When you have one of the best offensive lines of this NFL generation, life's a little easier. Now Andy Reid's play calling against that insane Eagles pass rush, THAT was perfect.
@@pnwguy00 no one is disputing that Andy didn't do a great job he's been a head coach for what...24 or 25 years. Shane steichen has only been an OC for 2 years and a play called for this season so....pretty damn impressive If you ask me.

@@mat.martin666 its Sirianni's playbook amd I believe he and Steichen designed the plays together, but Siriani has said numerous times since before the season started that Steichen would be and was calling the plays during the games this season. After it was announced that he was going to the Colts, the DJs on WIP were wondering if Siriani was going to go back to play calling himself like he did last season.
As an Eagles fan, congrats to Shane, this is a well deserved promotion. Also congrats to the Colts organization for selecting a great coach. The Philly/Indy connection is a lil weird, Indy got Frank Reich from Philly, Philly got Sirianni from Indy, and now Indy gets Shane from Philly all in the past 5 seasons. Wish ya'll the best of luck in the coming season.

I was excited the minute I heard he was a candidate but thought it wouldn't likely happen. Really nice to see the emotion as it just feels more genuine than an over prepared speech. Very happy with this hire and can't wait to see the results next year. Not that I mean anything, but I might even consider renewing my season tickets.
People complain about Irsay and Ballard but they got this right imo. Regardless of what you think about him Irsay loves the organization more than anything and they are headed in the right direction! #GoColts

Steichen comes across as a man with a plan. After all the noise of the past few weeks, and months, my guess is that Colt fans are feeling much better at this moment. At least, I am.

As a chargers fan I loved Shane Steichen he was one of my favorite coaches ever. He gave two of our practice squad receivers career years on top of Herbert winning rookie of the year! There was a reason why Herbert lobbied for Shane to be retained when Staley took over.

Sorry for your loss, but when we lost our coaches to the Eagles we certainly felt it that next season, and into this past season.
Congratulations to your team by the way, you guys had a fantastic season, and played a terrific hard fought game in the Super Bowl which I respect.
This is however, a no whine zone so you just have to reconcile that this kind of thing happens every year.
The Eagles will be fine moving forward, plenty of talent.

He was main reason Eagles got to super-bowl… Nick Sirianni giving up play calling transformed the Eagles offense. Coach Steichen has an amazing feel for the game and with Anthony Richardson-sky is limit for Colts!
This might have changed the trajectory of our franchise. He is a younger, offensive minded coach that made Herbert and Hurts superstars. He coached a perfect game in the super bowl. The past two years Philadelphia has had the top rushing offense and now he has Jonathan Taylor. He turned a young, mobile quarterback from a 2nd round average quarterback to a star. I can't wait to see what he does with the rookie qb we draft. We are closer than people think because our defense is great. We need a qb, another weapon at receiver, and depth at the o line. The future is bright and I can't wait.

I appreciated an O-lineman getting the head role for a bit. Was hoping to see if he saw the game with a different perspective and capitalize off that. But I'm still a Colts fan through and through and I wish the best of luck to us all next season.

Shane knows his stuff. I think we’ll look back in a few years and say, “We have one of the best offensive minds in the NFL.”
My man - TALENT is the separator in this league, not PREPARATION. Preparation is mandatory. Every coaching staff throws their heart and soul into preparing. The fact that this guy thinks preparation is the separator proves that he took for granted the insane amount of talent that he had in Philadelphia (particularly inheriting the league's best OLine) and always having a great QB talent in his past rooms - Rivers/Herbert/Hurts. Prepare all you want, but if you don't have the talent to execute, you are toast.
Everybody in the NFL is talented. Not everyone prepares, prepares well, and prepares the right way. That's a fact.

I had Steichen from the beginning of the month long HC search. I had a gut feeling after seeing how he carries himself and communicates on the sideline, and of course elite play design and calling making the Eagles offense look as seamless as any other offense I've seen in a while. To be honest, I don't know how this hire doesn't end up working out.

Life long, die-hard Colts fan here. Irsay drives me nuts with his rambling. Can he just enjoy ownership, and not have to be so vocal, outspoken, attention hogging? He embarrasses himself, and draws ridicule. I would rather he just stay in the background and let Ballard run team, and Steichen coach. Back off not because you have to. You own the team, nobody's going to ever discount that. But back off because it's better for everyone involved all the way around. If you absolutely must speak, then how about preparing your comments in advance? You're just painful to watch up there Chief. Consider it strategy, whatever. Just please stop the long, rambling comments and let Chris do his job.
