    Loved this one. Fantastic scenery along the way. We (I) need a rerun with commentary and POI. I honestly didn't expect this to be a one shot trip. I expected you to at least have an overnight stop. I'm impressed. Thanks for taking me along...👍

      Just watched the summary video. Nice to hear some trip feedback and obviously ignore the "One Shot" comment above. (But still an impressive ride out)..

    That's a great video and good information for when I do it hopefully next year. I'm impressed with your time, I thought it would take longer than that so you must be rapid!
    Thanks again

      Thanks for the feedback on the video - glad you enjoyed it. What I think isn't clear in the video is that I did this over 3 days - so did short sharp sections at a pace I probably couldn't maintain over a single ride. Stay tuned for an upcoming video where I talk a bit more about how I tackled the route and the kit I used :)

      @@RustyRidesGravel Ah right, that makes sense with the weather change on day 3. I'm planning on doing the route as part of an event in May next year where they have water stations etc. They allow something like 14 hours to finish it, so its good to know what a benchmark time across three days is!

    Great stuff - Just what I've been looking for to scope out the route for a possible single day attempt on my gravel bike. Was concerned that you'd switched from the Checkpoint to a mtb, wondering if the terrain had forced the change, but sorry to hear you had an issue with the Trek.
    I've just uploaded a ride, looping from Carrbridge, taking in Abernethy Forest and the Burma Road - that's a tough climb (much like your ascent from Fort Augustus!).
    Looking forward to your follow-up vid providing some commentary on the trip/kit.
    Cheers

    Hey Rusty, If you could do it again and you had acces to a light full suss mtb or a gravel bike what would you choose?

    • @RustyRidesGravel
      @RustyRidesGravel  Місяць тому

      Hey, on the western side, gravel bike for sure. The eastern side has sections that are pretty challenging for a gravel bike and a mtb would be better. However, on balance, I would, overall take the gravel bike as it feels faster for me. But that's me and your mileage will very 😀

    Do you think anti clockwise better? Doing it in May over 2 days. Great vid cheers

      Hey, I think the route along the west side is better than the east, so wanted to go that way to ensure I wasn't too tired to enjoy the views. Other than that I wouldn't say there was much difference. Hope you enjoy it, it's a great loop!

      I’ve got a carbon MTB with 50 casette and a Kinesis Tripster with a 11-46. I’m not a strong climber by any means so not sure of bike to take

      @@kevturner3190 I would take whatever you feel most comfortable riding really. Both bikes would do well there - there are sections where you would love the MTB and sections where you will love the Tripster. If you don't enjoy climbing, I would take the "low route" on the Great Glen Way. That's my non-commital opinion on it :)

      Hey, various royalty free sites including the UA-cam music library. Really difficult to find anything that is ok and doesn't get you a copyright strike.

      Wow! That's pretty epic. You will love the route - but I'd still rather ride it than run it! Good luck!
