At the same place I once served Bruce Cockburn, who ordered a vegetarian curry soup, sweet potato, I think. He was also very kind, but very quiet, almost shy.

I'm 44, Canadian. Loved Kids in the Hall but grew up in a super religious town in Central Alberta so the show was not popular there. I've been seeing this song since! Just randomly the song will pop into my head. For some reason, lately it's been coming into my head often and my 12 yr old son started singing it, not knowing where it came from. So a few weeks ago I showed him this video and now we both will just starting singing it randomly. It warms my heart when my son just starts singing it ❤🇨🇦

Our only redeeming asset is the university, most of the students are from other places so there's at least a little sanity to be found.

Yep, I loved just how chaotically random it was. Monty Python, The Kids in the Hall, The State, early seasons of In Living Color and Mad TV were just so random and unexpected. There isn't much that even bothers to try these days and there's a lot more limits in terms of what can be done.

I saw a music video at the gym one time and the singer looked and sounded like Bruce. It had lyrics along the lines of "really pleased to meet you - tell me what to do, tell me what to say". It was a really good song actually. I have looked for it and searched on those lyrics many times but never found it on yt or anywhere else. If it is Bruce then maybe someone knows.

There are 5 Daves on my street: Dave and Other Dave live on either side of me.... two doors up is Telephone Dave (he walks around the neighbourhood making financial deals on his phone); the next block up is Tall Dave (well over 6 feet and his wife is about 5 feet tall); and finally Invisible Dave (I only know he is Dave because I saw his wife outside calling to him inside).
I remember being in school in the 1980s; it felt like all of us girls had to share about a dozen names between us, but the boys only had five or six. So many Daves, Dans, Jims, Mikes, Toms, and Tims.
I worked with a Dave once and sang him this song. That’s the end of this story.
Every time I meet a Dave, I mention that I'll add him to the list. Get some weird looks but it makes ME laugh.
