Came here to say this. Needs a pause on Amaury at each split (or every time it hits out of sync by over a second) to give context again. As soon as it is more than a second out it is impossible to appreciate what is going on with the side by side
Nice one GoPro. This is great. Reminds me of the side by side comparison for pole position on the Formula One channel. For the future, perhaps you could include a continuous graphic that shows how the riders gain and or fall back against each other throughout the run?
Great addition. We'll keep in mind for the next one for sure. Whenever we get a chance when the Top athletes are wearing the GoPro for their run, we are keen to share and continue to make them better for all.
Amaury gained most of his time on the top half of the course, but Dak was also super fast! Great to see Amaury back to his super human committed self even after life life-threatening injury makes it even more impressive!
Great job GoPro! Interesting to see how much Dak gained after taking a wide line @1:11 - they were almost head-to-head after the bridge @1:24 And how the hell did Amaury almost fly over the crest at 2:31?! Insane
Looks to me like Amaury used more of the edges of the track to maintain momentum. It allowed him to skip or hop over obstacles that would slow him down. It’s crazy, when I watched Dak’s run I thought that’s gonna be tough to beat. And it was. Then Amaury absolutely smashed it through use of slightly different lines. The skill level of these riders is incredible.
At 0:12 they are dead even, yet 4 seconds later Amaury is almost a full bike length ahead at 0:16 & 2 full bike lengths at 0:22 just b/c Amaury taps that little rock and Dak goes a foot to it's left to set up that last turn in the open.
He gained 1s on split 1 on those berms. He's turning much quicker on than dak. Dak seems to be leaving he's rear behind on the berms. Amauey On 1:40 gained a lot more coz of his fast entry and exit speed while the line on dak is significantly slow.
@@mbgerozaga i think it's not about the rear. From my perspective, Amaury had much smoother lines which allowed him to maintain speed. Some lines Dak took were very interesting and creative. But I feel like there are lots of places where he turns the front wheel to hard. Amaury had just smoother lines which didn't make him get stuck and lose speed. Just check the first berm where Amaury got ahead What I mean is the way Amaury connected pieces together was just smoother and faster because of that.
DAK's fork set up seems like its diving into the holes and is weighted down. A.P.'s Is skipping, and skimming over everything and not getting swalloed up.
We would love to. It's dependent on which riders want to wear the cameras as it is riders choice and then depends where they place. Any time it all aligns then we will definitely run it for sure because it is rad to see. We had one with Nina Hoffman and Vali Holl that was very close and you could see the back and forth the entire run which was great.
may be the footage color messin with ya. dak went earlier due to a bad semis and likely had a wetter course. but by small margins. it didnt quite rain during the race but it misted all day. the sun properly broke out right before Amaury dropped in. I'd argue nobody got a super different track. but as last to drop it would have been most dry for Amaury.
@@TeddyParker per multiple people up top and trackside for both runs, track was better during Amaury's run. It was also 1 hour & 2 minutes later in the day. Trees & grass get to suck up the evening rain as the day progresses. Even track, Amaury still wins. Those 2 wide lines up top after already being 2 bikes lengths ahead at 0:22 seconds in (Pierron is a powerful sprinter) would have been the difference on an identical track.
Well DUH. Amaury has a lower body profile and is more aero and is saving seconds with drag. Combine that with a couple better lines and you get 5 seconds. High rise bars aren't aero.
I think also due to tyre drag. A longer lower more forward position places less weight on the rear wheel which in turn makes the bike roll faster and the suspension work smoother.
Need to line the clips up at each split so you can see the difference

Like pause the leader at rhe split then restart when the trailer catches up. Good idea.
Same here
yeah and put the split times on the video, can't be that hard.
First few turns are practically in unison until Amaury absolutely RIPS that one berm 😮
Amaury turning rocks into a pumptrack @2:00

I developed a tool to do exactly that 😅.
@@GoProBikewhich cameras were each athlete using? Daks looks way better
We need Ben Cathro to make the comments on those two clips because we don't have a chameleon eyesight
TRue🤣
This is one of the collest DH POV's I've seen - watching Amaury just get further & further ahead!

Really insane!
Wow he just kept on making time all the way down. Phenomenal.
The side-by-side view is so interesting. Love to see the comparisons.
The different line selection is incredible for such a tight track

Me thinks the line choice at 1:40 blasted Dak
I'd rather say the inside at 0:35. Lost some exit speed
came here to post this, a cool line but he had to brake so much to get on it, looked like it cost close to a second?

Yeah. He was definitely smoother all through out the track as the time splits proved it.
All I can see is rock, roots and drops. I can't believe my eyes.
Dakota did say he was taking it easy playing safe and Amaury pretty much went all out.
1:07 is fked up lol
thhat bounching on the slippery rock was suicidal and insane 😂
I feel like daks line was better there??? Idk Amaury is a madman lol
Legit Y.O.L.O. line.
That was awesome.
This is awesome! 👍🏼
Great race by both. Not sure what Dak can take from that other than Amaury’s an MTB alien from planet “smoke you.”
Dak's rain visor was less aerodynamic
The way Amaury shot off in that upper berm was insane
Please do it by splits. thanks
What a comeback after his dreadful injury last year!
Crazy 🙌🏼
Absolutely monstered those tree sections.
DAK's fork set up seems like its diving into the holes and is weighted down. A.P.'s Is skipping, and skimming over everything and not getting swalloed up.
I bet a LOT of pros are going to watch this
then cry!
Dak's inside line at 1:43 might have cost close to a second?
We also need lost footage of FinIles.
Convince him to wear win for the finals and we would happily share ;)
Need more videos like this. Wonder how this would look when the riders are withing 1 second or less of each other?

@@GoProBike Thanks
What's up with the lost 1-2 seconds in Dak's clip when he drifted into the corner after the big stepdown at the end? It just cuts forward
0:37 Dak inside and Amaury outside.
It's not in the rough stuff at all. About 3 seconds happened through three of the smoother corners.
Rain visor and long hair creating turbulance and drag. Dak's run looks so hectic in comparison to Momo's smoothness.
So dope!! 🙏
#GoPro & #RedBull do it better than #WarnerBros
It's like the dude is floating
So he was just a bit faster everywhere?
Increíble
He strong
Looks like there are no brakes on Amaury's bike
Each eye should look separately.😵💫😵😵💫
its the handle bar. amaury is just more aero.
Amaury 1 second faster already in the 5th or 6th turn...
The track is drier on the left. Dak did great but he's no Amaury.

Not convincing and wrong
Spoiler: He went really fast
