I'm team underhand and I admire overhand so much i find it cool because I can't do it. Underhand has always been second nature for me!! Nice work hun🙌🏾👌🏾💖
I do underhand. I tried your way and ohhh my goodness.... I will keep trying because I like to learn and know different techniques. Thanks for being an inspiration!
I am team both! I start my braid overhand (just to secure the braiding hair), then I flip to underhand to complete the braid. Super hard to explain. I'm a self-taught braider also. Since 1993. 🤫
thanks for all the tips...im team under hand i rarely know anyone who plait overhanded its challenging and uncomfortable for me but good on you for learning underhand when it was uncomfortable for you at first🤗🤗🤗
Your videos are so detailed. I really enjoyed the entire video. I can only braid underhand I pretty much taught myself before social media days. I struggle with the other techniques and all just braiding hair with extensions in general. But when I did a bob style it came out better than individuals. I never thought to use a flat iron I used a lighter and you’re right my fingers were on burning and it took me forever to get the melted braid off of my fingers. Your techniques are needed and very much helpful and soooo detailed. Thank you for all that you do
This is a lovely channel. I would like to add, for those with long hair but would also like bob, there is a technique I grew up calling (Ghana) zip. This zip starts at the top of the braid and it helps shorten the length of the hair ( without cutting it) and it is also used on short hair for added security.
I am both under hand and the other but one challenge is when u get used to one, it takes some time to adjust comfortably to the other. Thks for this informative video
Hey Vandy! I cut my locs off last December and decided to grow it out long enough to braid in some extensions. It's taken me about 4 months of actively *not* cutting it 🤣 and your videos have come in so handy! Xx
EEEK!!! THIS IS THE VIDEO I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!!! Oooohhhh im so excited!!!! Thank you so much! I love love love your channel! You give so much insight that I can't find anywhere else on youtube!!! Team underhand!!!
Ive always been a overhand braider too 😭😭and i was so confused at first on how the underhand braiders would braid and😪 i could never achieve certain looks or make them look as good a them and it was soooo frustrating 😭😭 but once i understood how to braid under it changed my life 🙌🏾
I am just like you 😂 .. feed in braids frustrate me so much my poor baby is so patient with me. Her hair is long and she's 8 going on 9 her school has pajama days, and grade colors and hair is easier, or so I thought; smh. Until it wasn't, I'm now playing with colored waxes, different ebin braiding gels synthetic and human Hair. Pray for me 😂 seriously, it's hard to do 2 girls and myself weekly or even monthly. You help me so much, thank you! ❤🎉❤
Yessss Vandy!! We need a video on your look in this video 😍😍😍😍😍 I’ve been trying to learn underhand since I took my knotless class and whew it’s a struggle I found the stand at my hair store but it’s only 60 stools, I’m still searching for that 120 one
Brooke Long Braids are attached to the head and plaits are only attached at the root. When braiding over hand with braids it creates a French braid. It appears seamless because the braiding structure is nestled inside because the three strands of hair is crossing upwards then under. Braiding underhand is the opposite. The three strands are crossing underneath each other to create a cornrow. The braids will sit-up since the gathered hair is underneath. Plait is what’s being shown on the video. When plaiting underhand, the three strands is crossing underneath each other. The tension of braiding underhand will cause the braids to bend forming a ‘C’..The open end of the ‘C’ should bend around the head of the client creating a natural bend to the hair. Plaiting overhand will do the opposite. I hope this helps.
@@MzTeeL best explanation I could have asked for! In that case, I braid underhand. Everything I know about braiding is from wonderful people like you on UA-cam lol
I love you first off...I'm a new subbie. But being a natural under hand braider I was so confused lol but like I said it's just bc like you said it's hard to put in to words. I am also self taught but hairdressing and cutting runs in my family and we are also musicians and drawers. I guess we are just kinda good with our hands. Anyways you are an awesome teacher and even I know a lot of this you are so interesting that I can't stop watching. Keep up the awesome work you are doing.
Thank you for all the tips !! Sooo helpful! I have been looking for something like the brown thing in the background to hold my sectioned hair. Do you mind if I ask what it’s called? Is it a thread board?
Yes! I taught myself and everyone tells me i braid over.?? I think? They said I braid opposite of most ppl so idk..but i can not do it the other way! Ugh
Im.both I've learned how to braid early on as a child to braid both ways. Now im struggling with this knotless braid because its just to me seems the knot is still there its just under or in the middle so what I've discovered is start the braid off and do a feed in affect therefore its knotless but I still want to learn the knotless way also.
I think so. If I understand correctly, Braiding in would be equal to overhand (because your hand is over the braid) and braiding out is the same as underhand (hand under the braid).
This is an amazing tutorial. She isn’t talking unnecessarily swallowing and smacking. I enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Wow im so glad i came across this video! No more burnt fingers!!! Thank u lord
As an underhand braided I’m envious of overhand braiders 😩🥺
Same! 😭😭😭😭
Thank you for all the examples, and your desire to perfect shows in your work 4real💯❤️

You can fold the hair for those that have long hair

Team both! Have to admit underhand took me a while to learn!

Amazon has them and Michael craft store
I’m a little confused about what is braiding overhand vs underhand. Can you explain to me cuz I don’t know which I am

I just got my own Sheila! It’s on! 😁
I braid underhand, but from watching braid school videos I'm learning to braid over hand.

What is that thing to your right where you have all the braiding hair separated?
Team underhand🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Wow I love this
Love ur work and I have learned a lot. I’m team over hand. But I have learned to be both
Great work!
Good on you teaching yourself something so much different than your norm❤️🌹
Team both ❤
Team UNDERHAND💜💜 I can't overhand braid for life of me🤦
This is a great video. Thank you
How well would these techniques work with straight fine hair???
Thank you for all the tips !! Sooo helpful! I have been looking for something like the brown thing in the background to hold my sectioned hair. Do you mind if I ask what it’s called? Is it a thread board?
Yes it is. Thread holder.
@@AD-ye6mw thank you so much Queen 👸🏽

Team underhand in the building 😘
Beautiful i love this class of how to braids hair thank you
Under hand team❤
I'm team both but your videos are great
I see that the kiss nail glue melt the hair so you can put it at the end of the braids after cutting it and do a palm roll
Can bob braids have feathered ends? So without the curve.
That's a style I'm going to experiment with. I've only seen it on braided wigs.
I’m team over hand 🖐
Team Both.....but I prefer underhand for adult styles & over hand for children. 💜
Hi what kind of braid you would recommend to use to plot a natural 4/c hair
Hi this is so helpful for me. I wanted to ask if the titanium flat iron will work for the “burn” as opposed to the ceramic?
If you don't have a temperature reading on your flat iron, test it out on a sample braid before you get started. The temperature is what's important.
I think under hand braids are easer for left handed braiders because it is more natural for us
I'm left handed and prefer underhand braiding! You may be on to something.
Well hmm. I think I'm probably underhanded because your explaining made me go, i braid that way all the time and i still can't hide hair.😊
I'm team underhand .thanks for the tips
Team ambidextrous 🤩
