After the Geth-Quarian conflict is resolved on Rannoch, Shepard will receive an invite from the Asari Councilor to investigate a secret artifact on Thessia. This mission sees us dropping onto the Asari homeworld, which is presently being overrun by a massive Reaper invasion.
Liara is a mandatory companion for this mission but you can bring anyone you like as a second squadmate. I highly recommend bringing Javik for the incredible amount of unique dialogue he contributes to this mission. Also because it provides better context for the blowout fight that Liara and Javik get into after the mission is over. - Ігри
Gotta give Javik the opportunity to be a trollthean.
That so bad it was great 😂😂😂
That....sounds about right Javik seems to suffer from a superiority complex.
@@LongShen1883 i mean, he does have seniority over everyone

In my cycle, DLC was included, and crucial information about the game's protagonists was made available to all players.
Wish I were there.
I read that in Javik's voice 👍👍
Don't you mean in your cycle complete games were made ?
Javik wasn't DLC in original ME3 script. Eden Prime was a story mission gone wrong that ended up with Udina taking away your Spectre status. Those interactions might be leftover from original development just like Legion's interacitons from ME2. My guess.
In my cycle, DLCs aren’t even a thing. We have ‘expansion packs’, and they actually add new contents to the game instead of things that should’ve been included in the base game in the first place.

I also like Javik's comments on various artifacts in the temple like basically confirming asari goddess was basically a prothean and shattering Liara's outlook on asari history
Liara got green pilled hard lol

Well you're making a scene.
Whisper that. Softly. In my ear.
I could live like a queen. No, I would need a king.
"We'll bang, ok?"
im sheperd! im right, always am. damn everyone else!
As soon as I heard that... yup, glad I wasn't the only one.
Javik is the brutally honest man in the group. He's there to remind you no matter what you can't let things stop you when you face extinction.
I'd imagine being born during your species extinction can be like that sometimes.
Absolutely. The epitome of "facts don't care about your feelings"
Javik is brutal but honest is a bit of a stretch.
@@simonausmus It's not like Javik ever lies to Shepard or anyone in the party. And if he does lie it's because he asked them which answer they would like to hear and then gives it to them.
He says things like they are and doesn't care one bit about if it insults people or not.
Exactly, that's what makes javik one of my favorite characters in the franchise, to make a quick comparison, peebe from mass effect andromeda, both characters have a tough personality towards their other companions, but unlike javik , peebe is just unbearable, she is sarcastic to the point of being annoying and her whole reason for being like that is basically "I got bored of the milky way so I came to andromeda to seek adventures”, while javik is genuine, does not get carried away by insignificant crap, look at the things as they are and above all, he has a REAL REASON for being like that.
I find it funny how Liara is surprised that some of her people would hide their technology. If a human had done that, I would've thought "Yep, seems par for the course"
It is especially hard to believe since she is the shadow broker and knows of basically all top level secrets of the world's governments at this point.
She is salty about her mother knowing the existence of the prothean beacon and not telling her despite her knowing she is a prothean expert.
And they call Ashley racist…
@@just-some-menace6138 pretty sure this beacon is not even on record any more, it clearly isn't being used since its hidden inside a statue that you need to destroy to use it. There probably was notbing for Liara to find, even if she thought to look.
@@killskill9391 because she is
The fact Javik was day 1 DLC for Mass Effect 3 is criminal considering how much great dialogue he has.
Which is why I bought the game but pirated the DLC.
I fucking hated the fact that they locked an important lore character behind a paywall. DLC's are supposed to be fun little add ons like Bring Down the Sky or Citadel, you're not missing much lore just the action. But the fact that Javik had so much dialogue, was so important to the lore and story, that's fucking dog.
Which is why it's a good thing this came out with every DLC (apart from Pinnacle Station) included.
He ultimately changes nothing for the ending... That's even more criminal. This segment is kinda pointless
@@Zakjuh I could care less if they included the DLCs from 1, even BDTS. I couldn't get enough of ME1 when I first played it, but nowadays ME1 is such a fucking chore. I love the dialogue and story, but the gameplay is just so bad and not just the clunky combat. The "planet exploration" which is laughable to call it that. Every planet is basically the same planet with a different color and skybox and all made up completely of the rocky mountains. Every base you assault is one of the same 3 designs. The enemies practically all look the same. The vast majority of the side content in 1 feels like pure time filler.
Javik had some great moments on the Tuchanka mission too. When you're being shot at by the Reaper, he gets really hyped. After dodging a blast he yells "I remember this part!" 😂
Shepard should have said : What, this is brand new !
My absolute FAVORITE jab -
Liara: Incredible! The beacon seems to think you're Prothean, Shepard! It must be the Cipher you got back on Feros years ago!
Javik: Or it could be the Prothean standing right next to you.
It’s a funny line, but if there’s one reason to not bring Javik on Thessia it’s to avoid how stupid Liara sounds in that moment. She’s naive at times, but it’s so silly and oblivious it’s stupid.
@@delightfullypiquant765 Yea, they could changed this line or add one more like "right I was thinking just about shep"
Best fucking line
@@rabertoification We know that "shepards prothean mind" is enough to activate it, but like Javik said it could sens and do it because it sensed him a prothean. Or even ( and I always saw it that way) that only someone who saw vision from beacon like that from Eden prime can activate it (no matter if has or not the cipher)
I'm thinking that this dialogue happened that way out of laziness from the devs of the game.

Also, before activating Vigil, be sure to check out all the artefacts in the Temple with Javik. He'll give extra context to Liara about the true origin of the asari that kind of blows Liara's mind.
It's funny how she tries to deny it even though the statues look exactly like javik
@@Matt101Vgettio worst part is shes an archeologist and blindly defending a cause.
@@Matt101Vgettio Tbf she's struggling to accept it because doing so destroys her entire religion and alot of her peoples history deep down she probably knows its true.....imagine if some revelation was revealed that God and Jesus were actually aliens and how ppl would react to it
Love their little interactions as you browse the artifacts
Liara: "This is Athame's shield. It is said she used it to protect us when the heaven grew angry. Probably my ancestors misinterpreting a meteor shower."
Javik: "It was a meteror strike we deflected it,"
Liara: "This is a statue depicting one of Athame's servents who brought knowledge and wisdom to my people,"
Javik: " And you don't see the resemblance, that is no servant of an imaginary goddess. He is a prothean."
Just wanna add something more re: the Temple of Athame...
Upon arriving at the temple, Shepard can first have dialogue with Liara and Javik as to the items strewn around before approaching Athame, basically debunking everything Liara once believed in her culture, as basically the Protheans protecting AND uplifting the Asari. Upon approaching Athame, instead of commenting as to why she speaks Prothean, Javik will instead goad Liara as to continuing to be blinded by her beliefs. To me, this sequence of dialogues makes more sense as to Liara's gradual breakdown (seeing Thessia fall, and realizing that everything she thought of the Protheans AND their interaction with the Asari were wrong to begin with.)
Another reason why Javik should have been in the base Mass Effect 3
yes pls
At least they rectified it in the legendary edition.
It was cut out. Day 1 DLC....
When I brought Garrus and inspected all the statues and stuff in the temple he kept prodding Liara that "they kinda look Prothean to me" so when I found her arguing with Javik I still thought it made sense within the context that she would have gone to confront him. That being said there is no doubt that having Javik makes this mission 10x more interesting this is why I absolutely love your channel I get to see so many interactions I would otherwise miss out on because I am so set in my ways when it comes to party members xD Appreciate the fantastic content man keep it up!
James Vega does the same thing to her if you bring him instead of Garrus.
Javik said F*** Dem kids💀💀💀
Javik and Liara are what make ME3 so incredible. I can't believe they didn't have Javik's content (and the leviathans) as part of the regular game. The context is crucial to the story.
Simple: you want more context, you gotta pay up. ~says EA
Javik's content was so intertwined through so much of ME3, that it was strange it was considered dlc.
I think I did a playthrough where I brought him on every mission to see how he intereacted with everyone.
There was some fun stuff with him and Wrex when you take him to the salarian base too.
I agree. With the Legendary Edition this ceases to be a problem, but it's astounding that this wasn't part of the base game when the original ME3 was released. I'd even argue the same for the Leviathan DLC where you learn about the origins of the Reapers.
This is exactly why he was DLC. EA knew what they were doing.
“Shepard, sometimes i don’t know if your running a warship or a a traveling freakshow”
Javik seemed to love both of Sheps Krogan friends
Blame ea. Bad business practices.
Liara’s model looks super cool in ME3
@Seymour Glass I see what you mean. While I still find her ok-looking (in terms of graphics), the scales on her tendrils do seem more distinct and obvious in 3 compared to 1 and 2.
If you click on the artifacts around the sides first, before going to the statute, there will be background on how the Proteans taught the Assari math, agriculture, etc.
I remember reading a Mass Effect wiki about which missions to do in order and who to bring, Javik really is a must need for this mission and I’m glad I read it

In my own defense i didn't have the DLC when i finished the game a couple of weeks ago lol
I use Soldier as my shep, and u have to take Liara so I wanted bring someone with more tech skills, but I did it with almost everything max out and I love lore of ME so I bring Javik here and that was one of my best decision in ME
I mean can you blame me? my maxed out garrus can obliterate the brutes, banshees and three harvesters on that level in a solid minute (on insanity even). kinda worth the trade
Murilo Passareli really? I just use the N7 Typhoon with high velocity barrel and the magazine upgrades. Then you're squad mates become nothing but cannon fodder at that point. Armored opponent? Melts through them. Shields and barriers? Gone in an instant. That gun is so broken lol. Especially if you run the full hahne-kedar gear or a mix between the hahne-kedar and armax arsenal gear like I usually run for weapon focused characters.
Making focused builds wasn't really a thing I got into in mass effect until recently and they're fun imo.
@@sirshotty7689 yeah i meant garrus WITH the Typhoon
whats better than one broken gun? two of them, plus the aimbot that your squadmates have
Always brought him there. Not sure why I even picked him for that mission the first time, but after I just made sense to me
I personally brought Javik EVERYWHERE
@@OminousSoul me too simply for his opinion on things
Same. As a matter a fact, once I thawed him out, he stayed on the team. HES A FREAKING PROTHEAN! The last one, his Intel should be vital for this type of war.
Javik is a cynic. I bring him to most missions just because of his negativity lmao.
[Speaking of Prothean children] "They assumed we would hesitate to kill them 😡" 😂😂😂 Javik is a savage I love him
Edit: Prothee the Prothean 😂
Javik using his abilities to remind Asari Kurin of her warrior lineage and spurring her to keep fighting.. For that scene, i will always choose Javik for Priority Thessia..
Javik was such a crucial and amazing character to have in Mass Effect. As soon as I unlocked him I took him on every mission just to fill in the holes in the Lore.
I definitely didn’t hesitate to bring him. His dialog in that mission is incredible
First play through of ME3 i brought him along so he can make some snarky ass comment about how the Asari finally didn’t have the mental capacity of 2 rocks
I just drag him along for his powers lol
The dialogue is a nice bonus tho
The legendary edition gameplay looks so smooth
Legendary edition got me into the series and gotta say so far it’s fuckin great
Please do more of these (best squad mates to take to X mission!)
I think the line about some Protheans wanting to control the reapers further shows that the control option is a lie. Destroying the reapers is the only thing that works.
The fact that Javik was a day 1 dlc was criminal. After Thessia Liara does not have a custom scene/breakdown she just sits in her office with a generic chearfull line "Ready for the next mission?"
I love how many small things change in these games depending on how you go about completing quests and missions, small changes like this make a HUGE difference in replay value
By the Goddess, literally.
I read your comment as that part of the video was playing...
Damn, i was so shockingly surprised to know learn that Asari culture was completely based on Prothean technology. I mean i knew it because of that beacon, but to hear the truth from Javik; it was totally something else, especially for Liara.
Honestly Javik is in my top 3 companions throughout the whole trilogy; and seeing as this mission is so Prothean-centric; I’ll always let him tag along! 😅
I know you mentioned in your video that nothing of note occurs during the shuttle ride; I’ve always loved it when Javik turns his back to Liara and chimes in with something along the lines of “sometimes in war...you don’t get to choose” with an almost sympathetic/ sad look in his eyes that shows he still feels a tremendous amount of pain from all that he’s lost; and perhaps his brash/trollthean persona is simply a facade to not show weakness. 😅
Unless of course you're playing on Insanity... in that case, take the Turian God.

I played this mission yesterday and brought Javik for the first time ever. Holy sh*t it adds so much more to the story. Can't believe I never brought him before. I knew you would have a video on this 👍🏿
Interesting video! Definitely going to do this, when I played the original ME3 several years ago I never actually downloaded Javik, glad I can try all this now!
Javik and Liara were my go-to squad for almost the entire game.
Liara: Wait, it's all Prothean?
Javik, behind her: Always has been.
Played Priority: Thessia yesterday and I always bring Javik along, because of his snark. Had a blast with the ending with kai Leng, the game had to force the cut scene bc I kept killing Leng haha
Yeah, I hate all his plot armor, he's super easy to kill.
@@droe2570 yeah, it was so easy and I kept laughing so hard through the whole thing
so you know in the final battle he regens about 3 times and summons Cerberus goons? You actually have to slow down and not do too much damage because if you kill him before he has a chance to go through the motions of getting to the back of the room and calling the goons down, and then when he dies, he just drops to the floor and the cutscene doesn't play
Shotgun pistol made things easy.
Whoever designed Kai Leng as a gameplay boss deserved to be fired. He's supposed to be as tough as Shepard, but he's weaker than a Phantom.
I haven’t yet played the legendary edition, and I haven’t played Mass Effect 3 since 2013 but one thing still rings in my head: “Stand in the ashes of a million dead souls and ask if honor really matters - the silence is your answer”. Yep, Javik you are alright dude
A fantastic line
Imagine how hype it would’ve been if they allowed your companions to appear earlier in the trilogy.

The greatest Irony. The Citadel...the source of the cycle and the end of it. Alpha and Omega.
I also liked Javik explaining what the statues really were. It makes the searching part less boring.
He really should have been in the full game on the originals release, it's not a problem now with Legendary edition but he isn't like Zaeed or Kasumi who while great, they don't add that much to the overall story, having Javik is just a must.
I liked having Javik along when I played eight years ago because I was admittedly rolling my eyes to the melodrama Liara was dealing with that mission. Like, I get that her home planet is being devastated but it’s not the only place being devastated. It kinda irked me with how self serving the subplot was and showed just how the Asari really didn’t pay attention to the whole situation until it but them in the ass.
The Asari typically live for 1000 years. Their societal challenges have rarely if ever required quick thinking. 50 years feels like a couple months to them. The Reaper invasion took less than 10 years, which to an Asari was like a couple of weeks.
Right? She's losing it over thessia being attacked for 1 day while earth has been going through it for weeks (months?) and other planets have been completely lost
I did feel that Liara was acting out of character there. She toughened up by being the Shadow Broker and dealing with horrible things.. And when she sees her planet she kinds of loses it for no reason.. ? I mean, sure there was a reason but she acted and spoke as if no one else in the squad understood. That was really off-putting.
Nice Jaws quote 😂
@@onlyforouran8D especially since, by that point, the Turian homeworld had already fallen, the Krogan homeworld almost fell and Earth was on it's way to falling. It really is out of character for her to react like that.
i will be sure to come back to this video once im here on my ME3 play through. almost there. your awesome big dan!
It's funny you should post this. I just finished the stuff with the quarians and geth. And was just about to do this mission
Javik is right you know. As long as there is one Asari left, that one can repopulate the entire species. With basically anyone else they would die out but not the Asari, no matter who they are with or where they are, whatever child they have will always be an Asari. That is just not fair.
How do you not have more people subscribed. I’ve been binging your videos and the trilogy ever since it came out thank you for the hard work and great vids!
No matter what, I always bring Javik with me. His character, writing and voice acting is top notch.
I'm so glad you exist, Big Dan!
With the overhaul to the Weapons in ME1 LE would be nice to see your favourites in each catagory (Assault Rifle, Pistol, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun)
I hope he does a segment reminding players to pick up the M-99 Saber on Horizon. That assault rifle packs a frickin punch!
Assault Rifle for best DPS, Shotgun with explosive rounds to wreak Thorian Creepers and Husks and Sniper for 1 shotting most enemies or dealing with ranged enemies
I usually take ascended Garrus everywhere I go for Insanity. Otherwise on any other difficulty, I take Javik everywhere
Oh yes, Big Dan, this was great stuff. I love the unique dialog, indeed. This was such great writing back then.
Thanks for the great content man
I preordered ME3 at release and had the DLC, but it was almost criminal that not every player got to have Javik on their team.

I had my first crash driving Mako on overpass and before that my squad mates weren’t following me to much 😠 but once I re loaded in all fixed.
Liara being savaged to everyone else
Javik: let me knock her down a peg
My squad preferences for Thessia :
1/ Javik/Liara for the opening cutscene and epic verbal showdown.
2/ Liara/Garrus, to put the long-awaited calibrations to good use and obliterate everything along the way.
Love videos like this, now I can see dialogue I will never see because Garrus takes up a permanent slot on my squad.
The crucible is honestly the biggest plot hole of the story. It’s a weapon that’s meant to use the Citadel as a battery. But it’s always the first thing to taken over. And the prothians(sorry for the spelling) didn’t know about the scientist on ilos who shut down the citadel as a mass relay for the reapers. Unless I missed something it doesn’t make sense. Still I love the series flaws and all. Will play it again no question.
The prothean probably wanted to recover the citadel after the crusiboe was completed, the same way Shepard wanted to recover the citadel to use it after the reapers captured it
The Crucible is designed to turn the Reapers' greatest weapons against them. It is not a plot hole just because you can't get the costless victory you wanted.
Ill NEVER forgive EA for locking Javik behind a DLC
Fuck EA for that bullshit. They are the reason for the “multiplayer must”

Javik was a dick (or as Liara pointed out, a bit too 'grim'), but at least he was honest. Liara is still one of my favorite characters though...
This was awesome! Thank you.
I feel not having Samara help out or fight with us was a missed opportunity, would have loved to see her OP biotic powers vs Reapers.
Or have her dialog in the temple. Wonder what her code would say about asari hoarding prothean tech for selfish reasons
Sweet! So doing that next time!
I've been using Javik early and often, his prothean insight, and the comedy gold that goes with, who is this Javik guy, are we being punked? Ah the stuff they can do with gene alteration, you'll see what I mean.
How did this never occurred to me before???
Good thing I'm only a couple of missions away from reaching Thessia at the moment.
Javik and Liara made for the PERFECT Biotic squad with my Vanguard Shepard. So many explosions...
Javik and kaidan were the perfect biotic bros for my adept shepard
Dan you forgot to show us the things that Javik says about all the Asari relics. their argument makes even more sense if you go through all the relics.
Always bring him on this mission, first time playing this I brought him! So good!
You missed one, I believe. At the statue of the Prophet, Liara comments something about it and he mentions that the statue is obviously his exact likeness -- another prothean.
I am so glad that all those years ago I brought him with me without knowing the context / spoilers. Best experience ever.
For a DLC character, I must he is so deep into the lore that he looks like the main secondary character of the game. I usually ran a full on Biotic team with Javic and Liara.
When Liara confronted the asari Lieutenant about the extinction of the asari race, that gave me goosebumps
I would always bring Javik on this mission.
Now... if you want a real hoot, bring James along instead.
Omg.. James has a thing for the Asari, doesn't he? XD I can see how that could go.
For my Femshep/Vega fanfiction I've been bringing James on every mission; ice never brought him to Thessia. Now I'm torn between Javik and following my 'plan' 🤔
I did this by lucky, I was bringing Liara as my squadmate, and alternating between others squad mates and by lucky I choose Javik in the Thessia storyline.
"Or it might be the Prothean standing next to you." Owned! >:)
Liara and Javik make a fascinating duo in ME3 and the Thessia mission makes the best of it. Especially with the blowup they have afterward.
I figured this out on my own. Now on all my playthroughs, I always bring Javik to Thessia. He adds so much!
Literally just did this lol. And yes I think you should bring javik because you get good info and dialogue if you do.
You have no idea how much info I was missing back then simply because I didn’t have the luxury of internet and DLC
Fun fact, Lieutenant Kieran is played by Laura Bailey, I bring it up because people hated her in Last of Us Part 2 as Abby and to prove to them that she has been in video games for a long time.
I always wondered when the VI mentioned a “ remnants group of people who wanted to control the reapers” I wonder if that was older Cerberus ? But I might be wrong I don’t think he said that for nothing
Liara - "Debe pensar que tu eres un proteano, Shepard"
Javic - "O podría ser el proteano justo al lado tuyo"
jajajajaja
If Jean-luc Picard had been in the temple when Javik revealed all that info about the Asari's true history, he'd probably have had a damn stroke hearing how much the Protheans meddled in their development lmao
I did this on accident today and I was amazed!
There’s soooo much of this game I don’t remember. Can’t wait to finish ME2. Stupid work getting in the way.
I am honestly confused how that quest works without him. I have only ever beought Javik on that quest, and he seems so vital.
