    10 years for shields seems long until you learn that it wasn't just 10 years to copy it. It was 10 years to make a stronger and better version of it that covered and moved with a spartan, instead of being a handheld shield

    Much as people might hate them, the Office of Naval Intelligence would be the UNSC's saving grace here. A lot of the dumber things they did mostly happened well after the end of the Covenant War, and that was because they lost their focus. They became the personal cudgel of Parangosky who was far more concerned with maintaining personal power and using it to enforce her political agenda and how she believed humanity should be ruled than actually pursuing the mandate of her office. They lost their checks and balances same as Palpatine did in Star Wars during the Clone Wars, and for the same reasons. Difference being that Palpatine was effective because he was playing 4D chess against himself. ONI was effective because they were damned good at their jobs and didn't much care about what moral boundaries they might have to cross in the name of ensuring humanity's survival in a war they were destined to lose.
    In almost all of these scenarios? Asymmetric and information warfare is your only path to survival and ONI excels at it. Section 3 was one of the only truly effective tools in the UNSC's arsenal when fighting the Covenant because of how flexible and discreet they were, and how very, very good they were at executing precision strikes, often behind enemy lines without their opponents ever being aware they were there. Similarly, smart AI is going to be a game changer in both cyberwarfare and in research applications. It wasn't because Forerunner tech was designed to work for humans that made AI useful for them. That function only mattered when flesh and blood humans interacted with the technology because it was locked to their Geas or genesong, no such luck with that for AI. Their computational abilities were just that good, to the point of being able to actually burn a few months or years off their life cycle to brute force translate the Covenant language from next to nothing.
    Also, NOVA bombs, actually very realistic. Most nuclear weapons are hilariously inefficient, only converting a very small percentage of their fissile material into energy while the rest of it gets vaporized and becomes nuclear fallout. Whole point of the NOVA bomb's cluster design is to compress the material so much that ALL of it gets burned and converted, and anyone familiar with the actual meaning behind the equation of E=MC2 knows exactly how insane that level of efficiency becomes for destructive potential.

    54:04 Honestly if we mixed the first scenario (The UNSC getting Prep-Time and sneaking around while everyone else is distracted) and the "Make Friends" one then the UNSC would be almost unstoppable if the other factions ignore them too long, even without making friends the UNSC have the potential to be a great power in 40k simply if they keep their heads down, turtle up, and start researching and stealing technology. The other Halo factions start off with far more than the UNSC would but the UNSC can very rapidly start catching up technologically so long as they have time to actually DO that catching up... And even if they don't they will still try their best since that's what they did all throughout the Human-Covenant War.

      Keep in mind if this is post war humanity they auto win thanks to their sensors being able to detect anything in the galaxy this would include dormant tomb worlds, and forge worlds that are either abandoned or lost to the Imperium meaning UNSC just got infinite production capacity after they upgrade everything on that forge world to their fabricators(and yes a UNSC fabricator is better than the imperium equivalent) now stick some dumb AIs to run the place and boom infinite ships, guns, bullets, tanks, and anything one needs, now post war humanities only weakness that being a crippled production capability from losing Reach.
      And honestly except for one or two pieces of Necron tech they are better off continuing their research into ancient human and Forerunner tech so they can curve stomp everyone in 200+ years when they finally emerge from hiding.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 9 місяців тому +16

      Depends on the Spartan as to rather the little part holds up.
      Your average Astartes is 7.6ft tall in armor with some shorter. Captain Titus being an example of a shorter Astartes as he is 7.2ft tall which is the same as Master Chief.
      There are 3 well known Spartans that would be larger on average when in armor. Going with original size backed up by the books canon for them .
      Jorge-052 unarmored 7.4ft tall, armored 8ft tall.
      Kurt-051 unarmored 7.7ft tall, armored 8.2 ft tall.
      Samuel-034 unarmored 7.10 ft tall. Armored 8.4 ft tall. Making him a giant among Spartans.
      So Spartans vary in height from 7ft to 8.4ft tall and in weight with the average being 400 lbs.
      So, not necessarily little siblings.
      Oh and as an impressive kicker. Spartans can still have children. And do pass down some of their genetic modifications to their children.
      Only one Spartan II is known to have retired from active service and have started a family. God Emperor bless the man who saw a female spartan and said yes that Amazonian chick with the scars who could probably rip me in half if I piss her off is the one for me, lol.

      @JiwakuMembanteng-z3b He's one of the very few who place them at 8ft tall. Other sources place them at 7ft .
      The Deathwatch Core has them standing at 2.1 meters tall which is 6ft 10 in tall.
      So the average is 7 to 7.5 ft tall. An average for those of you who failed math is a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data, in particular the mode, median, or (most commonly) the mean, which is calculated by dividing the sum of the values in the set by their number.

    In regards to the AI this is a spoiler for the newest Cawl book
    it is implied that Fredish Qvo (Belisarius Cawls best friend that died) is actually a very advanced ai created by cawl using a "scanned" mapping of the original fredishs brain at his death and reconstructing his intelligence using that scan and "downloading" it into a donor brain in order to "revive" him
    When confronted he literally uses the logic that technically it's still a human brain even if it was artificially created.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 Рік тому +8

      Yep and they already have the ability to mass produce super soldiers to buy them that prep time . I personally think that they would for the most part move a lot of their population and technology to a core region that is easily defensible like Shield World 006 formerly known as Onyx because it's more defensible than their current capital and then become semi fleet based as in the way they interact with the wider universe would be as if they are a fleet based society keeping their capital and general locations of their worlds as unknown to any other faction. Meaning they show up ask the local planetary governor if he needs any help when the planet is being attacked , hammer whatever is attacking the planet with high powered weapons to include weapons developed from the limited amount of Forerunner tech they have then disappear again after being paid likely in either resources or technology that they can then reverse engineer.
      Only really showing the other factions their military forces. Which if the only interactions your faction has with them is through seeing their military consisting of what appear to be 7ft plus tall super humans in power armor carrying strange glowing weapons. Your probably going to assume they are a race of high tech space faring giants. Because you don't know any better.
      Look at descriptions of Viking traders written by the peoples they came in contact with and compare it to what most of the population actually looked like. Same concept.
      “I saw the Rus’, who had come there to trade and settled on the river Atil [Volga]. I have never seen such perfect bodies, they were like palm trees, blond and red light. They have neither jackets nor caftans, but the man wears a suit, which covers one side of the body but leaves a hand free.
      Each one carries with them an ax, a sword and a knife, and these tools they never leave. Their swords are wide, ribbed, of Frankish manufacture.From the nail next to the neck, they are tattooed in green with trees and other images."
      The Rus were Vikings who settled in what is now Russia and Ukraine .
      But as we know most Norse men were around 5ft 7in tall. So why would they be described as being so tall by other peoples they met and traded with ? The answer being that the men sent out on Vikings and for trading with others were the Warriors which were taller and of larger build than the average man.
      The UNSC may do the same with mass producing Spartans out of their military.
      Your average Guardsmen is around 5ft 9in tall and 175 lbs . Your average Spartan in armor is 7ft tall and over 1,000 lbs including the armor or about 400 lbs without the armor on give or take Also without armor on the majority of Spartans are around 6ft 9in tall since the majority would be Spartan IVs . Some of them are as tall as 8ft in armor meaning these soldiers that the average Imperial Guardsmen or average civilian are likely to see are as tall as Astartes are . But generally not as bulky in armor. Due to how their armor is designed.
      So yeah given prep time they would be over powered.

    There are two places I think would be best for the UNSC to show up. One would be in imperium nihilus. It would to the left of Hive fleet Ouroboros, but to the right of the northwest corner of the Halo Stars, than just above Scarus Sector, on the borderline of Segmentum Obscurus and the outer galaxy. They would be out of the hive fleets way and attention for now. They would be also be just out of reach of the mysterious horrors of the Halo Stars like the Scarab devices, the Rak Gol and the rumored remnants of the Rangda that might be living there. They would be on the very edge of imperil influence and boarders, or what's left of it after the Great Rift. They would be close enough to get intel without attracting too much attention to themselves.
    The other place would be the outer edges of the Koronus expanse. From what I have heard, it is left of the eye of terror, right next door to the Calixis Sector. Even before the Great Rift, this sector had a tenuous connection to the rest of the imperium due to being surrounded by warp storms and only having one corridor that connects it to the Calixis sector called "The Maw". It was never fully colonized by the imperium and there are many human civilizations left there that weren't unified by the imperium during the Great Crusade and are still independent, though are just holding on. The Dark Eldar might have a presence there though.... for more information about the Koronus expanse, the templin institute also did a video on it.
    Also, this might be simple and straightforward but I would prefer it if the UNSC just ran a fowl of some god like entity in their universe and the god didn't want to deal with humans any more and transported the entire UNSC and its worlds to the 40k universe. It might be too simple, but the interesting part, at least to me, would not be *how * they got there but what happens *when * they got there. If it were up to me I would like the fanfic to be a trilogy, with the first one taking place over the course of 5 to 10 years, the second one time skips a centaury later, and the third one a millennium later.

      Halo Ghosts of Onyx mentioned the 440 being a heavy artillery piece. Which a Spartan 3 mistook an explosion caused by an Onyx Sentinel for the 440 being fired.
      Basically the Army is the heavy artillery guys of the UNSC assigned to hold ground. Also roughly 60% of Grizzly heavy MBTs are used by the Army.
      For those who might read this and don't know the Grizzly uses 120mm cannons set up with an autoloader system that turns it into a 120mm AA gun from hell used against vehicles and Infantry. Set these tanks in a fortified position and nothing short of orbital bombardment is taking it out.

    If the UNSC could keep quiet for a century, they could employ a version of the "nomadic" route which can be used to explore the galaxy, trade with various worlds, and strike targets while maintaining the secrecy of the UNSC sector.
    They could gather information, tech and all other things like allies/friends, while posing as "nomadic peoples" and none the wiser while being informed of the state of the galaxy. If they could maintain the facade, the UNSC could develop much faster since they don't have to scour for relics or abandoned worlds. They could develop their economy which would mean more resources to grow and develop, especially with rebuilding their space ravaged by the Covenant.
    By 100 years, they would become a true power in the 40K galaxy. Just hope that they took measures against the Ruinous Powers, especially after seeing what happened to the Chaos Marines and their cultists. The Nova Bomb is actually scientific, if not the scale the concept is valid. Basically it unleashes the energy that causes neutron stars to generate their radiation and prevents them from collapsing into a black hole. When a star dies, there are a few types of remnants that can result. A white dwarf means its gravitational force could not overcome the repellant force between its electrons. A neutron star is where the gravity does overcome the force that repels electrons from each other, but does not overcome the force that keeps neutrons from fusing together (there are two nuclear forces, i forget which one this is). A nova bomb hits the equilibrium, and then the compressing force ends and the nuclear force causes the explosion. I probably got something wrong, but they basic idea is right.

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries 9 місяців тому

      I mean the issue here is that the transformation between normal matter to neutron star matter does not generate more energy than it absorbs in its creation. The reason nuclear weapons work is because they specifically draw out energy from specific matter transformation and do so in a way that allows it to be sustained.
      Fission bombs break appart atoms that are naturally energetic, and produce neutrons which can be use to further increase the reaction. Fusion bombs harness the energy of a fission explosion to cause light elements to fuse into heavier elements. The products of the reaction creating a huge amount of excess energy.
      You can in theory keep going down the chain and keep using stronger and stronger stages to fuse heavier and heavier elements until you get to something like iron. Something you can't fuse into a heavier element without an overwhelming amount of energy, and where you aren't going to get a positive return anyway. This puts a hard stop on whatever reaction you had going on, though at this point you have essentially recreated the conditions that are happening in the making of a supernova so you better believe the amount of energy you just unleashed is going to be substantial.

      The UNSC wouldn't give them the latest model but the ones headed for the scrap yard otherwise that are still in working condition just slightly outdated could 100% be sold to the Imperium. But I am not sure they would take the planets in exchange first. Because they don't have the numbers to really settle them. But perhaps Vitae-Womb technology would be a first acquisition for them in trade. Because they need to get those population numbers up.
      They have about 800 worlds and about 100 worlds worth of population due to filthy Xenos invading them and murdering their civilians. While using copies of their ancestral technology.

      That is true in both universes. However the part of UNSC history covered in the games is just 30 years of history of a race that's history goes back millennia's before even the Emperor of Mankind was born. The Ancestors of what is now called the UNSC rose to to preeminence in the Milky Way galaxy by approximately 150,000 BCE. Having first achieved interstellar travel over a million years earlier and colonized planets across the Orion Arm toward the galactic border, humans became a major political and military power rivaling the Forerunners; indeed, the Didact considered them the second greatest military power and the latest challenge to Forerunner influence.
      In case no one explained it before this what the Imperium would designate near human Abhuman race was reset back to the stone ages after their war with the Forerunners and the Flood at the same time. They basically got the WW2 Germany treatment with a war on two fronts. Then the Halo Array got fired sending everyone back to the stone ages after reseeding their population.
      So they are actually ancient as far as their history goes. They once rivaled the Forerunners at one point and got hit by a double sided war and basically got reduced to the stone ages and had to rebuild from there. So yeah the short clip of what we have gotten to see is just a scratch of the surface of their long ass history as a species.

      Oh and the UNSC does actually have the capacity to produce something akin to a Titan if they wanted too. They already produce 9 meters or 29.5 ft tall mechs that operate via a neural link similar to titans. So they have the capacity to produce far better weapons and equipment than they are shown to have in their own universe. Oh and Commissar Cain hitting Master Chief would be a problem. Interestingly enough, the UNSC as a nomadic fleet-based faction would arguably be one of the best factions against the Tyranids. By far the most powerful tool in the Tyranid arsenal is the Shadow in the Warp because of how devastating it is to both communication and effective travel/retreat. The psychic effects on the UNSC soldiers would be no worse than it is for the Imperium, but unlike the Imperium, the UNSC could just choose to bugger off entirely. Slipspace ain't the warp, so the UNSC, could potentially just jump in, throw around a bunch of nukes and MAC blasts, piss off and then come back and do it again.
    Hell, this could be how they ensure their survival in the galaxy. They develop and then leverage their unique ability to fight the Tyranid fleets with minor casualties to either slow down oncoming hive fleets or to disrupt Tyranid planetary assaults. Not many are gonna be stupid enough to turn down a massive fleet that are the only ones who can safely and reliably reinforce a Tyranid-attacked planet.

    You know...I can see a story of a UNSC arriving in 30K. One that arrives, discovers a galaxy of eternal war and eldritch horror, fights like legends reborn into end times to preserve what they hold dear, but ultimately becoming defiant, melancholy wanderers in heir vast city ships and fleets. Horrified at literal hell broken loose, and equally so very disappointed at what humanity has become.
    The Emperor, I think, would only be able to weep as the Ancients picked up what they could save and disappeared into slipspace. He'd blame himself. I think even the Eldar would stand aside.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 2 місяці тому

      Your underestimating the UNSC . Which is likely due to the fact that the games don't actually show what the UNSC is actually capable of . Especially technologically speaking.
      Oh and as to eldritch horror well have you seen the Flood /Precursor. Because the Flood is inspired by Christopher Rowley's The Vang. Which is a horror series. The Precursor form in Halo is directly inspired by the Eddorians in E.E. Smith's Lensmen series, the psychic creatures in John Brunner's THE ATLANTIC ABOMINATION novel and Cthulhu as well as other deities in H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.
      So yeah the Halo universe itself is actually a horror story where the "good guys" have absolutely no problem blowing up planets. Or even nuking their own planets. So they are already in a horror story.
      Also read the Forerunner series of Halo books because the Flood are actually worse than the Tyranids.
      As to the Chaos Gods. Their nothing compared to the Precursor. The UNSC already exist in a universe where the Gods want to consume all life and start all over again.
      Would they be very disappointed in what has become of humanity since they likely went into Cryo status or dormant for 38,000 years for whatever reason. Yeah probably. But they would also probably try to help out where possible.
      Also it's kind of hard to become a defiant , melancholy fleet based civilization when your already there. Now they would need to scale up their ships to be proper size which isn't the sizes the creators of Halo list them as. Which in and of itself make no sense because the scaling is off as in the ships are too small in the lore for them to be functional. So they have to be scaled up because if you scale down the fighters and bombers no one above 3ft tall would be able to fit in them. Here's a video on that subject ... ua-cam.com/video/CH1STi9thUc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared

    I wonder just how serious the buff to the Imperium would be if they took over the UNSC? Just from the new models of weapons they would get access to, as well as whatever they could upgrade from each other’s arsenals. The whole issue with the Spartan 2s is that they need genetically superior humans to handle the training and augments. With the Imperium’s cloning tech, just imagine an unending horde of Kriegers with tech and training that puts them on par with Space Marines. That’s a fighting force that’s too effective, they’ll basically just be upgraded Thunder Warriors that outperform space marines and regular humans to the point that the galaxy is nothing but Spartan Kriegers.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 3 місяці тому

      Thats interesting . But also fun fact given the tech the UNSC has they would already be augmenting all of their troops to the Spartan 4 level which is the newest generation then have to start handing out copied Forerunner tech like it's candy to their troops. I mean imagine IF the UNSC starts using the nomad approach to explore and the galaxy and you have a planet being attacked by say Orkz. The UNSC gets the call and makes a deal with the planetary governor that they will assist for a price and then shortly after the deal is struck a regiment of 7ft tall super humans come down from the sky in power armor welding weapons with an orange glowing barrel and bayonet and you start seeing Orkz getting vaporized by these weapons like the Necrons just showed up. The fear and shock value of that would make them legends to the locals of the sector.
      And almost as quick as they arrived to save your ass they take their payment and leave. This could be in resources or technology or even food if they so choose.
      In any case they don't stick around . Of course these would be the elite veterans not some rookies being dropped in to the fight. But to the average civilian or PDF or even Guardsmen they would look like Astartes in strange armor. And praise of course would go to the God -Emperor that these strangers decided to help. But yeah the UNSC is likely to do several things from the beginning of their time in this shit storm of a universe. At least if the goal is survival.

      Being friendly with a Rogue Trader would be easier than the UNSC military getting past the urge to shoot the Tau in the face. Also the UNSC has the technology they lack numbers. It's a rather simple fix for them . The first is the bandage solution of making Spartan IV augmentations mandatory for all personal for the time being in order to have each of their soldiers equal entire armies of normal troops. Step 2 is breeding like rabbits to get those numbers up and using their technology to create lab grown children as well. Hahaha The Idea that the UNSC is larger than the Tau Empire.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 2 місяці тому +3

      In terms of territory it's larger than the Tau. In terms of population well that depends on what is being taken as canon because different sources say different things.
      In total the UNSC has 800 colonies remember . And the Tau are estimated to have some where between 150 to 300 worlds maximum. So in terms of sheer scale the UNSC is larger than the Tau Empire. So not really a laughing thing when it is a correct statement when considering the UNSC in it's entirety. Not that the fact that they have a whole lot of TLC work to do to restore 78 planets we know of out of the 800 colonies Which depending on the year they are pulling them from could have already been done.
      But I would still say the UNSC population needs to increase massively to actually defend their territory properly. Not that a few billion newly created Spartan IVs wouldn't be useful if they are smart when placed into 40k knowing they have a lack of numbers for the scale of their empire. Everything about the UNSC's survival in 40k depends on them making intelligent decisions with their military and technology available to include the examples of Covenant , Ancient Human and Forerunner technologies they have collected and been reverse engineering with a lot of help from their Huragok aka Engineer pets they picked up along the way.
      Territory doesn't mean much if they can't defend all of it.

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 2 місяці тому +1

      @@nobleman9393 Um no it's not. Despite its relative scale, humanity's empire takes up only a minuscule portion of the Milky Way galaxy itself, all human-colonized systems existing within a bubble of 100 light-years around Sol in contrast to the overall scale of the galaxy which is 100,000 light-years in diameter.
      The Cygnus system is situated more than 93 light years from Earth. It has 3 habitable planets two of which are colonized by humanity. So yeah no the furthest colony isn't 80 light years from UEG earth. This is the furthest named colonies.
      So the furthest is actually 100 Light Years away from Earth. But of course not all UNSC colonies are named in the lore. Just like with the Covenant. It appears that the writers haven't gotten that far yet. Probably because Halo hasn't been around since the late 1980s unlike 40k.
      Also the Tau Empire is composed of over twenty fully-developed septs and around one hundred settled worlds, but the exact number and most of their names are unknown to the Imperium.
      So no they aren't even close to being larger than the UNSC in terms of actual colonies. The fact that the Warp is unreliable at best and can spit them out wherever and if they happen to find a planet that doesn't have a hostile population they like to stick their flag on doesn't mean much. The UNSC has more fully developed colonies than the Tau has.
      The Tau has around 20 sept worlds which are their fully developed worlds . The UNSC has 210 fully developed inner colonies including their home world. And though a number needs some TLC after their last war, 590 outer colonies for a total of 800 though the lore states that they have more than 800 colonies.
      Oh and the UNSC doesn't include every asteroid and moon with a few hundred people as colonies. The Rubble which is what your referring to is actually not a colony. The asteroids that made up the Rubble were first colonized by several groups of humans, primarily insurrectionists, sympathizers, or surviving colonists from the human colony world Madrigal. When the Covenant attacked Madrigal, the planet's rebels and insurrectionists gathered up the colonists and evacuated them with freighters and cargo ships. The insurrectionists brought the refugees to the Lagrangian asteroid cluster trailing Hesiod and the Rubble was established. Most of the refugees accepted insurgent ideologies and lifestyles, since they believed it was because of the insurrectionists that they survived.
      So that's not a colony. Just so you know. Oh and the UNSC had a habit of building military bases in asteroids. Which also doesn't count as colonies. It seems the minimum required population is 10,000 residents to be considered a colony. There are also quite a few worlds the UNSC has that they don't consider colonies that are kept secret from the public records. The primary training for Spartan IVs takes place on a top-secret space station orbiting an unidentified dwarf planet. Which is also kept secret for example.
      And of course there are various UNSC colonies that make Imperial worlds like Savlar look like a vacation. Such as the inner colony located on Titan. Which the UNSC turned into an industral world. Yeah because liquid methane rain and other toxic chemicals plus average temperature of about −179.2 °C or -290.6°F and an atmosphere of 95% nitrogen, 5% Methane with trace amounts of other carbon-rich compounds, creating a dense, hazy atmosphere due to the presence of organic molecules formed from the breakdown of methane by sunlight; essentially, the main components are nitrogen (N2) and methane (CH4).
      Which means they had to bring and produce their own oxygen. So the UNSC has more colonies overall.
      So trying to buff up the Tau which don't even have half the number of colonies as the UNSC. Is kind a nah. The UNSC has more colonies therefore more resources available. It's that simple. Also the Tau do count every single mining colony and asteroid with a few dozen of their population on it as a colony. Only 90 of the Tau's worlds are actually named.
      175 out of 800 UNSC colonies are mentioned by name at this time. All of which are actual worlds or moons with populations of 10,000 plus people. So in sheer freaking number of worlds the UNSC is larger. Now get over that little factor.

      By this standards Tau Orbital habitats also count as colonies, not to mention that the statement about 120 worlds was made during the democles crusade 300 years ago. (Plus Auxilary species)
      "Also the Tau do count every single mining colony and asteroid with a few dozen of their population on it as a colony"

      @@nobleman9393 First thing Sept worlds include the Gai'kal Sept's Prime World which has a population of 5.7 Billion. That's not even close to a Hive world in population. Also the planets with higher populations are former Imperial Hive Worlds. How easy do you think it would be for ONI to insight rebellion in those worlds ?
      Think about it. On top of that Halo's Earth alone had a population of 7.9 Billion at the end of the war. Reach had a population of over 700 million before the war. Harvest had a population of 3 million as an agri world. Sigma Octanus IV 17 million. The planets for which we have populations for are either in the millions or billions.
      Now as an example of an untouched human colony for which we don't have the population given to us which appears in the books .. Gao . Was colonized in 2439 it is now 2560. That is 121 years . We have our time frame . We also know the initial population 10,000 without factoring in any migration after the colony was established. 10,000 over 121 year at lets say a growth rate of 2% per year. We get a population of 11,664,000,000,000 or in words that's eleven trillion six hundred sixty-four billion . Now natural death rate at 0.8 % or 93312000000 deaths per population over time gives a population for untouched UNSC worlds that we don't have numbers in the lore of 1,073,088,000,000 or in words one trillion seventy-three billion eighty-eight million for colonies that have been around 121 years and are untouched by the war. That is at the modern average of 2% growth rate over time and the modern death rate for 1,000 people.
      So yeah the UNSC population is much larger when you do the math than what some people have estimated it at . At least when you use an actual population growth calculator and a percentage calculator and look up the death rate per 1000 people which today is 7.9 per 1000 people which is actually 0.79% of 1000 I rounded up to 0.8 % then used the population calculated by a population calculator links will be below and subtracted the deaths from the population given by the calculator. That's how i came up with the number for Geo's population.
      Now rather or not a decent portion of this population was drafted is unknown so this is the numbers without accounting for the military draft as well. Because we do not know how many total troops were drafted from each planet in the UNSC during the War as neither Bungie or 343 Industries have ever given solid numbers for the military sizes of either side of the war.
      calculator.academy/population-growth-calculator/
      percentagecalculator.net/
      Also it appears that General Black in the Forward unto Dawn short film might have been correct when he said the following quote...
      " The insurrectionists say that the people of one planet owe nothing to the people of another planet. The insurrectionists say the Earth is in the past, and the past is dead. Well, not so long ago, all of humanity lived on a single planet. Hard to imagine isn't it? But try to think of what it must have been like to be a human back then - to know only one world. Each and every one of us here contributes to the health and well-being of a Unified Earth Government. How is that fair? 'Why should I give anything to Earth if I don't even live there?' Well, without us, without the UNSC, colonies starve, planets die. And for what? Now, the insurrectionists, they say they'd rather risk the lives of millions of colonists than do their duty to ensure the continued survival of the trillions of humans spread throughout this galaxy. But not me. No. Me, I say we're all in this together."
      So yeah the UNSC has a massive population pre war and still has a fairly large but relitively spread out population post war. Because as we both know the Covenant didn't get around to wiping out the populations of every single UNSC /UEG world. And were more focused on their religious artifacts than wiping out humanity. We humans were just kind of the irritating hairless apes in their way as far as they were concerned

Notice I said some this includes weapons , tech and some minor vehicles and a ship or two. Not exactly back to their height. But their building back to that point.

They got the WW2 Germany treatment between the Flood at a much higher level than in the games and the Forerunners at their height. So war in heaven basically and they were the technological monkey in the middle. So for a species that got knocked back to caveman twice the second time being the Halo Array activation. And god forbid you give them AI’s let alone John and Cortana. You’re done son, John would be the new emperor while he’s still in his prime. After a century or two. Of direct combat, killing trillions at once like he has, wiping out entire major fleets. Above sector levels, etc. and guess what, he’s a human, lol. So is the USNC. All fully human. No sorry xenos. That said the most dangerous thing on a battlefield is a wounded Spartan in close quarters. Because that thermonuclear bomb powered by a small star that powers his armor will vaporize anything in the general area. And Spartans are psychological prepared to use it. They can also use their armor to compensate for injuries . A Spartan can be hit by plasma fire that manages to penatrate their armor have the muscle in an leg or arm completely burnt through and still keep fighting by adjusting the internal artificial muscles to compensate allowing them to keep moving without using the destroyed muscle. Chief did this when his quadriceps was burnt through by a lucky shot.
      The shooter wasn't so lucky as chief killed it. The book doesn't go into details but it's safe to say chief probably ripped its spine out for the insult.
      But still physically they are comparable.

      If Gulliman can manage it, he might just make a treaty that turns the UNSC into a buffer state against the Tau if possible.
      The UEG government is just as corrupt as the Imperiums governments. So the right amount of money or resources to the right people gets the Imperium a buffer state. They can deal with later. The freedom of religion factor also gives the Imperial Cult a good chance to come in and convert the people.
      Once the Imperium has the people religiously and the politicians in their pocket . The UEG is now Imperial. And the UNSC goes with the politicians.
      A lot of 40k fans forget that while the UNSC is the military and capable of building up enough firepower to deal with whoever tries attacking them.
      The Imperium are humans. Sure the UNSC would likely call them imperials. As a distinction between them and the Imperium. But being human makes infiltrated and cultural exchange between them easier. "The Culexus watched the world through the sapphire eye of the psionic weapon, feeling the pulse and throb of it on the periphery of her thoughts like a coldness in her brain. Humans moved through the arc of fire and she tracked them. Each of them would register her attention without really knowing it; they would shiver involuntarily and draw their sandcloaks tighter, quickening their step to reach warmth and light and safety a little faster. They sensed her without sensing her, the ominous, ever-present shadow of null she cast falling on them. Children, when she turned her hard, glittering gaze in their direction, would begin to cry and not know the reason. When she passed close to tents full of sleeping figures, she could hear them mutter and moan under their breath; she passed over their dreams like a windborne storm cloud, darkening the skies of their subconscious for a moment before sliding beyond the horizon.
      Iota’s pariah soul - or lack thereof - made people turn away from her, made them avert their eyes from the shadowed corners where she moved. It was a boon for her stealth, and with it she entered the sanctuary encampment without raising an alarm." - Nemesis

    Call me a nut but I don't think the Banished have parity with the Covenant here.
    They'd probably either get crushed pretty quick or have a similar fate to humanity, relegated to being nomadic. Or maybe their message can spread across the galaxy to all of the other empires

    40:12 is exactly why the UNSC hate Xeno's . And would rather they not exist . Getting past the Tau themselves being blue humanoid Xeno's is one thing. The other Tau empire species would do well to avoid being within 300 meters of the nearest UNSC Marine , Army Soldier ,ODST or the nearest Spartan. Because all of those personnel are trigger happy and just waiting for any excuse to shoot them.
    They might tolerate the Tau. For the time being.

      @@nobleman9393 Humans with railguns sniper rifles with an effective range of 4.9 miles and the capability to pierce armored vehicle's, tanks , buildings , etc and still turn a Tau Fire Caste Warrior into a splatter of blood and meaty bits.
      Also these humans they are meeting are 7ft tall in power armor with a energy shielding system, active camouflage etc for the attachments to the armor.
      And can run up to 60 plus mph , punch hard enough to destroy titanium armored plating and are capable of flipping a 66 metric tons tank while wearing this armor.
      Because ONI and the UNSC are not likely to be dumb enough to not augment even standard Marines with the same augmentations as Spartan IVs given the factor of their numerical disadvantage compared to most factions.
      So picture a Tau Fire Caste Warrior looking at a Spartan in armor because much like with other societies such as the Vikings first contact is likely to be with the military which as per usual are generally larger and stronger than your average civilian. The fact the UNSC has the technology to augment their entire military and produce MJOLNIR Gen 3 Armor.
      Your average Tau is not going to know anything but these people are giants in power armor with a decent level of technology. Not necessarily that much better but decent none the less.
      That's something you keep failling to remember. The Tau isn't meeting the Civilians in first contact. Their meeting the military. And even when the leadership get to meet civilian leadership the military is going to be surrounding them and ready to kill everyone that isn't human in the room at the drop of a hat. These military personnel likely being actual Spartans not the augmented Marines. Not that they would know the difference. Since the difference becomes the extra training. Kind of what's the difference between an Infantryman and a Green Beret .

      @@John2r1 And how is this any different from what they see, meet and fight normally?

    • @John2r1
      @John2r1 11 місяців тому

      @@nobleman9393 It's not really that different except in sheer numbers of superhuman soldiers. The Imperium has roughly a million Space Marines. If the UNSC/ ONI does the smart thing and augments their military presonnel with the augmentations of Spartan IVs then the Tau are looking at something along the lines of 2 to 4.5 Billion superhuman soldiers at present levels of estimated population for the UNSC.
      Second with regards to the Spartans guarding important leaders you do recall the fact that the UNSC/ONI have spent years looting Forerunner technogies and reverse engineering it. The Spartans would be the ones with the glowing weapons that fire hardlight encased antimatter. Though yes the most common weapons of the Marines and Army is the MA5 series of assault rifle , M395 DMR , BR85 battle rifle , M45 shotgun and M20 SMGs. What they have in common is that all of them accept Kentic Bolt attachments.
      The augmentations gives them the capablility to use weapons such as the ARC-920 railguns, Hydra MLRS systems basically a proto bolter, and the ability to use turrets taken off their mounts to including M68 Gauss cannons or the newer M70 Gauss cannons like they are heavy squad weapons.
      Because there's nothing like a giant man or women in power armor with a 25x130mm coilgun capable of firing rounds at around Mach 40 to say don't screw with them.
      The obviouse objective of the use of augmented super soldiers is intimidation as the Tau don't know how many of these super humans they have.
      Oh and IF ONI were to be so nice to give up some of their toys to be produced by anyone outside of ONI they could be armed with hard sound rifles. Which have a respectable effective range of 915 meters or 1,000 yards and doesn't care what armor your wearing it's a one hit kill via obliterating internal organs. This would actually be the impressive part aside from personal energy shields and deployable hardlight shields among other tech used by the UNSC.
      Most of the Marines aren't going to be much more than a hmm they're very large and strong and decently armed . The Spartans are the wtf is that glowing weapon thingy.
      So while the UNSC intends to project strength which they would given the number of super humans they would have. The Tau would be more interested than intimidated until the Spartans actually show up then well when you have a unit of 7 to 8ft tall super humans with helmets that have a skull etched into it carrying large knives and weapons that can disintegrate an Ork or a Tyranid . You obviously don't want to pick that fight.
      Note how I gave the Spartans the Forerunner small arms . Because they are trained with them as part of that extra training they go through. Marines aren't Spartans regardless of their augmentations and use of power armor.

      @@John2r1 After decades the UNSC still only has hundreds of Spartans, while 1500 were made in total, so any reason to believe they can just make billions of them whenever they feel like it?
      (And since the UEG fell apart, it doesn't seem like they will be making any new Spartans)
      The Tau have mass produced Ion Rifles and hand held railguns.
      Pretty sure the Hard sound rifle is useless against targets who have even basic armor, hence why it was used only in assasinations of politicians and civilians and never on a battlefield.(Btw fire warriors do have deployable shields and those aren't relics, they just make them in their factories)
      They pick fights with Astartes, they sometimes lose, but also sometimes win.
