I have Winsor and Newton Cobalt Turquoise Light. It is PG50 as well and a series 4 color. It was less expensive than the Daniel Smith version when I bought it because Dick Blick had a spring sale on Winsor and Newton watercolors. I LOVE the color. It's so vibrant and beautiful and the granulation is fascinating.
With cobalt you could almost make a complete palette. There's cobalt green, cobalt teal/turquoise, cobalt blue, cobalt violet, cobalt yellow (aureolin), and cobalt black.
I have the QOR Cobalt Teal pg50. The separation in addition to the granulation makes it great for more experimental looks. I really like it with Pyrrole Red among others.
Cobalt teal one of favourite colours .. Iv only got it in QOR I haven't tried DS or schminke version yet but white nights version of cobalt Turquoise is also quite beautiful
Since I can't paint at the moment due to participating in Inktober, I really miss my watercolors, so watching you mix paints is really satisfying for me. Thank you for the beautiful color comparison, I'd love to see more like this >U
I use PG50 Cobalt Teal Blue. It's not on my field palette, but I do use it at home on my 24 color palette. I also love it for the granulation and it's actually rather close to primary cyan. It's not a great primary mixer though, in my opinion. I mix it with Phthalo Blue for interesting skies and I also use it for shadows in ice or on snow. It works really well for that.
agree, DS Cobalt Teal Blue is a great color as it keeps it's own identity in mixes, so great for landscape and cityscapes, but not a primary mixer that will make lots of colors, not necessarily a beginner blue. There are versions of Cobalt Teal/Turquoise that have softer granulation. I've actually been playing with Phthalo Turquoise as my primary blue for my summer palette, which brightens my palette.
cobalt turquoise is a very nice colors, I'm planning to switch to it from manganese blue hue once I used up all my manganese blue hue... however I'm using a PB28 version from holbein which is more blue than PG50 version.. if you manage to get your hand on a PB28 version of cobalt turquoise, please do a comparison video much like you did with Ultramarine vs French Ultramarine or Phthalo Blue G.S vs Phthalo Blue R.S.
When cobalt teal and the rest are mixed with several colors especially phaloblue red shade it is like a wonderful dupe for Cerulean with the granulation particles, like Verditer blue, it’s very beautiful.😊
Teoh, this is helpful. I appreciate your helping us see how certain pigments granulate more than others. My painting is not yet at a level to be able to leverage the differences in granulation, but I find this helpful for the future. 👍🎨🖌🌟
I don't have any turquoise on my palette. I do have Sleeping Beauty Turquoise from Daniel Smith's Primtek series. I love the color. The only cobalt color that I have is Cobalt Blue from Daniel Smith. I have tube green; but, it is Phthalo Green also from Daniel Smith. I'm beginning to think that I have too many paints.
It’s very good and easy to reset. It has a nice tinting strength because of the rewettability. However it doesn’t really ever fully dry due to being made honey. Overall a very beautiful color, and almost identical to the schmincke version. I like it a lot.
@@redkitty0x865 Thank you for your input. I'm wondering if you live in a warm/humid climate and hence the non-drying. Living in Canada, I have not experienced that with the M. Graham paints I have. Or is it unique to this colour, I wonder.
For me personally, I haven’t experienced any running issues as long as I let it set up mostly, but they do still stay sticky for the most part if I touch them. I think it does depend on the color a bit though, but I don’t think the teal is necessarily more sticky. Maybe a bit. I know their anthraquinone blue, or indanthrone in other colors, is a particularly sticky one from past experience, though it would not run if I put it in a palette and it got turned upside down. Unless freshly poured. Also you’re welcome :)
I’ll just add that I’m in Canada too - Nova Scotia, and I ordered paint directly from M Graham a few years ago. It’s beautiful paint but it wouldn’t set here, even after months a sunny window. I eventually stopped using it because I take my palette outside and it kept making such a mess and contaminating other colours. But you may find it’s great where you live.
Why is this turquoise colour is called 'teal' by Americans and American brands like Daniel Smith? Anyone know why the difference in language around this colour?
Daniel Smith also sells a Cobalt Turquoise, PG36, which is darker and more of a blue-green color (oddly closer to teal), so they needed another name for the PG50 brighter color.
The cobalt teal is a horrible mixer. Cobalt turquoise on the other hand is awesome the granulation is much more beautiful. I through out the cobalt teal but love the turquoise. Sometimes the heavy heavy granulation is just a bit much and one doesn't know until it's dry. I had hoped to see more mixes with the cobalt green. Take care.
Now it becomes my daily routine to watch your channel before going to bed.
Very positive and useful channel for artists and everyone. ❤️

Lee's Channel I love cobalt variations 🌈
I love the cobalt colours, too! I didn't know there was a cobalt black!
@@jengoodwyn2715 Yeah, I have it as part of the 34 color Mission Gold Pure Pigment set. There's not a lot of information out there about it.
@@madametj True, and there's Cobalt Zirconium Cerulean, Cobalt Blue Light/Dark, Cobalt Green Deep...
Cobalt magenta as well...

Art spectrum does a pg50 which is very similar to schminke cobalt turquoise. It's a lovely colour.
Thank you! The colour mixes are gorgeous.

They're beautiful! 👍😀 If I had a large paint box I'd put them in pans and use both.
I love cobalt colors 😀
I like the granulation in these colors you can tell the difference in good quality paint seems the higher cotton paper would always work well
I see a face in the Schminke cobalt turquoise swatch. Lol. I love your paint reviews.
What made you choose watercolours as a medium? Have you tried other painting mediums like oil or acrylic?
Watercolour is easy to get into without much setup
Thanks for yet another interesting comparison :)

Never too many paints :)
Those color mixes are beautiful :3
Try DaVinci cobalt green hue. It's beautiful.
Does anyone have experience with M. Graham's cobalt teal? Do you like it?

I meant easy to re-wet before.

Why is this turquoise colour is called 'teal' by Americans and American brands like Daniel Smith? Anyone know why the difference in language around this colour?
The used pretty much interchangeably however the differentiating factor is that turquoise is a rock and a color.
A teal is a duck - with a flash of teal coloured feathers on it's head. Teal the colour as we call it here in the UK that is!
Daniel Smith also sells a Cobalt Turquoise, PG36, which is darker and more of a blue-green color (oddly closer to teal), so they needed another name for the PG50 brighter color.
This has always confused me too (I am american) as I thought teal was supposed to be a dark blue-y green color.

i have a hard time finding good grens in any pigment can name your pet cobalt blue lol
