Hey all Among Us cosplayers, just letting you know, I am currently working on a dedicated Among Us costume template, I am trying to get it out by next weekend so stay tuned!!
I too was only interested in the space helmet but purchased all. Your subject matter is of great interest to me. Thank you for making the patterns available in one place and for one great price .
I made it just by guess-timating based on the pattern you have on the vids. It's tough eh. It's really just and fair that you sell the template. It's one tough DIY and you made it easy for the buyers to make it. Thank you for this video. Mine is not perfect but my son is ecstatic when he saw it! All the best!
You're a life saver - I was just trying to find a video on making a space helmet. Once I found yours, I immediately bought your pattern. :D After following and making your plague doctor mas pattern, this was a no brainer for me. We bought my son an astronaut costume and the helmet came broken. :/ But by making yours he'll have an even better one! Thanks for all the work you put into these patterns and videos!!
I'm cutting out space helmet number 5 right now.. four kid-size and one adult. We're having an astronaut-party on october 14. Thank you so much for this excellent pattern, it saved me some hours making my own. Thank you. I will send you pictures of this crazy party when its all done.
hello do you happen to have the pattern?? i hate to ask but i need it for a school project and i don't have a credit card or any money to buy things online D:
Steampunk or not, it's a great project. Your explanations are clear and easily understood. And without fail you are ALWAYS so dang funny...I had to pause when you were floating through space, a) to wipe my hysterical laugh induced tears, and b) to make everyone in the house come watch the video...lololol.
aww i thot the pattern was free..its alright..i'll do it when i get older and have my own money cuz i dun wanna waste my parent's one..but either way you are awesome!
What the what? Was searching for an astronaut helmet, thinking I might find something DIY made out of a plastic carton, or bubble wrap. Never expected to find such an AWESOME and reasonably simple project. I have purchased your super awesome bundle and look forward to creating some really nifty items for my daughter and her friends. Thanks!
Yep, the thin craft foam I used is 1.5mm thick, and the thicker foam I used for the main helmet is around 8mm thick. It's O.K. if what you have isn't exactly that thickness though.
Hello, I wanna purchase the pattern, but I have a question. Do you think it would be possible to make the helmet with a thin foam, not a thick one like the one you used?
Just bought this pattern! The final shape is similar to an old Russian flight suit helmet, and I think this will help me speed up the process of making one of those. Awesome Stuff!
I really love the chaotic energy of this video! Thanks for sharing this, I don't know if I'll actually make this particular helmet for my Among Us Costume (I'll be sure to check out your among us helmet video too!), but it was super entertaining to watch!
Patrick Kelley Hmmm, I don't think you would be able to get a satisfactory result just by scaling the pattern up, Usually when patterns need to get bigger, not every measurement changes proportionally. As you can see on my vid, it can still fit over an adult head, but the main thing that looks funny is that it doesn't come down far enough on the shoulders.
They look great! I purchased the pattern. Piece 11 (the final seam covering) seems to be missing on the adult pattern, and the longer seam cover on the adult pattern isn't long enough to tuck under front of helmet. Hope this helps. I only had the thin foam sheets and it works great! I used white and black foam and I may not have to paint them.
T Goodall Thanks very much for the feedback on my pattern, I see there are a few extra instructions I need to add to the pattern. You can use piece 11 from the childs pattern- I guess I forgot to mention that in the instructions:) The reason that the longer seam doesn't tuck under, is that it already is the full length of an a4 sheet of foam, but I should mention that if you have a larger sheet of foam, you can give it a bit extra length to tuck under.
Monis Khan Hmm, not good, Can you tell me which link isn't working? Can you get to the Gumroad page where it is for sale? If so, which payment option did you try? I am just trying to figure out where it is going wrong, as this happened to someone else as well. They shut down their browser and tried again and it worked the second time. If you can't get it to work, let me know and we will make it work somehow! O.K., I am off to bed, so if I don't respond for 8 hours, you'll know why:)
First off, check your spam/junk folders in your email, sometimes it gets caught by them. If not, can you contact me through my website here and I can resend the download link to you. Here's the link to my contact page www.lostwaxoz.com/about1/
My daughter is 11 and have just purchased the space helmet pattern. Just wondering would I use the child or adult. Is there an approx size for opening?
Hi there! I would say for a girl around that age, you could go either way. My niece made one of the child size when she was ten and it fit her quite well, but she certainly doesn't have a large head:) The opening of the Child size is about 25 inches circumference, but that opening needs to be larger than the head size to look right. Hopefully that helps a little!
Beautiful! You are just so creative and funny. I pet with some wire, copper paint and mason jar lids, you could mod the pattern into a super-sweet antique scuba helmet too! :)
can't pay for the pattern, in my country it won't let me, but I will try to do it with what you see in the video, thanks! It will be my halloween costume 😊
Hello, how long should we wait after paying for the pattern... as it hasn't come through yet..., were hoping to get these started quickly for a special event!! :)
Hi there, the pattern should come almost instantly. If it doesn't, be sure to check your spam/junk folders, and if it's not there, please email me and include the email address you used when you bought it, and I can find the transaction and get it to you. You can email lostwaxozcontact@gmail.com
Does contact cement work on all materials? I have some vinyl chair covering type fabric that I think would work with this pattern, I could try sewing but I would have to make up all the seam allowances.
Contact cement works on lots of materials, but not all. I am not sure I know what kind of fabric you are referring to, it would have to be kinda stiff to hold it's shape properly.
Hmm.... I am not totally sure... could you add thicker foam inserts to help fill some of the space. I got it to fit well on my four year old with the right amount of foam. Or cut on either side of the centre line and remove a foam strip from there to bring the two sides together? Last option but probably not what you are looking for would be to scale the pattern down when you print it.
@@LostWax ahhh ok I will try cutting before I have to cut out new pieces but I think scaling it down a bit just might work! Will let ya know. Thanks for your reply!
Ahhh, yes, I think your computer is auto filling all the boxes at checkout. The last box is the discount code box, so it looks like you have entered an incorrect code. If that’s not it, let me know!
Just perfect! I'll be needing this for my son's profession costume at school. I'll be purchasing the pattern.. how soon can I get an email of the pdf file? Kind of need to make it today.. hehe

Also it is best if you can get foam that is 6-8mm thick. I have links to some of the supplies I recommend here. www.lostwaxoz.com/product-links/
does the pattern fit all? I need to make helmets for three grown people and i wanted to make sure the helmet pattern is for adults. Hopefully someone responds to this 😅
There are two sizes included in the pattern. One kids and one adults, the adults should fit most sizes, though I don't think I have actually tested on a very large head..... but there's lots of extra space around the head so it should work.
You need to make sure you set your printer up to print size or it will shrink it slightly. That's due to the fact that I make the patterns so they work on either A4 or 8.5 x 11 paper. WOuld be much easier if there was a worldwide standard:)
Hmm, maybe try with a different browser, also if it is saying something about a coupon code being invalid, it's probably due to your computer autofilling the coupon code box with your address. If that doesn't help, let me know, I can always send you a paypal invoice.
Hi Bill, My first question would be to make sure you printed it 100% scale, but it looks like you did- you can always check by measuring the print guides to verify. To be honest, rather than altering the already made one, it might be best to remake it- if you can scale it up, say 105%. If you aren't able to do the scaling, email me at lostwaxozcontact@gmail.com and I can probably scale it and send it to you.
If i remember correctly I used normal houseplant. It works O.K, but it is a bit brittle, so it can crack a bit if the foam is flexed. I now use artists acrylics on all my projects- they are just that bit more flexible. This project looks best with a glossy finish- I have used mod podge (the glossy one) with good results. Just be aware Mod Podge isn't waterproof.
Hard to estimate the cost of making this, as it depends what supplies you have already. The actual material cost is quite minimal, as it takes part of a foam mat, some glue and some paint.
If you are looking for an Among Us Costume, I just launched a brand new video and pattern, you can see it here: bit.ly/amongusvid

Thanks space dad. This was both entertaining and informative.
If you want a visor as well one thing I noticed was that you could cut apart a large plastic soda bottle to the right size and glue it on the inside.
Good point!
I love that you were so mad at your kids, you made them fight each other to avoid child abuse
Just rewatched this video. Oh my gosh we had the cutest kids! And you are so funny.
I know hey! And now they are basically adults. Crazy how time goes by…
I used this pattern for my son’s Halloween costume and he loves it! Thank you for bringing a little sparkle to 2020’s quarantine life. :)

Amazing video! Can I just ask, can you add a visor to the front and make it move? If so, do know what to use and how to do it?
I'm sure you could with flexi glass and hard plastic
Really nice! I love it how you create something fantastic that isnt really expensive! But personaly i am more into your Steam Punk accessories!

Hello I love your helemt design, do you think it is possible to upgrade it with a visor, maybe transparent, plexi?
Agreed
This is amazing!!! What are you cosplayer using as a good, see through visor???
On another tutorial, I saw someone use a 1 liter soda bottle and cut it to fit their hole. However, their hole was a lot smaller. Hope this helps!

Instead of destroying a chair cushion you could use uphulstury foam from the craft store or foam scraps.

Thank you for the great tutorial! I have a small question though; Could you use EVA foam for this project? (the floormat puzzle pieces, specifically)

How much foam will we need for the adult size? Was going to buy 10 sheets of A5 foam just in case.
+SHKAA887 Hmm, it's gonna be pretty tricky with A5- isn't that half the size of a sheet of A4? You would need tons of them. I use a camping mat, and I probably use about half of it from memory. Also it is best if you can get foam that is 6-8mm thick. I have links to some of the supplies I recommend here. www.lostwaxoz.com/product-links/

I can so far find only 5 mm or 10mm yoga mats... Should I try with 10mm?
Ararechan74 Yeah, I reckon, go with the 10mm. It isn't going to make that much difference with this pattern.
Me encantaaaaaa. Me subscribo!
Does this print to scale on a standard 8.5x11 printer paper?
You need to make sure you set your printer up to print size or it will shrink it slightly. That's due to the fact that I make the patterns so they work on either A4 or 8.5 x 11 paper. WOuld be much easier if there was a worldwide standard:)
Can't seem to pay with paypal...problem?? Do u bundle products needed for adult helmet?
Hmm, maybe try with a different browser, also if it is saying something about a coupon code being invalid, it's probably due to your computer autofilling the coupon code box with your address. If that doesn't help, let me know, I can always send you a paypal invoice.
How thick is the foam you used?
Howdy. I bought your adult pattern, printed it out (actual size) its still small for me I'm 6'4. Any suggestions on how to alter it?
Hi Bill, My first question would be to make sure you printed it 100% scale, but it looks like you did- you can always check by measuring the print guides to verify.
