    I am biased because I was there, but I can for sure agree that these areas were great to spend time in, especially with my son and daughter-in-law!

      Hi Ron n Mary,
      I would be excited too, if was going to be in Mexico soon!
      Thank you for the compliments on the video, we appreciate the feedback.
      Yes, on the fishing guide recommendation; I have been guided by the same man/family every time I go and have been very satisfied. He and is family all guide and fish full time. They only fish out of one spot though (Bahia de Los Suenos) near La Ventana. If you think you will fish out of this area, I can certainly forward his contact to you.
      Hope you have an awesome enjoyable time!
      Thank you for subscribing, cheers!

    Nice, can't wait to visit all these places, is there any safety issue have experience during your 9 month travel? any other challenges ?

    • @PlanFree
      @PlanFree  2 роки тому +1

      In our limited personal experience we haven't seen any specific safety issue that wouldn't also be present on our home country.
      Okay, maybe uneven/broken sidewalks and openly corrupt police.
      Recently some people have been experiencing challenges receiving the "standard" 180 day tourist stay in Mexico as it may not be as "standard " anymore. We have made a video on that you may want to watch and read the comments from people;

      Hi Derrick, hey our pleasure! There is SO much more to talk about there also...too much for one video! But, first, thank YOU for watching and for commenting! We LOVE that.
      We hope you subscribe also!
      We lived in 3 different place in the Baja Sur, in 3 different years.
      1. The 1st was in a rural area called Comitan, NW of La Paz. We rented a circular, thatch roofed local style palapa. We lived there for 6 months that year. (we lost most of our pics of this place!) It was about CAD$500/mo.
      2. The 2nd place we lived, for 2 months to warm up before heading to Costa Rica, in another year, was in Los Barriles, SE of La Paz. We rented an RV! It was about CAD$500/mo.
      3. The 3rd place we lived was in La Ventana, between La Paz and Los Barriles, we rented the condo in the complex with the pool that you see in the video. It was about CAD$1100/mo.
      Mexico is very inexpensive, even eating well and shopping at the local grocery stores.... we'd day about 1/3-1/2 the cost of back home in Canada.
      Does that help?

    Thank for your reply for my previous query, since you have lived in all different location how did you managed to get short term lease? if you don't mind can you elaborate on lease term and rent amount along with best rental location and who to contact for the lease.

      Our pleasure to try to help @Nikhil Mistry!
      Well first of all please keep in mind that when we lived for a total of 9 months in these areas they were on three separate trips Mexico.
      The first time we stayed in Comitan, which is just Northwest of La Paz. We found our rental palapa on Airbnb (it was many years ago now so Airbnb was a little bit more affordable than it is now!)... so we contacted the owner and we negotiated a lower rent because we were able to stay for longer-term: 6 full months.
      Then a few years later we went back with our father and we found a nice little hotel available for one month in La Ventana. So that was easy because we were able to book online and via email directly with the hotel. 😊
      Then the third trip we wanted to stay in Los Barriles area so we went again on Airbnb and found something suitable for us for a 2 month term. We connected with the owner via Airbnb and then email.
      Keep in mind that these days Airbnb is much more expensive then it used to be! BOO!!! So if we had to do all of these trips again we would choose the first two weeks or so booking through the Airbnb site and then once our feet were on the ground in that area we would rent a car or scooter and go see places locally.
      There are so many places that only advertise with a sign on the property or via word-of-mouth, or on Facebook Marketplace. Although this last method is much more time consuming, you can find better deals that way. 😉
      ....we also kind of like it because we meet really neat people and see many different areas on a town/city by going to see properties.
      So, we just verbally negotiate rental amounts and length of stays with the owners/managers when we see the property.
      Does that help at all?
