    I’ve purchased the Fosi V3 with the 48volt power supply and hoping it will pair well with the Micca RB42. Since they are a warm speaker with deep bass but not efficient, the idea is that the higher voltage will help. Plus if the V3 is clear and bright but a little lacking in bottom end, the deep bass and rolled off high end of the Micca could theoretically be a really good marriage. Time will tell.

    Hi there, i love your opinions and suggestions. Always with a sense of humour but honest and straight forward. I have the Denon PMA 600 NE and it powered the Q acoustics 3030i.s...marvelous combination and sound. But last week i changed the 3030i.s for the new Q acoustics 5020. I.m overwhelmed by the sound,really brilliant! The 3030s were very good but the PMA 600 with the 5020s... What a combination. After a couple days running in the sound is so smooth,so clear.. Hifi doesn.t have to be expensive. Really blown away by the sound. And i love my PMA 600,a no nonsense,laid back powerful enough amp. I use the Denon 800 series musicstreamer and a Pro ject debut carbon evo turntable. Low budget Hifi but for me the best. I enjoy the sound every single day! Keep up the good work and keep you videos coming!

    VERY helpful video for a noob like me. I'm trying to soak up the information you share, looking for patterns in the strategies you describe, tied back to component specs, the 'synchronicity' between components, my common listening dynamics (music profiles), and my room/listening conditions.
    It's a bit like learning a new language; I don't have any preconceptions getting in the way (except the weirdness of a smartphone front end - I like dials to drive by!), but it feels like I'm discovering a new way to think.
    Thanks for sharing your intelligence and experience!

      Another noob here... I thought I was doing a solid to myself by getting the Edifier 1280T. But I messed up, theres no sub out thats the --s version. And its powered so idk if I can even add a dac or amp or if itll help. II mean I know a DAC will, but do I need the preamp in the wiim or the internal dac with the wiim. In what way is it a preamp anyway?

    Love your channel man! I am currently using a Trends Audio TA 10.2P T-Class amp (bought for €100 second hand) as a power amp with my Marantz NR1200 (bought for €450 second hand) as pre-amp. My speakers are Q Acoustics 3050i's (bought for €400 second hand). The combination is so sweet. The Marantz was lacking definition with the Q's in my new living room and I was looking for second hand power amps when I came across the Trends Audio. It has completely transformed the sound. It's almost ridiculous that this wee little box has so much clarity and definition, it's one of the best sounding combos I have ever had for less than €1000! Love it, T-Class rules!

Got the Fosi TB10D after watching your review and it is a great sounding Amp. Once I put the DAC in for the USB and cut out the computer DAC it improved dramatically. I don't care what the folks out there say about these amps these are a great way to get into this hobby and figure what I like without breaking the bank..

    I paired the Yamaha AS301 with a pair of Dali Spektor 2 and it sounds beautifully in small to medium room with the loudness, bass and treble tweaked. Great for vinyl records as it tends to pull that bass out without the need for a sub woofer. Unfortunately the AS301 doesn't come with bluetooth but to compensate that I just added a Bludento B2 apt-x DAC receiver.

    I bought the V3 even though I didn't need it and I'm buying a Marantz 2230 from a friend. My plan is to build a pair of CSS Torii's to replace my soundbar and use my WIIM Pro as a pre-amp with the Fosi bridging the optical out from the TV to the amp. I have no idea how the WIIM will switch between the TV and streaming but I guess I'll find out.

    Don't want to spend too much if I won't hear the difference anyway with a cheaper amp and I need some quality speakers that are small enough to fit on a small PC desk.
    Also; been watching a the channel a lot and enyoing despite a poor knowledge of speakers and the like.

He is not using them currently. Would they pair well with the Aiyima T9 Pro until I can decide which “modern” speakers to pick up later down the road? The sound in these rv’s sucks at best. do you really recommend pairing the sony sscs5's with the Aiyima T9?? i looked it up and the Sony's are rated at '6 ohm 100W' and the Aiyima is rated at '4ohm 100W*2'... using a rough estimate, i assume that plugging the Sony's into the Aiyima (Sony's having a 6 ohm rating going into a 4 ohm rated amp), that it would "half" the output power of the amp. so instead of pushing 100W, it's pushing only 50W. So from what i understand, you'd be trying to power a 100W speaker with 50W from the amp. this doesn't sound right. I don't know if you overlooked this or i might be mistaken. either way keep up the videos. very informative

    Hey man please help me. My wife thinks im insane. But I know itll be worth it in the end and im trying to wean my kid 2 years old off tv and into listening to music and moving around more. I have a Edifier 1280T and I was supposed to get the 1280DBs. So I dont have a sub out, and its powered with no bluetooth.
    Im really looking at the Wiim Pro Plus with the DAC. I have a soundbar with a passive subwoofer (Razer Leviathan version 1) and it has a proprietary connector on one side (the sub out is proprietary, easily looked up with lots of people confused on how to fix it or replace it) the other side is a red and black into the subwoofer case and is accessible. Im curious about obviously if I should get a preamp in the form of the wiim pro with the dac. Or should I get a a AMP and thats it. But its a powered speaker, well the right is powered and the left is passive as im sure you know.
    So I guess I have the option of getting one amp just for the subwoofer. But then would it need a dac too?
    I also dont have the LFE sub out or any sub out. Which makes me sad.
    I only hope I know what im talking about enough to get some advice.
    I have 270 to spend, and I can still return the edifier for 99 bucks. I am using a PC currently with the two analog into the PC line in. I happen to have a random red blue and yellow into 3.5 mm. And Ive been playing around with it, but im not sure what im doing. (Sticking the red and white into PC IN vs AUX in on the powered right edifier, and then the yellow aux into random ports and seeing things change.... not sure sometimes it feels like its a good change sometimes not. Im curious but is there a reason to have both aux in and pc aux in at the same time if its from the same PC?
    Or TL:DR HELP! I need to add to my edifiers which I probably will replace with passive speakers that are better like the Sony scs you talk about a lot. So then I need to know, is the Wiim Pro Plus "pre amp" even necessary and if then the DAC in the wiim pro plus, will that be worth it in this situation.
    Lets pretend I have either switched to the Sonys (which I think are passive) or to a different Edifier or Kilsch or Polk in the 100-200 price range. Or any speaker.
    Gosh im so sorry. Help me, ill get you some coffee.

    Nah more noise on the bt20a pro, you can hear when the Bluetooth is trying to connect. There is a reason they left the tone controls off the v3. Even though it’s the same chipset is argue there is more separation and less noise (separation is more objective but noise is measurable) anyway v3>bt20a. If my routing were just a tad different I’d say upcoming za30, like the v3 with xlr ins

    is there a big difference in sound between the fosi bt20pro and the fosi v3? is it noticeable and worth upgrading?

    • @ChrisStoneinator
      @ChrisStoneinator 6 місяців тому +1

      If you already have a Fosi, don't 'upgrade' to another Fosi. Save up for a proper amp or buy one used. Look for something with Class A/B (truly good Class Ds exist but are the exception not the rule) and more importantly, look into what matches your equipment. This is often lost in the hype when talking about these new cheap releases. Often a far less expensive option will serve you better if it synergises with your other equipment. What's the rest of your system consist of?
      An example (from the headphone world but still applies): I bought a Rega Brio (cost me £500) and it sounded brilliant for my Q Acoustics 3020, which is a very cheap speaker, in a small room - I can testify it's a brilliant amp. But it drove my Grado RS-1s terribly because it has a 100Ohm output impedance, leaving the Grados completely undamped and ringing. So I supplemented it with an Arcam rHead, which is a very well measuring and well designed Class A amp with a lovely stepped attenuator volume knob that initially retailed for £600, I got mine for £200. Bargain, I thought, but it sounded almost as bad, because its output impedance was so low that it overdamped the Grados (which were designed in the 90s for older amps), making them sound congested and unnatural. And because my source (Arcam CDS50) was already neutral and tame, it just sounded boring. It was quite literally too good for my system. So I got an old Matrix M-Stage HPA-2 off of Reverb for £70, rolled the op-amps and I couldn't be happier, even though it's a considerably lower priced component released into a much less competitive (2010) market than the other amps I tried.

    Hi Randy! Some pairing advice if you could? My current speakers are Overnight Sensations(DIY kit), I think they sound similar to the recently reviewed Accoustic Energy AE300 based on your description of them, I drive them with an A07 (36V). Would you say the Fosi V3 (48V PS) would be a worthwhile upgrade? I realise you haven't reviewed my speakers, you can just base your opinion on the Accoustic Energy.
    P.s. I feel like the Overnight Sensations kit fits well for the cheapaudioman channel to review, its a cheap and easy kit. Sounds good to me. If you have time and interest in doing more DIY which I think you talked about a while back(?), I'd suggest it! Probably wont be as good as the CSS you built though.

    • @peterlarkin762
      @peterlarkin762 Рік тому +1

      They look pretty good! Ive been looking for a little kit like that. I don't think you need higher voltage PS, they're 8 ohm speakers rated at 25W. even with the low efficiency.

    • @danielh12345
      @danielh12345 Рік тому

      @peterlarkin762 Oh I love them! But I don't have experience with other HiFi really so it's hard to judge how good they actually are and how much I can get out of them haha. I just wanted good speaker and like DIY + learning new things so I built those and learned to veneer etc. Gifted a pair to my brother for his birthday too, he's over the moon. These speakers do very well for me, the imaging I get is spectacular and the bass is crazy for the size. I built matching stands to get the tweeter to earlevel which made it even better. I think it's good value for money but its hard to judge since I've never owned good store-bought speakers. Friends and family are impressed with them though and they've owned some good speakers. At any rate, it's fun to build and personalize to your taste!

    I've found that cheap amps on decent to good speakers (cheap) sound cheap. But, good amps on the same speakers makes them not sound cheap. It shows just how good the speakers can be instead of limiting them.

      I was driving a pair of Q Acoustics 3020 (not even the i model) off of a Denon RCD-M41, and upgraded to a Rega Brio before upgrading the speakers. I was expecting not to hear £500 worth of difference because of how limiting the speakers were, but holy moly, it sounded WAY better in my room. A year later and I haven't had the need (or, to be fair, the means) to upgrade the speakers yet.

    • @seano218
      @seano218 6 місяців тому

      @ChrisStoneinator see! My experience has been multiple cheaper amps with decent speakers that scaled up nice! I got my son a Rega IO for Christmas for his Polk S15s and wow, did they improve! My roommate had a basic Sony 5.1 receiver on his Polks and upgraded to an Arcam receiver and honestly sounded like a different pair of speakers! My neighbor, my friends, etc... multiple stories of the same. My experience, I urge people to get a better amp before blaming their speakers.
      Btw, glad for you that you are enjoying that upgrade!

  • @samuellord8576
    @samuellord8576 Рік тому

    I like that you try to buck trends and dogma, but really the proposal is backwards, in my opinion.
    These days there is a bounty of_good_ choices in both cheap amps and cheap loudspeakers. But speakers remain the best starting point for a system because their sonic (and measured) character varies more than any other kind of component. So the speaker choice should come first, then the amp.
    Okay, if you already have an amp that you know is good but your speakers crap out or were just a bad choice to begin with, then this video makes sense. Otherwise I think you should put the horse in front of the minivan instead of behind it. Mixing metaphors for your pleasure. But within the current structure you still made a good video.
    In other news, I wish you would do a comparison of affordable (up to $1k) tube preamps. There aren’t many but there should be lots of them. Tube preamps paired with SS power amps are where the magic is. Cheers!
    Cheers!
