Yes! You can just straight up plant a cinnamon tree in your home! Who wouldn't want to wait a couple years for some cinnamon?? #shorts #trees #cinnamon
Lots of plants are hella toxic, unless process right or only certain PARTS of the plant are edible. Good example of this is Elderberry; most of the plant contains cyanide, and other toxins, so consuming the berries raw are very much NOT recommended. After boiling and processing them though, they're perfectly safe. And he seems the kind of person to do his research. I'm more concerned about random netizens who think EVERY plant is edible and dont do their research.
I have cinnamon growing in my greenhouse, they start a bit on the slow side but once established take off like crazy and are extremely tough to kill in my experience. This will be fun to see how it pans out
I believe you mentioned you are in Utah, if you’re in one of the zone seven areas around Salt Lake you should check out “cinnamomum chekiangensis” it’s the hardiest species in the genus and can handle down to about 0°F
I thought the leaves & fruit of the cinnamon seedlings looked like avocado trees, so I looked it up and it turns out they’re actually both from the family Lauraceae :]
I have been growing trees for bonsai for a couple decades. I have those that are hardy(zone 6) and then I have my tropicals and subtropicals. Nearly all of my tropicals and subtropicals are trees I have started from seeds of fruit I get from the supermarket. I still continue to grow trees from seed because you get the opportunity to bend and shape the trees before they lignify. My latest exploits involves pomegranates. Although you need to use the seeds before they dry. And Limes are by far my favorite citrus trees. They are far more vigorous and tolerant of lower lights than the others. I've also got guava, allspice, pomelo, Lemons, kumquat, Bay Laurel (Bay leaves), arrabica coffee, Rose Mary, Avacado that's probably it for the edibles. I just thought I would share some ideas for your edible trees.
My cinnamon trees are sprouting here in Washington state today. I also have black pepper seeds planted. I have peanut plants inside which do well outside during the summer and I have tobacco plants even though I don’t use it. I also have a couple hundred cactus seedlings.
"in a few years" damn thisll be a series long in the making. litta hard work involved too. shoutout to the watering can and plant pot. fr tho im looking forward to this and cant wait to see how this grows! id love to see updates every now and then!
Once you have a tree, use the leaves do not damage the tree by hurting its bark. The leaves are also full of the essence and very tasteful. Cheers from la Réunion Island
I have an Idea for when this is grown well, you could make a cinnamon cake or some cinnamon ice cream and if it's possible, do the pinecone syrup thing with the seeds and fruit
I planted a mango pit last year and have a 2 foot tall little sapling now. I also planted papaya seeds but I didn't thin them out because I was lazy so I have to try again. And I have a pineapple growing from a top I saved from the store, it's been growing about 3 years now but Idk if it will develop anything. Still cool to grow.
I am curious what part of the country you live in. I live in Minnesota and a lot of species of plants will not survive the cold winters here. I have been trying to grow berries beside the street for all the people that walk by but I have yet to yield any berries. Plus several have died. I did not bring them in or even do anything to them to prepare for winter this year because in previous years a lot of our plants have returned by just leaving them alone. Also what species of tree would you recommend I plant here in this climate?
Do you think you could make chess pieces from different types of wood? And separate them by how dark they are so like there is a white side and a black side.
While I’m always happy to see people growing exotic plants, and cinnamon is quite a fun one, depending on your climate cinnamon can be an invasive species. So for the audience out there, just make sure to keep it indoors even if you can plant it outside where you live
The pot seems too big. Maybe it should have been a smaller pot to start with. This may get root rot in such a big pot. That being said you really look like you know what you're doing in all your other videos so good luck!! Can't wait to see your results. Love your channel!
I trust you did your research, but be careful you didn't plant a toxic variant of cinnamon!
@@lightdark00 oh my
I hope he sees this and checks
@lightdark00 yes and other species are even more tricky to differentiate and also toxic..

@@TheMistressMisery that's not the case for cinnamon

Ah, I love this! Thank you so much for the kind words! Looking forward to your bright future as well!

@@JustinthetreesDo you know which species of cinnamon you're growing?
im glad this inspires you, but please be careful putting your age out on the internet ^-^

sounds like you had a death match against cinnamon
@@caugm a cinnamon challenge, if you will
cinnamon is very susceptible to herbicide
They also keep nasty molds from growing in your greenhouses I've read

Appreciate that! They're so so good right now
@@Justinthetrees glad we're probably going to have a white Christmas this year.
I am positively jazzed at the thought that these videos will go on for years

wonder what avocado tree bark tastes like...
@@shedinjask it’s similar in composition to the pit of the avocado, so probably pretty bad lol
Maybe that's why I'm only kind of okay with cinnamon.. Whole family "tree" problem potentially haha
I am lucky to spend a large chunk of my day outdoors in my backyard thanks for the reminder to be grateful, and enjoy every moment. Love your channel

I'm amazed that your cats did not trample those tiny seedlings to their early demise
I remember when I found out that cinnamon is bark, it took me a bit to wrap my mind around the idea
Ty for sharing your hobby with us via shorts. I enjoy seeing what the woods turn out like and the knowledge.☺️
I never knew I would look all the videos of a guy about tress and food. But here I am… and here I will stay.
P.s I looooove your voice and charisma
You have inspired me to carve wood and to have a wonderful life living with nature and always enjoying it

Looking like a young Jason Sudeikis
That is amazing, I want to grow cinnamon now
I whould love to see him make something long and thin out of these birch types that Grow thing and tall
Since they're trees can you make the wood into anything?

This is so cool, idk why I didn't think of it beforehand 😆
Interested to know more about the fruits of it
Why did you dry the seeds? Isnt the fruit a nutrient storage to jumpstart sprouting and initial growth? Honest question I have no Idea

Is there somewhere I can see the map of the British Isles get made? I see it in the background but I don't know if it's in UA-cam shorts
I made it before joining UA-cam so I put a compilation of the tiktoks on my UA-cam channel!
Hey man just thought I'd let you know that you got it down. You're so good at what you do!
I tried to say the scientific name of cinnamon tree now my whole house is levitating.
I'm not a professional but a fan might help strength the stems
Mom, can we get cinnamon?
We have cinnamon at home.
Can you make a honey dipper
For the longest time, it didn't click with me that cinnamon was tree bark.
*HERE I COME I AM CINNAMON!*
Wondering if you need to keep them inside or need to grow in a specific climate? How big do they get?
'In another few years' he says. I don't think anyone would be patient how many is 'few years'?
You got the seeds at your local aquarium?
How have they grown?
I swear, my man here looks like a male Version of Millie Bobby Brown
Tall left sprouts is often a sign of poor lighting, fyi. You might check the light conditions those baby trees are growing in.
They almost look like tea tree seeds
My uncle had some weird leaf bushes that tasted like cinnamon.
You know what I have known about cinnamon for my entire life and I never knew it was bark
Okay to take stuff from an arboretum?
That looks like bayleaf
I love your content please don't ever get political
Mini avocado😱
cinnamon is such a yummy wood

What species of cinnamon did you plant?
:)
Where can I get some cinnamon seeds?
This IS the wood flavored water!
You should try the Acacia tree and eat it’s bark
Why? Does it taste good?
🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
I thought cinnamon was dried chocolate, then I thought burnt and dried peppermint leaves, then burnt leaves. Now I know it’s wood
This guy tempting us to commit sticking around for 3 years, just to see the result of a promising and fun series 🙄
You mean ✨️kayu manis✨️
*me watching this having stolen and planted a coffee bean from the local botanical garden*
Next target acquired
I planted an avocado pit and now it’s like 3 feet tall
What are the zones
Can you do the chess pieces
Wow, that would be cool since cinnamon sticks are so expensive
Him: did you know that you can get literally any seed and grow it in literally any well lit and warm house?
Is it Ceylon cinnamon, or will this one be high in cumarin?
Why dry the seeds if you're gonna plant them right away?
@lightdark00 many tree seeds (tropical especially) are not desiccation tolerant and will never sprout if allowed to dry out.
How did I not know that cinnamon comes from a fruit? 🤯
It comes from the bark of the tree.
@@C4nnibalC0rpse lmao thank you. I must have watched this in a loud room bc that went right over my head lol.
Oh...welp, guess ill be raiding my grandfathers garden
why did i think it would grow actual cinnamon
The only seeds I've successfully sprouted is locut
only clicked on this thumbnail because i thought this was eleven from stranger things with a man filter on her face lmaooooo 😅
also when the leaves are dried, that's bay leaves I think
Different plants, but in the same family of laurel trees. Dried cinnamon leaves and bay leaves are used the same way, but have different flavors.
