How to graft Peyote seedlings onto pereskiopsis. Lophophora williamsii grow-along EP3.

- Today we are micro-grafting Lophophora williamsii and Fricii seedlings. They will be my mother plants to create true to type seeds for me. The graft stock we chose is pereskiopsis as it is the best stock for young seedlings. In this video I show how to graft Peyote or lophophora williamsii seedlings onto pereskiopsis to speed up growth. This is likely the fastest way to grow Peyote from seed to flower. I hope you find this video useful and share it with interested persons. You'll also learn what tools you require.

"Wait a week or two after the last watering" 👍👍👍 those little details are awesome to hear, helps give more insight into success and failures 😊
Never knew about waiting after watering. Thanks for the heads up
No worries!
Good information❤
your lophs at 10 days look better than mine at a month lol. Great vid.
Thank you so much! I’ve been growing from seed for nearly 5 years and this speed is a result of many failures!
yes indeed, please share your methods in detail! I know there are many out there, but never hurts to have more. Recognize some items from precious cactus there ;) @@WillsCactusGarden
what soil mix you use for growing from seeds?
Thanks for sharing! Great video! 😊
бомба видос!
So impressive! I need to read up on grafting
Awesome tips thank you so much.❤
It looks like I would snag the root stock and send the loph flying across the room if I tried that. Very good dexterity
I cut those clips out! 🤣 in seriousness, it definitely is something that you get better at with practice. On my first attempt years ago. I had tried to graft 20 seedlings. Of those only 2 grew. The nerves and inexperience made bad results but each time after it got better and better!
I encourage you to try. Thanks watching and I hope to chat with you again!
Thanks for not having DnB music playing while making a tutorial 👍😊
Thanks for such a great video on grafting with pereskiopsis and the second camera angle was excellent! Looking forward to your next video
Glad you enjoyed it! I will be making more soon! Hopefully an update to these guys when they take and start growing
I dido this comment! second that motion, and its unanimously decided, We all look very forward to your next video! Great work sir!
@@cactuscapacity thanks for watching mark! will do. the grafts are taking and I thought i would make a video about that. perhaps by the weekend
@@WillsCactusGarden truly excited to see this unfold! I graft often but not micrograft...
Try carefully snapping the double edge razor blade into two so you only have one edge to worry about.
Oh no i did not think about glochids on pereskiopsis i just ordered two but i hate glochids so now i have to order harrisia becus i will not work with glochids
Good choice! I love Harrisia. Besides being a good stock. It is a very beautiful stock.
What temperature are you keeping the room at and how long do you leave the light on each day?
So I have some pereskiopsis and loph Willi I am preparing for making some grafts, I nursed the pereskiopsis back to health, they were pretty neglected when I got them , a week ago they were all looking really great and ready to be grafted onto. But I didn't have all the supplies I needed to follow through. No I have all the supplies but I'm noticing that the bottom leaves on the pere are yellowing, and pretty fast. A little bit more each day.. working up towards the top. I guess my question is, is this yellowing normal? Should I be concerned about it? I see some of your pere also have yellow leaves and you still graft to them. Should I just ignore the yellowing?
Also is there a way to stop it from progressing further up the plants, I was feeling really good about them having all great looking green leaves and now I'm a bit confused and concerned about them.
Please anyone who has knowledge, help if you can . Open to all and any suggestions.
I just want this to work ya know.
Thanks I. Advance, I hope someone sees this.
Hi, the yellowing of the leaves is normal. Pereskiopsis is a cactus that likes to stay wet and rarely dies from rot. When they get a pause in watering (which is what we want to do for grafting) They will use up moisture from the leaves and shed the leaves. After grafting you leave it for a few days for the grafts to connect then you begin watering them. To keep the leaves green long term you do not want to let these plants get bone dry for extended periods of time. Unless wintering of course.
@@WillsCactusGardenis your Instagram the same name as here on ytb?
You don’t apply any pressure to the scion? I noticed some people don’t do that with seedlings, why is that?
Pereskiopsis takes easy and requires no pressure, you just need to make sure there is no air bubble. So I do press down with my razor initially
@@WillsCactusGarden thank you! Have you ever tried grafting the bottom cut? I saw someone do it with a Trich and he got a lot of pups!
Can the little root parts be replanted?
Do you immediately place the grafted plants under light? If not how long do you wait to re introduce them?
Where do you get The seeds?
You can add me on discord @ will.lophostore I can point you towards some sources
