    A lot of people have done videos of this trail. Yours is the best I've seen. You are a talented filmmaker. So many creative shots, wonderfully edited, nice use of music, etc. Thank you for sharing your adventure!

    Thank you so much for talking about your fears and racing thoughts at 3 am. I would surely go through that. I watch other women solo backpack . I would love to overcome my fear someday. It would open my life up! Great video!

    I'm so excited to find your channel! A local female hiker! I love it! This trail has been on my list. Thanks for sharing your trip and also the not so fun anxiety that can come from camping alone. I appreciate your honesty and it makes me feel better about my anxiety when hiking. ❤

    That structure you were in is a pumphouse commonly used after oil is discovered .

      Thank you! Yeah as much research as I did, I still didn’t expect the trail to be as tough as it was. And, I learned my lesson to be much more careful traversing slippery areas 😅

    I live in Oil City and have OCSP in my backyard. It's such an underused resource. Glad no harm came to you but the thoughts in your head. I live with the philosophy most people are good in this world. Glad you had a great time, hope you saw the eagles nest, and the tics weren't too bad.

    Beautiful trail.
    The shelters are cute with their built-in fireplace.
    What is your sleeping shelter? Perfect to keep the bugs away 👌

      I love the shelters on this trail-they’re great. I always feel better in a tent for bugs and mice and overall peace of mind. It’s an old Walmart 1-person backpacking tent. I got it a couple of years ago and it doesn’t look like they sell it anymore, but it’s similar to this one: www.walmart.com/ip/Backpacking-Tent-Outdoor-Camping-Sleeping-Bag-Tent-Lightweight-Single-Person-Tent/1932637577?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101044642&adid=222222222281932637577_101044642_152829799915_18632966383&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=668495789458&wl4=pla-2174540639469&wl5=9005935&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=276348093&wl11=online&wl12=1932637577_101044642&veh=sem&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIp9GpYDINmyhKq_MmIc6yPV_&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlN6wBhCcARIsAKZvD5gIGODGx5zUQyPD4Xr5nFqupsIHkbejQeDm2WhwDO56Y2kg3R7lN1UaAq2-EALw_wcB

    I think us women that hike and do solo trips always feel the need to be EXTRA aware and or weary of fellow hikers or backpackers around us... It's a paranoia that we instill in ourselves for protection. Usually there is nothing to be worried about but we all have heard the stories....

    • @AlexandraVenture
      @AlexandraVenture  5 місяців тому +5

      Absolutely. It’s a fragile balance. Always being that extra bit observant and on edge can be tiring, but it is necessary to be safe.

    I used to work in security protection. People keeping themselves safe. I would advise that if you meet anybody in passing. Let them know you're about to meet up with your boyfriends with friends, and that's where you are on your way to go.
    Study self defense. Keep legal weapons on you, such as bear spread, pepper spray etc. Different states are different, so it's really hard to say what exactly you can carry.

    Nice video and commentary about solo hiking alone as a female. I often come across solo female hikers and when alone with one at a camp wonder how to ease their minds that I’m not a psycho and just out hiking to be entrenched in nature. In the past I’ve simply introduced myself and made small talk about the hike and area. Wondering your perspective on if that’s a good approach or if there is a better way to help the female easy any concerns?

    • @AlexandraVenture
      @AlexandraVenture  25 днів тому

      I think making small talk and introducing yourself is great and really all you can do besides just being mindful. Like if you’re at camp and there’s multiple spots, set up as far away from a solo woman as possible. While hiking don’t ask a woman if she’s alone or where she’s going cause that can come off like you might have bad intentions. But honestly just caring and being empathetic is great. And of course we all know that 99 times out of 100 guys are just out there to enjoy nature same as us, but it’s hard not to have some anxiety!

    Don't let your apprehension hold you back. By and large any man who would be out there would either be doing the same or hunting or fishing.

    Glad you enjoyed where I grew up. In spite of being an ultramarathoner I ran/hiked very little of that area as I wasn't a runner when I was growing up. Nice to see it through others' eyes.

    Thank you for sharing this trip and for being open about the fears and anxieties. I deal with the same struggles when I go out alone. It takes a very brave person to face fear and not let it stand in the way of what you want to do. It is very encouraging to see other female hikers/backpackers getting out and doing solo trips.
