    I just started to breed and care for viper geckos! I was one of those request for another video featuring them. I appreciate you taking the time to do this! Also I've been told that as adults viper geckos don't really climb glass but my male has scaled smooth glass many times so just something I thought i'd share as it seems very uncommon!

    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  2 роки тому +1

      I have open tops on mine and never see them climb the glass. Are you sure they are climbing glass or are they climbing something else to get out (even the seam- silicone)? Just a thought

    • @Shadow9Gaurdian
      @Shadow9Gaurdian 2 роки тому +1

      @@SupremeGecko Nope, I couldnt believe it. I watched him scale right up the middle of the bare glass wall. My female hasn't done that but it seems its a possibility. Could even be that he had special genetics that allowed him to retain more of his toe pads or something of that manner. I posted the picture on reptile or gecko reddit board.

      I've watched several of our adults scale the sides mission impossible style, and when we initially got ours we lost two from the top/back of our tank... One did turn up again a few weeks later, it's still very small but at least her tail grew back and other than size she's thriving now. Needless to say we secured the heck out of the top after our lil snafu

    Is exoterra "stone desert" a good option for substrate or will it be to hard for them to dig/enjoy after it sets from a mister? I want a naturalist scape for them but still plan of offering some tubs of regular repti-sand in case the females prefer that looser substrate to lay eggs in. I considered cutting the Stone desert substrate with a bag of terra isopoda from biodude & go bioactive but that seems like a bad idea with no experience going bioactive let alone arid bioactive. any advice is greatly apreciated

    • @SupremeGecko
      @SupremeGecko  Рік тому

      Potatoes. Place a thin slice of potato over the substrate, go off and grab a cup of coffee, come back in about 10-15 minutes and the mealies will be gathered on the slice. Pick up the slice and gently brush them off with your finger into a deli cup.
