      +KennethKramm Thanks ken. You know I watched your water distillation video the otherI would really like to go camping with you on Padre Island sometime...I'd like to use my geo dome. And tested against the wind conditions ... maybe we can plan something for next year. Always good to hear from you Ken . I'm sure I'll talk to you later.

    I love the woods in the fall. I don't bushcraft much anymore but do make lunch and coffee after hunting in the morning. Walking the woods calms me and energizes me. Nothing like nature and solitude to let you know how great life can be.

    • @Bob808Knight
      @Bob808Knight  3 роки тому

      Hi James. I too love fall, winter and early spring. Summer not so much.. I couldn't agree with you more about getting re-energized. Unfortunately I haven't logged in much dirt time this year. Due to the situation at hand. Hopefully next year will be better. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and I shall talk to you later...

    This takes me back to my youth when my friends and I would go into the woods and make shelters with only using branches and trees. We would swim in the creek all day and camp at night in our homemade tree homes lol.

      @Bob808Knight  9 років тому

      TomCat Xsl I'm glad you enjoyed the video brother. You know you can still sneak out into the woods and have a good time. You don't even have to do an overnight. Lot of times I'll just go out today and walk around...you know that's one thing I haven't built in a long time is a tree house. I do believe you've given me an idea for a video..have a Merry Christmas my friend and a Happy New Year.

    • @tomcatxsl6742
      @tomcatxsl6742 9 років тому

      Bob808Knight Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too bro :) I have actually made a three wheeled bicycle that has a PVC pipe frame on the back so it can be a bicycle-camper type of vehicle, it's classed as a bicycle so there is no license needed for it. I'll have to get a camera very soon so I can start making a video of it to show, it's still a work in progress but you can step up inside of it and it has a bed with the bed frame being 3/4 PVC pipe. Talk to ya again soon, and take care ^^

    the interesting thing is that some of your gear could be replaced with cheaper gear for suburban camping or just for homeless people, the tarp's cheap, the tarp clips are easily replaced with a rock and the paracord looped over the rock in the tarp and stretched, making a anchor point, the pot could be a fleamarket pot or from a dollar store, ect. very well made video, thanks.

    I love Dakota fire holes. it's on the list of one of the videos to shoot this summer. the thing about the Dakota fire holes is they are very efficient. it doesn't take much firewood to cook with. the only drawback there is trying to dig one in wet ground. trust me its a pain in the ass.

    they are tarp tie downs. ( that's what I think they're called).you can find them at Walmart in the sporting section they usually about $5 for a pack of 4. You can get the tent stakes there 2.I did a video on how I built the tarp shelter and it's really easy to make.thanks for the comment my friend.

    Bob , I liked this video very much . Have an idea for you to consider. Change the fuel in your alcohol stove . Use Ever Clear it's a 190 proof grain alcohol . # 1 it burns very well., # 2 if you get hurt cuts , scrapes it can be used as a disenfectant also cleaning your cooking utensils , just something to consider

    • @Bob808Knight
      @Bob808Knight  8 років тому +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video William. Actually friend of mine make some Homebrew.. the first couple ounces is poison it's above 190 proof. He gives that to me to use as fuel for my stove.. And I can tell you it works great. So yes you can say I've used grain alcohol. :-) thank you so much for your comment I do appreciate it.

    Well as all tarp shelters you have that problem, altho most people use sleeping bags in the summer, so only thing exposed is your head. You can buy a bugnet that is placed over a hat to keep it off your face, but protects your head and face from bugs. So this may be a cheap option for ya and thus making your set up perfect as is lol.

    Bob add a clear plastic sheet (held on with velcro) to the front of your shelter to hold in heat just make sure air can get in or you may suffocate also the mylar emergency blanket can be held in place with velcro. that way you can use the 5mill tarp (blue or cammo) from harbor freight and if its not cold enough for the mylar your can still use your tarp

      Hi Bad Hat It has bid a while since I've seen you in a comment section.. I hope you're doing well.. Excellent I idea this is something I will try this early Spring.. It's a little too cold to try it now we been in the single digits for 11 days.. Thanks for the tip and I hope you had a happy New Year..

    • @badhat3051
      @badhat3051 6 років тому

      yeah been a bit. but putting that clear plastic sheet on the front of that Louisville gar style shelter turns it into a sorta Mors Kochanski type Super Shelter and with a modest fire out in front will keep you toasty warm at night in that single digit winter weather. and by putting a window shear from walmart on it will make a nice mo-sketter net. Happy new year my friend and if you have the chance tell Ken Kramm I said happy new year too and that I sure miss his vedios

    Cool vid --- although sleeping on the ground under a tarp is not going to protect you from hungry grizzles. Better to climb 40 feet into a tree and construct a sleeping platform. That's what I do and havent been eaten by a grizzly yet.

    An oldie but a goodie from my friend, Bob808Knight!!! My only question is how you kept that nap from going rogue? After a meal like that, and such a good setup, I could easily see that nap going ... say three to three and a half hours. Great video, Bob!!! Me and mine wish you and yours all things great and good; take care, be safe, all my best and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Buffalo, Texas. 🖖✝️🙏🤠🐩

      Hi Chuck.. I see you're in my archives... fun fact this is the very first video I experimented with camera angles....
      Good question... I have alarm set in my phone for 12 and 6 so I don't oversleep. LOL if you're wondering yes I take naps in the woods all the time. It's the only place I can find peace. LOL
      I'm sure you going to ask eventually... have I ever overslept and woke up when it's been dark out? And the answer is yes... that's why I always carry enough food and water for two days in my pack... thanks for the wishes brother and I like to wish you and yours the same. Talk to you later and have an awesome week..

    Everything taste better on an open flame out in the woods. I love cooking and plan on getting to the woods soon. The weather has been pretty bad here in Tn. I have gotten to old to fight the cold. The end of March should be great. Nov.

      +SammyPresta Hi Sanmy..why wait for it to get warm again. Then you have to deal with the bugs. Personally I enjoy winter camping. The more of a challenge the better experience I always say.....thanks for your comment brother.

    the beef stew is pretty good. I forgot about the chili mac I'll have that the next time I go out. I like my grill set up.. with the steaks I use it's easy to level out. it weighs practically nothing and fits in the bottom of my pack perfectly.

    Found this video linked through Reddit.I wouldn't have attached the shovel (though a good idea to extend the handle)....would've just angled the wood to a flat point and dug with that....then no cordage would be cut.Solid day out though....dirt time is always good!

      +Bob808Knight You'd be surprised where vids pop up. I think it was either on the CampingHiking or Bushcraft subreddit. Funny how a 2.5 year old vid resurfaces. Keep up the dirt time vids. I haven't had a decent camera do to mine, and I love my dirt time too much to fret over getting a new one when there's new tools to buy and play with!

    have you ever come across wackos in the woods or had any stumble upon you l? If so I would enjoy to hear about it. The woods by my house is pretty awsome but occasionally well stumble upon a wacko and it can be a bit frightening at times but 90% the time we see (or hear them) and we get outta dodge real quick
