Professor Pericles was by far my favorite part of Mystery Incorporated. Everything from his persona, voice acting, his feats as a villain, and the fact that he's an actually threat unlike some of the other villains in the series.
The fact they made a talking fucking parrot a really compelling villain shows how good this show is. Sad they killed him before he ever had a showdown with the meddling kids 😔
There’s a reason people are still talking about this series. It’s the first Scooby Show I’ve watched every episode of. Definitely the better mature show compared to VELMA
@Scatt-Doo I like Mystery Incorporated, and it was what the series definitely needed at that time which was serialized storytelling. But yeah the classic episodes of where are you have this creepy feel, the monsters were more iconic, and the locations were always spooky looking
It's criminal how underappreciated this version of Scooby was. I wish we'd see another Scooby series like this. Glad to see it's getting more appreciated these days.
Man, I wanted that third season so badly. A cross-country road trip to the legendary university of Lovecraft lore and possibly dealing with cosmic horror mysteries. None of the Scooby series since then have a premise half as ambitious.
It goes without saying that SDMI is one of if not THE best modern adaptation of the Scooby Doo franchise! I love how at first the series starts out with the Scooby gang dealing with their usual criminals in rubber masks and then eventually it got more serious and they ended up dealing with bigger threats that turned out to be real supernatural entities!
Seemingly, at least. They planned it out that even in the first episodes there were the beginnings of the overarching mystery. Clues from Mr. E, the Gatorsburg clue, etc.
This is still one of my favorite series from the franchise. The darker tone both in visual representation and the stories, really make it stand out among Scooby's timeline.
Best reboot of an og franchise. Also gave us the answer to what the gang was going to in the original story which is even cooler as a reference Same with how the mysteries were stacking as the show went.
I kind of wish we got another season, where Mystery Incorporated being in the new world led to many familiar faces remembering their past lives and all the angst that follows.
@charmianernest1449 Yeah, imagine a new antagonist shows up, and after they're beaten, Professor Pericles suddenly remembers his past life and sets up his return.
I absolutely loved Mystery Incorporated. It was a great love letter to the franchise as a whole, and I loved its take on Scooby-Doo - the more in depth characters, the long-running plot, the tension during some episodes, etc… it was wonderful :)
If you want a more "mature" oriented scooby doo, then forget the show "Velma". This is it right here. This is one of thee most mature scooby doo iterations ive seen next to Zombie Island. Quite honestly my favorite. Its one huge amazing story with the same classic scooby doo formula, but with so many hidden dark messages many adults would understand. Im genuinely upset this has not yet received a blu ray release. like why lol
Velma isn't scooby doo, it's a terrible person's self insert fanfic using the names of scooby doo characters, because they were written so badly that the only thing the characters have in common is the names
The best iteration of Scooby Doo, because it's not just having a day to day mystery that they just have to unmask people wearing costumes, but there is an actual story and a mystery like the curse and evil entity
I love that they made Scooby an actual dog in this one. It's subtle, but It's there. He is very protective of his friends, especially Shaggy because their besties and he's his owner. He gets very upset and sad if anything happens to any of his friends. He is also very tuned into the feelings of the individual members of the group. Often being the first to offer them comfort when they're sad. All in all, he's a good boy. Fred may be the Heart of Mystery Incorporated, but Scooby is the Soul.
I unironically want a see a version of Scoobynatural where Sam and Dean are sent to the Mystery Incorporated Universe. Imagine the two's reactions to learning what went on in Mystery Incorporated.
Mystery Incorporated got me back into Cartoon Network in the early 2010s, because I was amazed how the cartoon returned the franchise back to glory! I was also disappointed when they cancelled the show, because it was getting darker and felt like it appealed to both kids and adults!
It used to scare me as a child but it is still one of the best Scooby doo shows, the references to other Scooby doo media and classic horror are just awesome. The plot was insane and I still watch it annually
Way back this show was on Netflix, and I remember randomly clicking on it while I was bored at home over winter break from school and it completely sucked me in. I wasn't and still am not someone who watches much animated content, nor had I even ever watched any previous Scooby Doo shows but I loved Mystery Incorporated and still think about it from time to time. Would love to do a rewatch at some point as I've forgotten most of the plot by now.
I loved the world-building and plot of the show. Yes, Fred being magically wired to love traps is a little annoying but it's still fun to see the main cast fleshed out with families, intelligence and interests. Velma being the daughter of a supernatural fanatic and conspiracy theorist while she's a sceptic was great to me, plus her sass. Daphne being a rich girl who doesn't fit in with her materialistic family, her sisters are all successful and therefore smart but she's the only one who isn't driven by sucess. And Shaggy I guess was the least surprising but his relationship that almost worked with Velma was a fun origin story sub plot.
Love this version, was just watching it with my son last night. After watching this, you gave me an idea: this version reminds me of a slightly more serious Kim Possible. Solve mysteries/catch the bad guy, Rufus and Scooby’s dynamic with Ron and Shaggy respectively, the romance between the friends, the side characters who get actual personalities and reoccurrences, etc
When I saw the notification I instantly clicked on it due to this being one of select Scooby shows I was heavily invested in. Nothing compares to how invested and strategic how the show combined story telling along with interesting episodic formatting made it one of my favorites shows along with gravity falls and more.
Mystery Incorporated is my favorite version of the gang. It did the Monster of the Week plot with the addition of character development, something only the original 4 direct to video movies from the late 90s did. It was a unique spin on the franchise that connected the past and present of the gang and left an indelible mark on the franchise overall.
Ahh yes I remember renting the first few episodes of this series when it came out and absolutely loving it. This is honestly my favorite iteration of the gang. I did rewatch the whole series a few weeks ago and it holds up really well and so does the humor. Forgot how funny this show can be.
Yes!! I love show! It was casted so well! They have so many great voice actors! I loved that they had Linda Cardellini, the actress who played Velma in the live action movies, play HotDog Water. Also loved that Bill Lumburgh from Office Space is Fred's dad, and Patrick Warburton is the sheriff. Also Lewis Black! Such a great cast and show!
I was never the biggest fan of Scooby Doo because of its episodic formula but I fell in love with this series because of the over arching story and the expanded personalities of the characters. And as you said this series was darker but still had the charm to it and that’s what I loved about this series. Paid respect to the original series while still being its own unique take. Honestly I really like this series and I’m gonna have to get myself to watch it again.
This is definitely one of the best incarnations for the Scooby Doo franchise which I not only love its monster of the week episodes (monster were fantastic) but also the overarching mystery which was very well thought out along with the gang’s interactions (love the inclusion of various cameos from HB)
I loved this series! it was a interesting versions of Scooby-Doo! One that I have really seen before, it was dark but unlike…certain…other versions *cough Velma* the characters were likeable and the events very interesting to watch. I loved it when Frend’s REAL parents turned up and how the old Mystery Incorporated got back together but as an evil version of the Scooby gang. Professor Pericles is one of the best villains of all time, he was unlike nearly any other villas in the franchise history, he didn’t want to commit a crime he wanted to take over the ENTIRE WORLD! the show got VERY dark, they mentioned death and even killed off a pretty major characters in a shocking way, yeah we don’t see it but the sound of the gunshots still haunts me! this is one of my favorite version of Scooby-Doo, “What’s New” was great and of course none of the versions would exist without the original, but this one is very special. The gang was great in this. Fred could be a bit goofy and clueless but he was a good person and leader Daphne was competent and take charge Velma was smart, sassy, and forgiving(more on this latter) Shaggy was still his goofy lovable self And Scooby was the heart of the team, he was brave even if he was scared. There are not a lot of negatives about it. Velma and shaggy was a couple was weird but they broke up fairly early and remained friends, I thought it was weird how Ricky went from being his enemy to teaming up with him but honestly none of that stops me from loving this series. I KNOW we don’t talk about it but…this show is what Velma WISHS it could be! Its dark, it made Velma a lesbian or as least bisexual, it had a TON of trauma, it told an overarching storyline thoguht its seasons, the gang didn’t always get along. However UNLIKE Velma the gang still acting lie FRIENDS mostly, when Shaggy broke his relationship off with Velma, yeah she was upset but she came to accept it and they were still friends, Fred’s and Daphne’s relationship was just great! she loved Fred for a while and Fred eventually realized he loved her too.
I replied this to another comment, but I think it fits for your comment too: Velma isn't a scooby doo show, it's a terrible person's self insert fanfic using the names of scooby doo characters, because they were written so badly that the only thing the characters have in common is the names
This is hands down my favorite Scooby-Doo incarnation that's ever been made and I can't wait to see you cover What's New, Scooby-Doo? later this month man! 😁
I watched some of the show but got scared by some things and never finished it. Like when the ghost pirate poped up and said nibiru in a creepy way that scared me so badly i never finished the show.
I didn’t watch this show for years, and didn’t know much about it. A friend suggested it because I said I loved Gravity Falls, and I’m really glad I watched it on Netflix. I devoured the entire series in less than a week. It’s the best incarnation of Scooby Doo, and it ain’t even close.
I live in Sweden so we got the mystery inc show on Cartoon Network from 2012-2014. Man I was 8-10 years old during this how and I was TERREFIED of the freak of crystal cove. Am not joking I would literally have MULTIPLE nightmares of the freak of crystal cove. But did that stop me on watching it? NO!
Same, i think we got it around the same time in my country and the freak terrified me to. I was so afraid of any episode he appeared in. But then I saw him again recently and i was like, oh 😂
Hard to forget. I do think it's the best iteration. The story was wild. I literally couldn't belive one of deaths, because I didn't think they would allow for something like that.
I say without fear that this is the best Scooby Doo iteration to this day. From the old things like Vincent Van ghoul to the things they created for this show like Professor Péricles, it was all exceptionally done
My favorite Scooby series next to my original A Pup Named Scooby Doo and the fact they're so different shows how versatile the franchise really is to me.
My favorite Scooby-Doo show ever this and What's New I really liked Where are you, Show, New Movies, 13 Ghosts and Guess Who... ..and I've nice memories to Scrappy-Doo season 1 show, A Pup Named and All star laff a lympics but Mystery Incorporated and What's New are both masterpiece's for me absolutly perfection :)
When this came out as a kid I was a pretentious little asshole and wouldn’t give it the chance cus it wasn’t my scooby doo (even tho I love all the other shows), last year as an adult I went back and finally gave it a chance and it’s definitely the best iteration. Perfect balance of campy fun and spooky horror, plus the ongoing storyline is genuinely intriguing and fun to unravel, the world building and lore is impressive honestly
Mystery incorporated just is the best Scooby doo version. I think this show did as good as the Ducktales reboot did with both referring to the older show and making something new
The fact that a Scooby-Doo show dared to be serialized automatically makes it the ballsiest Scooby incarnation to date. Or you know, actually spooky in a Lovecraftian way.
From a storyline perspective this reigns the best of the best for Scooby-Doo in my mind. I was so invested I spent 2 days binge watching this. Even outside of just the story it’s still among the best.
Heck yeah, this is One of my favorite Scooby-Doo Shows on Cartoon Network! It had lot of Crazy, dark, serious stuff going on in the storyline. This show was the Best!
Love watching your videos cause they remind me of shows that I either want to rewatch or shows that I started but never finished. I realized watching this video that I never watched season 2 of Mystery so I know what I am doing for Halloween.
Loved how you described the story of how it has a narrative that you want to follow along, but it's easy enough to follow that you don't need to go full-on detective to enjoy it. The show was directed by Victor Cook, who also worked on The Spectacular Spiderman. That show has a similar feel and also a unique art style that I love. Would recommend that show as well if people love Mystery Incorporated
How can I forget it, Jordan, if I'm just rewatching it 😅 I concur it was one of the most well developed iterations to these days ✌🏼thanks for the video
I always like the idea that this was a prequel to “where are you?”. Not in a literal sense (there are plot points that make it messy) but as a version of a love letter to Scooby Doo that could have been how it all began.
I loved this rendition of Scooby-Doo. I was starting high school and it was very interestingfor my age. I always wanted to see it and loved the new take on the series. Even my dad even liked the change they had on the series. The best version since the original.
I like the theory that Mystery Incorporated is a prequel to the original series, implying that after their incredibly dark journey through MI, they got to relax as friends touring the country solving mysteries like they wanted. There are definitely several issues with the theory, but it’s at least a nice idea.
I still love the fact that out of all the voice actors they had, one was the late Harlan Ellison, one I personally loved hearing after being introduced to his science fiction short stories by way of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.
I love stopping your videos to watch the other videos that fit. I watched the episode video once you mentioned it, then came right back here to finish this one. your videos are great Jordan and i hope theres more nostalgia to come
I really enjoyed how mysterious and dark it was. I loved watching it coming home from school- especially since I was an older kid at the time and so could appreciate it's gothic themes. I'll probably watch again in the near future
I'm glad to come from a generation to feel deep nostalgia upon seeing a video entitled, "Wait...Remember Scooby-doo Mystery Inc., instead of "Wait...Remember Velma."
Thanks so much for watching! What’s your favorite version of Scooby-Doo? Did you enjoy Mystery Incorporated?
Mystery incorporated is my favorite show
Plz do Casper's Scare School
DUDE MAKE A SKUNK FU VIDEO
Where Are you? And Mystery Inc
Thank you, I’ve been asking for Scooby Doo content on your channel for years.
To this day I will forever stand by and say Mystery Incorporated is the best iteration of Scooby Doo.
A million times YESSS!
And is!!!! 👏👏
Cool or something
As someone who HATED Scooby-Doo growing up this show made me love the franchise and it's different incarnations
You are not wrong
Professor Pericles was by far my favorite part of Mystery Incorporated. Everything from his persona, voice acting, his feats as a villain, and the fact that he's an actually threat unlike some of the other villains in the series.
He is one of the best villains I have seen
The fact they made a talking fucking parrot a really compelling villain shows how good this show is. Sad they killed him before he ever had a showdown with the meddling kids 😔
He's the "Moriarty" to Mystery Incorporated's (or just Scooby's) "Sherlock Holmes" in my eyes.
There’s a reason people are still talking about this series. It’s the first Scooby Show I’ve watched every episode of. Definitely the better mature show compared to VELMA
We do not mention that crappy fanfic that wastes and drags the name Mystery Inc through the mud.
Velma isn't mature it's crude. It's an important difference that most "adult" cartoons can't grasp.
Ofc I remember. This was the best version of Scooby Doo ever. Made it more dark and serious with a solid story line and character development
Tell em
Naw boy, "Scooby Doo, where are you?" is the 🐐...😂
@@daemonrider2199 In terms of a classic style Scooby doo Whats New Scooby Doo is the best

@charmianernest1449 Yeah, imagine a new antagonist shows up, and after they're beaten, Professor Pericles suddenly remembers his past life and sets up his return.
@@TKG785 you could even have him helping the gang as like a proper professor character cause it did seem more University pilled. And then your twist

Agreed
The best iteration of Scooby Doo, because it's not just having a day to day mystery that they just have to unmask people wearing costumes, but there is an actual story and a mystery like the curse and evil entity
Nah, it was the not so good part. I mean, coherent plot is good, but the real "magic" and the real monster felt out of place in this show for me

iirc, Sam uh... does Christian movies and stuff now ;)
Such an episode would make Sam and Dean wonder if Scooby-Doo and the gang actually entered their world due to how melodramatic this version can be.

Perfect balance of campy fun and spooky horror, plus the ongoing storyline is genuinely intriguing and fun to unravel, the world building and lore is impressive honestly
Mystery incorporated just is the best Scooby doo version. I think this show did as good as the Ducktales reboot did with both referring to the older show and making something new
If course we remember it 0:01
How could I forget the best version of Scooby Doo?!
The show is like Twin Peaks mixed with Scooby Doo… It’s perfect
Heck yeah, this is One of my favorite Scooby-Doo Shows on Cartoon Network! It had lot of Crazy, dark, serious stuff going on in the storyline. This show was the Best!
This is my top favorite scooby doo series it's just same damn good.
The greatest scooby doo iteration. Sad we did not get a season 3 😢
Remember it. Loved it. Have every episode & movie of it.
I still love the fact that out of all the voice actors they had, one was the late Harlan Ellison, one I personally loved hearing after being introduced to his science fiction short stories by way of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.
I love stopping your videos to watch the other videos that fit. I watched the episode video once you mentioned it, then came right back here to finish this one. your videos are great Jordan and i hope theres more nostalgia to come
The GOAT for Scooby-Doo series iterations. I enjoy most a ton, but this one will just be really hard to beat for decades to come.
I will remember this series man I love Scooby Doo and the movies
I really enjoyed how mysterious and dark it was. I loved watching it coming home from school- especially since I was an older kid at the time and so could appreciate it's gothic themes. I'll probably watch again in the near future
I'm glad to come from a generation to feel deep nostalgia upon seeing a video entitled, "Wait...Remember Scooby-doo Mystery Inc., instead of "Wait...Remember Velma."
Watched this with my 5 year old. Her intro to scooby, and what a wild ride for me without knowing how hard in the paint they were gonna narratively
