    Broken string, guitar change, sound adjustments, behind his back, with his teeth plus a lost tooth and a great message on top of it all. Truly amazingly remarkable.

      Stevie switches guitars out, again almost unnoticeable and seamlessly with tech Rene, who brings the guitar made for Stevie by the friend the song was written for: Charlie. Very moving-another performance Stevie was totally into trying to make every sound just right-himself. He owned his production-like other greats (EP, the King)

    Everytime Stevie spoke, he was giving us pearls of wisdom. He loved everybody. He respected everyone. His mamma taught him well about being a good man. When he passed out on stage in Germany, they said he'd need to take some time off and clean up. He called his mamma and told her he needed to come home to get better. She told him to come on, that she'd be waiting on him. Then, after he went back on tour, and ended up crashing in that helicopter, his mamma was going through his things that he'd left there . He'd been answering fan mail by himself
    Actually writing out letters and signing pics to send out. He didn't make it back home to finish the letters, so Stevie's mom took it upon herself to finish the letters and pictures. I recall reading a story where a girl had asked for a guitar pick. His mom couldn't find any new ones that hadn't been opened yet, so she asked the girl if a used pick was alright. She sat there until every request was done. Amazing woman.

      Yes, her name was Ariann and she lived in Pittsburgh, PA. He handwrote the letter and included a pick. Google it.

    Last time I saw him play was at Benson & Hedges Bluesfest in Dallas about 6 weeks before he died. Stevie played last because BB King wouldn’t follow him. There was a couple sitting by me who decided they were gonna walk out when Stevie began, to protest him playing after BB. When Stevie started playing, they stood up, got their things together, then stopped, froze, watched him play, then turned to each other, and sat back down again. I’ll never forget. Of course, he brought BB King back out, who told us he’s the one who decided Stevie played last!

    Did you notice he changed out his guitar in less than a minute and never missed a beat? He broke a string on the Red guitar and got the white one. He also played with 1 hand. ❤ MY STEVIE ❤️

  • @robertjohnson1681
    @robertjohnson1681 3 роки тому +10

    Stevie dedicated this song to his friend Charlie that had passed away. Charlie owned the guitar shop that Stevie would frequent. Charlie made this white Strat for him. Stevie always tried to play on this guitar whenever he would perform this song. Apparently, for some reason he started the song with the red strat on this particular night. Maybe the strings were being changed, or possibly Stevie just forgot but I doubt it, but at least they brought it out in time to finish with it. RIP Stevie and Charlie.

    This is my favorite SRV song. He wrote it in honor of his friend Charley Wirz who was a mentor and helped Stevie in how he designed his guitars. He died suddenly of a heart attack. He named the guitar Charey after his friend. Bri gs tears to the eyes.

    Stevie Ray Vaughan was discovered by David Bowie. SRV played much of the guitar on Bowie's Let's Dance album. There was some controversy over the video for the song Let's Dance because it shows David Bowie playing the guitar (in the video) but obviously it was SRV that played the guitar on that song in the studio.
