    Mostly good tips, however I don't agree with setting burst speed to M. On my G80, H gives a faster burst in AFS mode (9fps instead of 6) and you do still get live view (or review of each shot after it's taken, if you have that enabled) and it stays on continuously, whereas in M speed the screen flashes on and off which is rather distracting. Also 4K Photo can be great for very fast-moving things, yeah it's not full res but you can still get good results so please don't think that it's useless :)

    Just thought I'd add some thoughts regarding this camera and the GH4 - for those trying to choose between them. GH4 has larger battery and more choices for shooting video. G80 is smaller/lighter but still big enough to handle larger lenses. G80 has ibis which is good for around 5 stops. I'd say G80 for predominantly stills shooting but GH4 better option for video providing you can do without the ibis (if you can't then GH5 is worth considering).

    @uglyigor3055 7 років тому +3

    well appreciated. Was waiting for this after your video setting explanation. Can you maybe give some details about the settings "iResolution" and "iDynamicRange". I'm mostly also shooting RAW and JPEG but I'm not 100% sure what those settings do. I like the picture quality (JPEG) better when deactivating both of this settings but maybe you have other experience?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 років тому

      i.Resolution is sort of in-camera sharpening, it selects contrasting parts of the frame and it decides what it wants to sharpened. It is very similar to using "masking" future in Adobe Lightroom. It can produce good results, but I personally don't use it, because it is a bit unpredictable.
      i.Dynamic is basically in-camera HDR, so it boosts the shadows and turns down the highlights, it can actually produce very good results, it is in my opinion worth trying.
      There futures affect JPEGs and video, not the RAWs.

    • @uglyigor3055
      @uglyigor3055 7 років тому

      wow. Thanks a lot for your response. Guess I will turn on this features on low or standard setting and see what it really does. Maybe I can get a little bit better JPEG Results with it out of the box. Don't like the standard settings to extreme. The real sharpening and Dynamic editing I always do in post with RAW anyway when I like a special shot, but maybe it is possible to use those options for a general better JPEG Quality. Can you let me know on what settings you use this features? low, Standard, high, extended?
      Thanks again for your reply. I really appreciate your videos and opinion.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 років тому

      You're welcome, I don't use these futures at all, I prefer to do editing in post, but will probably make a video about those, because I'm also curious how does it work.

    • @uglyigor3055
      @uglyigor3055 7 років тому

      I will make my own tests as I just want to check if I can increase the JPEG Quality a bit without editing every single pic in post. But I would love to hear your opinion on those specific settings as well.

    I love your videos man, it gave me a real good headstart switching from DSLR to mirrorless but in this video, at 3:16 you said " With G85 I always use Mechanical shutter because it is quiet and it causes almost no shutter shock ". Man I'm confused can you please explain further, cus on other videos they said mechanical shutter causes shutter shock and it is not quiet. Thank you.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  6 років тому

      Thank you, there si different shutter mechanism in every camera, some cause a lot of shock like in most DSLRs but the shutter in G85 is very soft, so there is almost mo shutter shock. Of course, with electronic shutter there is no shutter shock, but it may cause rolling shutter issues.

      The g85 uses a new mechanism for the shutter to eliminate shutter shock. It was a complaint from the g7 that the g85 addressed

    I own a G80 but very frustrated by the folder system;
    The pictures are stored continuously.
    How do I set the images to store in daily folders like other cameras.
    I mean all images taken today store in folder 04/09/22 etc etc.
    Right now all my images are in a folder dated 10/03/22.

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  7 років тому

      Because the mechanical shutter has moving parts, and it will wear down over the time. It is rated for certain number of shots (typically between 100 000 and 300 000, Panasonic unfortunately doesn't say how much.) If you are taking long timelpases of thousands of shot, the mechanical shutter would wear down quickly, which is why I use electronic shutter.

      @TheHybridShooter  7 років тому

      Unfortunately, I haven't tested 14-140mm yet, but from what I have seen the differences in mage quality are pretty small, It is practical to have that focal range in one lens, but you would 140-200 focal range and especailly 12-14mm focal range which makes difference and is useful in my opinion, so it depends on your preferences.

      The 14-140 3.5 is a brilliant lens range for travel and daily use. Quality is not bad but it's not fast. Usually I ignore the quality for the convenience since I'm not a professional photographer. Combine it with another fast large aperture lens and you are 90% fine and easy

I tried it out today and I have set the camera to manual and focus is set to pinpoint. I have question about lenses because I bought Panasonic 25mm F1.7 and I don't know is there sense to sell 25 mm for Panasonic 20mm? is there really huge gap between them in terms of sharpness , dof etc?

    Hi there,
    I bought one and when on M mode when I press the shutter I get a black screen with a red dot for like a minute.
    Why is that?

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 років тому

      I don't know that can cause that, it is probably defective unit.

    • @2play4win10
      @2play4win10 5 років тому

      @@TheHybridShooter I bought it second hand and the menu needed to be adjusted.
      It was a combination of shutter speed and iso I guess.
      Thank you for responding.

    What settings would you guys suggest for concert photography? ☺️

    • @TheHybridShooter
      @TheHybridShooter  5 років тому

      Lens with wide aperture is probably the most important thing for that, you can use manual settings, widest aperture, shutter speed depending of the amount of movement and auto ISO.

    I bid goodbye to the over hyped Fujifilm xtranny sensor shit.
    I somehow happen to lay my hands on a lumix gh3 and it blew me off with its lovely and lively colours.
    Clearly Panasonic is the way ahead for me :)

    after 2 years with this camera and trying out all the recommended "optimal" settings for both photo and video, well - photo images are always "flat" and lifeless. Including what I see on this post. Whenever I see a good photo from a Sony APS-C - jwow - just not doable with this camera. Video is much better but I also question all the hype about the "great" stabilizazion. Ultimaltey I relaized that the footage looks kinda fake, it bobs like you are filming everthing from a boat. So, selling and changing to Sony. Oh - and the AF is a joke compared to Sony.

    • @TheHybridShooter

      That is probably because you use the kit lens, which is indeed flat and lifeless. Shots from Sony in this video were taken with optically the best lens there is for it at F1.8. That makes most of the difference.
