I am looking to visit one of the islands soon, so your video is very helpful. I also would have liked some info about the food on both islands.
Okay @SomeDutchGuy, well we can try to answer your question about food on both Islands here now. Aruba is significantly smaller island than Curacao so the availability of products, we found, was slightly less on Aruba. For example in Curacao they have huge grocery stores with a large imported section of meats and cheeses from Holland and other areas. You can still find some of those things in Aruba but the selection was just much less. Aruba has less grocery stores, smaller grocery stores but still fine. Curacao is such a larger island, with a larger capital city, that the availability of local type cuisine, street food and restaurants was greater. The area are larger. Aruba though had more higher end, touristy type restaurants, more finer dining style places. Does that help? Thanks so much for watching our video we're really glad you did. Thanks for your comment and question! Ayr & Lori

Thanks for the video, what time of year is best to snorkel?
You need to heat the ends wth hot water or a hair dryer first. And you can add some dish soap as lubricant as some people do with hard to mount bicycle tires.
Those are good tips too. We didn't think of them, so thanks! ...for if we need to do it again down the road. Ours did end up going on ok, so we didn't need it, but I'm sure someone else watching might like to try your ideas. Thank you for sharing!
This is why people just buy new hoses. The connectors that require hose clamps just break and leak again because the material gets weakened. The entire RV industry make low end expensive crap.
We would generally agree with you! Sounds like an opportunity for some smarty pants to start a business and make a better mouse trap (if you've ever heard that phrase) for all of us! Thank you for your comment and for watching! Sounds like you've been in this position also? Ayr & Lori
Thank you for the video and helpful information. We have been to Mexico over 30 times and loved it but was all tourist and inclusive resorts. We are seeking a place to retire now so going to look at some condos houses in CR. Never been there but have some friends who living there now. WIll be there for about a week and have realtor already set up to look. Keeping fingers crossed it is everything hoping for and then more than Mexico but will see. One thing I will say in checking out homes-condos, from looking at places in Cancun that did not have Ocean View was at higher end of our budget ,,.>$400K. We found a couple places to look at in CR that do have Ocean Views and well within our budget $200k-400K. Im told the school education, health system, common perks like internet, tv, phone are all available in CR and not overall expensive either. So going to add to this post when we get back. Thank you. Safe travels!!.
Thank you @BREAD-j6l for watching and we really loved reading your comments. 30 times is a LOT for Mexico ...resorts are cool, for a bit...but we'd recommend smaller.towns in and.amongst the real local people. SUPER inexpensive that way. We are curious as to where in Costa Rica you will spend your time looking for a condos or houses? We look forward to the update after your further research in CR! Ayr & Lori
Welcome to Guatemala guys
Thank you so much! We enjoyed our time there. Hope to return one day 🥰 We also hope you liked our video!
Guys your on the lake where all turist go, plus your are 2 hours away from the markets, so is costly to get stuff there is like importing. If you likebthe area which is lovely and can affort it enjoy, go to eat where locals eat. And support the local indigenious community. I love guatemala and people are very nice and humble. Remember you are in one of the most costly places in Guatemala. Enjoy.
Yes you're right @garcianet1, Lake Atitlan is a touristy area with many travelers ans visitors but we did not find the cost of things high. We thought they were quite low actually, compared to many other countries we've lived in. What are some lower-cost areas you would suggest in Guatemala? Thank you for watching and we appreciate your comments! Ayr & Lori

Have you been here?
Do you get to pick the time for your appt or you just show up on the day of your appt? Can i print an electronic version of a family utility bill?
You have to double check at the office you will be using but when I did the process using the office at Guadalajara I was able to choose the day and time of my preference for my appointment. After my appointment was set I showed up early on the day and time of my appointment. It would be best to get the original mailed copy from the utility company of your bill because we do not know if you're particular sat office will accept a printed copy or not. We were told we would require the original one that the company mails to you/your landlord. Hope that helps! Keep us posted on how it works for you! Ayr & Lpri
Men always confused in equality between men's and women's nudes.. WOMENS LIBERTIES ACT has teached men's brain to understand that mens nudes are equal to women's nudes..without understanding that mens genitals are exposed and women's genitals are hidden..men who accepted WOMEN'S LIBERTIES ACT teaching that nudity between men and women are equally same..are obviously G4Y..and G4Y community was the minority in mens population..so please follow the straight men regulation..thank you..
I have gone to cancun and playa del carmen never felt unsafe time to check out CR
You have visited 2 beautiful beach areas in Mexico, very cleaned up and touristy, so yes, the safety will be fairly good in those areas. Mexico is BIG though and we hope you have many more places to go to explore! CR is beautiful also, just so very different! It's biodiverse, and so varied in topography, climate, etc. And there is the Pacific coast, the Carribean coast, the mountains and the beaches....so very interesting. Just like Mexico! Haha....now we've REALLY confused you!! Safe travels, we look forward to hearing your comparison once you have visited both @DiegoEspinal-q1d!

Hi! A great video. I am thinking of moving to Guatemala in the spring. How safe is it for a solo female (60s) where you live?
Hi @traceybuchner4585, It's Lori here, the lady in the video that you just watched, so I felt that I should answer you based on a female perspective in relation to your question. 😉 So we don't live there anymore we only lived there for a season to see what it was like. But, while we were there and based on our experiences, I personally would have no problem living there alone. I am a female in my late 40s and thinking ahead into my 50s and 60s I would have absolutely no problem living in the small towns around the lake. We were in San Pedro and we felt that the local community would be safe for you to live in. There are expats there too, and you would have to find the ones that you really fit in with and felt a good connection with cuz many can be quite cranky (sorry, the truth hurts!), and then even more so the local people are lovely. We have heard quite good things about the larger place further away from the lake called Xela. You might want to have a look into that small city and the people in that area, it's a larger center and there would be more to see, do and easier to get products. Does that help?
@@PlanFree yes thank you for the feedback
Excellent information! However, a little more information was needed on the prices for small houses and apartments in modern conditions. Which towns are the best and safest to live over there? And are electrical appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, etc. included?
Thank you that's a good idea for a potential future video!
Couple of cucks 😂
Rural areas in Costa Rica are not expensive.
Great tip @here-right-here! What are the areas you suggest, if any?
My thought is, you have solar lights outside. It absorbed all the Sun even you got solar panels on top. Whatever that you're old yard lights, take them inside and now you're using less of your other power to have light because you're just using your yard lights, this is suggestion light work
@@gracebryant6268 we happen to think your suggestion is one of the best and we decided to make a video just about that. Here it is in case you're interested to see all the ways we use our solar lights: ua-cam.com/video/Olo4TM7MPoY/v-deo.htmlsi=4wy4-oULtK4BpwCI In the description of the linked video we have quick links to be able to find and buy the product if you like them too. Great video! I’m in the airport in Cali Colombia waiting to fly. I’d just suggest folks take a camera light that’s rechargeable. They come in really handy when you’re in a place with only overhead light or if power goes out!
Hi @BrightResultsMedia, That's a really interesting and unique tip. Thank you for sharing it. Would you happen to have a link to an example of what you're talking about? We would love to see what you mean. Secondly, it's very interesting that you mention you were in Cali, Colombia... We have been considering flying there to live for 3 months this coming winter. May we ask how long you were in Cali and for what purposes (work/tourism/living)? Thank you so much, Ayr & Lori
Hey guys love your content. I am flying into Guatamala City and planning a trip to Mexico more specifically to San Cristobal de las Casas from Guatamala City. I have 2 pieces of luggage and a backpack. Do the collectivo chicken buses carry luggage. From the looks of it on Youtbue it looks like a regular school bus but I was curious as to where the luggage is carried. Thank you so much..
Hi @robertofarias8997, thank so much! Glad you find our info helpful. It's always a lot of work and so your comment means a lot. We are going to assume you mean the chicken buses collectibles in Mexico, right? If yes, then we know that they "do" carry luggage but sometimes and certain times of the day they are so packed that it does become a little difficult. We personally would try our best not to travel with more than a backpack and one other small bag. If it's a larger piece of luggage I don't think we would use collectivos. Does that help?
@@PlanFree thank you for your response. The question on chicken buses is going from Guatamala City to La Messilla and on to San Cristobal de las casas. If not chicken buses are there regular buses? If so do you know the name of them?
@robertofarias8997 oooouuuuuu you have good questions! We don't think we can accurately answer you on this because of all the times we have lived in Mexico and once living and once visiting Guatemala, none of those time had us taking the route you speak of. So, we really don't know what types of buses run that route. We are definitely aware of the collectivos or buses that run within Guatemala and within Mexico but generally when we travel between two countries we opted for the more comfortable Greyhound-type bus. The big ones with reclining seats. They are more money but far more comfy, and they take luggage. It's worth it for us.
Nice job, thank you.
Thank you so much @teclote! Are you planning to go through this process for yourself sometime soon? Ayr & Lori
@@PlanFree I got mine a few years ago. As you said, it was required for me to get one when I bought a lot. There is also something called "Constancia de Situacion Fiscal" which is like an updated proof of registration, or a good standing certificate,, which I needed when we applied for some permits, specifically to buy a performance bond. It comes from SAT, which everyone refers to as the Hacienda. Has a QR code on it. Took about 20 minutes, no appointment necessary, we just stood in line.
@teclote glad to hear all your experiences were smooth with SAT too, what a blessing. Thank you also for sharing all that here for others. Hopefully someone gets help or encouragement from it all, that's the goal!
What province are you from? Do you still summer in Canada
Hi @kain4645, were from Alberta. You? We sure do! If you click on your profile picture it will bring you to our Maine first page on our Channel and there should be an intro video there that explains how we do it. Do you see it? Ayr & Lori
@@PlanFree same and newly retired trying to figure out the next plan lol
Oh that's wonderful to hear and congratulations! Well we've been semi-retired since we were 35 and 37 traveling abroad for 6 months and then back to Canada for 6 months for the last 13 years looking for the ideal spot I guess you could say. Almost every single video on our channel has us traveling abroad for a length of time to a location and exploring it for possible relocation. So if you are interested in a location just search our channel or look through all our videos to see if there's a location that might interest you and we bring you really good information on them. If you have a question then on that specific location or video please just comment under that video and we'll see it and help where we can. Ayr & Lori
You mentioned needing a original physical copy of a utility bill, i rent and the owner says he does everything online and never gets a physical bill. any ideas of how to work around this?
Great question. Yes many people do all their payments online now. If we were in your shoes we would ask our landlord to call the utility company and ask them to mail one just one time. See if that works? What state are you in?
when tip one is a generator, which requires FUEL, this is pure shite. Solar baby, this is pure shite.
@thinkfloyd2594 Thanks for commenting. We invite you to watch the video again and listen more carefully this time and afterwards reformulate your comment above to contribute something constructive.
I learned that you can reduce your exposure to the need for Ubers and taxis by being located near key point you want to visit
That's a good idea, yeah @petere4540. As much as possible. But inevitably there pops up a bunch of other things a person wants to go and see! Don't you find that? Ayr & Lori
@@PlanFreeI agree there are other things you may want to go see, that's the purpose of hop on hop off buses. You go see a place but stop,go see it and return later, like those greyhound buses
Is there a website you can share for those hop on and off buses? We did not hear of them for some reason...?? Also for safety and security some people may not feel comfortable with a public hop-on hop-off transit option and they might prefer the security of knowing that their Uber is transporting just them. Great options here though for people who are reading through the comments. 👍
@@PlanFree it's greyhound buses in many parts of the world, but in Ecuador and Colombia they don't have greyhound they have other private bus co that do the same thing
Hi folks,I'm in Lisbon looking at how expat life is there. Everything is great but we want to visit Ecuador. I have advice for travelers. Book hotels that have buses straight from the airport. Book hotels near bus tours too
Yes that's a great tip because of a person can walk straight out of the airport during bus hours and catch one bus to their hotel makes life easy and it's very cheap. Thanks for your tips! They are super. Have you seen our cost of living video on Quito, Ecuador? We are wondering how it compares to Lisbon, Portugal? Here is the link for you so that you can find it easier: ua-cam.com/video/7NUcD7U64rM/v-deo.htmlsi=Bq7VLp0AOSH0ubxS Let us know how they compare, Cheers! Ayr & Lori
@@PlanFree I'm planning to visit either Cuenca or Quito next yr,no details yet. Finished Portugal for now, nice place but expensive for expat
Right now I'm about to leave Marques de pombal Lisbon to go back home but probably next year it's off to Berlin and then Ecuador
@petere4540 ok thanks for the info on Lisbon. Quito was....ok but the smaller towns (not touristy towns) were much cheaper. It's a totally different world than in Europe over in Ecuador though! Especially in rural Ecuador. Cheap, and quiet. We would recommend not staying in Cuenca but a smaller little place outside of Cuenca, for a more local traditional experience. 👍 Safe travels!
@@PlanFree can you compare your experience here to say Cartagena co or Bogota or Medellin? Thanks

Well Spoken My Dear - Hope you reply to my queries below John Mc
I'll go check for you queries below now. Thanks! Lori
Hi Laura, My name is John from Australia. I'm a 75 year old Bugger ha! ha! I will list a couple of questions below, please help me if you can, Many Thanks. - 1. I can get on a plane in Australia to depart to Thailand Arrive in Bangkok Airport and go through Customs / Immigration etc. and all I need to present to the Officers is my Current Australian Passport. 2. I have no need to produce documentation to the Officers regarding where I will be staying in my Tourism period. ( Please note been to Bangkok 8 times ) 3. Do not have to show my return Air Fare Ticket. 4. Do I have to pay any Fee to Enter Thailand ( Suvarnabhumi Airport ) 5. Do I need to apply in writing to someone about = Visa Exemption (60 Days)
Hi and thanks for your questions! As we attempt to answer them here please keep in mind that we are not experts and just like any foreign country: the authorities in that area have the final say! We have heard that there are still some differences at different airports and different border crossings. But my understanding is, for your questions, #1. Yes, you just land and show your passport. #2. I have not read anywhere about showing proof of address where you'll be staying. So, we would say no, no proof of address required. #3. Again not 100% sure. Our plan is to make onward travel to Vietnam and I'm not yet ready to book the flights out of Thailand....so we will take our chances there and NOT have onwardd travel proof. I think the answer is no, you do not need to prove onward travel. But hopefully someone else in these comments can assist us. #4. No fee for the countries who are Visa exempt and get the FREE 60-day stay. #5. No there is no application needed. You simply fly to the country and land. Please remember that it is up to the discretion of the immigration officer as to how many days you will get. It IS normally 60 days for free. But they have ultimate discretion. Dont eliminate the possiblity of them deciding that a person gets less days....if they deem your travel is not for tourism purposes and, let's say, for work or permanent living...they may not grant the full 60 days. Now we don't write that to scare you but it is always, always at the discretion of the immigration officer of any country to look at each person's entry and if there's no reasonable doubt for purpose of travel then for sure you will get the free 60 days. After all that if you choose to overstay the 60 days and not go through the proper steps of extension you will face the consequences and fees from the Thai government at that point. So the 60-day free stay is meant to go and enjoy the country for 60 days and then either leave or go to an immigration office and properly go through the steps to extend for another 30 days. We hope that helps! Thank you for watching and we really appreciate your questions. Lori
Would you please send me the contact info of your ageng in Nayarit? Thank you!!!

Bonaire is not on your list? 🤷🏼♂️
It didn't make our list this time because Bonaire is not a location that we've ever lived in for any length of time (so far). There are hundreds of other locations... Indonesia, Asia, etc also, but for this video we put together our best list for locations that we've lived in. Have you spent some time in Bonaire @colinb8844? How would you rate the snorkeling? Thanks for watching our video and we're really glad you asked! Welcome!
Great advice and guidance .. I was able to secure my RFC on my own with ease. I’m a temporary resident with a CURP and went online to make an appointment. One suggestion when you’re making your appointment online, check your Junk/Spam folder for the email of confirmation. This is where my confirmation email ended up. I arrived with copies of all required documents and a USB (which wasn’t required because I’m retired and not working here). If you live in Nayarit, you must select Jalisco as there is no office in Nayarit and you must go to PVR. The SAT office has employees that will guide you moving forward . Easy 😊
Yes! Good for you, both for doing it yourself as well as catching the email in your junk folder @msbellyb! You gave a couple of extra good pointers here for people also so we thank you very much for adding your comment. Thank you also for watching! Is Puerto Vallarta your favorite area in Mexico?
Did you use any glue or sealant.
@aarondavies-morris9777 We did not use any glue or sealant, only the plumbing clamps that came with it.
Did you all have any leaking?
@aarondavies-morris9777 Coming up on 11 months later and at this point we still do not have any leaking. Are you planning on attempting this replacement soon? Thank you for watching and commenting.
Back in the 80's we used to go swimming here all the time and would occasionally climb up and talk to the guy building the resort, sad that he never finished it !
Wow @bdjm8595, that's really cool. We loved reading your comment! It would have been really neat to be in your shoes in those days alright. ... love the story about climbing up the rocks and talking to the builder and yes it's very sad indeed. Thanks so much for watching our video and we really appreciate you taking the time to write your neat memory. Ayr & Lori
One very important questions regarding Island hopping in particular flying from Curacao to Aruba, Which airlines should we book? Doesn't look like we have many choices and on top of that it looks to be the only mode of transportation. We found Winair but I saw so many brutal reviews, are they really that bad? and then we found Divi Divi airlines which don't even have a scheduled posted for 2025 and looks like their pricing is almost double of Winair. Are there any other airlines that fly between the two islands? Do you remember which one you took and I'm assuming your allowed a carry on? As always thanks for your input very much appreciated!!
Happy to help @tcmazz! No, to our knowledge there are no other means of transportation for the public between the ABC islands. Airline only. We flew with Aruba Airlines at the time, but we are not sure they still operate. Do a search perhaps? (We haven't even heard of Winair! haha) We can't recall what was included in the flights we took but at that time we travelled each with a personal item, 1 carry on + 1 checked bag. The flight and all bags were no problem. It's a normal airline and you pay for what you require. You can also look at American Airlines, Copa airlines and Avianca. We always use www.cheapoair.ca to search flights anywhere before we travel! They show awesome options. Hope that helps! We hope it does and we appreciate the support in any way you can, check out our links in our descriptions...if you click on any of the Amazon links we put there and then do whatever normal shopping you normally do within 24hrs of clicking our link, Amz gives us a few cents "thank you"! .. just sayin! 😉 🥰
@@PlanFree Thanks will do!
Um...don't think that's enough. You're supposed to go to an immigration office to get your actual temporary residence card...which you applied for at your local embassy in the US...unless you've already done that??
Hi @PhoenixwayNet, It's a pretty short video, did you happen to watch it right to the end or even a couple of times? We physically hold up our green cards right in this video. So yes! You have to have your temporary or permanent residency AND your Mexican green card in order to do what we talk about in this video. If a person does not have a Mexican green card or have temporary or permanent residency in Mx they cannot enter Mexico in the "Mexicanos" line. This video is talking about after you receive your temporary or permanent residency and you are in possession of your Mexican green card how do you properly enter Mexico the first time, and it's as we described in this short video. We encourage you to watch it again a couple more times. 😉😁 Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! Ayr & Lori
You guys know how much the Spanish language school cost? Thank you
Hi! What a great question. We should have asked! We didn't ask and didn't find out while living there unfortunately, sorry. There are so many different language schools, dozens! What we can do though is send a message to the people we rented from to see what they charge at their school. That might give you something to go on. Would that help or will you just try Googling it? Happy to help and we appreciate the question. Thanks for watching! Ayr & Lori
Thank you so much for this beautiful capture of your experience in Mindo. We are planning on traveling September 2025, my husband and I. A true blessing to be able to enjoy His beautiful creation. The butterflies and birds are so beautiful. So peaceful. What month was this visit? I know the cloud as well as rain forests, in Mindo’s case it’s both actually, it rains. But was told September is not a monsoon of rain either. 😊
You are very welcome @ilianahernandez9473 and we are so glad you enjoyed our capture of Mindo! I think it will rain more in Sept than when we live there (Dec), but you kind of don't mind, it's so beautiful and fresh anyways. Rain gear (for sure shoes!) and an umbrella really do make it fine! You will love your time in Mindo, Ecuador. And we have other great spots to go and explore in other parts of the country also. Let us know if you plan to visit any where else in Ecuador, we can help guide you. 🥰 God bless you both and your travels! Ayr & Lori
Hi since we are now retired we are planning on 20 days in Curacao this Jan 2025 and 30 days in Aruba in Feb 2025 Can you suggest the best place for accommodations near a beach where we don't have to pay everyday. We are also from Canada and look to spend up to $160 Cdn a day for accommodations, which area in Curacao would you recommend? We are probably looking at renting a scooter for the 20 days, any suggestions for a place to rent a scooter from? Thanks for any suggestions much appreciated! Subscribed
Hi @tcmazz, Great questions! Maybe we'll touch on the scooter first. You know, there MUST be scooter rentals somewhere in Curacao! ...but we don't ever remember seeing one to be honest! Strange now that we think about it. If we were you, we would Google it. And start calling around. If all you find is car rental places, ask then if they rent scooters or if they know of any places that rent scooters. If that comes up dry, you might try joining some Facebook groups in Curacao and posting your message/question in those groups. 👍 After that you asked about renting close to the beaches on both islands. Aruba is easy! ALL beaches are FREE in Aruba. So, wherever you pick to rent and get to a beach will be free and easy. We enjoyed checking our Eagle beach but it was so overcrowded and a bit stinky from all the resort traffic....it was def not our favorite. Farther north into Palm beach and Malmok beach were more our speed and perfect for us. In Curacao, we could guide you better if we knew where you are able to get to (like will you for sure have a vehicle? Do you want to stay near Willemstad to see all that city stuff? Do you mind staying wayyyy out from the city and out in the quieter parts of the island (way up northwest on the island)?) If way out is ok for you then we definitely found that alllll the best beaches (for us) were located where Curacao pinches off small in the middle there and upwards, northwest. But, all those awesome beaches all need to be driven to! We did not explore the rental market way up there on Curacao but there would definitely be some. Try searching in the town of Sint Willibrordus and Barber. Now, those are VERY local type towns, no tourism, but they ARE closer to all of the beat beaches! If you needed to stay closer to Willemstad for whatever reason, you might try looking to rent near Parasada beach or Boka Sami Beach (located near Fort St. Michiel). We also remember getting free access to Jan Thiel beach, and it was ok but sooooo many people. That whole section of Curacao, all up and down the coastal area N and S of Willemstad) was very cool to explore (we lived there for 6 months and also had our own car) but none of those areas were very peaceful or attractive to us. Very interesting. Lots to see. But WAYYY over developed, many large and small resorts that claim their stake of that beach and deny entry to those who don't live/stay there....we many time couldn't gain access or couldn't even drive in past the security gate just to see the beach there... blech. You CAN gain entry to Mambo beach and development (it's nice for a day, see what they've built there, grab a crepe! haha), and you don't have to pay of you put your towel on the sand rather than the chairs. You can gain entry to Jan Thiel like we mentioned also. Again, good for a day. It will be trickier to rent up north and inland from the beaches in Curacao, but if we ever went back, that's where we'd look. And get a vehicle! In Curacao we rented in the Schubapeleweg area, east of the downtown area of Willemstad, and we found it perfect for our every day routine. Our dentist and gym (for ex) were near, beaches were close for an evening relax, and with our car it was no big deal to take Saturday morning and skip way up Northwest to go to our favorite beaches for the entire day. Plus then we could just walk out on our front street from where we were renting and hit lots of different food stands, grocery stores etc. We liked being "in town" for those conveniences but having a car was absolutely key! Whew! Did that help at all? ...wish we could go back and give you a tour ourselves!!
@@PlanFree thanks for your reply,. Will it looks like we found a place in Curacao not to far from Piscadera Bay are you familiar with this area? It close to Marriot Beach Resort not that we are staying there, apprx. 850mtrs As to Aruba we are good, only been there like 15 times so we are pretty familiar with Aruba. In Curacao we also found a moped rental place where you can rent a 50cc moped with a normal driver license. I'm going to post you one more question hopefully you can give me some insight on Airlines between Curacao and Aruba.
