The reason Butcher seems to be just fine when he walks in the room and kills Neuman is this: When Butcher doesn't do what Kessler (his dark side) wants him to do, he makes his condition way worse. That's why Butcher fainted in ep. 7 when he told Kessler to f*ck off and walked away from the bar. Since then Butcher was trying his best to not listen to anything Kessler told him and he kept his faith in Ryan. But when Butcher saw Grace die by Ryan's hands just in front of him, it destroyed all his hope and he gave in to Kessler's evil plan to kill all supes. Butcher is now in something like a symbiosis with Kessler and as long as it stays that way, I believe Butcher is not gonna die as soon as he might.
Last episode we learned A-Train and his family had disappeared. There is the animated series: the Boys Diabolical. Episode 7 "John and Sun-Hee, explores this same kind of thing and how her cancer becomes its own entity. And Nikki, the supe's name is Love Sausage, lol.

M.M. Trying to act natural by being a million times nicer and smiley than he’s ever been is one of the funniest, most out of left field things that’s happened this season.

The conversation Butcher had with Hughie was the "death" of his humanity being foreshadowed and the birth of his evil and merciless transformation came forth after Ryan killed Grace.
Every damn actor and actress in this show is phenomenal this is one of the greatest pieces of media every created. The gore and plot twists along the way are the icing on the awesome cake. S5 is gonna be absolutely LIT
Annie's performance was so good in this finale. For an on the surface dumb character like The Deep, the actor showed so much range throughout the season. Also Sage and Homelander's scene at the end from both actors side was gold... all in all you right the acting was top notch all around.
Settle down lol. Its awesome and fun, but its not in the same stratosphere as something like Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Succession.

I feel everyone who gets powers as adults through Compound V or Temp V has it based on some trauma: Butcher got Homelander's powers for what he did to Becca. Hughie gained teleportation because of Robin getting "flashed" out of existence. Hugh Sr. faded constantly in and out because his wife faded out of his life. So, yeah, Ashley losing her hair because of the constant stress she's enduring at Vought? Very likely she's getting hair-related powers.
With her brain pulsing plus The Boys being weird, I'd love if they somehow made it so it was Medusa but instead of snakes it's her brain. Like if you took the squiggly parts of our brains and stretched it really long into "hair".
The write-off joke is directed at Zaslav, CEO and president of Warner Bros. Discovery, for doing exactly that. He also increased his salary by millions while laying off thousands of people.
He started with the Batgirl movie, which was pretty much finished. The directors, who were at a wedding at the time, only learned of this from the internet. Then continued with a Scooby Doo animated movie, which got cancelled, before they could record the soundtrack. Batgirl was already 20 million over budget, test screenings were supposedly widely panned, and would need an unknown amount of money to fix the movie. Add on to that the money that would then be needed to promote the movie, and I can understand the logic of thinking "maybe it's better if we cut our losses on this one" vs. the Coyote vs. ACME project that was completed and had really good buzz about it. Didn't say I agree or disagree with the decision, just that one makes more sense than the other.

I think best episode of the series!!!! I will need to rewatch the full series before season five but I’m pretty sure. Very close is the season two finale … which was just as awesome !!!! Great finale and very unpredictable
Starlight hasnt always been able to fly "like that". Earlier in the season she can barely stay balanced a few feet off the ground and Hughie is helping her train.
Maybe the trainining helped her level up and now she doesnt need electricity around to make her powers work, maybe she can drain power from the sun like supermen. Since they were in plain field and her power worked.

We saw a major power up with how fast she flew away. Think she will be way more powerful in the next season and I hope she fucks some shit up!
Perhaps the last shackle that was limiting her full potential was herself. Being unable to face her past demons, her regrets, and trying to bury the past without coming to terms with it. Fighting that shapeshifter was a big character developnent moment to confront herself. It allowed her to break through the last psychological barrier that was holding her back.
That wasn't Butcher. That was Kessler. When Kessler takes over, it seems to make Butcher look completely healthy, and also does things that Butcher himself won't do. Like Venom.
Damn the moment Kimiko finally spook was when she was in true danger, trying to call out to Frenchie who was being mind controlled by Cate, what an episode.
That's two episodes in a row that they briefly show a closeup of Sage's Queen Maeve notebook. I wonder if she will make an appearance in season 5 considering they brought back Cindy and Love Sausage this episode ( who by the way regained his powers even after Herogasm)
I don't think Butcher on his death bed was an act for Ryan. I feel like Butcher was 100% ready to die and leave his hopes of stopping Homelander with Ryan. But Mallory dropped too much too fast, and with Ryan killing her, Butcher lost that hope.
Starlight started levitating in the finale of season three when Hughie supercharged her so she could fight Soldier Boy. Several times in season four Starlight has practiced "flying" with moderate results. That last flying scene was the first time she really, really flew.
Think of Kessler like the personality of the tumor growing inside Butcher's brain. When Butcher isn't doing what Kessler wants, he starts killing Butcher slowly like a cancer, but once Butcher follows his advice, he can instantly heal Butcher. Also, as we've seen previously, Kessler is like a split personality. He can quite literally take over Butcher, which is pretty much what happens, indicated by him looking at the mirror in the end and seeing Kessler in his stead.
I love how everyone (even me and my coworkers watching this when we shouldn't have been) realized after about the second or third "No" that Kimiko is speaking.
No she hasn’t always been able to fly like that…. We saw in earlier episodes that she had figured out how to hover, and kinda fly for a short distance in an uncoordinated way, but flying off like Neo at that speed was new …. and not to mention that in every previous instance of her hovering/flying she had to draw power from surrounding electricity sources in order to do it - but in the final scene they are out in the middle of nowhere so it’s not clear where she is getting power from. Maybe her powers came back with new capabilities? I guess we will have to see if they explain that in S5.
When Cate appeared on sceen my heart literally sanked, i thought she was going to do the worst to Frenchie and what's worst the one time Kimiko is able to speak frenchie cant hear her.

The moment HL threatened to hurt Zoe she wanted to jump the boat, was she so stupid to belive that turning her into a sup will spare her from HL wrath. Stan was also pisseeeed the moment he learned that Vicky turned Zoe into a sup, a monster. He will take Zoe out of there and move far far away.
I think Vicky hid him away so he wouldn’t be in any immediate threat for the time being. As far as everyone else is concerned, both her parents are dead and his grandfather is a fugitive so the government doesn’t think she has anyone else.

Pretty sure that what was going on with butcher was that the parasite was purposely making him unhealthy, and then when he decided to play ball fully with the parasite, the parasite healed him. Also, starlight was flying at the beginning of the season, just not as fast and as Superman like as that.
As many said here about Butcher: He's basically Venom now, the dark impulses of his phantom ego allow him to operate free from the tumor-riddled, ambivalent, striving persona Butcher has always grappled with the past few seasons. As long as he continues down the Supe'icide path, his "Venom" appendages are at the ready!

The creator of this series is awesome Eric Kripke also did the series ' Supernatural ' with a couple Bobby supernatural references in this episode when the politician Singer said Idget and Balls his 2 most common things to say every episode he is in on supernatural, Soldier Boy is Dean Winchester Jared Padelecki ( Sam Winchester) is supposed to come to the boys in season 5 now that his Walker show got cancelled. Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays John Winchester ( The Dad ) in Supernatural. The guy at the beginning of season 4 that could clone himself is Chuck in Supernatural And it's funny the episode with multiple supernatural references has a shape shifter which they hunt shape shifters sometimes regularly in supernatural
My theory on who Sage meant by "the only person" Homelander can't beat is Ryan. All of Homelander's powers but without any of the psychology issues that were inflicted upon him.
So he wasn't taking more V. JDM 's character has control over him because he's the disease. When he collapsed in the bar it was JDM who made him collapse, because he wasn't going to go through with the plan. If you watch his face while he's laying there you can tell he purposely is doing it. He also tells him a few times that he can help him etc. meaning help him feel better. Once Butcher agrees (head nod) to take JDM offer when he's over Grace, that's when JDM heals him so he's strong enough to fight back.

I was kind of surprised that Butcher spared Zoe's life and made no move to hurt Annie or Kimiko. Maybe he isn't as far gone as his evil split personality wants him to be. I wonder if his Becca personality will make an appearance next season, to pull him back from going completely genocidal.
She hasn’t appeared since his suped up Kessler cancer thing told her to shut her cakehole. He still plans on genocide since that was the “bargain”. The evil side of him has complete control at this point.
I think it has to do with the fact that they weren’t an immediate threat and even Kessler took over, he is still a part of Butcher who has all his memories and thus has a tiny bit of sympathy for those he previously worked with. I wouldn’t be surprised about Zoe either since he knew about her friendship with Ryan when he met with him back in episode 1.
I don't understand why people say the boys' season 4 is bad. Yeah, you could say it's the weakest season, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Being the weakest season in the boys is still better than most shows on Netflix.
@@AlbertWeskerVR I feel like one half of the people who disliked did because of this season's weird pace. I rewatched the season all at once when the last episode came out, and it was much more enjoyable to watch because the last few episodes have so much payoff. Since we were watching one episode per week, I feel like the payoff took much longer to come. But if you rewatch all at once, it comes so fast that it starts to make sense and you barely notice the weird pace of the first episodes. The other half? They dislike it because they are only now finding out that they are the people this show has been mocking since season 1 lmao.
Grace's death is going to haunt poor Ryan. But it was definitely wrong of her to dump all that awful crap on him all at once and then following it up with threatening to imprison him with the intention of turning him into a weapon.

Erin’s acting in this episode was amazing. Showed she has range and a really good actress. It’s always amazing when you’re acting with yourself but being a completely other person.
(this is my theory) The reason Butcher looks fine is because the tumour is a super tumour created by temp V and is basically sentient. Now that Butcher is pretty much gone, given up and giving control to the tumour, the tumour is keeping him alive instead of killing him
Fun fact. The creators of this show is also Supernatural. The shape shifters in both shows tore their skins off. They also use the same actors between both shows, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles etc. Supernatural was on for 15 years and there is a reason for that. I know its allot of seasons but Its worth it!
Well, I see two sides. 1) They know a shapeshifter exists and Annie isn't acting totally normally. 2) People act differently all the time, especially when they are stressed or want to cover up the fact that they are stressed. Hughie might well have accepted Annie changing a bit because he wants it to be a real change. People do that all the time too.

How were they supposed to know it can take over the memories of its victims? Let's be real, without the audience being shown what happened, the shifter could become Annie at the start of the season and no one would have even suspected a thing. The fact Hughie realized so quickly is already incredibly impressive. Also even if they know about a shapeshifter, are they now supposed to not trust literally anyone, including the core members and arguably strongest member of the team barring maybe Kimiko? At that point they wouldn't even be able to function. She is just victim blaming and I'm certain that if genders were reversed there would be no discussion. Add to that your second point with the stress etc. and there is essentially no way for someone to discover the truth, literally Batman/Sherlock Holmes level of detective work needs to be done to realize she's not the real Annie. Thing is, I don't care about her grieving over this cause obviously she was also the victim in all this but I hate her for pinning it on Hughie and forcing him to apologize, essentially beg for forgiveness for getting SA'ed.
@@patrickwitek Shapeshifters are SO powerful as a narrative device. You HAVE to specify what sort of power set they have, or basically any story you tell will have a ton of loopholes. As you say, paranoia would destroy the team as effectively as physical violence - the movie 'The Thing' is a perfect example of this. I don't know if I agree that Annie is forcing Hughie to apologise, but she is not being as understanding as she could be, especially as she knows very well that the shifter has access to her memories and would therefore be able to answer any questions etc normally used to identify a fake. Realistically Hughie thought the shifter WAS Annie, he didn't cheat on her.
20:08 Octopus can actually hold their breath for couple minutes as long as they get prepared before being out the water. When The Deep crushed the aquarium, she wasn't prepared for that.
it seems that some people clearly dont pay attention. episode one: they showed annie had trained enough during the time skip to fly up to the highest floor to try and catch frenchie and kimiko. later the episode they showed annie training balance with her flight clearly indicating that she has been practicing. episode four: annie flew to firecracker with ease clearly indicating that she now knows how to fly. for the people saying its " plot armor " its quite literally not.
I think that regardless of how many people thought this season overall was a bit slower and weak writing wise, I feel like this finale made everyone all worth it and I’d probably the best finale I’ve seen recently. I’m stoked for the final season and hope we won’t have to wait so long!
Nicki and Steven, good reactions thru all 8 episodes. If they start filming season 5 in November that probably means we MIGHT see it next winter. I hope they do it quicker since in October I celebrate my 79th birthday and who knows if I'll be around for season 5. But, my health is good and I plan on being here. Once again, good job kids.
So I found it weird that the next time we see Ryan after homelander finds the picture was with Mallory at a underground government facility, and I didn't consider being a hallucination prior to reading this comment so you might be on to something low-key
Good thing is we get many supes allies to help fight Homelander now. Maeve (she can gain her power back like Kimiko), A-Train, Ashley, Zoe, Starlight, Kimiko, Gen V's characters and maybe Ryan too. Plus, Butcher's a Supes now. Can't wait for the final season
A lot of nuances were missed. Hughie's mom gave him her ring for Annie when his dad was dying. Ambrosia said "I need time to prepare to be out of the tank" when she was in his bed so when Deep smashed her tank, she didn't have time. Starlight was learning to fly, she just needed to come to terms with herself to "unlock" her entire potential.
I was so excited to see Nikki's reaction to Love Sausage's return 😂😂😂 Can't wait to see what powers Ashley gets. Loved Erin's evil Starlight acting. So good 😈

Annie's performance was so good in this finale. For an on the surface dumb character like The Deep, the actor showed so much range throughout the season. Also Sage and Homelander's scene at the end from both actors side was gold... all in all you right the acting was top notch all around.
Settle down lol. Its awesome and fun, but its not in the same stratosphere as something like Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Succession.

I feel everyone who gets powers as adults through Compound V or Temp V has it based on some trauma: Butcher got Homelander's powers for what he did to Becca. Hughie gained teleportation because of Robin getting "flashed" out of existence. Hugh Sr. faded constantly in and out because his wife faded out of his life. So, yeah, Ashley losing her hair because of the constant stress she's enduring at Vought? Very likely she's getting hair-related powers.
With her brain pulsing plus The Boys being weird, I'd love if they somehow made it so it was Medusa but instead of snakes it's her brain. Like if you took the squiggly parts of our brains and stretched it really long into "hair".

Batgirl was already 20 million over budget, test screenings were supposedly widely panned, and would need an unknown amount of money to fix the movie. Starlight hasnt always been able to fly "like that". Earlier in the season she can barely stay balanced a few feet off the ground and Hughie is helping her train.
Maybe the trainining helped her level up and now she doesnt need electricity around to make her powers work, maybe she can drain power from the sun like supermen. Since they were in plain field and her power worked.

Perhaps the last shackle that was limiting her full potential was herself. Being unable to face her past demons, her regrets, and trying to bury the past without coming to terms with it. Fighting that shapeshifter was a big character developnent moment to confront herself. It allowed her to break through the last psychological barrier that was holding her back.
That super is a telepathy too. And unlocked her true potential. Not everything is what it seems I feel.

I don't think Butcher on his death bed was an act for Ryan. I feel like Butcher was 100% ready to die and leave his hopes of stopping Homelander with Ryan. But Mallory dropped too much too fast, and with Ryan killing her, Butcher lost that hope.
Starlight started levitating in the finale of season three when Hughie supercharged her so she could fight Soldier Boy. Several times in season four Starlight has practiced "flying" with moderate results. That last flying scene was the first time she really, really flew.

Think of Kessler like the personality of the tumor growing inside Butcher's brain. When Butcher isn't doing what Kessler wants, he starts killing Butcher slowly like a cancer, but once Butcher follows his advice, he can instantly heal Butcher. Also, as we've seen previously, Kessler is like a split personality. He can quite literally take over Butcher, which is pretty much what happens, indicated by him looking at the mirror in the end and seeing Kessler in his stead.

I love how everyone (even me and my coworkers watching this when we shouldn't have been) realized after about the second or third "No" that Kimiko is speaking.
No she hasn’t always been able to fly like that…. We saw in earlier episodes that she had figured out how to hover, and kinda fly for a short distance in an uncoordinated way, but flying off like Neo at that speed was new …. and not to mention that in every previous instance of her hovering/flying she had to draw power from surrounding electricity sources in order to do it - but in the final scene they are out in the middle of nowhere so it’s not clear where she is getting power from. Maybe her powers came back with new capabilities? I guess we will have to see if they explain that in S5.

Pretty sure that what was going on with butcher was that the parasite was purposely making him unhealthy, and then when he decided to play ball fully with the parasite, the parasite healed him.
Also, starlight was flying at the beginning of the season, just not as fast and as Superman like as that.
As many said here about Butcher: He's basically Venom now, the dark impulses of his phantom ego allow him to operate free from the tumor-riddled, ambivalent, striving persona Butcher has always grappled with the past few seasons.

My theory on who Sage meant by "the only person" Homelander can't beat is Ryan. All of Homelander's powers but without any of the psychology issues that were inflicted upon him.

So he wasn't taking more V. JDM 's character has control over him because he's the disease. When he collapsed in the bar it was JDM who made him collapse, because he wasn't going to go through with the plan. If you watch his face while he's laying there you can tell he purposely is doing it. He also tells him a few times that he can help him etc. meaning help him feel better. Once Butcher agrees (head nod) to take JDM offer when he's over Grace, that's when JDM heals him so he's strong enough to fight back.

I was kind of surprised that Butcher spared Zoe's life and made no move to hurt Annie or Kimiko. Maybe he isn't as far gone as his evil split personality wants him to be. I wonder if his Becca personality will make an appearance next season, to pull him back from going completely genocidal.

She hasn’t appeared since his suped up Kessler cancer thing told her to shut her cakehole. He still plans on genocide since that was the “bargain”. The evil side of him has complete control at this point.
I think it has to do with the fact that they weren’t an immediate threat and even Kessler took over, he is still a part of Butcher who has all his memories and thus has a tiny bit of sympathy for those he previously worked with. I wouldn’t be surprised about Zoe either since he knew about her friendship with Ryan when he met with him back in episode 1.
I don't understand why people say the boys' season 4 is bad. Yeah, you could say it's the weakest season, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Being the weakest season in the boys is still better than most shows on Netflix.

I rewatched the season all at once when the last episode came out, and it was much more enjoyable to watch because the last few episodes have so much payoff.
Since we were watching one episode per week, I feel like the payoff took much longer to come. But if you rewatch all at once, it comes so fast that it starts to make sense and you barely notice the weird pace of the first episodes.
The other half? They dislike it because they are only now finding out that they are the people this show has been mocking since season 1 lmao.

(this is my theory) The reason Butcher looks fine is because the tumour is a super tumour created by temp V and is basically sentient. Now that Butcher is pretty much gone, given up and giving control to the tumour, the tumour is keeping him alive instead of killing him
Fun fact. The creators of this show is also Supernatural. The shape shifters in both shows tore their skins off. They also use the same actors between both shows, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jensen Ackles etc. Supernatural was on for 15 years and there is a reason for that. I know its allot of seasons but Its worth it!

Well, I see two sides. 1) They know a shapeshifter exists and Annie isn't acting totally normally. 2) People act differently all the time, especially when they are stressed or want to cover up the fact that they are stressed.
Hughie might well have accepted Annie changing a bit because he wants it to be a real change. People do that all the time too.

How were they supposed to know it can take over the memories of its victims? Let's be real, without the audience being shown what happened, the shifter could become Annie at the start of the season and no one would have even suspected a thing. The fact Hughie realized so quickly is already incredibly impressive. Also even if they know about a shapeshifter, are they now supposed to not trust literally anyone, including the core members and arguably strongest member of the team barring maybe Kimiko? At that point they wouldn't even be able to function. She is just victim blaming and I'm certain that if genders were reversed there would be no discussion.
Add to that your second point with the stress etc. and there is essentially no way for someone to discover the truth, literally Batman/Sherlock Holmes level of detective work needs to be done to realize she's not the real Annie. Thing is, I don't care about her grieving over this cause obviously she was also the victim in all this but I hate her for pinning it on Hughie and forcing him to apologize, essentially beg for forgiveness for getting SA'ed.

As you say, paranoia would destroy the team as effectively as physical violence - the movie 'The Thing' is a perfect example of this. I don't know if I agree that Annie is forcing Hughie to apologise, but she is not being as understanding as she could be, especially as she knows very well that the shifter has access to her memories and would therefore be able to answer any questions etc normally used to identify a fake. Realistically Hughie thought the shifter WAS Annie, he didn't cheat on her.

it seems that some people clearly dont pay attention. episode one: they showed annie had trained enough during the time skip to fly up to the highest floor to try and catch frenchie and kimiko. later the episode they showed annie training balance with her flight clearly indicating that she has been practicing. episode four: annie flew to firecracker with ease clearly indicating that she now knows how to fly. for the people saying its " plot armor " its quite literally not.
