derek in his 30s peter in his 40s. they can be like 5 or 6 years apart. and no they were not schoolmates. peter was visiting peter while he was going to high school. even one scene derek says "you are not a student you are not allowed to be here" and peter was like "nobody would dump someone as attractive as me" or sth like that.
