isn’t an anime. It was made in America.
Some reacters have never heard of Avatar
lord the man to the left is one of the hottest ppl ive seen on youtube
Just curious, have you guys watched the awful The Last Airbender live action?
Absolutely not but have heard many tales, this would need to be a drunk reaction if anything
dub is the original for this series no worries
Would you check out Steven Universe as well?
A lot of options for the future not just anime for sure
Ah yes, 112 year old man grooms 14 year old girl while her older brother watches. The series.
Seriously though this show is fire.
your reaction to sokka's sexism made me realize I can trust you guys to actually understand the show, I just started watching other reactors and they agreed with him and really gave me the ick, glad I found you instead
The first season is already good but it's generally considered the worst out of the 3 seasons which only goes to show how good the next two seasons are. The show only gets better as it goes.
wOOOOOOO
Just wanted to let y’all know, this isn’t a dub from another language, this is an original American show. That’s why the voice acting is so smooth. Also the show was created in 2001 to 2003 so it’s about 20 years old now.
2005-08
These guys seem kinda promising 😃 Many reactors think this is dubbed anime 😆
But no, english dubbed anime sounds like sh*t for some reason 🤷♂️
Japanese words twnd to be a lot longer than their English counter parts so getting the English translation to synch up with the mouth movements is cumbersome at best.
30s in and he's already calling a 14 year old hot, oh no
Fucking finally someone reacts properly to Sokka’s sexism in the first few minutes. So thanks for not being shit people, basically, and being instantly offended by sexism, as anyone should be.
what the heck? What reaction channel was that because if I'm subscribed to them I'll unsubscribe right now 🤢
@@laura_gieger Spartan & Pudgey. Def don't waste your time. I left a comment on their first video warning people they were openly and proudly sexist.
@@bhelliom3 I see. I was subscribed to them but not anymore.
Sub is better.
Yay. One piece and avatar are my favorite shows! I will be waiting for the next episodes
We are 100% watching/reacting to ALL of it
