We didn’t sleep at night. Day was when we slept, because night made the city come alive. I used to have a plaque in my shelter that quoted Kipling: “Wash daily from nose-tip to tail-tip/Drink deeply but never too deep/And remember the night is for hunting/And forget not the day is for sleep.”
Looking into going for the first time this year, but I lived in the Sonoran desert for many years and if you're going to day sleep use a wet sheet. That's how we get by without a/c.
YOU ARE NOT! I have just entered the dreaded...MENOPAUSE...and although I suffer from hot flushes and night sweats,I still MUST sleep with my beloved blankets! ( Just have to keep my bedroom at a cool temperature and have ice water nearby)! ^..^

REI self inflating 3.5" camp bed. Based on the Thermarest[TM] design. Works for my 65 year old arthritic back. Weighs a few pounds, but packs fairly well, and we're not backpacking.

I'll try and wear a few in some of my videos, my flat has been so hot the last couple of months that they've just been sitting on the shelf waiting for colder weather so I don't end up a massive sweaty mess from wearing them. Wigs are like the ultimate warm hat!

Normally I'm a light sleeper, but thanks to things like the SCA and Barterfaire, I'm acclimated to the thrumming of multiple camps. Though, waking up to random loud camps sucks but as long as the noise isn't directly near me, I'm usually pretty good. I've also woken up with someone's exhaust pipe spewing into my tent and I had to have some words with my new neighbor, who I was lucky enough to wind up on good terms with. I myself camp with a thick foam mat with sheets and blankets wrapped around and a sleeping bag in the middle... I think I'll be minimizing that if and when I wind up at the burn, though. My friend Bonnie, who has been trying to get me to the burn for years, can often be quoted as saying, "What is this, a RESTival?!" when someone talks about needing quiet to sleep... I laugh.

Must have a blanket to sleep! Even if it’s only a sheet. I always steal the thin blankets from the hospital for “hot sleeping” situations.
