    Your videos are great. I love watching them. But this is the best one of all....brings back so many memories...crisp day plowing in the field before cabs were common on tractors, and the wonderful sound from the large displacement of the motor. Kudos to the lucky owner of this tractor, I love how he compensates for the missing air cleaner cover.

    Brings back so many memories .... Sitting BETWEEN the wheels leaning on the mudguard / fender (not)listening to the engine roar - to get an extra dimension of perception of load to adjust the draft control - Huh - and we need 4WD now? LOOK - 2Wd without duals AND a Trailed Plow - no hydraulic draft control here - just weight transfer thru' speed. we can learn a lot from some of these good videos. Many thanks

    Cool looking old Mini-Mo. Just something about an old tractor rolling across the field with a chrome straight pipe. It sounds really good under the load of that plow. My favorite way to hear them. LOL You got some pretty good footage of her, I can almost smell the diesel & dirt. LOL

    That must be some heavy dirt out there in Iowa. My old 806 would runs away with 5-16s in our heavy black jack. Pretty cool seeing an old Moline out and about. Not to many in my area, much less one this size. There's still a bunch of Olivers and Whites running around though.

      canvids1 Did it for years on lots of different tractors and a couple of dozers. I have some mid range hearing loss in my left ear. That's from looking over my right shoulder. HD11 Allis dozer was the loudest and an 8000 Ford with a tin can cab was an echo chamber. I use ear plugs occasionally now. Today's cabs are wonderful.

      The Olivers and Molines had similar horse power ratings. MM had a front forward design where Oliver was more compact. White Motors discontinued the Oliver 2150 in 1969 and replaced it with the Oliver 2155 which was a G-1350 painted green.

    Crazy part is these tractors had an N/A 585ci motor puttin out 140 hp when jd 6030 only had 531ci but was turbo'd puttin out 180 hp. Imagine if the g1355 was turbo'd and intercooled. It would have been a monster

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  Рік тому +1

      The Moline engine was big. They used it in the big 2wd s and 4wds. It’s interesting how companies geared tractors in the top range in 1972 from 139 Hp in the G-155 to 175 Hp like the 6030.

  • @turbo5488
    @turbo5488 Рік тому

    That Minneapolis Moline G1350 for having 180 horsepower, those back tires should be 20in tires on the back of that tractor, and it would give it more traction with less tire slipping

    • @sammagedanz2457

      Sam Magedanz cant be true, most US made umplements doesnt work here because off hard clay in The soul, many have tried cultuvators but doesn't work. But you can get an old Oliver plough work fine but never nearby as good as a Kverneland for example.

    • @jtoddjb
      @jtoddjb 5 років тому +1

      Funny you mention that. I've always wondered why Europeans are so into making perfect furrows right down to the millimeter. I understand taking pride in your work, but I cant imagine plowing several hundred acres of ground and stopping 50 times worrying about everything being absolutely perfect. Fall tillage would be done by mid summer. Do those perfectly even and exact depth furrows really help produce that much more during the growing season? We're going to disc it anyway and break up any residue left. Most of us here don't plough very often or even at all. I guess some of my opinion comes from watching those crazy ploughing competitions, but I understand that's not farming it's a competition. I do enjoy seeing and hearing about the differences in the way people farm in other parts of the world. I'm sure we all have lots to learn from each other.

      +rockinhonda I messed up on that one. When I arrived for filming they said 6 bottoms. They had been running a 6 bottom but switched to a 5.

    Nice machine but big and noisy. Without hearing protection he will end up with permanent hearing loss. It might sound cool for a minute or two but after that it is just noise. To bad Minneapolis Moline is just a part of history now.

      +Douglass Wilkin there was a mix up on that. It had a 6 bottom the day before but they switched to a 5 bottom. Filming into the sun I did not see they switched plows.

    Minnie's left a bad taste in farmer's mouths such as my father. When the old MINNIE'S went from from gas to diesel they didn't have the power they should. They didn't increase the displacement of the engines for diesel fuel. My Dad went to John Deere and never looked back.

    Needs wider tires.Too much slippage. Pulling a 5-16 Oliver, not 6-16. Need 8-16. wasting fuel and time.

      He’d do better to put duals cause wider tires such as flotation tires can make it slip worse than what it does now

    • @xade7863

      Plowing has lots of advantages and can be the best way to build up land and is better for the land than no till or disking and doing stuff like that
