10 years for shields seems long until you learn that it wasn't just 10 years to copy it. It was 10 years to make a stronger and better version of it that covered and moved with a spartan, instead of being a handheld shield
It's frankly INSANELY fast for a group that was consistently and constantly losing since the war started but OH BOY did they work quick.
@@kabob0077 Imagine the size of the coffee machines at the research and development centers. You know those scientists had few to no early nights, or sleep-in mornings while working on that project.
@@Joannes808 They must have worked like Bungie crunched Halo 2 but for YEARS on end.
@@Joannes808 They got 8 hours to sleep, shower and whatnot. They also got an hour for lunch.
ONI section 3 where the ones in charge and Dr. Halsey was the one overseeing the project. Dr. Halsey is basically a female version of Belisarius Cawl in terms of obsession with developing technology.
Big Brain time
Much as people might hate them, the Office of Naval Intelligence would be the UNSC's saving grace here. A lot of the dumber things they did mostly happened well after the end of the Covenant War, and that was because they lost their focus. They became the personal cudgel of Parangosky who was far more concerned with maintaining personal power and using it to enforce her political agenda and how she believed humanity should be ruled than actually pursuing the mandate of her office. They lost their checks and balances same as Palpatine did in Star Wars during the Clone Wars, and for the same reasons. Difference being that Palpatine was effective because he was playing 4D chess against himself. ONI was effective because they were damned good at their jobs and didn't much care about what moral boundaries they might have to cross in the name of ensuring humanity's survival in a war they were destined to lose.
In almost all of these scenarios? Asymmetric and information warfare is your only path to survival and ONI excels at it. Section 3 was one of the only truly effective tools in the UNSC's arsenal when fighting the Covenant because of how flexible and discreet they were, and how very, very good they were at executing precision strikes, often behind enemy lines without their opponents ever being aware they were there. Similarly, smart AI is going to be a game changer in both cyberwarfare and in research applications. It wasn't because Forerunner tech was designed to work for humans that made AI useful for them. That function only mattered when flesh and blood humans interacted with the technology because it was locked to their Geas or genesong, no such luck with that for AI. Their computational abilities were just that good, to the point of being able to actually burn a few months or years off their life cycle to brute force translate the Covenant language from next to nothing.
Also, NOVA bombs, actually very realistic. Most nuclear weapons are hilariously inefficient, only converting a very small percentage of their fissile material into energy while the rest of it gets vaporized and becomes nuclear fallout. Whole point of the NOVA bomb's cluster design is to compress the material so much that ALL of it gets burned and converted, and anyone familiar with the actual meaning behind the equation of E=MC2 knows exactly how insane that level of efficiency becomes for destructive potential.
ONI Post War may be cartoonishly evil and stupid but ONI during the war was an absolute BEAST of an agency.
@@kabob0077 Blame the writers for that, because after 343 it feels like all things went to hell.
Like seriously what was Hood doing while not making sure Paragonsky had a leash on her
@@kabob0077 Honesty I dont truly like what 343 did with ONI post war. Sure they commint many sins but also they are important reasoucefull to UNSC but 343 its just want create Halo like marvel studios and disney star wars.

@@marseldagistani1989 Bruh, have you seen what the CIA had become after WW2? It's realistic for ONI to become really, really, power hungry. That's not even a problem, if 343 are to blame - quite the opposite.
16:29 - I beg to differ, he and Cain would team up through a series of bizarre coincidences.
Plausible, they're both too Lucky to have anything bad happen to them...
Cain is one of the guys in the imperium that would willingly work with them
UNSC finds a intact STC with ai would probably be a menace
And since they are technically old humanity it would probably work with them
Response: even a partly intact STC would make them a real menace for the 40k galaxy because the UNSC have Engineers, which are aliens that the Forerunners created to repair and improve every piece of technology they come across.
@@Azorees-oj5zr true. Hell even UNSC just finding the Votann would be a boon if they can talk their way into being allowed to try fixing one
@@Azorees-oj5zrif the UNSC appear during Gullimans return then they're in a shit position, mostly because the galaxy is slowly descending into madness. Upsize is gulliman is gonna love the UNSC because it'll be easier to deal with them rather than insane bureaucracy that is the Imperium.
@@covid6942he would probably make some under the table deal with the unsc like "hey, you seem like calm and reasonable people, you help me and I can ("lose") some equipment and tech
@@thelordofthelostbraincells probably and he'll most likely try to take a position in command of the UNSC to make sure the Imperium doesn't blow them up and because he's a goddamn military genius with an intelligence that can surpass smart AIs and keen logistical acumen. Human Covenant War wouldn't end well if UNSC is led by hyper-competent commanders. The UNSC would do well under his guidance, probably get as close as he can to DAOT humanity that won't work with the Imperium for obvious reasons.
The UNSC would actually have a tech tree unlike most of 40k. The main exception is the tau.
Edit: The sheer amount of potential battlefields to pillage for tech would become an absolute dream for the UNSC.
The UNSC would have a field day with the tech to reverse engineer.
@@Davidofthelost response: considering that the UNSC also have a few dozen Engineers, Imperial tech minus Psychic tech of course, would be putty in their hands.
@@Azorees-oj5zrI’m sure that wouldn’t stop O.N.I. From attempting to understand why Psykers are made and how to create that effect inside special operatives.
@@Davidofthelost response: I never said it’d stop them, just that it would be the most difficult to reverse engineer.
@Azorees-oj5zr They also have a limited amount of Forerunner Tech from the start. Mostly small arms Tech but also attachments reverse engineered from Forerunner tech for both weapons and power armor.
And the ability to mass produce Spartans. Which if their smart will be the first thing they will do.
The funny part is 40k probably has a UNSC faction of humanity in it. Remember there are still pockets of humanity out in dark space and it seems every time the imperium comes upon one they are either still using tech from the golden age of humanity or even better tech. So if the creators ever decide they could actually throw in a faction of humanity who can rival the imperium with their tech.
They did they’re called the interex
My dream a human empire just as willing to fight as the imperium but are much more defensive than imperium
@@Al3xandr35 response: the Imperium is nothing but defensive though, in its early history yes it was aggressive but those days are over.
@@Azorees-oj5zr Defensive as a policy because as defensive as the 40k imperium is it can still afford crusades like oprah

Hey, quick reminder that the UNSC uses 7.62 and not 5.56.
Want y’all to know that the UNSC use 7.62 rounds and not 5.56 rounds.
Hey guys, did you learn the UNSC uses 7.62 rounds not 5.56.
Just to let you guys know, the UNSC uses the 7.62x51 round and not 7.62x39.
wow i never would have guessed the UNSC uses 7.62 and not 5.56 rounds.
Can confirm, the Tau water caste and UNSC have been having great success with their joint propaganda.
Oni makes Inquisition look friendly in comparison and they have their own exterminatus😂
Yes I can confirm, if the ONI have the same number of resources like the Inquisition will use the exeterminatus more often than Inquisition. Specially with Tyrannids.

@@jager2749 Humanity has been losing that war for 30 years and the populist didn't find out about it till like 5 years near the end 50/50 space battle engagements and no civilians would have found out about the war
54:04 Honestly if we mixed the first scenario (The UNSC getting Prep-Time and sneaking around while everyone else is distracted) and the "Make Friends" one then the UNSC would be almost unstoppable if the other factions ignore them too long, even without making friends the UNSC have the potential to be a great power in 40k simply if they keep their heads down, turtle up, and start researching and stealing technology. The other Halo factions start off with far more than the UNSC would but the UNSC can very rapidly start catching up technologically so long as they have time to actually DO that catching up... And even if they don't they will still try their best since that's what they did all throughout the Human-Covenant War.
Keep in mind if this is post war humanity they auto win thanks to their sensors being able to detect anything in the galaxy this would include dormant tomb worlds, and forge worlds that are either abandoned or lost to the Imperium meaning UNSC just got infinite production capacity after they upgrade everything on that forge world to their fabricators(and yes a UNSC fabricator is better than the imperium equivalent) now stick some dumb AIs to run the place and boom infinite ships, guns, bullets, tanks, and anything one needs, now post war humanities only weakness that being a crippled production capability from losing Reach.
And honestly except for one or two pieces of Necron tech they are better off continuing their research into ancient human and Forerunner tech so they can curve stomp everyone in 200+ years when they finally emerge from hiding.
16:24 No no no, see the insane amounts of Luck from them existing on the same ship, planet, space station, or whatever would create a rip in the fabric of reality and send them into completely separate universes because such Luck cannot exist in one spot.
Bad news is the Chief and Cain are both gone, good news is that they're still alive and okay because they were practically born with Plot Armor welded to them.
they are armed and armoured with plot armour
Commissar n the Chief
@@jasonml3508 They have enough Plot Armor we could build two separate Battleships out of it, hell there may be enough of it left for a Large Cruiser or a Battlecruiser!
The unsc could make a bolter from a spent casing, they don't even need an intact round.
The UNSC has micro missile launchers that do the same job and are self guided to the target. Capable of either piercing the target then exploding or exploding in the air. Depending on the target.
52:11 Dear GOD is he thirsty, damn even Slaanesh is stunned by what he just said.
Honestly i think the Astartes would see Spartans as their little siblings.
Depends on the Spartan as to rather the little part holds up.
Your average Astartes is 7.6ft tall in armor with some shorter. Captain Titus being an example of a shorter Astartes as he is 7.2ft tall which is the same as Master Chief.
There are 3 well known Spartans that would be larger on average when in armor. Going with original size backed up by the books canon for them .
Jorge-052 unarmored 7.4ft tall, armored 8ft tall.
Kurt-051 unarmored 7.7ft tall, armored 8.2 ft tall.
Samuel-034 unarmored 7.10 ft tall. Armored 8.4 ft tall. Making him a giant among Spartans.
So Spartans vary in height from 7ft to 8.4ft tall and in weight with the average being 400 lbs.
So, not necessarily little siblings.
Oh and as an impressive kicker. Spartans can still have children. And do pass down some of their genetic modifications to their children.
Only one Spartan II is known to have retired from active service and have started a family. God Emperor bless the man who saw a female spartan and said yes that Amazonian chick with the scars who could probably rip me in half if I piss her off is the one for me, lol.
@@John2r1
The average height of a space marine is 8 feet It was written by dan abnet.
While the tallest space marine is the 12 feet Tyberion.
And yeah Titus is pretty short for a space marine.
@JiwakuMembanteng-z3b He's one of the very few who place them at 8ft tall. Other sources place them at 7ft .
The Deathwatch Core has them standing at 2.1 meters tall which is 6ft 10 in tall.
So the average is 7 to 7.5 ft tall. An average for those of you who failed math is a number expressing the central or typical value in a set of data, in particular the mode, median, or (most commonly) the mean, which is calculated by dividing the sum of the values in the set by their number.
Seriously you should read other books by other authors before going with the ones with a fetishist for gigantism.
The space marines's faces of horror when the goddamn sun manifests over Craige
The UNSC is unlikely to poke the Imperium. Because it would serve no real purpose.
They are more likely to go Cole Protocol and use their stealth tech more often than not.
I'd like to point out that the UNSC could also theoretically mass produce the same Power Armor from The Prototype because yes that IS canon and so is the Mark I [J] from Halo Wars... Actually every unit from that game is canon, just not some of the DLC Leaders/Heroes (Like Johnson, Forge, or Ripa {The Absolute Unit of an Arbiter, man's was literally the size of most Brutes.}) because they tend to be dead.
In regards to the AI this is a spoiler for the newest Cawl book
it is implied that Fredish Qvo (Belisarius Cawls best friend that died) is actually a very advanced ai created by cawl using a "scanned" mapping of the original fredishs brain at his death and reconstructing his intelligence using that scan and "downloading" it into a donor brain in order to "revive" him
When confronted he literally uses the logic that technically it's still a human brain even if it was artificially created.
So I could totally see someone like Cawl (And anyone like him) embracing the unsc ais by using those arguments because he kinda (to a lesser extent) has already had to make them for his own stuff.
Huh, neat.
So it's not an AI, if he uploaded his memories into a clone of him.
31:47 They'd also probably make some Inquisitors very, VERY concerned if found.
The UNSC becoming nomadic would be such a good story idea. As for the Chaos issue, I think the UNSC would be fine for a while. Reason being is that the humans of the UNSC would be fundamentally different due to being from an entirely different universe with its own set of rules. At best they'd be similar to the Tau when it comes to Warp presence.
@justvibing4796 Imagine a UNSC Marine with that level of shaddow in the Warp who has been given Spartan 4 augmentations , training, armor and weapons with Forerunner tech attachments to their weapons and armor.
Your average Guardsmen would shit bricks upon seeing Spartans on a battlefield. And then recompose himself when the Spartans start eradicating the Xenos.
UNSC people would case new gods be formed since we already have like 12 different religions on earth, and then it breaks down into the subgroup of the original now add that to all the planets the UNSC had before the human-covenant war and add it to 40k
@@nathanevans3506 They technically still have 800 planets. 76 of which are known to have been glassed and need Teraforming in order to be habitable again. They also have personal stationed near or on the Halos and own at least one shield world.
But yeah at some point they will create minor gods in the Warp.
@goblo023 Your average Guardsmen is 5ft 9in , 175 lbs. Your average Spartan IV in armor is 7ft tall and over 1,000 lbs yet moves with superhuman speed and agility.
Your average Guardsmen has never seen a Space Marine outside of recruitment posters or some shit. Seeing something that is 7ft tall , heavily armored and moving in excess of 60 mph. Would be enough to harbor feelings of awe and fear in your common Guardsmen.
Even without accounting for the Null of the Warp factor.
In Halo Spartans are described as blurs of motion in battle to outside non Spartan observers.
So much the same feelings as seeing a Space Marine or a Sister of Battle in combat.
As to Master Chief . Dude has plot armor thicker than a Titans armor plating. So yeah he could probably beat your average no name Space Marine. But it does get more difficult the higher up the rank structure you go.
Oh and yes the right weapons and equipment would be an obvious requirement to win.
As to the Bolter well the standard bolter rounds are .75cal or 19.04mm rocket propelled armor piercing high explosive rounds.
The UNSC has their own version it's called the Hydra MLRS rifle. And is pretty much standard issue to the Spartan Branch.
Oh and Spartans will never give a Space Marine a fair fight. They didn't kill Brutes and Hunters by fighting fair and their sure as hell aren't going to start now.
@@John2r1 response: yeah the Spartans would tell the Astartes that they can stick their honour and glory up their arses, their there to win.
Query: also do you remember that time Chief slapped a missile away from himself?
The thing is when putting either Star Wars or Halo (human factions) against 40k is 40k would beat them, BUT if SW and Halo could last long enough they could equal or surpass 40k due to the INSANE rate they develop tech when under pressure.

I can see the unsc joining the imperuim the slip space drive would be invaluable to the imperuim it would give mankind far safer , faster and better ftl travel and the emperors dream of starving chaos by reducing mankind’s reliance on the warp comes true
Response: the only problem with that is the Navigator houses and the Telepathica would be up in arms over it because it would take away all of their power.
As a Halo fan. Slipspace is safer and with more advantages then warp. Yes. Faster? Not immediatley it would take a couple decades (at least) to become faster. If the Imperium lets UNSC scientists continue advancing technology that is.
@@whitetoast8096 response: even if it’s slower, it’d still be better due to being able to allow for better communication between planets, you’ll actually know WHEN you’ll arrive at your destination (which will give Imperial commanders a massive advantage when planing a campaign) and as you said it’s safer by miles.
Really the only issues come from the logistics of retrofitting every ship, how the Mechanicus will potentially react to it, the Navigator Houses and the Astropathica.
@@Azorees-oj5zr Navigator houses and the Telepathica should be applied in a different way, however when a ship has two different technologies to be used in different situations it will be an advantage, maybe only for a few ships, but the advantage will be adaptability.

On UNSC replicating Imperium tech. I have no doubt the UNSC can replicate Imperium stuff to the level the Imperium uses it, perhaps even a little more than that with ease.
However a lot of the stuff the Imperium uses has function far beyond what they make of it because it's DaoT tech and understanding and accessing that level of stuff would likely take much more time from the UNSC, while probably still being within the realm of possibility.
Response: the Engineers they have would make things considerably easier as well, give them a decade and they will know the Imperium’s technology better than the Imperium and Mechanicus do.
@@Azorees-oj5zr The Forerunner small arms they have and small number of vehicles they have would make things alot easier.
The fact that they can now mass produce Spartans also helps.
I honestly don't see the UNSC continuing using slightly augmented humans in 40k for anything more than as a weeding out process for who's going to on to Spartan school for special forces training. All of which would get augmented. But Spartan school is like Delta Force selection.
I think a faction I would like to see in Warhammer 40k would be a force like the Aeternum from Stellaris Gigastructures. These guys are a fallen empire with a entire Birch world of 16 quintillion in population and several systems with megastructures and fleets of attack moons.
Query: you do remember that the last time the Imperium fought a faction with attack moons, they very nearly lost right?
@@Azorees-oj5zr
I am aware of the Beast Orks. The Aeternum can be weakened possibly and besides the current 42nd Millennium there are so many enemies and the Great Rift and new Tyranid tendrils coming through with their own moon sized bioforms not too far away now I think a group like the Aeternum would be more busy with them then the 42nd Millennium Imperium. Another thing is that Aeternum infrastructure can be weakened in the Stellaris Gigastructural Engineering mod when they are gearing up for war you can weaken their mass industry to make their bulid up of fleets weaker over the years.

Honestly, if Bobby G was calling the diplomatic shots, I'd be willing to bet he'd turn on every last bit of primarch charm to convince the UNSC to join up willingly. Man's not stupid, he knows what they could bring to the table.
I honestly think G-Man would rather just be allies as if they are absorbed into the imperium their innovation would be crippled along with their AI tech, so the imperium would lose the best parts of the UNSC that being the fact they can produce Forerunner tech and forerunner level tech of their own albite in small quantities(IE Eternity, Personal slipspace tech, Gen 3 Mjolnir, and their small production of Promethian weapons) so G-Man will just give them a few empty Forge worlds and all the resources he can spare so they can produce him tons of tech that makes Necron tech look like a stone axe
Doctor halsey would love to get her hands/hand on a space marine gene seeds to improve her Spartan
15:39 To be an Unggoy is to know only suffering.
Honestly, the UNSC is overpowered with prep time. Their ideologies and scientists are objectively better than anything you can find in the Imperium.
Yep and they already have the ability to mass produce super soldiers to buy them that prep time . I personally think that they would for the most part move a lot of their population and technology to a core region that is easily defensible like Shield World 006 formerly known as Onyx because it's more defensible than their current capital and then become semi fleet based as in the way they interact with the wider universe would be as if they are a fleet based society keeping their capital and general locations of their worlds as unknown to any other faction. Meaning they show up ask the local planetary governor if he needs any help when the planet is being attacked , hammer whatever is attacking the planet with high powered weapons to include weapons developed from the limited amount of Forerunner tech they have then disappear again after being paid likely in either resources or technology that they can then reverse engineer.
Only really showing the other factions their military forces. Which if the only interactions your faction has with them is through seeing their military consisting of what appear to be 7ft plus tall super humans in power armor carrying strange glowing weapons. Your probably going to assume they are a race of high tech space faring giants. Because you don't know any better.
Look at descriptions of Viking traders written by the peoples they came in contact with and compare it to what most of the population actually looked like. Same concept.
“I saw the Rus’, who had come there to trade and settled on the river Atil [Volga]. I have never seen such perfect bodies, they were like palm trees, blond and red light. They have neither jackets nor caftans, but the man wears a suit, which covers one side of the body but leaves a hand free.
Each one carries with them an ax, a sword and a knife, and these tools they never leave. Their swords are wide, ribbed, of Frankish manufacture. From the nail next to the neck, they are tattooed in green with trees and other images."
The Rus were Vikings who settled in what is now Russia and Ukraine .
But as we know most Norse men were around 5ft 7in tall. So why would they be described as being so tall by other peoples they met and traded with ? The answer being that the men sent out on Vikings and for trading with others were the Warriors which were taller and of larger build than the average man.
The UNSC may do the same with mass producing Spartans out of their military.
Your average Guardsmen is around 5ft 9in tall and 175 lbs . Your average Spartan in armor is 7ft tall and over 1,000 lbs including the armor or about 400 lbs without the armor on give or take Also without armor on the majority of Spartans are around 6ft 9in tall since the majority would be Spartan IVs . Some of them are as tall as 8ft in armor meaning these soldiers that the average Imperial Guardsmen or average civilian are likely to see are as tall as Astartes are . But generally not as bulky in armor. Due to how their armor is designed.
So yeah given prep time they would be over powered.
34:59 It'd be a BITCH to set up the machining and designing the equipment to manufacture it but yeah they really could, might have to do some tweaking with powder loads because of what's available until they can recreate that but it is feasible. The Gunsmiths of the 19 and 20th centuries were built different, just look at Saint John Moses Browning and how many guns he's made.
ciaphas cain plotarmor vs master chief plotarmor now that is a battle of legend
nah, Cato Sicarius its more better counterpart to Master Chief
The unsc dont need the warp to jump around. And new forunner inspired drives in there ships let them do upwords of 1000+ lightyears a day.
UNSC warship should have the advantage against the Is imperium warship since the UNSC ships have way longer range and don't need thousands of soldiers to reload their guns and don't need to pray to a machine Spirit. The UNSC can not afford to fight conventional battles they have to fight like the Tua and dark Eldar, fight from range, and use hit and run tactics. For ground battles, the UNSC has to keep the enemy from securing a larger beach head and keep the enemy under fire at all times, forcing them to charger into fixed fighting position before they can get a proper plan together to kick ur ass
Slipspace is also an advantage that UNSC has, the engineers would also be extremely helpful.
Nova cannons fire across stars gravity wells what are you even on about? Torpedoes also match UNSC long range munitions. And the Imperium has excellent shields.
@@Dan-bq1dzbut Nova Cannons are rare, unlike MAC guns which are on almost every ship in the UNSC, bar some smaller destroyer class ships. Also as I’ve learned myself, Imperial Torpedoes are powerful, but they are very easy to dodge, unless fired at point blank range
There are two places I think would be best for the UNSC to show up. One would be in imperium nihilus. It would to the left of Hive fleet Ouroboros, but to the right of the northwest corner of the Halo Stars, than just above Scarus Sector, on the borderline of Segmentum Obscurus and the outer galaxy. They would be out of the hive fleets way and attention for now. They would be also be just out of reach of the mysterious horrors of the Halo Stars like the Scarab devices, the Rak Gol and the rumored remnants of the Rangda that might be living there. They would be on the very edge of imperil influence and boarders, or what's left of it after the Great Rift. They would be close enough to get intel without attracting too much attention to themselves.
The other place would be the outer edges of the Koronus expanse. From what I have heard, it is left of the eye of terror, right next door to the Calixis Sector. Even before the Great Rift, this sector had a tenuous connection to the rest of the imperium due to being surrounded by warp storms and only having one corridor that connects it to the Calixis sector called "The Maw". It was never fully colonized by the imperium and there are many human civilizations left there that weren't unified by the imperium during the Great Crusade and are still independent, though are just holding on. The Dark Eldar might have a presence there though.... for more information about the Koronus expanse, the templin institute also did a video on it.
Also, this might be simple and straightforward but I would prefer it if the UNSC just ran a fowl of some god like entity in their universe and the god didn't want to deal with humans any more and transported the entire UNSC and its worlds to the 40k universe. It might be too simple, but the interesting part, at least to me, would not be *how * they got there but what happens *when * they got there. If it were up to me I would like the fanfic to be a trilogy, with the first one taking place over the course of 5 to 10 years, the second one time skips a centaury later, and the third one a millennium later.
If you look at the casualty rates then yeah the UNSC won most of the ground battles then you realize they got orbitally bombarded. And also the Covenant had way more troops.
Oh and there are only two ship classes in the UNSC that carry Super MACs. The two Infinity class supercarriers and the whatever number of Punic-class supercarriers they have produced since 2490.
The UNSC navy ships have shielding now. Mostly retrofitted but still it adds a bit of staying power. Like Void Shields do.
Yeah, the UNSC lost ground battles because they couldn't keep Space Supremacy but the fact that they can fight the Covenant so well on the ground is amazing. Shame that it didn't really matter much because the Covenant just glass everything not Forerunner.
The UNSC did have the Artemis class battle-cruiser which was made to hunt down bigger covenant warships.
@@misplacedodst True , it was effectively the sniper of the UNSC fleet, the Artemis sports the longest range MAC in the entire roster, and when used in groups can effectively engage almost any Covenant vessel with ease. However its lightly armored as a battlecruiser class.
Bur yeah when you can hit your target before they can hit you that's not going to matter much.
@kabob0077 Exactly. The UNSC Army are among the best ground holding forces especially when they are on the defensive with fortifications , autocannons and heavy artillery support. Which doesn't really show up all that often in game.
Halo Ghosts of Onyx mentioned the 440 being a heavy artillery piece. Which a Spartan 3 mistook an explosion caused by an Onyx Sentinel for the 440 being fired.
Basically the Army is the heavy artillery guys of the UNSC assigned to hold ground. Also roughly 60% of Grizzly heavy MBTs are used by the Army.
For those who might read this and don't know the Grizzly uses 120mm cannons set up with an autoloader system that turns it into a 120mm AA gun from hell used against vehicles and Infantry. Set these tanks in a fortified position and nothing short of orbital bombardment is taking it out.
But the Navy didn't hold as well so orbital bombardment screwed them .
@@John2r1 Since Halo Wars 2 units are Canon it also can mount two machineguns and several missile launchers for even more firepower, it truly is the Mammoth Tank or RA1 and 2 Apocalypse Tank equivalent of the UNSC. But I can't help but wish they got the Tib Wars and Kane's Wrath treatment and got the option to mount railguns or some mini-MACs, really would make them all the worse to deal with. Also, the Covenant's mainline tank is literally a mortar carriage so it's not like the UNSC has a proper enemy MBT to deal with.
Also, there's the various Scorpion variants (Oh hey, Sun Devil, didn't know you were supposed to be in Halo 2 at one point, nice to see you.), the Cobra (remember my Grizzly upgrade idea? It's possible), and some other vehicles that are pretty cool like the Rhino which honestly I think could have had a chance at entering production either post-war or throughout the war. Problem with the latter time of it being in production would mean it's the UNSC's King Tiger. Because it'd probably be rare to really see one.

They might even have an uneasy alliance with some eldar exodites or even some orks. They would be effective mercenaries for planetary governers who need some added muscle or be used to take out a political rival. If the UNSC could keep quiet for a century, they could employ a version of the "nomadic" route which can be used to explore the galaxy, trade with various worlds, and strike targets while maintaining the secrecy of the UNSC sector.
They could gather information, tech and all other things like allies/friends, while posing as "nomadic peoples" and none the wiser while being informed of the state of the galaxy. If they could maintain the facade, the UNSC could develop much faster since they don't have to scour for relics or abandoned worlds. They could develop their economy which would mean more resources to grow and develop, especially with rebuilding their space ravaged by the Covenant.
By 100 years, they would become a true power in the 40K galaxy. Just hope that they took measures against the Ruinous Powers, especially after seeing what happened to the Chaos Marines and their cultists. Other than that, the Tau, specifically the Ethereals, would have no choice but to approach the UNSC on equal terms, and the Imperium would have to contend with worlds wanting to join the UNSC.
Between the creation and use of Spartans and their stealth ships and the Cole Protocol they could keep their numbers and worlds unknown for a really long time.
The Gauss Cannon in Halo, Realistically. Would punch right through Wraths, Phantoms, and a lot of other stuff the Covenant had.
So if they massproduced it here in the 40k Universe, battles would be interesting
The Gauss Cannon is a 25x130mm coilgun firing at Mach 39.9. There isn't much anyone has that's going to stop a chunk of Tungsten going that fast.

The Nova Bomb is actually scientific, if not the scale the concept is valid. Basically it unleashes the energy that causes neutron stars to generate their radiation and prevents them from collapsing into a black hole. When a star dies, there are a few types of remnants that can result. A white dwarf means its gravitational force could not overcome the repellant force between its electrons. A neutron star is where the gravity does overcome the force that repels electrons from each other, but does not overcome the force that keeps neutrons from fusing together (there are two nuclear forces, i forget which one this is). A nova bomb hits the equilibrium, and then the compressing force ends and the nuclear force causes the explosion. I probably got something wrong, but they basic idea is right.
I mean the issue here is that the transformation between normal matter to neutron star matter does not generate more energy than it absorbs in its creation. The reason nuclear weapons work is because they specifically draw out energy from specific matter transformation and do so in a way that allows it to be sustained.
Fission bombs break appart atoms that are naturally energetic, and produce neutrons which can be use to further increase the reaction. Fusion bombs harness the energy of a fission explosion to cause light elements to fuse into heavier elements. The products of the reaction creating a huge amount of excess energy.
You can in theory keep going down the chain and keep using stronger and stronger stages to fuse heavier and heavier elements until you get to something like iron. Something you can't fuse into a heavier element without an overwhelming amount of energy, and where you aren't going to get a positive return anyway. This puts a hard stop on whatever reaction you had going on, though at this point you have essentially recreated the conditions that are happening in the making of a supernova so you better believe the amount of energy you just unleashed is going to be substantial.
20:11 fair point
I care about your opinion, so much so I am asking for a video comparing space marines to Spartans to show it’s not a curb stomp victory for the space marines
For anyone curious about the orbital mac rounds. The would have a yeild of 47801.147228 megatons of tnt, the tsar bomba (largest nuclear device detonated) had a yeild of 50 megatons. And the smaller ship based ones like the graftons is around 6453 tons of tnt.
If some particularly enterprising tech priest got their hands on a slipspace drive chaos is a goner, even if it was 10 times slower the imperium would give everyone in the UNSC a planet just to get a propulsion system that doesn't go through hell.
The UNSC wouldn't give them the latest model but the ones headed for the scrap yard otherwise that are still in working condition just slightly outdated could 100% be sold to the Imperium. But I am not sure they would take the planets in exchange first. Because they don't have the numbers to really settle them. But perhaps Vitae-Womb technology would be a first acquisition for them in trade. Because they need to get those population numbers up.
They have about 800 worlds and about 100 worlds worth of population due to filthy Xenos invading them and murdering their civilians. While using copies of their ancestral technology.
So xenos stole archotechnology and used it against the UNSC. This is why they hate Xenos.
10 years is a blink of the eye on the time scale of Warhammer 40k.
That is true in both universes. However the part of UNSC history covered in the games is just 30 years of history of a race that's history goes back millennia's before even the Emperor of Mankind was born. The Ancestors of what is now called the UNSC rose to to preeminence in the Milky Way galaxy by approximately 150,000 BCE. Having first achieved interstellar travel over a million years earlier and colonized planets across the Orion Arm toward the galactic border, humans became a major political and military power rivaling the Forerunners; indeed, the Didact considered them the second greatest military power and the latest challenge to Forerunner influence.
In case no one explained it before this what the Imperium would designate near human Abhuman race was reset back to the stone ages after their war with the Forerunners and the Flood at the same time. They basically got the WW2 Germany treatment with a war on two fronts. Then the Halo Array got fired sending everyone back to the stone ages after reseeding their population.
So they are actually ancient as far as their history goes. They once rivaled the Forerunners at one point and got hit by a double sided war and basically got reduced to the stone ages and had to rebuild from there. So yeah the short clip of what we have gotten to see is just a scratch of the surface of their long ass history as a species.

I dunnoh if Commissar Cain has a guaranteed win against Master Chief.
Sure, he has some insane plot armor.
But if Ork belief could give Yarrick a laser eye, something tells me that when Orky boys start hearing about a super strong fearless humy covered head to toe in green, Master Chief would start getting some of that plot armor boost, and start doing suplexes against Titans.
Probably and it probably wouldn't help that the UNSC has the capability to mass produce Spartans. And that they are likely to target Orkz and Tyranids because well Orkz are everywhere and Tyranids remind them of the Flood they fought millennia ago.
Oh and the UNSC does actually have the capacity to produce something akin to a Titan if they wanted too. They already produce 9 meters or 29.5 ft tall mechs that operate via a neural link similar to titans. So they have the capacity to produce far better weapons and equipment than they are shown to have in their own universe. Oh and Commissar Cain hitting Master Chief would be a problem. Because to normal humie Master Chief and Spartans in general appear like a blur of motion. It would be like trying to hit a Space Marine. Which Spartans are literally a knock off of the same concept as Space Marines.
The realization that Master Chief is covered head to toe in green, and battling the Orks. . . Would make them think that he’s the next best humie, next to. . . Yarrick. . . *Sniff.*
@csmrookie9600 Yep and then the see more Humies in different colored armors some of them also green.
I, of course, left a comment on that very video about the UNCS using 762 rounds, not 556.
I too would slam dunk into some Elitussy if it is as he described it.
Interestingly enough, the UNSC as a nomadic fleet-based faction would arguably be one of the best factions against the Tyranids. By far the most powerful tool in the Tyranid arsenal is the Shadow in the Warp because of how devastating it is to both communication and effective travel/retreat. The psychic effects on the UNSC soldiers would be no worse than it is for the Imperium, but unlike the Imperium, the UNSC could just choose to bugger off entirely. Slipspace ain't the warp, so the UNSC, could potentially just jump in, throw around a bunch of nukes and MAC blasts, piss off and then come back and do it again.
Hell, this could be how they ensure their survival in the galaxy. They develop and then leverage their unique ability to fight the Tyranid fleets with minor casualties to either slow down oncoming hive fleets or to disrupt Tyranid planetary assaults. Not many are gonna be stupid enough to turn down a massive fleet that are the only ones who can safely and reliably reinforce a Tyranid-attacked planet.
I do wonder though, with the Imperium’s ability to create self sustaining structures, much of the Imperium could potentially turtle in Slip space and simply wait out the Tyranids, which would also solve the Chaos problem.
Id love to see some fanfic stories of this lol

Yeah , yeah the Australian is still kicking in the UNSC.
You know...I can see a story of a UNSC arriving in 30K. One that arrives, discovers a galaxy of eternal war and eldritch horror, fights like legends reborn into end times to preserve what they hold dear, but ultimately becoming defiant, melancholy wanderers in heir vast city ships and fleets. Horrified at literal hell broken loose, and equally so very disappointed at what humanity has become.
The Emperor, I think, would only be able to weep as the Ancients picked up what they could save and disappeared into slipspace. He'd blame himself. I think even the Eldar would stand aside.
Your underestimating the UNSC . Which is likely due to the fact that the games don't actually show what the UNSC is actually capable of . Especially technologically speaking.
Oh and as to eldritch horror well have you seen the Flood /Precursor. Because the Flood is inspired by Christopher Rowley's The Vang. Which is a horror series. The Precursor form in Halo is directly inspired by the Eddorians in E.E. Smith's Lensmen series, the psychic creatures in John Brunner's THE ATLANTIC ABOMINATION novel and Cthulhu as well as other deities in H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos.
So yeah the Halo universe itself is actually a horror story where the "good guys" have absolutely no problem blowing up planets. Or even nuking their own planets. So they are already in a horror story.
Also read the Forerunner series of Halo books because the Flood are actually worse than the Tyranids.
As to the Chaos Gods. Their nothing compared to the Precursor. The UNSC already exist in a universe where the Gods want to consume all life and start all over again.
Would they be very disappointed in what has become of humanity since they likely went into Cryo status or dormant for 38,000 years for whatever reason. Yeah probably. But they would also probably try to help out where possible.
Also it's kind of hard to become a defiant , melancholy fleet based civilization when your already there. Now they would need to scale up their ships to be proper size which isn't the sizes the creators of Halo list them as. Which in and of itself make no sense because the scaling is off as in the ships are too small in the lore for them to be functional. So they have to be scaled up because if you scale down the fighters and bombers no one above 3ft tall would be able to fit in them. Here's a video on that subject ... ua-cam.com/video/CH1STi9thUc/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
These ships are intended to carry everything for invaision of a planet and sustained actions behind enemy lines for years without resupply.
Post war UNSC is just a stronger Tau honestly with some tech that surpasses the Necrons, if they can survive for even 100 years then not even war in heaven Necrons and Eldar combined would be able to stop a single UNSC fleet or ground force due to the sheer tech advantage they would have keep in mind by this point UNSC would be ancient human level physically who would be more comparable to Big E himself when it comes to physical power along with unlocking Neural physics which at the ancient humans level is basically take a war in heaven C’tan and Old One now combine them and you have one ancient human with full potential of their neural physics ability. All the exaggerations he made about Cortana are absolutely true about Durandal because Bungie back in the day knew how to write awesome sci-fi
Everything he said about Cortana's capabilities is lore friendly for Halo because she was designed to hack into anything and also to learn from every interaction with whatever systems try to stop here. She captured and dissected a Covenant AI . That's how she learn't that she could divide herself into multiple bodies so to speak and attack multiple targets at once.
So yeah Halo took inspiration for a lot of sources. She's literally the Halo version of Durandal. Marathon is Halo's less popular big brother. So of course they took elements from Marathon and put them in Halo.
A point not properly expounded: the unsc uses 7.62x51, not 7.62x39. The difference being that every marine is carrying the equivalent of a m240, not an ak.
I wonder just how serious the buff to the Imperium would be if they took over the UNSC? Just from the new models of weapons they would get access to, as well as whatever they could upgrade from each other’s arsenals. The whole issue with the Spartan 2s is that they need genetically superior humans to handle the training and augments. With the Imperium’s cloning tech, just imagine an unending horde of Kriegers with tech and training that puts them on par with Space Marines. That’s a fighting force that’s too effective, they’ll basically just be upgraded Thunder Warriors that outperform space marines and regular humans to the point that the galaxy is nothing but Spartan Kriegers.
Thats interesting . But also fun fact given the tech the UNSC has they would already be augmenting all of their troops to the Spartan 4 level which is the newest generation then have to start handing out copied Forerunner tech like it's candy to their troops. I mean imagine IF the UNSC starts using the nomad approach to explore and the galaxy and you have a planet being attacked by say Orkz. The UNSC gets the call and makes a deal with the planetary governor that they will assist for a price and then shortly after the deal is struck a regiment of 7ft tall super humans come down from the sky in power armor welding weapons with an orange glowing barrel and bayonet and you start seeing Orkz getting vaporized by these weapons like the Necrons just showed up. The fear and shock value of that would make them legends to the locals of the sector.
And almost as quick as they arrived to save your ass they take their payment and leave. This could be in resources or technology or even food if they so choose.
In any case they don't stick around . Of course these would be the elite veterans not some rookies being dropped in to the fight. But to the average civilian or PDF or even Guardsmen they would look like Astartes in strange armor. And praise of course would go to the God -Emperor that these strangers decided to help. But yeah the UNSC is likely to do several things from the beginning of their time in this shit storm of a universe. At least if the goal is survival.

“Lot of stilization and moaning about the greater the greater good” huh…sounds like the imperium just replace the greater good with religious stuff about the Big E
You're assuming ONI wouldn't have made fifteen thousand different contingency plans to screw them over if they tried. ONI doesn't trust anyone, they made the Storm Covenant just to fuck over the Elites who were their sworn allies. That, and the UNSC aren't stupid. The Tau are just allies of convenience as far as the UNSC is concerned, they already have plenty of modern comforts so there's not a lot the Tau can promise outside of tech and an alliance.

On the part of astartes vs Spartans pancreas went overboard saying a single spartan can take multiple Astartes .although the average spartan would give the average first born a really good fight but would lose to the average primaris whom is stronger , faster , taller and has more enhancements than the first born with better weapons and gear
To be fair primaris did nothing but die since their creation so they wouldn't be much of an issue. Some chaos bullshit will take them out before a Spartan and a Primaris had a chance to square.
Physical strength matters in Close Quarters. Speed also requires then being close enough and actually show themselves.
Being larger just make them bigger targets for heavy weapons.
The Average Spartan sniper can out shoot a Vendicare Assassin.
So Primaris Marine deploys, Spartan Sniper sitting 5 miles away takes aim and squeezes the trigger and Boom Primaris Marines head explodes .

We see Spartans with Forerunner weapons on the battlefield more often. The Tau are definitely the best ally for the UNSC. If the UNSC could befriend a Rogue Trader that's the best scenario.
Being friendly with a Rogue Trader would be easier than the UNSC military getting past the urge to shoot the Tau in the face. Also the UNSC has the technology they lack numbers. It's a rather simple fix for them . The first is the bandage solution of making Spartan IV augmentations mandatory for all personal for the time being in order to have each of their soldiers equal entire armies of normal troops. Step 2 is breeding like rabbits to get those numbers up and using their technology to create lab grown children as well. Building their numbers up as quickly as possible because their going to need them.
@@John2r1they doesn’t even need numbers just improve genetic tech if they unlock neural physics by reversing their devolution then 40K would lose to a single full potential UNSC Spartan
@@ChangerofWays-Tzeentch Oh they need the numbers built back up. As to reversing their Devolution to be back on par with the Forerunners again. Turning their military into Spartans is a step in that direction.
"Your mistake is seeing Spartans as military hardware. My Spartans are humanity's next step, our destiny as a species. Do not underestimate them. But most of all, do not underestimate... him." Dr Halsey, Halo 4 Prologue.
So yeah Spartans are their future. Or at least a stepping stone in that direction.
So they will need to do both and find all of their ancient tech to get back to where they were pre- devolution. Oh and they never really used Neural Physics for really anything outside of building some constructs on Precursor structures such as what they had on their capital world prior to getting WW2 Germany slapped by the Flood and Forerunners at the same time.
Hahaha The Idea that the UNSC is larger than the Tau Empire.
In terms of territory it's larger than the Tau. In terms of population well that depends on what is being taken as canon because different sources say different things.
In total the UNSC has 800 colonies remember . And the Tau are estimated to have some where between 150 to 300 worlds maximum. So in terms of sheer scale the UNSC is larger than the Tau Empire. So not really a laughing thing when it is a correct statement when considering the UNSC in it's entirety. Not that the fact that they have a whole lot of TLC work to do to restore 78 planets we know of out of the 800 colonies Which depending on the year they are pulling them from could have already been done.
But I would still say the UNSC population needs to increase massively to actually defend their territory properly. Not that a few billion newly created Spartan IVs wouldn't be useful if they are smart when placed into 40k knowing they have a lack of numbers for the scale of their empire. Everything about the UNSC's survival in 40k depends on them making intelligent decisions with their military and technology available to include the examples of Covenant , Ancient Human and Forerunner technologies they have collected and been reverse engineering with a lot of help from their Huragok aka Engineer pets they picked up along the way.
Territory doesn't mean much if they can't defend all of it.
@@John2r1 The furthest UEG colony is 80 light years away from Earth, while The Empire is 300 light years across and the term colony in Halo doesn't has to mean a planet, we have seen examples of of colonies being just a few hundred people on an asteroid, We could also raise the amount of Tau colonies to thousands if we started to include orbital habitats, bases on moons and asteroids.
@@nobleman9393 Um no it's not. Despite its relative scale, humanity's empire takes up only a minuscule portion of the Milky Way galaxy itself, all human-colonized systems existing within a bubble of 100 light-years around Sol in contrast to the overall scale of the galaxy which is 100,000 light-years in diameter.
The Cygnus system is situated more than 93 light years from Earth. It has 3 habitable planets two of which are colonized by humanity. So yeah no the furthest colony isn't 80 light years from UEG earth. This is the furthest named colonies.
So the furthest is actually 100 Light Years away from Earth. But of course not all UNSC colonies are named in the lore. Just like with the Covenant. It appears that the writers haven't gotten that far yet. Probably because Halo hasn't been around since the late 1980s unlike 40k.
Also the Tau Empire is composed of over twenty fully-developed septs and around one hundred settled worlds, but the exact number and most of their names are unknown to the Imperium.
So no they aren't even close to being larger than the UNSC in terms of actual colonies. The fact that the Warp is unreliable at best and can spit them out wherever and if they happen to find a planet that doesn't have a hostile population they like to stick their flag on doesn't mean much. The UNSC has more fully developed colonies than the Tau has.
The Tau has around 20 sept worlds which are their fully developed worlds . The UNSC has 210 fully developed inner colonies including their home world. And though a number needs some TLC after their last war, 590 outer colonies for a total of 800 though the lore states that they have more than 800 colonies.
Oh and the UNSC doesn't include every asteroid and moon with a few hundred people as colonies. The Rubble which is what your referring to is actually not a colony. The asteroids that made up the Rubble were first colonized by several groups of humans, primarily insurrectionists, sympathizers, or surviving colonists from the human colony world Madrigal. When the Covenant attacked Madrigal, the planet's rebels and insurrectionists gathered up the colonists and evacuated them with freighters and cargo ships. The insurrectionists brought the refugees to the Lagrangian asteroid cluster trailing Hesiod and the Rubble was established. Most of the refugees accepted insurgent ideologies and lifestyles, since they believed it was because of the insurrectionists that they survived.
So that's not a colony. Just so you know. Oh and the UNSC had a habit of building military bases in asteroids. Which also doesn't count as colonies. It seems the minimum required population is 10,000 residents to be considered a colony. There are also quite a few worlds the UNSC has that they don't consider colonies that are kept secret from the public records. The primary training for Spartan IVs takes place on a top-secret space station orbiting an unidentified dwarf planet. Which is also kept secret for example.
And of course there are various UNSC colonies that make Imperial worlds like Savlar look like a vacation. Such as the inner colony located on Titan. Which the UNSC turned into an industral world. Yeah because liquid methane rain and other toxic chemicals plus average temperature of about −179.2 °C or -290.6°F and an atmosphere of 95% nitrogen, 5% Methane with trace amounts of other carbon-rich compounds, creating a dense, hazy atmosphere due to the presence of organic molecules formed from the breakdown of methane by sunlight; essentially, the main components are nitrogen (N2) and methane (CH4).
Which means they had to bring and produce their own oxygen. So the UNSC has more colonies overall.
So trying to buff up the Tau which don't even have half the number of colonies as the UNSC. Is kind a nah. The UNSC has more colonies therefore more resources available. It's that simple. Also the Tau do count every single mining colony and asteroid with a few dozen of their population on it as a colony. Only 90 of the Tau's worlds are actually named.
175 out of 800 UNSC colonies are mentioned by name at this time. All of which are actual worlds or moons with populations of 10,000 plus people. So in sheer freaking number of worlds the UNSC is larger. Now get over that little factor.
@@John2r1 The term Developed in Halo and 40k aren't the same, The Sept World in pretty much a Tau version of the Hive World and one of the septs has pretty interesting statements about it,
"The worlds of the Sa'cea Sept boast interconnected dome cities and agriplexes that cover almost the entire surface. Beneath these foundations are sprawling Earth Caste facilities while its once inhospitable desserts now teem with trillions of lives." - 9th edition Tau Empire Codex
That's their version of Reach.
"human-controlled space encompassed around 800 colonized sites, including planets, moons, asteroids and various other outposts. The colonies ranged from heavily-populated and economically, politically and strategically significant worlds to struggling pioneer outposts which could barely sustain 10,000 colonists" - Halo Encyclopedia.
By this standards Tau Orbital habitats also count as colonies, not to mention that the statement about 120 worlds was made during the democles crusade 300 years ago. (Plus Auxilary species)
"Also the Tau do count every single mining colony and asteroid with a few dozen of their population on it as a colony"
They speak directly and clearly about Worlds, not colonies.
The Tau have larger territory, bigger industry, bigger military and have whole species working for them.
@@nobleman9393 First thing Sept worlds include the Gai'kal Sept's Prime World which has a population of 5.7 Billion. That's not even close to a Hive world in population. Also the planets with higher populations are former Imperial Hive Worlds. How easy do you think it would be for ONI to insight rebellion in those worlds ?
Think about it. On top of that Halo's Earth alone had a population of 7.9 Billion at the end of the war. Reach had a population of over 700 million before the war. Harvest had a population of 3 million as an agri world. Sigma Octanus IV 17 million. The planets for which we have populations for are either in the millions or billions.
Now as an example of an untouched human colony for which we don't have the population given to us which appears in the books .. Gao . Was colonized in 2439 it is now 2560. That is 121 years . We have our time frame . We also know the initial population 10,000 without factoring in any migration after the colony was established. 10,000 over 121 year at lets say a growth rate of 2% per year. We get a population of 11,664,000,000,000 or in words that's eleven trillion six hundred sixty-four billion . Now natural death rate at 0.8 % or 93312000000 deaths per population over time gives a population for untouched UNSC worlds that we don't have numbers in the lore of 1,073,088,000,000 or in words one trillion seventy-three billion eighty-eight million for colonies that have been around 121 years and are untouched by the war. That is at the modern average of 2% growth rate over time and the modern death rate for 1,000 people.
So yeah the UNSC population is much larger when you do the math than what some people have estimated it at . At least when you use an actual population growth calculator and a percentage calculator and look up the death rate per 1000 people which today is 7.9 per 1000 people which is actually 0.79% of 1000 I rounded up to 0.8 % then used the population calculated by a population calculator links will be below and subtracted the deaths from the population given by the calculator. That's how i came up with the number for Geo's population.
Now rather or not a decent portion of this population was drafted is unknown so this is the numbers without accounting for the military draft as well. Because we do not know how many total troops were drafted from each planet in the UNSC during the War as neither Bungie or 343 Industries have ever given solid numbers for the military sizes of either side of the war.
calculator.academy/population-growth-calculator/

Also it appears that General Black in the Forward unto Dawn short film might have been correct when he said the following quote...
" The insurrectionists say that the people of one planet owe nothing to the people of another planet. The insurrectionists say the Earth is in the past, and the past is dead. Well, not so long ago, all of humanity lived on a single planet. Hard to imagine isn't it? But try to think of what it must have been like to be a human back then - to know only one world. Each and every one of us here contributes to the health and well-being of a Unified Earth Government. How is that fair? 'Why should I give anything to Earth if I don't even live there?' Well, without us, without the UNSC, colonies starve, planets die. And for what? Now, the insurrectionists, they say they'd rather risk the lives of millions of colonists than do their duty to ensure the continued survival of the trillions of humans spread throughout this galaxy. But not me. No. Me, I say we're all in this together."
So yeah the UNSC has a massive population pre war and still has a fairly large but relitively spread out population post war. Because as we both know the Covenant didn't get around to wiping out the populations of every single UNSC /UEG world. And were more focused on their religious artifacts than wiping out humanity. We humans were just kind of the irritating hairless apes in their way as far as they were concerned
Ahaha. The UNSC and realariens would roll them hem runder
Yes the UNSC the just got started rebuilding after being reset back to the freaking stone ages after millennia's of being the second power in the universe , second only to the Forerunners . Read the books for reference . But they were at one point technological rivals to the Forerunners. And now have some amount of ancient tech form both the Forerunners and their direct ancestors . Notice I said some this includes weapons , tech and some minor vehicles and a ship or two. Not exactly back to their height. But their building back to that point.
So yeah the post getting their ass kicked and devolved back to a primitive caveman . They got the WW2 Germany treatment between the Flood at a much higher level than in the games and the Forerunners at their height. So war in heaven basically and they were the technological monkey in the middle. So for a species that got knocked back to caveman twice the second time being the Halo Array activation. They have done pretty damn well since they got back into space in less than a millennia. Despite being as likely to kill each other as they are other species since they are effectively us in the future.
@@John2r1 yep, and that’s what made us so good, our willingness to fight, and how often we do, engaging in insane arms races and ever escalating wars against ourselves…who do the same thing. So we are always fighting the best/craziest, fanatical enemy that will do any and all things to win, and the fact we will steal and modify anything we can, with zero hesitation. Also S-2’s are no joke. Most people’s only interactions with that is the game, they don’t know they can see in the dark. Hear as good/better that any or most animals. Have reaction times faster than anything know and still recorded in our history, tougher and faster. Far stronger. Then given the best power armor we can make at the time, due to fuckery. Which still allows them to go hand to hand with hunters, and win…at times. Let alone elites and brutes. Even at first contact with them, they win more times than not. Because they are flat better, faster, or just as fast, protected enough, but out think and outperform in most ways, even if not in pure strength, except elites. Dead even match physically essentially. But S-II’s tear through elites like they are nothing. Well once they go Mjonliner and the version with shields. Which the S-II’s stole from jackals, and we revered engineered. Like a handful of Spartans, and not even John/blue team, have stopped full up covenant invasions on their own, let alone with space support, ODST’s and marines/army support. People are always like oh 40k, durr, we always win. Yeah not against S-II’s you don’t, as even if physically outmatched by some/the best. Space “marines” they won’t be beaten mentally. Also won’t surrender. And will only think and try harder. And they can actually think, and will use any technology or tactic that wins. And come up something based on what they are facing. And god forbid you give them AI’s let alone John and Cortana. You’re done son, John would be the new emperor while he’s still in his prime. After a century or two. Of direct combat, killing trillions at once like he has, wiping out entire major fleets. Above sector levels, etc. and guess what, he’s a human, lol. So is the USNC. All fully human. No sorry xenos. They beat, and slaughter xenos. Who try to murder them for false religious reasons.
@Plastikdoom Um neither Spartans nor Space Marines are a joke. Their actually rather similar physically speaking.
That said the most dangerous thing on a battlefield is a wounded Spartan in close quarters. Because that thermonuclear bomb powered by a small star that powers his armor will vaporize anything in the general area. And Spartans are psychological prepared to use it. They can also use their armor to compensate for injuries . A Spartan can be hit by plasma fire that manages to penatrate their armor have the muscle in an leg or arm completely burnt through and still keep fighting by adjusting the internal artificial muscles to compensate allowing them to keep moving without using the destroyed muscle. Chief did this when his quadriceps was burnt through by a lucky shot.
The shooter wasn't so lucky as chief killed it. The book doesn't go into details but it's safe to say chief probably ripped its spine out for the insult.
But still physically they are comparable.
As to Chief becoming the Emperor. No he wouldn't because he doesn't have that kind of ambition.
Against the entire imperium? Nah
@tariqjohns5078 They likely wouldn't fight the Imperium. Hell, the Imperium likely won't notice them for hundreds to thousands of years. Due to everything going on that rank higher than some 800 colonies of some abhuman empire that pops up on like the Eastren Fringe.
If Gulliman can manage it, he might just make a treaty that turns the UNSC into a buffer state against the Tau if possible.
The UEG government is just as corrupt as the Imperiums governments. So the right amount of money or resources to the right people gets the Imperium a buffer state. They can deal with later. The freedom of religion factor also gives the Imperial Cult a good chance to come in and convert the people.
Once the Imperium has the people religiously and the politicians in their pocket . The UEG is now Imperial. And the UNSC goes with the politicians.
A lot of 40k fans forget that while the UNSC is the military and capable of building up enough firepower to deal with whoever tries attacking them.
The Imperium are humans. Sure the UNSC would likely call them imperials. As a distinction between them and the Imperium. But being human makes infiltrated and cultural exchange between them easier. Thus ending with the UNSC/UEG being part of the Imperium just like the Squats are part of the Imperium but treated as mostly Independent. In the old lore.
Kiafys Kane or however it's spelled can't beat chief imo like that's literally no contest

I do think perhaps Pancreas is ignoring the Imperium's counter-intelligence, infiltration and assassination capabilities. You can't just go propagandize Imperial worlds and NOT expect Inquisitorial agents, spies, assassins or whatnot won't be drawn to you.

The problem is that ONI operates at such a level that if they're discovered by that 1% group there's good odds ONI knows they know and already have a plan to keep them from sounding the alarm until it is too late. And that's if they don't want to just kill the poor bastard who found out, if they do then it will probably look like an accident and no one will _ever_ know the truth.
By the way, I love both of halo and Warhammer, and even though a average life of a Warhammer imperial citizen is fuck walkie ducky I would to say the average life for a unsc civilian is even more of a shit storm, because at the main like imperial citizen, has literally the entire imperial guide space marines the imperial Navy, and because the imperial of man is so militarized like at least, the imperial citizen has a measure of protection, even if it usually fails 90% of the time at least have something unsc civilian in like one of the cities like the covenant just tap on the door and the whole thing is literally Dante in for now, so I know you say the unsc civilians in halo live even more life of abject horror but just a thought of mine. I thought that would be funny to post see what people thought.
ciaphus cain would get molly whopped by chief depending on the canon u use, bungie canon has him literally a God meanwhile 343 canon just has him as an above average spartan jack of all trades (boring)
Both are equally canon because 343 Industries didn't want to rock the boat. Kind of like that dumbass tv show is not canon because all of the fans when at them about it . And they made the very smart choice to make it non canon and place it in the "sliver timeline " which is not considered canon by anyone.
All UNSC forces in 40k would need Mech’s just to compete. They would need anti physic tech. Then a lot of RAD away from Vault Tech. Then make every round a nuclear weapon from bullets to tank ammo. Beaming tech from Star Trek and a giant Mobil space station that has star gate ZPMs running everything the Asgard. Gave humanity. Then void shields with star fleet backups. Oh and toast buster proton beers to capture prisoners and traps to hold them and the containment grid. Oh USNC FTL with Star Trek warp backups. No need to travel in the chaos
The UNSC has mechs , The fact that they have no connection to the Warp makes it more difficult for Psykers to attack them. If nothing else ONI is very good at kidnapping children and turning them into loyal soldiers of the UNSC. Kidnaps a couple million Psychic Blanks as children and presto anti psyker soldiers. Who don't even remember that they are Imperials. Remember Halo is much more grim dark than Star Wars. As to RAD away . You do realize thats just medical grade Prussian blue in an IV form. They already have that. The UNSC is so advanced in the medical field that a ships med bay can cure cancer.
Oh and they also have energy shield tech to include energy barriers that are used in prison cells, their most recent thing has been bolting on Forerunner tech to their ships including a slipspace drive which makes their ships faster than they were at the beginning of the Human Covenant War. So they got basically all of that cover. Plus a Nova Bomb is a much better weapon than building a giant ass mobil space station.
Nova Bombs do to planets what the Death Star's giant laser does to planets only the Nova Bomb takes out the planet , moon and anything close enough to get hit by the pieces. And is the size of 9 nuclear warheads taped together . So can fit on their stealth ships as well thus is easily deployed without anyone knowing until the planet goes boom.

40:12 is exactly why the UNSC hate Xeno's . And would rather they not exist . Getting past the Tau themselves being blue humanoid Xeno's is one thing. The other Tau empire species would do well to avoid being within 300 meters of the nearest UNSC Marine , Army Soldier ,ODST or the nearest Spartan. Because all of those personnel are trigger happy and just waiting for any excuse to shoot them.
They might tolerate the Tau. For the time being.
Humans with auto-guns, doesn't seem extraordinary for the Tau.
@@nobleman9393 Humans with railguns sniper rifles with an effective range of 4.9 miles and the capability to pierce armored vehicle's, tanks , buildings , etc and still turn a Tau Fire Caste Warrior into a splatter of blood and meaty bits.

And can run up to 60 plus mph , punch hard enough to destroy titanium armored plating and are capable of flipping a 66 metric tons tank while wearing this armor.
Because ONI and the UNSC are not likely to be dumb enough to not augment even standard Marines with the same augmentations as Spartan IVs given the factor of their numerical disadvantage compared to most factions.
So picture a Tau Fire Caste Warrior looking at a Spartan in armor because much like with other societies such as the Vikings first contact is likely to be with the military which as per usual are generally larger and stronger than your average civilian. The fact the UNSC has the technology to augment their entire military and produce MJOLNIR Gen 3 Armor.
Your average Tau is not going to know anything but these people are giants in power armor with a decent level of technology. Not necessarily that much better but decent none the less.
That's something you keep failling to remember. The Tau isn't meeting the Civilians in first contact. Their meeting the military. And even when the leadership get to meet civilian leadership the military is going to be surrounding them and ready to kill everyone that isn't human in the room at the drop of a hat. These military personnel likely being actual Spartans not the augmented Marines. Not that they would know the difference. Since the difference becomes the extra training. Kind of what's the difference between an Infantryman and a Green Beret .
Answer Training and further education.
@@John2r1 And how is this any different from what they see, meet and fight normally?
@@nobleman9393 It's not really that different except in sheer numbers of superhuman soldiers. The Imperium has roughly a million Space Marines. If the UNSC/ ONI does the smart thing and augments their military presonnel with the augmentations of Spartan IVs then the Tau are looking at something along the lines of 2 to 4.5 Billion superhuman soldiers at present levels of estimated population for the UNSC.
Second with regards to the Spartans guarding important leaders you do recall the fact that the UNSC/ONI have spent years looting Forerunner technogies and reverse engineering it. The Spartans would be the ones with the glowing weapons that fire hardlight encased antimatter. Though yes the most common weapons of the Marines and Army is the MA5 series of assault rifle , M395 DMR , BR85 battle rifle , M45 shotgun and M20 SMGs. What they have in common is that all of them accept Kentic Bolt attachments.
The augmentations gives them the capablility to use weapons such as the ARC-920 railguns, Hydra MLRS systems basically a proto bolter, and the ability to use turrets taken off their mounts to including M68 Gauss cannons or the newer M70 Gauss cannons like they are heavy squad weapons.
Because there's nothing like a giant man or women in power armor with a 25x130mm coilgun capable of firing rounds at around Mach 40 to say don't screw with them.
The obviouse objective of the use of augmented super soldiers is intimidation as the Tau don't know how many of these super humans they have.
Oh and IF ONI were to be so nice to give up some of their toys to be produced by anyone outside of ONI they could be armed with hard sound rifles. Which have a respectable effective range of 915 meters or 1,000 yards and doesn't care what armor your wearing it's a one hit kill via obliterating internal organs. This would actually be the impressive part aside from personal energy shields and deployable hardlight shields among other tech used by the UNSC.
Most of the Marines aren't going to be much more than a hmm they're very large and strong and decently armed . The Spartans are the wtf is that glowing weapon thingy.
So while the UNSC intends to project strength which they would given the number of super humans they would have. The Tau would be more interested than intimidated until the Spartans actually show up then well when you have a unit of 7 to 8ft tall super humans with helmets that have a skull etched into it carrying large knives and weapons that can disintegrate an Ork or a Tyranid . You obviously don't want to pick that fight.
Note how I gave the Spartans the Forerunner small arms . Because they are trained with them as part of that extra training they go through. Marines aren't Spartans regardless of their augmentations and use of power armor.
@@John2r1 After decades the UNSC still only has hundreds of Spartans, while 1500 were made in total, so any reason to believe they can just make billions of them whenever they feel like it?
(And since the UEG fell apart, it doesn't seem like they will be making any new Spartans)
The Tau have mass produced Ion Rifles and hand held railguns.
Pretty sure the Hard sound rifle is useless against targets who have even basic armor, hence why it was used only in assasinations of politicians and civilians and never on a battlefield.(Btw fire warriors do have deployable shields and those aren't relics, they just make them in their factories)
They pick fights with Astartes, they sometimes lose, but also sometimes win.
