Sounds like you have thought this process out the right way. Good luck and please keep all of us posted on your progress.
Much appreciated Sir!

Love it man!
Thank you!
Yeah not surprised WM stopped servicing that county. A lot of WM yards nowadays have full Compressed Natural Gas truck fleets, which those trucks are quite underpowered meaning they struggle on steep grades and often stall out if revved to hard. WM also has been trying to pull out of residential operations all over the country, because to them commercial stops are more profitable. Wishing your business much luck and success!
Didn't know that, good info, thanks!
Brad, I think you're on to a great idea and business opportunity. Over 50 years ago, our neighbor had a similar idea for a city in Lakewood, California. He mortgaged his home to buy a very used dump truck. This guy worked all the time along with his band of employees. In the evening hours you could find him and his only mechanic working on that truck until morning. That statup rapidly grew and after a year he bought another two trucks. His territory grew and grew. He became one of the richest men in the area.
Praying for your success and that you find joy and goodness in your growth and in your employees. They truly will be the backbone of your new business!
That is an awesome story! I hope for just a part of that success. Thank you for the kind comment!
Brad what you could also provide is bulk trash pickup as opposed to residential side of things.
The Ventrac would pair nicely with that!
Congratulations on the trash business Brad! This is a major step up from lawncare but, all that 💸 gonna be coming in 😂🙌🏼
I hope that is the case, we will see! :D
Another advantage to starting up the business is that it would be year-round as opposed to seasonal with lawn cutting.
Plus your wife will build up strong arm muscles as the official trash container dumper.
;)
LOL I like the way you think!
Good luck Brad! What you are doing is how people move forward in life! Take chances and do something different. I look forward in watching more of your videos!
Very kind comment, thank you!
The profession gets looked down on, but I've never met a poor trash company owner. I would make sure there's a clear policy on what can and can't be put in the trash. Country folks like to put all sorts of stuff in there. I get friendly reminders on not putting metal or concrete in mine. We have dumpsters that cost 65/month
Very good points, thank you!
I love following your new business and seeing it start from the ground up. I always liked your down to earth and realistic approach to your business. You'll do great!
I appreciate it Sir! Good to see your name and hope you have been well!
Brad, I always enjoy the thoughtfulness and detail of your commentary. It's been a pleasure to watch your lawn care business grow into the storm water side projects and now the garbage/trash business. Looking forward to watching the business grow!!! 👍
Thank you so much!
Excited for your new journey and business! Thanks for sharing!!
Very appreciative of the comment!
Thanks for sharing small business tips. You have business diversity that gives you year round work.
Thank you for watching!
I've been watching your videos for several years now and seeing how well your lawn care business is managed and has grown, I think this venture will also work out well! All we need now are "7 hours of trash collecting in 3 minutes" videos!
LOL excellent video idea!
Good luck on the new business! Have really enjoyed watching your lawn care videos over the years.
Thank you kindly!
I am extremely excited to follow you on this journey. It may be difficult, but video ideas to show the difficulty/barriers to starting and running a brand new business. You seem so confident that it may be intimidating to those who are fresh to the environment. May be a good series, I would definitely watch!
The confidence will last right up until I smack my face into my first issue, which I am sure will be very quickly! :D
Good morning, Brad. This sounds pretty well thought out. I wish you lots of luck and great prosperity in your new venture! Go get that💵💵💰💰!!
Much appreciated!
Nice you have figured a way to help your area.
Thank you!
Good choice. Wise words. I’ve been watching you for years. Love it man. Keep it up . God bless and congratulations. Sounds like you’ve done your research and found a gold mine. Get after it 💪❤️💯🙏🤝 I own a lawn care & landscaping business and thought about starting a junk removal business. Low cost to get it. I already have the trailer and possible man power of my self and one employee and it’s quick money. Minimum job could start 200-300 ful ltrailer most complained do about 4-600 plus. I use to be a supervisor as a moving company before full time lawn care and there they had junk removal so easy money. You can just throw stuff in the trailer and save things that u could resell. Who did your sweet logos ?
Thanks for watching and the kind words! DartDesigns on fiverr, they did my copper creek logos as well.
Good luck to you on this new adventure.
Thank you!
Nice! I'm from southern California, and we had to pay as well when I was thwre. Waste management was one, some other dudes would stop by other houses in the neighborhood. Pretty high density area however an unincorporated town, not a city. Here in MD, our property taxes cover weekly pickup and unlimited visits to the dump. I don't know how they do that but it's nice when I gotta chuck away big stuff. Edit: good luck! You aren't going to need it. Gratz on following your dreams and stuff :)
Thank you for the kind words!
Good Luck! Hope it all works out.
Thank you, me too!
Good luck with your new business. I think it will do great.
Thank you kindly!
Very insightful, it always seems wise to me to diversify one's business. If anything goes wrong on some market you can always fall back to the other ones. Good luck with it!
Very true, thank you so much for watching!
Lets freakin gooooooo Bud!! No doubt in my mind you'll turn this into a successful & profitabke business. Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
I hope so, but we will see!
waste management got in trouble in Michigan,
Didn't know that!
I'm sorry to hear things are this bad in rural areas of your county, that is awful. I will say, it would be better if all the roads were paved in your area, I did see your video where you were losing tracking and barely got through that sandy dirt road. I'm really grateful that you are filling a need in your area, I consider it very honorable what you are doing. And if I lived in your area, I know that I would personally appreciate what you are doing. Trash pickup service is heavily important, its part of sanitation for a civilized society, to maintain health standards, and standards of living.
I really appreciate the kind words, thank you!
Congratulations on your new adventure. I don't know what conditions your landfills are in, but having to go out in any conditions type of weather. I do believe you will have to trade your new truck for a 4 wheel drive so you're not having to ask for assistance as much on those nasty days, weeks, and so on.
I may be wrong as I've only been to the landfill once, but I think the MSW (municipal solid waste) that I would be dumping is in a big concrete crib. I am not, however, taking any clients on dirt roads.
Well congratulations wishing you the very best
Thank you so much!
As I watch your video the theme music for Sanford and son goes through my mind
.
LOL I better be careful I don't start bringing any of the trash home!
good luck Brad.
Thank you!
Very cool Brad. Looks like a good idea, I hope it pans out!
I contemplated if I could cannibalize my poor 2265 for the hydraulic lift system to help lift cans! :D
@@CopperCreekCuts haha i wouldn't recommend that. You might miss that feature when you split firewood again.
If you need some assistance with parts/design feel free to reach out. Or even just to compare pricing for hydraulic components.
@@SplitFireSalesInc I would never hurt my baby 2265 like that! :D I still have to make my 'meat hand' for the 'what could go wrong' shorts!
@@CopperCreekCuts Haha thats good. Lol that might catch the viewers attention😂
Sounds like a smart plan to me. Find a gap and fill it!
Thank you!
Interesting Situation,
I lived in more populated Orlando years ago I didn't realize that kind of situation existed there 👍
Lots of different ways for trash pickup to work!
Trash is a great business to be in. My father did that for years and it was very steady and a reliable income.
I love the fact that it is 52 weeks a year!
We had a similar situation when I lived in Spartanburg County, SC. The cities had municipal trash pickup in the city limits, but not outside city limits. I was surprised because I was surprised because Spartanburg County has a relatively high population density and the county where I grew up in north Alabama had trash pickup since at least the early 80's and mandatory pickup (they billed your power bill automatically) since the mid-90's. I liked the little tash and recycling drop off centers they had (most of them could recycle batteries, motor oil, and they had one at the landfill that could accept just about any solid waste), and would like to have them here but wouldn't give up my trash pickup for it.
When I was real little I remember these vividly colored drop offs for certain recycling that were made to look like creatures with friendly eyes and big mouths. You just triggered that memory! :D They have been gone a long time now.
Inspired by your entrepreneurial spirit!
Thank you!
I work for WM right now, and have been really thinking about starting my own trash business since I have a little bit of knowledge of what it takes. Definitely look forward to these new videos and see how you go about doing it. Where/what company did you order the cans from? Where do your customers go and sign up? How will the billing for services take place? Is all this done with the app Jobber?
Excellent questions! I am running the first day of the route tomorrow and will film that for next weekends video. Will discuss all those topics except cans, which will be its own video when they come in (probably a video two weeks from now)
I realize that it's probably not economically feasible at this juncture, but as much as I dislike wearing almost anything orange, I could/would rock a T-shirt with the BCTP logo on it-just saying.
Noted for the future! :D
I started out with a small trash pickup service when our county stopped putting out dumpsters. Small companies did a great job for reasonable price. After several years, a large company (Republic) bought them out. Their prices tripled with in several years. I fired them for another small company. Good luck on your next business!!!!!
Maybe Waste Management comes back in a few years to undercut us all? :D
@@CopperCreekCuts I don’t see them undercutting you……
Good luck to you
Thank you!
well done
Thank you so much!
Hi Brad hope to see another video on the Bobcat
The white stand on mower? That baby is long gone! It was a great mower! If you mean the Ventrac clone, Bobcat doesn't work with me anymore, they used me for the mower swap from green to white and then they kind of skedaddled on me.
Sorry I mean the skid steer I call it a bobcat in Australia
@@drewthornton4684 OHHHH, gotcha! It is still around. Trying to get an update video together!
Good luck :)
Thank you!
How are you lifting the dumpsters over and into the trailer? I would install a rail down the side of the trailer, make a parallel arm lift rig that can lift and tilt the dumpsters over the top yet still roll down the rail as the trailer fills. Could run it with a gas powered hydra pump instead of that battery hydra pump. When you get to landfill switch some valves to tilt the trailer.
Another great question! I am running the first day of the route tomorrow and will film that for next weekends video. Will discuss that topic!
Brad, I think you are making a very good decision!
That said. What are some of the regulations you have to abide by from either County, State, or Federal regulations?
I am really lucking out. Nothing in the county except an $11 business license. No landfill in this county, so to use the next county's over is just driving up to the gates, nothing special needed.
I pay WM $39.99 every month for 1 96 gallon bin. They do a weekly pickup.
They ran around $34.69 in our county for the same.
I think this is a good idea 🤓☝️
Thank you! :D
We are in a rural area and the local trash company does not service our place five miles off the highway on a dirt road. I get it.
#Dirtlife :D
Hey, that's why you're a step ahead of the rest of us. As long as you keep the VenTrac, you can start a chicken hotel for all I care. But deep down, you'll always be a VenTrac man!
The Ventrac will come in handy if we expand to junk removal.
Business.
You want to provide a service that is in demand.
If no one is filling in that demand, and you have the means to supply that demand, go for it.
Also, it's boring doing the exact same stuff for the rest of our lives.
Well said on all counts!
What do you do full time? Besides UA-cam, lawn care, and a dumpster business haha. Good luck
LOL that about sums it up. Lots of part time activities!
"Copper Creek Dumps" :P
LOL!
Hey brother I'm not about gloom and doom but I would like to caution you to be careful when Waste Management first came into Orlando 15 or 18 years ago on more than one occasion their trucks were torched I know the joke is always been that the garbage business was ran by the mob and I don't know what the case is but at that point Waste Management had less than a full 1% of the trash pickup in Orange County and they were still losing a couple trucks a week to arson apparently it's a preventive maintenance type of crime when I say they were small they were still working out of a single wide construction trailer office wise just felt like I should say something I do wish you the best of luck I know how hard it is to be a small business owner
I am half Italian (both grandmothers were full) so hopefully I get a pass in that instance! :D
In New Zealand, companies have historically sold up and cried because they can't have monopolies in areas.
LOL maybe there was some truth to what I heard then!
Or use the dump trailer to haul other stuff besides trash also
Good point!
WM plays games like that we have it all or nothing
I didn't know that, lends some credence to what I heard!
The trash game is a billion dollar industry
Very big business to be sure!
My in laws live in Lafayette County you don't service that area I'm assuming
You assume correct! :D
@CopperCreekCuts I figured just thought I would ask they live on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere and he has to go to the dump to take their trash
You don’t want to be a garbage man you want to be the owner of a garbage company
Nah, just want the money :D
Just watch your back with WM Watch out for Cadillac's and old men in gym suits cruising past you while you work And I most defently wouldn't be going on any boat rides they offer.
LOLOL Very good advice, thank you!
you look different. way different with a beard
I'd look different if I could grow hair on my head, too :(
Born entrepreneur, I'm not like that
You can follow along and live vicariously through me! :D
