I don't understand why people say that she needs to have actually met Joanne to write about her..Her aunt's death was a tragedy that affected her whole family. Joanne died young and she didn't die a "natural death" she died of Lupus (a disease that runs in Gaga's family). Joanne was her father's only sibling..so Gaga would have witnessed the aftermath of this loss while she was growing up. Plus Gaga is inevitably linked to Joanne..her name is Stefani Joanne..Joanne's name was Joanne Stefani..Duh she'd have some kind of connection with her aunt even though she died. Plus please remember she wrote this song for her grandmother and father, so it's written in their perspective. They're the ones speaking in "Girl where do you think you're going?"
Theres thousands of great songs people have sung over generations that people have not met the person in the song, not lived the story, its art, and people enjoy it that have not experienced the story.im tired of people always trying to find things to criticize
Ty for this. I love you. This song is perfect. You could see in the documentary when she played the song to her family waiting for approval cause it was made for them. It was everything for them.
My mom was a big fan of you GaGa and she was listening to this song everyday during her surgeries and chemotherapy . But now she's losing her battle against cancer , hope she just get conscious a few minutes so we can listen to this again
I hope you and your family are okay, my grandfather passed away 1 month ago, this song has meaning now to me. Your Mom and my Grandpa are now in a better place.
Lady Gaga's parents have a restaurant in New York City a few blocks away from my house. And it's called Joanne! I've eaten there once, it's pretty good actually. It's amazing that this poor woman's passing inspired both a wonderful restaurant and a wonderful album.
I've wanted to go to New York for a long time. I'd definitely go to their restaurant when i go, i'd imagine they do some proper top notch Italian food there :)
You're so lucky. I live all the way in California and literally the first place I want to eat at is that restaurant whenever I visit NYC(I visited my boyfriend once in RI and we took a road trip to JFK, I saw the outside of the city but haven't been in it).
I live in California, and when I flew out there on a business trip a few years back, Joanne Trattoria was on my to do list. I got there at 6pm but they didn't have room until 9pm. So I basically explored the area by myself late night for 3 hours. Bought some one wine on the same block as the restaurant, saw the music school that Gaga went to, walked the streets and through the park, while this song was playing repeatedly in my head. The experience was calming, beautiful, yet haunting. When I went back to Joanne's, a seat opened up, and I had the most delicious and filling meal. It is a very charming restaurant, and the staff are extremely friendly. Thank you to Gaga, and Joanne for the wonderful experience, may your spirit rest in peace.
My darling wife is called Joanne and this is her favourite song...not just because it's her name, but because she truly loves this album, and when she passes she wants this played at her funeral. We both love you Lady Gaga. God bless.
My boyfriend passed away from AIDS last year. I heard this song just before he passed, and couldn't get it out of my head. I firmly believe he sent me this song to help me process. It's such a beautiful and healing expression of grief. All I can say is Thank You Lady Gaga. You are a Saint.
I think I can somewhat sympathize. In 2018, my long distance girlfriend died by suicide. At the time, my parents were super homophobic and she was my rock. I was 16, so was she. Rest In Peace, Meg.
In her documentary, when she plays this song to her grandmother after looking through pictures of Joanne, and her dad sits in the corner of the room crying. That shit broke me. :'(
Holy Crap, I did not see her father when she was singing to her grandma! I was actually tearing up already, that's gonna put me in a puddle for sure. I love this song.
My mom's name was Joanne, she passed away in 2016 I miss her everday. Thank you gaga for a beautiful song it brought tears to my eyes. My mom would love it to she was a fan as well.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's almost 7 years since one of my best friends passed away & this song reminds me of her. And last weekend was 7 years since my dad passed. We just have the best angels watching over us
3 years ago tomorrow, my mother, Joanne, passed away from cancer. This song feels like it was written for me. Thank you for this masterpiece it has helped me through all the hell.
I have lupus. Unfortunately, it's a disease that has no cure, and affects internal organs, skin, senses ... When I found out that her aunt had died from this disease and that she had dedicated this album and this song to her, I was moved, because it's not just a tribute to her, but to all of us who fight against this damn disease every day. I hope the world becomes more aware about lupus thanks to this 💜
Laura C. My older sister has Lupus. It’s a horrible disease and my sister struggles everyday living with it. She got diagnosed with it years ago, and it wasn’t until a few years ago that I learned the extent that it affects her. Not just physically, but emotionally as well. I had the same reaction as you did when I found out that Gaga’s aunt had Lupus and passed away. Lady Gaga is talented and she is such a beautiful, and amazing human being. I hope and pray that one day (soon) doctors find a cure for Lupus and for all of the incurable diseases🙏🏼
I lost my sister to lupus three years ago, she died three months after she was diagnosed it all happened so quickly.. i feel i didn't get a proper chance to say goodbye to her. This song really touches my heart, and makes me feel calm
I know a place that will help you so much it’s a summer camp called camp MASH (mash stands for make arthritis stop hurting but it’s for anyone with an immune disorder) it’s such a wonderful place because your surrounded by people that have felt your pain and that know what you are going through and it’s a truly amazing experience. I go with my oldest sister every year because we both have rheumatoid arthritis and I really think you should try coming this year
My sister Barbara died in a horrible car crash. I was 18 from a terrribly broken family and she was my savior at the time. I cried ot "where are you going" for months and months, and to this day it hurts just as bad. It will be 40 years in 2 days. Thank you for this beautiful song. XOXO Amy
(Hi I’m Ali a boy) my father died so I as the oldest boy I took responsibility both psychologically and futuristically I became a husband to my mother a sister to my sister a father to my brother ... in addition to be the psychological guidance in the house and the crazy normal me all of out of pure love but things don’t come without a price I have problems with my sexuality so what I here in this song is (where I’m I going )
Being a Little Monster is never a bore. Why? Mother Monster's discography is utterly diverse. EDM, pop, rock, ballads, jazz, country, soul, etc., you name it. She has it all, and with complete, fervent passion for the art. Moreover, she reinvents herself. Probably soon, we'll have Gaga singing and dancing through rock metal or, even, opera! You'll never know.
EXACTLY! She's always doing different thing, surprisin, you know, I always knew she could sing well but every time she sounds even better, I really love her voice. And the concepts, she can do everything, she keeps me entertained all the time and that's what I love about her!
I’m hoping for like a disco album. The first time I heard disco heaven...I was...ugh it was just amazing. But sadly I feel like everyone would hate it if she did that 😫 but I know whatever she does, she’ll do it well
My sisters name is Joanne. She fought cancer for a few years on and off. Until cancer won that battle. Every single word of this song touches my heart ❤️ Thank you Gaga 🙏🏼
I like this version more than the version on the album; while the album version is nice, I think this version does a better job of highlighting the song's emotions and bringing them to the forefront.
this song means everything to me. i was 15 as well when i lost my 10 year old little sister to cancer, right before i was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. ive been a monster since i was 8 years old, 9.5 years ago. you've helped me beat cancer twice, the reason i came out as a lesbian and then as a transgender man, helped me beat two eating disorders, recover from a suicide attempt, stop self harming and more. this song makes me cry every single time i sing it or listen to it as it's the exact definition of who my little sister was. it makes me imagine her and joanne flying high together in heaven. i love you, Gaga. this song makes me cry but helps ease the pain as well. i wouldnt be alive or who i am today without you... almost three weeks ago i finished chemotherapy and radiation for the second time and i am two weeks on testosterone yesterday. i owe you my life
Im more happy that this won than Shallow. Not that Shallow isn't amazing, which it is, but this song get less exposure and it's more personal. It's Gaga' s story, it means a lot to her.
I see. Shallow's wins are predictable. Joanne's win is more surprising. It's also more satisfying to know that it beats commercial hits in the same category hehehehe
Last year my sister Maria, at the same age of 19, left us due to the same auto-immune disease Lupus. I dont ever want to be that helpless any more, anytime again in my life. All we could do was sit and watched her leave in pain. This song.. the lyrics... I feel them in my heart. Thank you, mother monster, for this heartfelt rendition. And as for Maria, my lil girl, I know where you're going, I know we'll see you again. Edit: Thank you all so much for your love and sympathy. May God bless you all.
Since her 2012 performance at the Grammys, I've been hooked. Her music has touched many peoples hearts, helped others through tough times and shed light touchy subjects. Thank you, Lady Gaga.
My Grandpa passed away yesterday. I can’t help crying listening to this song. “Every part of my aching heart needs you more than the angels do”. I wish my grandpa rest in peace with no more pain. To everyone who losing your beloved family and can’t see them the last time because of COVID-19, this all shall pass, let us hope for the best and keep up your courage.
So sorry about your grandpa. She wrote Edge of Glory when her grandfather died….listen to the acoustic version she did on Howard Stern…..for your Grandpa. Gaga knows your pain of this special loss!
José Doquezá what it proves is artists go on massive campaigns at these award ceremonies. That is a fact. She is not the only one of course, but she has made very clear her obsession with awards, charts, and sales even though she has made the false claim she only writes for the music. No one but her fans know this song anyway. She has a great team behind her for sure.
I lost my older sister when I was 15. That was almost 10 years ago and ive never been able to find a song that embodied all of the emotions I've felt since then until now. This song and these lyrics are true artistry and I'm thankful for it. 💜
This is a masterpiece. Emotional, sweet, natural ... and Gaga's amazing voice! I dedicate this song to my "Joanne", whose name was Maria, who died by cancer 5 years ago.. Girl, Thank you for all..
I cried when I first listened to it. Now, 5 years later, it still makes me cry. I'm too sensitive to this kind of music but it would be a sin not to listen to it. Thank you Gaga for the music you give us❤❤❤
Lady Gaga is a kind of artist who's never the same. She's always changing. And this is an important fact for being an real artist. Who would care about you if you would make a whole decade only pop? Nobody. Why? Because pop is a small music genre, everything sounds the same after some time. Respect the changing of Gaga, maybe the old Gaga comes back with LG6. Who knows? Please respect that fact. xoxo
My daughter doesn't speak to me any longer and it's been 4 years. I sent her this song because I miss her so much and want her to know I will always love her. Joanne has no idea how many lives she has touched in losing her own. I live with Lupus as well. All of those that suffered before us has paved an easier road for us. Lady Gaga is emotionally intelligent. It can be a blessing or a cruse. I am surrounded by people that keep their feelings close to the vest. I wonder if some of them feel at all. I wish I could give them a little of my own feelings at times.
Children idolise parents. When we get it wrong their world collapses. They forgive us when they get older and realise we are human. I sincerely hope your daughter forgives you for being human.
My older sister loved Lady Gaga. My family always knew to get her something of Gaga’s for either her birthday or Christmas. Unfortunately she passed away 2 and a half weeks ago. Now it hurts hearing anything of Gaga’s but I will be playing this song at her viewing. This song will never not make me cry while hearing it because of the memories that are now stained within it.
This is better than the original version. It has more emotion and soul poured into it, blending with her holy vocals. Plus, I love piano. An experience.
gaga is the most talented artist out there these days, fight me. writing all of her songs by herself, having the most powerful, angelic voice, nearly all of her music videos tell a story and could pass as a short movie with lyrics that actually mean something and you can hear the passion and emotions in her voice. she is not just making some mainstream music to get that money. with every song she makes she wants to get a message out there. gaga is one of the most iconic music artists in history.
Totally agree. It is like when you watch her music videos/short films you are transported to her world and she holds your hand and takes you through a journey. She really is the biggest artist in the industry because she has a maturity and is a visionary. I also think her intelligence, both cognitive and emotional intelligence combined with her discipline for passion, her work ethic, her strength, her bravery makes her the best artist on Earth. She has reached legend status. She's iconic, legendary and has made a huge impact on not only pop culture but also humanity. She is a true genius.
Dear Stefani, Thank you for writing this song. I loved this song when it first came out and last year I lost my brother unexpectedly. Today is a year from the day we buried him. My husband was singing this song today and I had forgotten about it until now. I often wonder where my brother has gone just like your dad wondered where his sister was going. That's the hardest part of grief, not knowing. Thanks to your lyrics, I'm realizing that my brother is soaring, and that puts me at peace. I hope one day to see him again. Thank you for this masterpiece. Sincerely, Sarah
I'm partway through the Gaga documentary on Netflix, and it got to a part where Lady Gaga played this song to her gran about her daughter. I had to come out and play the whole thing here to hear the lyrics in full. It's just had me in floods of tears- coz this song means something to me, too. It's what i would say to my own baby that i lost. I lost my baby through an ectopic pregnancy, but i always believed my baby was a girl. Her heart was beating inside me, and i will never forget watching that on a scan. And she will be 7 years old next month in heaven.
Love this song Stephanie. My brother died at age 10 when I was 5. Ive been singing all of my life to express my feelings. The melody of your song expresses my love, wish for him, wish for me, my not wanting him to go. I had a very hard life, and also have Fibromyalgia. Your gentle loving singing touches my soul. You are a brilliant artist Stephanie. God bless You. xoxo Sending love.
This song is so personal that I feel it in my bones, I feel the grief and the loss and the hope, and this is what real music should be like, made to make you feel something, made to make you feel everything. Thank you Gaga
My mom passed away when I was just under two years old. My entire life I’ve mourned someone I truly can’t remember and every time I listen to this song I feel her with me. It’s such an emotional experience for me and I’m so thankful for songs that allow me to feel such raw and pure emotion. 🖤 Lady Gaga’s voice is that of an angel and I can feel the loss in her voice when I listen. The documentary 5 foot 2 about her shows her playing this song her her grandma (it’s about her aunt that passed away it you didn’t know.) needless to say, I bawled like a baby!
Well, didn’t expect to be in tears after this one. While the songs done for her Aunty it will hit home with anyone who has ever lost someone, but also with anyone who has been a little lost. Bravo.
The music video is very sentimental!! I really love it. Every time I watch it i still remember my dad who passed away from cardiac arrest. This song is a theme for the loved ones who passed away from us. ❤❤👒👒 Xoxo, Gaga. Xoxo, Joanne.
Still cry listen this... Miss my mom so much... One day I will meet my lovely Elisa again! Thank u for help me day by day, Gaga, with your musics and everything you do and win, Gaga. Really proud, like was me doing and win. Really love you. THANK U MY QUEEN 💜
I was! I think many (older) fans really loved Joanne (the song and the album) but her somewhat younger fans did not get it because it wasn't electronic pop music
Well, not everyone is ready to understand her. She is not everyone's cup of tea. I didn't get her before but now I do and I absolutely love her. I love her versatility. LG can sing the phone book and still sound amazing. She can sing anything you challenge her with. She is an incredible show woman. She's so funny, bubbly, cheeky, even. I love her personality. Her warmth, her vulnerability, her sweetness and I love the way she makes you feel unique and beautiful because you are connecting with her. It is so sad😢 that she goes through so much on a daily basis and bring so much joy and love to the world. My life is always a happy place now because she is a part of it. I love you LG. You are truly amazing. 😍❤️😘Wish I could love and connect with other artists the way I love and connect with her. She ruined that for me. She set the bar too high. Any other artist ends up inevitably being compared to her and the way I feel when I hear her music. It doesn't even come close. It is just entertainment. Nothing else. Pure escapism but that feeling that I have just witnessed a true legend I only FEEL with Lady Gaga. She lives rent free in my head. I love you LG. I miss you. Hope you are okay😊. 🎅🎄🎁⛄Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
@@Urlocalneighbourisstalkingyou I know right!! It's sad because everyone (also me) perceived her as a weirdo but all this time she's so artistic and sooo so so so way ahead of our time!!
Lady Gaga should've been out in the 80's. This generation now takes her for granted. They do not appreciate her talent as much she should be appreciated. An artist like her should be in the same era as Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, etc. These artists were creative and very relevant. We do not see the same thing nowadays.
Hi Dash120z - I am not even talking about awards. I am talking about the quality of the artists. With all the respect they deserve but Lady Gaga is way ahead of Katy Perry, Beyoncé, etc. Her songs have lyrics and meaning.
Lyrics Take my hand, stay Joanne Heaven's not ready for you Every part of my aching heart Needs you more than the angels do Girl, where do you think you're goin'? Where do you think you're goin' Goin', girl? Girl, where do you think you're goin'? Where do you think you're goin' Goin', girl? If you could I know that you'd stay We both know things don't work that way I promised I wouldn't say goodbye So I grin and my voice gets thin Girl, where do you think you're goin'? Where do you think you're goin'? Goin', girl? Girl, where do you think you're goin'? Where do you think you're goin'? Goin', girl? Honestly, I know where you're goin' And baby, you're just movin' on And I still love you even if I can't See you anymore can't wait to see you soar Girl, where do you think you're goin'? Where do you think you're goin' Goin', girl? Girl, where do you think you're goin'? Where do you think you're goin' Goin', girl?
I lost my brother to Lupus. I'm currently losing my sister to it too. This kinda hit me a little bit harder than I thought it would. Thanks my Lady. This is beautiful.
she deserves a grammy for this masterpiece. Unfortunatly she didn't won grammys last night but this *Joanne* album was such a good thing in this industrial music industry ! A *true beautiful album* ...
My aunt Melissa died in a car crash when she was 17 on Valentine's Day. She was my grandpa's only child to make it to her teens - he'd lost his other two as babies/children. She was my dad's step sister, but he loved her dearly; so dearly that I was named after her. And my middle name is after my great aunt Louise, who was like a second mom to MY mom. Now my dad and aunt Louise are gone too, and I've kept his last name despite marrying. I am a living tribute. And this album gives me that vibe. I love it. It makes me cry, but in the best way
"She was my grandpa's only child to make it to her teens - he'd lost his other two as babies/children. She was my dad's step sister.." Wait a minute, didn't your step-dad make it past his teens? I am confused by this statement for many reasons. If your grandfather lost ALL of his children in their teens or before, how is he your grandfather?
firechaser4 he married my grandma before I was born, when aunt Melissa was like 11. He's my dad's stepdad. My biological grandpa is a dirtbag who abused my grams and my dad so I was raised believing his stepdad was my real grandpa. And he is, honestly - i know my bio. grandpa and he could give a shit less.
Mrs. Morbid I lost one of my aunts before I was born. She died 6 months before I came into this world. I feel somewhat kinda close to her without knowing her at all. Anthor thing is my birthday is the day after her birthday which is Valentine's Day.
Wow, I've never truly been speechless. Gaga, you've seriously created a masterpiece with this performance and video. I couldn't think of a better way to tribute Joanne. Thank you Gaga for sharing this with us. We love you!
i will always remember how i listened to this song in my earbuds in the hospital at 3am as i watched my beloved great grandma take her last breath in the hospital after having suffered a stroke on christmas. it helped me through the grieving process so much. this song was immensely healing for me and i know it has been for so many others and it is one of the many reasons why it’s my favorite song of all time. thank you Lady Gaga for helping me cope and for saving me in so many moments of my life. I love you infinitely Gaga, forever and always very, very dearly. 🤍
I lost one of my closest friends to suicide almost 4 months ago and this song really has so much meaning to me. This song is so comforting and helps with my pain. Very heartfelt. Thank you, Lady Gaga!
My brother took his life in 2018 and this was one of his favorite songs. Remember to enjoy the little things you wish they were still here to experience 💕
I never really comment much on here so bare with me but I felt strongly that I needed to share this with the universe in hopes that Miss Gaga herself will feel how appreciative I am for this song. I am sitting here at my father's bedside while he is slowly slipping away from this existence into the next; scrolling through my phone as a means of distraction and this video comes up as trending on my UA-cam. I press play and tears begin to pour within the first ten measures. For the first time in this long, painful process of hospice that we've been dealing with my soul feels release. I feel ok and at peace with what is inevitable at this point. I'm hoping that my feeling of peacefulness will radiate to my father and help him take that next step. I'm on the edge of glory with him right now and I needed this. Thank you Gaga.
Gaga said this about Joanne a couple of days ago "I have carried a deep grief in my heart over my family's tragedy. The loss of Joanne affected my father so deeply that it affected me. When he cried, I cried. When he was angry, I was angry. When he hurt, I hurt. Today I transform this grief to hope and healing. After ten years with you I still get nervous before the Grammys, but i know i have an angel with me #Joanne." Sadly she lost her nominations. She really deserved at least 1 :(
Joanne was a big part of Gaga life that changed her in many of ways. She smiles from heaven on how beautiful of a person Stefanie became. Love you Gaga xoxo, don't ever stop shining, sweetie.
My aunt died before I was born as well, and my middle name is her first. I deeply sympathize with this song, so much. As Gaga was named Stefani Joanne, I am named Gabriela Lisbeth; we are doing are aunties in heaven proud. Thank u Gaga for releasing this song!
My mom just know Gaga because of me, but she cried listening to this... So shock for me Gaga we love you!! Such an amazing artist, her voice, the emotion everything.
I suffered a horrific injury in 2017 that forever changed my life & my son’s life.... I remember learning how to walk again playing this song over and over again! Saying “Girl where do you think you’re going?! You can’t quit!” Thank you Gaga! 💋💋
Sascha Games just like, get on with it? Don’t make out a singer helped you through it. As if she sat there and quoted the lyrics out loud and then walked
I have seen A Star Is Born the other day, then I came to her Netflix documentary and now here I am. I wasn't a fan of her before but damn, she can write and sing real music! I am now fascinated by her and I try to understand her musical and look evolution. She really deserves to get attention from a more purist musical public, with a jazz-blues-rock album. Also, I can't love her more than when she tries to says a few words in french (I am french).
Joanne is very pop folk and even country. Cheek to cheek is a whole jazz album with the only mr bennett. People are just idiots and didnt even take time to enjoy these masterpieces.
Same here! I watched both the movie and documentary! She is sooo damn talented! Writes her own music and plays her own instruments. She’s got an strong excellent voice and can act too. And doing all this, she’s always in pain but doesn’t show it. I have much respect for this woman.
@@Nicolas-ob7vv But I do agree it didnt get as much attention as it deserved. A star is born on the other hand have a lot of air play ! I heard look what ive found and shallow more and more
We all had have or will have a Joanne in our lives. In my experience this song represents my grandmother. The woman who raised me and the only one from my family who did fight for me to grow healthy and loved. She left last year i was never expecting the way she left but her health got worst and all happened so fast. A part of me left me. I love her so much and this song represents her to me.
Never in my life have I expected Lady Gaga to sing a very haunting song yet here we are. This just proves Stefani's musical prowess and versatility that set her apart from her contemporaries and artists from the past.
I think the reason some of her videos are underrated is because most people this days only appreciate upbeat music and autotuned music.. but if you have a good taste, you'll appreciate this kind of masterpiece especially the lyrics.. My favorite song of Gaga are Million Reasons, Joanne and Shallow.. Forever Gaga
Jake Salloum My mom has Lupus and thalassemia but thank goodness my is okay 😊
Theres thousands of great songs people have sung over generations that people have not met the person in the song, not lived the story, its art, and people enjoy it that have not experienced the story.im tired of people always trying to find things to criticize
Jake Salloum .. who is joanne sorry i don't know about that
Hendry Naibaho the song is about her fathers sister that died at a young age her name was joanne
I had to live the same situation. Keep it up. All my love.
That's very moving.
I hope you and your family are okay, my grandfather passed away 1 month ago, this song has meaning now to me.
Your Mom and my Grandpa are now in a better place.
Hope you're doing well man, all the good vibes for you
How's your mom now?? I hope she's doing well

ShivJ16 who was Joanne
My darling wife is called Joanne and this is her favourite song...not just because it's her name, but because she truly loves this album, and when she passes she wants this played at her funeral. We both love you Lady Gaga. God bless.
Beautiful. I want it at my funeral too. God bless
🦋
That’s so sweet Tim, you love her so much and it shows!!
Joanne is Gagas most underrated album! It’s amazing!
My boyfriend passed away from AIDS last year. I heard this song just before he passed, and couldn't get it out of my head. I firmly believe he sent me this song to help me process.
It's such a beautiful and healing expression of grief. All I can say is Thank You Lady Gaga. You are a Saint.
Im sorry for your loss, he's in a better place now
Condolences :'(
I think I can somewhat sympathize.
In 2018, my long distance girlfriend died by suicide. At the time, my parents were super homophobic and she was my rock. I was 16, so was she. Rest In Peace, Meg.
So sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry honey, he’s in a better place right now, u need to be stronger than ever, I love you, even if I don’t know you, be brave, be safe!
my dad passed away this morning and this song has helped me with the months leading up to his passing, thank you
lost mine 8 years ago, I promise it gets better love,,, xoxo sending love your way
So sorry for your loss 💖
SORRY FOR YOUR LOST!!! WE ARE HERE TO SUPPORT U
Ripla flame y’all are so kind, thank you!
jamie boersma god bless u and your family.
In her documentary, when she plays this song to her grandmother after looking through pictures of Joanne, and her dad sits in the corner of the room crying. That shit broke me. :'(
Diana Villagomez SAME! It hit my heart.
Holy Crap, I did not see her father when she was singing to her grandma! I was actually tearing up already, that's gonna put me in a puddle for sure. I love this song.
same here...I can never listen to this song without tearing up.
For sure!!!!
Broke me into a million pieces
Miss Gaga, you are the Freddie Mercury of Pop, everything you do is a masterpiece. Thank you for your music.
she truly is someone you will never ever forget and always sing like freddy thank you
Thank you for sharing Joanne with the world, and showing us the truth about family and relationships. We love u Joanne!!
From Just Dance to Joanne. Man, this girl is a legend.
We just have the best angels watching over us
I'm so sorry for your loss...may all the people who died rest in piece :(
My grandma miss her Mom

I go with my oldest sister every year because we both have rheumatoid arthritis and I really think you should try coming this year
Laura C. 💟💗💝💞💙💜 xxx
I have lupus, as well. Hang in there, we got this
This song means to much for me... My dad died when I was 16, because of Lupus! Gaga somehow, cured my pain through her music!
Victtor Wow! So sorry to know that. Hoping you have found peace with this song 😊😘
Thank you guys! I feel very good! But of course, that the pain is still there, kept in my heart!
Im glad she could help you
So sad to hear your pain😭. Gaga's amazing voice is so out of this world that she heals all our heartache. That is why I love her😍
Wow I'm so sorry, all the best from Spain
Dedicating this to my little cousin who lost her fight with mental illness and addiction yesterday. Love you Sicora, so sorry girl.
So sorry......😭
i’m so sorry 🥺🫂
xo xo sicora we will miss her
I´m sorry, i know what depression is
My sister Barbara died in a horrible car crash. I was 18 from a terrribly broken family and she was my savior at the time. I cried ot "where are you going" for months and months, and to this day it hurts just as bad. It will be 40 years in 2 days. Thank you for this beautiful song. XOXO Amy
I'm so sorry🥺
That's heart wrenching
(Hi I’m Ali a boy) my father died so I as the oldest boy I took responsibility both psychologically and futuristically I became a husband to my mother a sister to my sister a father to my brother ... in addition to be the psychological guidance in the house and the crazy normal me all of out of pure love but things don’t come without a price I have problems with my sexuality so what I here in this song is (where I’m I going )
I lost my brother in law (covid) 😪😪
Hello 👋 how are you doing today?
Being a Little Monster is never a bore. Why? Mother Monster's discography is utterly diverse. EDM, pop, rock, ballads, jazz, country, soul, etc., you name it. She has it all, and with complete, fervent passion for the art. Moreover, she reinvents herself. Probably soon, we'll have Gaga singing and dancing through rock metal or, even, opera! You'll never know.
I'm down for rock metal ! And a duo with Miley Cyrus please
EXACTLY! She's always doing different thing, surprisin, you know, I always knew she could sing well but every time she sounds even better, I really love her voice. And the concepts, she can do everything, she keeps me entertained all the time and that's what I love about her!
and whatever she does, she always does it so fucking well
I’m hoping for like a disco album. The first time I heard disco heaven...I was...ugh it was just amazing. But sadly I feel like everyone would hate it if she did that 😫 but I know whatever she does, she’ll do it well
Plot twist: everyone's waiting for a whole rock album and she suddenly released rap.
This is why Lady Gaga is an inspiration; she is pure class, pure elegance, pure kindness ❤️
My sisters name is Joanne. She fought cancer for a few years on and off. Until cancer won that battle. Every single word of this song touches my heart ❤️ Thank you Gaga 🙏🏼
😢
🩵
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss.
May their Soul Rest In Peace. 🙏🏾🕊️
🙏🏿🙏🏾🙏🏽🙏🏼🫶🏼
I like this version more than the version on the album; while the album version is nice, I think this version does a better job of highlighting the song's emotions and bringing them to the forefront.
Definitely! This version makes me cry!
Both are good. But this version is far better.
I think the album version should had been a radio single 👌
this song means everything to me. i was 15 as well when i lost my 10 year old little sister to cancer, right before i was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. ive been a monster since i was 8 years old, 9.5 years ago. you've helped me beat cancer twice, the reason i came out as a lesbian and then as a transgender man, helped me beat two eating disorders, recover from a suicide attempt, stop self harming and more. this song makes me cry every single time i sing it or listen to it as it's the exact definition of who my little sister was. it makes me imagine her and joanne flying high together in heaven. i love you, Gaga. this song makes me cry but helps ease the pain as well. i wouldnt be alive or who i am today without you... almost three weeks ago i finished chemotherapy and radiation for the second time and i am two weeks on testosterone yesterday. i owe you my life
Beau Kirkpatrick you are not alone, we're a family, I felt so touched by your story, you're so brave, Paws up!💛
Beau Kirkpatrick stay strong ❤️
Holy moly you have had to endure so much more than most people you poor thing! Well done on keeping going. Never give up! ☆♡x
I can’t believe I found your comment. I follow u on instagram through Gaga and seeing your comments on her posts. Paws up!
❤️
I really want that she perform this wonderful piece on 60th grammy award.
유아블루 she is going to perform the song
We played this beautiful song at my mom's memorial service. Joanne my mom. So grateful for this.
wow...an incredible song to honor your moms//well done
place must have been a slobber fest but thats as it should be
My condolences to you and your family.
So sorry......
Im more happy that this won than Shallow. Not that Shallow isn't amazing, which it is, but this song get less exposure and it's more personal. It's Gaga' s story, it means a lot to her.
both songs won.
@@ian0721 I know, im just more happy about Joanne winning.
Me too.
i feel u sis
Hruaitea Ralte oh God thats so deep
Sorry i am crying read this ...!!
I can feel you
Kukuh Santoso thank you.
Hruaitea Ralte u re welcome dear
Man, I'm so sorry :( Reading that made me cry.
Jason Rodriguez thank you
Since her 2012 performance at the Grammys, I've been hooked.
Hello 👋 how are you doing today?
So sorry about your grandpa. She wrote Edge of Glory when her grandfather died….listen to the acoustic version she did on Howard Stern…..for your Grandpa. Gaga knows your pain of this special loss!
This woman's voice is so angelic. She is by far one of the most multi talented artists around.
This is the purest video I’ve ever seen
Jimmy G yesss
Jimmy G you're correct.💗💗💗
This song is underrated yet managed to win a Grammy.. Proves that views doesnt count.
Amen...thank the Lord this actually won a Grammy. Finally a song that deserves it!!!
Yeah,I'm glad that this beautiful piece won a Grammy, I really appreciate the passion and emotion behind this song. xoxo Joanne
But god is a woman deserved so much more.
Lucas Alves nah, they’re both shit singles
My 17 year old daughter passed 9/3/21 Delaney Mae...thank you for this beautiful healing song💓
AWW FCKING HELL sweetheart I couldn't imagine (& truthfully I really don't want to) I have a 5 Yr old son lots of love & wish you all the best ❤
I lost my older sister when I was 15. That was almost 10 years ago and ive never been able to find a song that embodied all of the emotions I've felt since then until now. This song and these lyrics are true artistry and I'm thankful for it. 💜
I am not surprised this got Grammy. This is a masterpiece !!
It has
@@gonzaloarvietti4920 "I am NOT surprised this GOT a grammy" they never said she never got one for the song.
Be strong!!!! I wish you get well soon and can talk to your daughter once again
Peace to you
I hope u get relinked again
🌹
Children idolise parents. When we get it wrong their world collapses. They forgive us when they get older and realise we are human. I sincerely hope your daughter forgives you for being human.
My older sister loved Lady Gaga. My family always knew to get her something of Gaga’s for either her birthday or Christmas. Unfortunately she passed away 2 and a half weeks ago. Now it hurts hearing anything of Gaga’s but I will be playing this song at her viewing. This song will never not make me cry while hearing it because of the memories that are now stained within it.
FCKING HELL mate I truly TRULY sorry life is a ĆÜŃT sometimes & really unfair I wish you all the best 💯%💙
So sorry that happened ❤
This is better than the original version. It has more emotion and soul poured into it, blending with her holy vocals. Plus, I love piano. An experience.
This version is a lot better than the original because it really brings out the meaning behind this song. It sounds so pure and beautiful
gaga is the most talented artist out there these days, fight me. writing all of her songs by herself, having the most powerful, angelic voice, nearly all of her music videos tell a story and could pass as a short movie with lyrics that actually mean something and you can hear the passion and emotions in her voice. she is not just making some mainstream music to get that money. with every song she makes she wants to get a message out there. gaga is one of the most iconic music artists in history.
YES
Let's fight
against anyone who says otherwise.
She is that good all generations of my family love her.
Dear Stefani,
Thank you for writing this song.
Sincerely,
Sarah
*This is so warm and personal*
SHE LOOKS LIKE AN ANGEL AND I LOVE THIS VERSION AND MUSIC VIDEO! GO GIRL!!
Rest in Peace our dear ChiChi Devayne, we will all always remember you baby.
we will miss,We love you queen. GOD.SAVE.THE QUEEN.
rest in power
Rest in perfection, Queen 🙏❤
rest in peace Chichi
My name is Joanne. This song came out when I was having a crisis. I still listen to it now and then to help me stay. I love you, Lady Gaga
Lamp Shade I'm sorry you lost your daughter
🙁🌹🌹🌹🌹
I miss her every single day- a part of my heart was ripped out and can never be put back
To think they said Joanne album was a flop...Lady Gaga proved them wrong. Keep on slaying mother monster.😍
Mpho Mokwene it was leaked before it was officially released so it’s hard to say if it really was a flop. I personally think it would have been a hit
I still say this album is some of the best music Lady Gaga has ever done.
It’s one of my favourite albums of all time and I only usually listen to rap
Love this song Stephanie. My brother died at age 10 when I was 5. Ive been singing all of my life to express my feelings. The melody of your song expresses my love, wish for him, wish for me, my not wanting him to go. I had a very hard life, and also have Fibromyalgia. Your gentle loving singing touches my soul. You are a brilliant artist Stephanie. God bless You. xoxo Sending love.
❤️❤️❤️
I wish you all the best! Blessings. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Wow this version is so beautiful ! !! Thanks you Lady Gaga for 'Joanne' and this era !❤
Just breathtaking. The voice of a generation!
This song is so personal that I feel it in my bones, I feel the grief and the loss and the hope, and this is what real music should be like, made to make you feel something, made to make you feel everything. Thank you Gaga
Nia Tano :) I agree
Bravo.
She's a pure example of why music is beautiful
Absolutely. And the other way around.
Her music is a pure example why she is beautiful.
@@matabas_1209 now this is my favorite comment 💖💖💖💖💖💖
I absolutely agree
The music video is very sentimental!! I really love it. Every time I watch it i still remember my dad who passed away from cardiac arrest. This song is a theme for the loved ones who passed away from us. ❤❤👒👒 Xoxo, Gaga. Xoxo, Joanne.
Lady Jopita te amo! Nos nos conocemos pero el amor alimenta el alma.
Alan González hmm thank you but i don't understand Spanish hehe sorry
🙏 for GAGA..she had to cancel the rest of her European tour..she is in so much pain..
this made me way more cry than the studio version... this deserves a thousand grammys!
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
Still cry listen this... Miss my mom so much... One day I will meet my lovely Elisa again!
Thank u for help me day by day, Gaga, with your musics and everything you do and win, Gaga. Really proud, like was me doing and win. Really love you. THANK U MY QUEEN 💜
Gaga said that she wanted to share something personal to her fans and I guess some people weren't ready for that conversation.
period
I was! I think many (older) fans really loved Joanne (the song and the album) but her somewhat younger fans did not get it because it wasn't electronic pop music
U get a nod from me
Well, not everyone is ready to understand her.
Agree, had Gaga existed in the 80s I'm sure she would've won some Grammy's by now.
Dash120z some? She has like 6...thats more than Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj
Martha Ruiz right, I've confused myself my bad
Dash120z. look up Lady Gaga's awards and nominations.
Hi Dash120z - I am not even talking about awards. I am talking about the quality of the artists. With all the respect they deserve but Lady Gaga is way ahead of Katy Perry, Beyoncé, etc. Her songs have lyrics and meaning.
Lyrics
Take my hand, stay Joanne
Heaven's not ready for you
Every part of my aching heart
Needs you more than the angels do
Girl, where do you think you're goin'?
Where do you think you're goin'
Goin', girl?
Girl, where do you think you're goin'?
Where do you think you're goin'
Goin', girl?
If you could I know that you'd stay
We both know things don't work that way
I promised I wouldn't say goodbye
So I grin and my voice gets thin
Girl, where do you think you're goin'?
Where do you think you're goin'?
Goin', girl?
Girl, where do you think you're goin'?
Where do you think you're goin'?
Goin', girl?
Honestly, I know where you're goin'
And baby, you're just movin' on
And I still love you even if I can't
See you anymore can't wait to see you soar
Girl, where do you think you're goin'?
Where do you think you're goin'
Goin', girl?
Girl, where do you think you're goin'?
Where do you think you're goin'
Goin', girl?
I lost my brother to Lupus. I'm currently losing my sister to it too. This kinda hit me a little bit harder than I thought it would. Thanks my Lady. This is beautiful.
she deserves a grammy for this masterpiece. Unfortunatly she didn't won grammys last night but this *Joanne* album was such a good thing in this industrial music industry ! A *true beautiful album* ...
Actually she did win a Grammy for this.

WE LOVE A BEST POP SOLO PERFORMANCE GRAMMY WINNER
I lost my grandmother two days ago, listening to the music, I feel the pain and I wish strength to everyone who is going through this
My aunt Melissa died in a car crash when she was 17 on Valentine's Day.
And he is, honestly - i know my bio. grandpa and he could give a shit less.
firechaser4 family isn't always blood numb nuts
My aunt died by cancer
Mrs. Morbid
I lost one of my aunts before I was born. She died 6 months before I came into this world. I feel somewhat kinda close to her without knowing her at all. Anthor thing is my birthday is the day after her birthday which is Valentine's Day.
I'm so happy this is nominated for a Grammy, gonna cry
I'm crying
me too.. she won, i cry more
Wow, I've never truly been speechless.

I’m so sorry for your loss
Hello 👋 how are you doing today?
I am sorry for your lost. I lost my baby brother as well a year ago. God is love and her souls is in peace!

Tanvin Anand YESS thats so true
Makes me smile..touches my soul though.😌
My mother’s name was Joann. She passed suddenly and violently when I was 7.
My daughter told me about this song last night.
It fits, so perfectly.
I'm so sorry
Heather Barnes I just felt you.
Oh God this is heartbreaking :(
So beautifully said. .may you both find peace as you go down this road together..❤😢
I'm not crying ur cryiing
God bless you ♥️
Gaga said this about Joanne a couple of days ago
"I have carried a deep grief in my heart over my family's tragedy. The loss of Joanne affected my father so deeply that it affected me. When he cried, I cried. When he was angry, I was angry. When he hurt, I hurt. Today I transform this grief to hope and healing. After ten years with you I still get nervous before the Grammys, but i know i have an angel with me #Joanne."
Sadly she lost her nominations. She really deserved at least 1 :(
Me encanta tu versatilidad estoy casado sino fuera tu novio

I suffered a horrific injury in 2017 that forever changed my life & my son’s life.... I remember learning how to walk again playing this song over and over again! Saying “Girl where do you think you’re going?! You can’t quit!” Thank you Gaga! 💋💋
Freak
Joseph Goodwater show some respect dammit, you know how hard it is for her and other people
Sascha Games just like, get on with it? Don’t make out a singer helped you through it. As if she sat there and quoted the lyrics out loud and then walked
Much respect for you. ♥️🌹
Joseph Goodwater The song helped her keep her mental strength to keep going.. Duh. Music can move people and help lift them up.
@@LizVictory Yes, I agree. It is mostly true with Cheek To Cheek, I have never heard a song from it on the radio. A shame.
Same here! I watched both the movie and documentary! She is sooo damn talented! Writes her own music and plays her own instruments. She’s got an strong excellent voice and can act too. And doing all this, she’s always in pain but doesn’t show it. I have much respect for this woman.
@@Nicolas-ob7vv i actually have heard perfecto illusion and million reasons sometimes on the radio in a long period of time, and i'm also french :)
@@Nicolas-ob7vv But I do agree it didnt get as much attention as it deserved. A star is born on the other hand have a lot of air play ! I heard look what ive found and shallow more and more
Your voice is pure silk. Your talent is on another level. Your love is the lesson the world needs. Thank you for being you. Thank you for sharing you.
I lost my aunt Joanne to suicide 9 years ago, this song sinks into soul and makes me think of her. It's such a touching song.
Sorry to hear 💟
😥
So sorry💔
Hello 👋 how are you doing
Hello, how are you doing?
We all had have or will have a Joanne in our lives. In my experience this song represents my grandmother. The woman who raised me and the only one from my family who did fight for me to grow healthy and loved. She left last year i was never expecting the way she left but her health got worst and all happened so fast. A part of me left me. I love her so much and this song represents her to me.
This song brings many emotions to the surface
Gabriel Souza I cried in the first 30 seconds. So moving. You can feel her emotion.

Never in my life have I expected Lady Gaga to sing a very haunting song yet here we are. This just proves Stefani's musical prowess and versatility that set her apart from her contemporaries and artists from the past.
Joanne is a GRAMMY WINNING SONG
JoAnne love gaga
No words can describe how beautiful and amazing lady gaga is
truth.
Estoy fascinada, me encanto! Un hermoso fin para esta era, el vídeo refleja algo muy personal, sin duda la esencia de joanne!
Her voice, so powerful and...provoking of feelings. I love how she has grown from pop star to something real!
Forever Gaga
honestly this Joanne piano version music video is a fuckin masterpiece
TEEEEA. she is so fuckin' talented, an amazing artist and a genius lyristic.
If you like these songs then you should also listen to Till It Happens To You and Angel Down
