I had mine in southern Indiana, and do I miss it!! My current location I have in the plan to build an off grid cabin, while the main house is tied to the grid. If I wouldn’t have had family (grand children) I would have went south more.
I've been wanting to get a piece of land and do a complete off grid homestead BUT I'm not sure where I want to do it LOL all I know is doing it here in Vermont is not going to happen. I would like to find somewhere that isn't either winter or raining 12 months of the year and just a warmer climate. I've looked at southern missouri, arizona or west texas but not sure exactly.
@@JeremyLJordan one good thing about Missouri is that if you are far enough from town in the boonies you don't need building permits. We lived in Southern Missouri for 10 years; you get a short winter but need to plant garden in late February early March because it gets too hot and dry in the summer for good crops unless you can water. We were 45 minutes south of Joplin. Good place to live except that it is tornado alley.
I've lived in the south and spent alot of time in the woods there. Judging by your terrain I'm betting the coast of NC, SC, or anywhere in Georgia. The sandy soil and pine trees are a good indicator. Personally I would do a colder climate as the heat of summer and humidity is going to be brutal unless you have AC. I would over insulate your place as much as possible and design for good airflow. Also, be careful of snakes as it warms up. Copperheads are all over the south and can be pretty aggressive. They will blend right in with the dead pine needles and can be easy to step on if you aren't careful. I haven't seen someone try to do off grid in the south so I'm interested to see how it goes for you. I wish you luck!
I can tell your channel is going to be one of my top 4 I look forward to weekly. So far, loving your vision with the shed/house, garden, orchard and kitchen 👍❤️
I'm so happy to see you engaged with nature at a new level and exploring the property with a vision of the future. I hope you can build into your budget a solar sauna within the cabin to enjoy the health benefits and relaxation it might provide. Cheers!
Hello from South Africa. I'm enjoying watching and I have to say that you obviously love cooking. Seeing how you went about it and the ingredients you used it comes across like that. Here the Dutch oven is almost a must have that gets used mostly on the fire, but also in the kitchen. They are also used a lot for baking bread on the coals. I love the flavour the open fire gives and here it's part of the culture. I'm looking forward to watching the shed/cabin build and the wrap around porch is going to be awesome. I'll be watching, thank you for sharing. Greetings from Cape Town. 👍❤️🇿🇦
My favorite vids and channels are like this. I live vicariously through them. (too old and crippled) You're living your dream and doing it well. Thank you and don't ever give up. You're also doimg it for those such as I. And on another subject, you know that you can do many other things with your dutch oven such as bake breads and cakes and cobblers. Just sayin'. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you.
The 3rd episode of your move to your new property popped up on my feed. I enjoy watching off grid new builds but I personally could do without the background music. I would rather just hear all the natural sounds and you talking. I hope you enjoy your new home. Stay safe out there.
get your gardens going right now.. other wise the summer will fry your crops.. I am in N. Fl and learned this the hard way..Build your gardens where you get morning sun and afternoon shade..wish I knew this before building my garden beds...😊
Nice! Starting to feel like the kind of off-grid channel that could blow up. Wishing you great success. Btw, consider putting in a cut-and-paste intro with a logo (check out "Cabin River Outdoors"). Makes it feel more like a weekly channel. Your edits are good, and I personally like the music. It feels unique. Thanks for sharing.
If you do or if you would… where would you live off grid? A cold or warm environment?

AZ, in the desert. In the mountains. In a cave. With water. Not asking for much, am I? 😂

So glad the ground percs!!! Looking forward to starting the shed-to-cabin build soon!

You have a beautiful property and I'm happy your soil passed the test 😊👍

Another great insight... thanks for sharing!
You’re making great progress. Thanks for the update. Best wishes.
Wonderful
I'm glad your land perked. Yes, always do this first, then buy the land. Safer to not get tied to worthless land you can't live on.

I wonder if there is a clay layer holding that water... might be useful if so.
Where does all your money come from, it can't be youtube? 😆
I mean economics is an interesting subject living off grid.
Cut the music please❤
Veggies & tomato broth? Wheres your protein? I need meat.
Stew was missing protein 🥩. Vegan perhaps?
PLEASE no music while you talk. Music covers your voice which is very soft.
I like your music choices just not while you are talking.
