      Exactly , there are a lot of stories where the birth family straight up rejects adoptees . Sometimes the parents will reject just out of sheer defensive mechanisms . You can never truly know what can happen . If you want to find out for whatever reason , it cannot be a lone pursuit. You need people in the fight if you want to find your birth family.

    I just read the articles, including the follow-up where she finds her birth father! I'm so impressed with her tenacity. Her birth father married but never had children. I hope that's a good thing- that he's excited she's the child he never had, rather than a bad thing- that he doesn't have interest in a relationship with a child. I hope she has peace having some answers.

      I read the articles as well. I was stunned to know that the mother abandoned 5 babies in total and only raised one son. I would truly like to understand what goes on inside the mind of a woman that could deliver babies on her own and then abandon them - and why she would not use birth control. I hope Janet writes the book. Amazing that she was able to solve this mystery.

      @@natbb9 - a woman gave birth to and abandoned five children. She clearly had no health care while pregnant, as well. And I'm awful for not wanting to know her if she was my mother? Scared of what? Birth control?

    • @singtweetypie
      @singtweetypie 5 років тому +5

      @elfriede Jordan Yes it is. Try as I might, I cannot understand why this woman would continue to put herself through the physical ordeal of giving birth, on her own, that many times - but had no interest in being a mother. Birth control was an option she did not bother with - and preferred to take this route of abandoning them. And what then caused her to decide to keep and raise her son?
      Maybe in some twisted way, she thought she was helping women that couldn't have children? It is too bad that these abandoned children will never have answers as to what her thinking and rationale was. It is certainly a sad but intriguing story.

    • @MommyOfZoeAndLiam

      I look at it differently. She was obviously not in a good place in life if she had multiple pregnancies from multiple partners resulting in 3 full term babies in 39 months (since they are all only half siblings none of them have the same father). Yet that woman chose to do everything she could for them, they were healthy babies carried to full term and lovingly wrapped up and left in the safety of a place that would get them medical attention and found them wonderful loving homes. Byes she should have not kept getting pregnant, but beyond that she did what she could to ensure the children would have every opportunity that she couldn't give them. For all we know each time she planned to keep the baby and then realized after getting home from the hospital and struggling in whatever situation she might have been in, that she was unable to be a good mother. Because it doesn't sound like the babies were abandoned immediately after being born. I think giving up a child willingly is al,last always done as the most gracious gift of love. Whereas selfish people keep the baby because they are attached to it, but unselfish people realize the harm they will do by keeping it. It mentioned that she went on to "make her own family" which hints that hers was not great, so let's give her the benefit of the doubt that she was going through some things and possibly barely more than a teenager at the time.

      @@MommyOfZoeAndLiam that is such a kind and thoughtful response. Being a mother is extremely hard especially if she didn't have the support and resources she needed to properly care for her children. A mother will do whatever she can for her children and the circumstances surrounding their births were difficult one could speculate. She tried to ensure they would be safe and found and that's really saying something that she wanted them to be ok

Forgiveness takes away the power to be controlled by the hurt into the future.

    A banded is such a harsh word. Times were so different in those days. Unwanted pregnancies for many were difficult for so many especially young unmarried girls. Abortion was not legal. Medical services were not easy. Many people gave babies to someone they felt offered a better life. Adoption or “abandonment “ should never be hidden from children…..just like the “my father who raised me and loved me” isn’t my birth father. Everyone involved should know everything so when child is old enough and intelligent enough to enough to understand should know the truth.

    Implicit in the word "Mother"are the traits that word embodies: nurturing, caring, love, support, patience, expenditure, yet never knowing wha the final product will be. Closure is an unword that is a press invention: closure is the heart to heart bond forged by mothering.

    • @poitiers2853
      @poitiers2853 5 років тому

      "Closure" (psychology) was a term created In 1923 by psychologist Max Wertheimer . It means clarity and capturing the essence of what we perceive. Wertheimer defined it in geometrical terms, it means drawing a singular line, and when the line becomes blocked (life event) , another symmetrical line is drawn underneath to close the geometric shape. Think of an oval. Curved line on top. Swipe back and draw a curved line on the bottom to complete the oval. The singular line goal of the daughter was (past) to be parented by her mother. (singular line blocked by by the mom's abandonment). Still on singular line path, daughter tried to meet mom (blocked by life event of mom's death.). Closure - discovery had reached the limit/end. She swept back, completed the oval by using both upper and lower symmetrical lines because she was clear about who her mom was, what happened and she captured the essence of the perception of her mom's past. If we had a time machine and could go back and correct our mistakes and the mistakes of others, thus obtaining our goals, dreams and desires, there would never be a reason for closure to exist in the first place. Life would always be a contentious singular line and not an oval.

    If anybody is interested in searching for their birth families I can help you. I've reunited many people separated by adoption. I don't charge anything. Lmk if I can help

    I was not adopted so I do not quite understand the extreme interest in finding out the biological parents that some adoptees have. Maybe if it happened to me I would be the same but somehow it also seems to be a rejection of the adopting family. They say that they had a good childhood. Did they not bond with their adoptive family? I can understand an interest but not the obsession. It seems among adoptees that there is a range of interest. Some really don't care much and others are obsessed. I wonder why.

      Reactions vary from person to person. My cousin has two children via an open adoption. One is curious, but not ready to know her bio family. The other has no interest at all. I'm adopted and always felt it would be disloyal to my parents to want to know about a bio family. But you really can't understand unless you've been there. You don't look like anyone. Your parents heritage isn't your heritage. And for me, the older I get, the stronger the desire is to know.

      My son was put up for adoption while I was working on the road as a driver. I was forced into signing as I had no support from anyone to fight it. Lucky for me, when my son turned 18 we reunited. A lot of questions were asked and answered. 5 years later, his adoptive mother and I "birth father " are married. What I've learned is that some people who were adopted have no desire to meet their birth families. Some do. I is a choice only they can make and understand. 4Veritas, you'll know when you're ready for that step.

      I was never adopted but had a very disconnect family tree, I was always the curious one wondering where we came from and did the family tree. We all want to know where we came from and why we like what we like

      It's always good to have changes on our every/daily story...that girl made a step...it always make sense when an adoptees have still time to find answers about their beginnings😊🙏 being grateful that they're on Earth living because of their biological parents who may not be there for a long time😥 they've learned to love and forgive😊🙏
