Really in depth comparison, awesome video. There are differences in the tone and I think I like the USA one more, but they don't sound that far apart really. Seems like getting the pro series and upgrading some of its hardware would get you a quite high end sound and feel for a mid range cost, cool to know!

Man it's good to finally hear the comparison. I'm looking at just getting the nut changed to a graph-tech nut when i get the rags chucked in.
It's crazy how close the MM-1's are in comparison to the Juggs. I feel like the Juggs are a bit clearer and definitely hotter than the MM-1's but for stock pickups they actually hold up pretty well.

Would love to hear what you think of it after the upgrades! Going to be upgrading my HT-6 and 7 with Rags soon, along with a hipshot bridge for the 7 (6 is a evertune retrofit) and some of those hipshot grip knobs.
Curious about the nut change, I personally haven't had any tuning stability issues with my 7 (jury is out on the 6 because of the evertune lol) though I'm sure it'll help the sound of the guitar a good bit. Need to get around to making that change on my Holcomb as well.
Also I'd like to add that on both of mine the tone knob was loose as well.
      Hope you enjoy it man!

Actually got the HT7 Pro for about 2,5 years and like it a lot, feels very compact and agile for a 7 with the extremely narrow nut width. Upgraded it with Juggernauts, Hipshot bridge, Hipshot tuners, removed the tone pot completely (-> no more rattling and dont use it anyway), Hipshot volume knob (simple but just nice feeling and looking with next to no effort, changed on a few of my guitars).
So I think tonally there will be just a very small difference anymore, although die MM1 Pickups are not bad at all and the hardware was okay as well. But at least now it feels way better imo and I still can bring it to every small stage without worrying too much... just miss the stainless steel frets :P
Then a few months ago I wanted to buy an HT6 Pro, tried 3 of them and the quality was just beyond acceptable. Super crooked installed pickups, poorly slotted frets, crooked knobs, one even had the ground wire (usually hidden by the bridge) sticking out next to the bridge with damaged paint around it, way to big neck pockets....So yeah, I think you need A LOT of luck to get a good Indonesian made Jackson, I think I had with my first one. Love the USA models and for a good price below maybe 2k a solid no brainer but for around 3.5k there are many great alternatives to the custom shop one.... instead of a ht6 pro or usa made i personally then got a mayones duvell for 1k less then the ht6 usa :)
      Cheers from Germany!

I have a Satin white HT6 pro series juggernaut, ebony fretboard, that I got used in MINT condition for $500.
It would go out of tune quickly, and I had to constantly tune it.
I checked online and yup, a plastic nut? Really Misha? That's the corner you and Jackson want to cut? A $10 fix?
    Anyway, I put a Graph-tech nut on , it was like $12!!
And a few weeks later, I put Hipshot griplock open gear tuners on, and a Hipshot hardtail bridge. Same one's on Mishas ....
I dialed the action in MINT, the intonation is on point, there's not a blemish, no sharp frets....
All in all it cost me roughly $200 for the mods and now it's my absolute favorite, go too guitar. No lie. So for $700 is now a beast.
Let's say I get a set of bareknuckle juggernauts for it..... with the cool covers( you know it's more with the covers) I'm still at or JUST over $1000
Oh wait, I put a Star Wars sticker on it.... that was $5.....lmfao!
I know, the amber Tiger is BEAUTIFUL ...and the wood... and electronics, the attention to detail, the hard shell case etc.
But guess what, my guitar, on a recording...... I'd put money on it that people would NOT know which was which.
In the end I saved well over $2000!!
    It says "Made in Indonesia"
    Big deal.
However, I love ALL of his custom USA models and if I could justify it I'd own one too!!

Very good comparison. I bought the HT7 pro 6 months good for about 650-700$ and I haven't tried the US models because they are very rare where I live. I guess I was a bit more lucky considering the QC of my guitar because the only thing I've noticed is the screw holes that are a bit rough. The fretwork was nicely done and the neck is very comfortable.
The negatives are the tuners that are ok and holds up ok. But if I would play live I would probably change those. The other thing are the pickups that are perhaps a bit muddy. I would say that they are decent but I will probably swap them out for a Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgul or Pegasus that I've already got.
Even though the nut is plastic I haven't got any issues with that and won't probably change that or the bridge which I also think is ok.
If you get the HT Pro model on a sale when you got a really good guitar.

The USA sounds both richer and tighter in the low end. The lead stuff stands out better and it has the chunks. But I wonder what a Pro Series could do with the Juggernauts. I know Jake does have a couple of custom shop ibanez's he plays, but I think he does use his import model live at times as well. I think the addition of the Juggernauts and a better nut would be worth it for MIsha's import model honestly. Even if it ups the price to around 1000-1100 bucks it would still be a steal at that price.

I can’t vouch for the newer pro series but I had a 2015 model I believe and it had issues. The pickup switch wasn’t routed out enough so the only way to get all 5 positions was by removing the plastic switch blade cap. Also the neck always seemed to get out of adjustment. Other than that I really liked the feel of the guitar.

I remember when the Pro Series used to be made in Japan. Those were AMAZING instruments! QC issues were extremely limited. My MIJ Rhoads is probably the best instrument under $1200 that I've ever played. I wish Jackson would move production of all the Pro Series back to Japan. Sure, it's more expensive than Indonesia, but the QC is MUCH better!

Import Jackson’s are never a safe bet unless you can play it in person first. Their QC is all over the place. Even the USA stuff often leaves a lot to be desired. That 20” radius board feels awful IMO but it’s all preference. If you can find a good example of the US model and you jive with that neck then it’s a cool axe.

Mine was a 2018 model abd was fine in all the categories but I changed the bridge, tuners to hipshots but the big problem is the PUs have a triangular shape where the PUs screws are and it made changing the PUs a bitch. I had to have someone do it for me. If anyone had better luck in this area let me know I’d be curious to hear about it.

Jackson upped the game quite a bit recently. I bought a model off the pro line. It's sand blasted in the grain and black and red. It was also made in Korea. The Korean ones are way better. Came with hipshot bridge, gohto locking tuners and fishmans. Runs new for 1300 USD but I got it new from a shop for 950. Not a single QC issue. I've heard the Indonesian ones are hit or miss though.

I am rather amazed how Jackson cut short on the Pro... I own HT6 and HT7 Pro Brodericks and they come with the actual Broderick Dimarzios, maple through neck with graphite rods, the same locking tuners and the Jackson Single String hardtail bridge. Seems like the Misha was sold a little short.

    • @KeyanHoushmandLive
      @KeyanHoushmandLive  4 роки тому +1

I think Misha likes bolt ons more as they are a little more punchier, I don’t think it was to cut costs. A think these guitars are more focused on quality and features with a lot of versatility to upgrade after the fact, but certain features like the routing, luminlays and neck radius are all very unique for Jackson in this price range

    • @Silktribe
      @Silktribe 4 роки тому +1

@@KeyanHoushmandLive Oh yeah, the neck through was Broderick's choice because he preferred sustain to attack... that's just a matter of personal preference... I just thought it's a little "unfair" towards the Misha Pro to sell it at the same price, though I gotta say... the roasted maple and the Luminlays probably make up for the pickups and construction costs. Anyway, Jackson gives a lot of bang for the buck and thanks for your great content!
