I just finished assembling my Detolf and am now getting ready to set it up. Your video is great and has given me lots of ideas, so thank you! My Syrian boy Ben is going to love all of his new space!
I just bought two DETOLF from IKEA. This is so helpful. I just have to figure out how to make a lid. Your cage setup is probably something I'm going to do. I like the natural theme.
You're so sweet. I think it's great that you learned and adjusted your care for your hamster. I'm planning on getting a detolf soon. Slowly collecting everything I need before I bring my baby hammy home!
Thanks for this video! My dad was given hamsters and they look so sad in their cage. So I want to give them a new home, hoping to give them one of these for each of them ❤️❤️❤️
Hi there! :) i’m sure you’ve seen this on other videos but just in case I wanted to let you know hamsters are solitary animals so it would be best to get them separate cages so they can live their best lives! :p
Oh my goodness, what a gorgeous hamster 🐹 Your tank set up is great, I love everything about it. My goal is to get a shelf like this soon and set it up for my mice. Great video ❤️
Omg that enclosure is so adorable , I have the same enclosure as you it’s great also your hamster is so cute ☺️ , I have a Syrian hamster and a Dorf hamster but they each have their own enclosures .
For this being your first video, this is incredible! I love the setup and you are so nice and pretty! I am one of ur first subs and will be with this Channel for a very long time 🥰😘🥳
This cage is sooo amazing! It’s so pretty and aesthetic and provides lots of entertainment. Although your hamster likes the flying saucer, I would recommend taking it away since they are bad for the hamsters. They can cause back problems and can fling them off if they aren’t careful. Other wise, this is amazing!
Wow firstly you are so pretty! But also I am thinking about making this cage for my hamster pepper who looks soooo similar to your hamster aha and your cage looks really nice! ❤️❤️
It looks super great! I love the natural look it has! Here's just some recommendations that might make the enclosure even nicer for the hammie: the water dishes are way better cause the bottles are hard to clean properly and thus can collect bacteria :c so if it also drinks from dishes, it might be better to take out the bottle! I'd also maybe put a thicker layer of the aspen, simply because you have the space and it gives the hammie more options to burrow in, but I love the "mountain" you gave it on the side, so he definitely has the chance to build tunnels! Same with the sand, a thicker layer means they can play and clean themselves better! If you can check, make sure the reptile sand doesn't contain calcium, because it often does and is not safe for hammies :( I personally use chinchilla sand cause its very fine and soft too :) sadly I think the food you give your hamster is not the best :/ It contains fruit and peanuts, they're not good for dwarf hamsters... I can't recommend you better food because I'm not from the uk, but in Hamster Forums they usually recommend healthy food and give explanations. Lastly, Hamsters love hideouts obviously and naturally build them themselves. In enclosures they can't do it that well so giving them a multi chamber house/ hideout has a lot of benefits to make them happier and live closer to their natural surrounding! Please don't take this as hate or in a rude way because I genuinely mean it to be helpful!! I can tell that you make sure you give your hamster the right things and care about it, and your enclosure is very far from bad! These are just tips that maybe help in case you didn't know about those things! :) Also your hammie is absolutely adorable, I love his colour :3
Thanks for your suggestions ☺️ this was my first setup in the detolf so since filming have added quite a lot more to it. She drinks out of both the dish and bottle which is why I like to leave them both in but she gets fresh water daily anyway 😊 I’ve been wanting to get her a multichamber hide for a while but at the moment so many things are sold out in the UK 😩 it’s 100% something I’m looking to get once I can though. The reptile sand I’m using doesn’t contain any calcium and is definitely a safe option 😊 I will have a look into different mix options on some hamster forums, appreciate all your suggestions 😊 x

I feel inspired! Thanks for sharing. (As a side note, I also learned that play sand is safe for them as well and it's SO CHEAP at the hardware store! It’s not recommend to have the light continuously on for long periods of time, so in day to day I don’t turn it on very often, it’s just helpful when filming sometimes or I need to quickly check something 😊 No problem I love creating little designs for it 😂 Yes I know some people chose to use children’s sand too I personally just don’t have a load of storage 😩 xx

She’s a Russian Dwarf hamster but likely a hybrid 😊 don’t let the cuteness fool you though she is a sass queen 😂 she’s actually changed colour SO much since I first got it it’s quite amazing x
Just one thing: saucers aren't really great for the hamster's back either because it arches on the side, plus if they don't control it they'll fly out and can hurt themselves
I'm worried about the cost and amount of bedding I am going to need for my hamster which I am getting soon, how many litres do you use for a cleanout to fill the detolf?
It really varies depending on what type of bedding I use. I switched to teabag bedding which is a lot cheaper for far more and I’ve found that to be really helpful, lasts ages ☺️

Hi I noticed how at the sides they white bits kind of go under the glass if that makes sense and I was wondering if I would be able to place the unit on the floor if I bought it Thank❤️
Yes. Obviously won't be enough to cover the entire detolf but they only need to cover areas with things that hammy can climb to near the top, the right side of the one in the video for example.
