My man, you should do scp 1000! I believe it's a VERY interesting take on a very popular mythological creature that just about everyone knows about!
Fairies in the folklore were basically lovecraftian abominations before we used the term lovecraftian abominations. As someone else has said in these comments, Disney and other more recent depictions have essentially bastardized the concept of fairies. In the original folklore they had incredibly varied forms and personalties (goblins in the original folklore were a type of wicked fairy for example).
Also, A LOT of the properties of SCP-4000 are related in some way to pre-existing fairy folklore.
The insane amount of rules and etiquette you have to follow to not get f***ed over by this SCP? Probably based on how there is a lot of etiquette you have to follow during an encounter with fairies in folklore.
Also, while it is not as harsh and difficult to deal with in the original folklore, giving your name to fairies is a big no-no even in the actual folklore. Names have power in older legends of fairies just as names have power to the fairies in the SCP universe.
Bottom line is: fairies are not just a bunch of silly tiny winged human-like creatures as disney would have you believe. In the original folklore, fairies were often alien-minded menaces to mortals, with equally as alien forms that varies between different types of fairy.
Even the world eldritch comes from the fae
Anyone thats played heard or listened to any sci fi with horror mixed in, knows that a guy laughing as he/ she is killed, they found a way around death. Through an elderitch, warp or basic revive spell or soul transference, or an ai copy embedded in anothers brain to imprint their mind onto another (the joker in batman beyond) they aint out of their fight yet.

Y'know, when I first heard of this SCP, I could just "feel" something awaken in myself. A deep burning feeling that rattled my bones, and I didn't know what it was. But now, I think I realize that it's my ancestry: my celtic blood calling to me. And now I know what it's been trying to say:

The Alice in Wonderland comparison is apt. The Fae (Faerie/Fairies) are a fascinating subject and I think represent magical thinking and dream logic. Whoever wrote SCP-4000 really understood the source material.

Yes, these fairies are not the happy little disney ones. These are proper "The Warp Daemons are very carefully shutting the fuck up in sheer panic" old-school fae. Names have power. Lots, and lots of power. All those old fairy tales? Yeaaaaaah, that level of 'OH FUCK ME'. But don't start repeating that. That gives them names. Yup. You are experiencing the horror of that place. Get used to it. Bones from the eye-sockets is one of the least unpleasant ones. Hint: Think for a second. A certain... switching of descriptors. Boy, it'd really suck if, say... Desk-Desk ended up taking the place of Harold...
yeah. this extradimensional space makes for extremely weird and odd body and conceptual horror as the potential for jackass genie-ery takes place.
They're not Disney's "Tinkerbell" type of fairies. They're Gaelic folklore fairies. (Before anyone brings it up, yes, I know the play predates the Disney version. But the Disney cartoon is many people's first experience of the story, and their Tinkerbell is a little toned-down anyway.)
Why? Because... the Fae. The Fae are just fucking weird my dude, they are always weird, on that you can rely.

Why do you hate the 40k true name thing? I don’t see anything particularly wrong with it.
Because it's used very poorly in 40k. It makes some sense for daemons to be bound by the true name clause because they are essentially figments of imagination come to life, and the true name clause has power because many superstitious cultures have adopted the belief that such things are true, but the issue is that true name itself is poorly defined, with how and why a true name is assigned being the most contentious subjects, especially in 40k. For instance, there is an occasion where a daemon masquerading as a Space Marine of the Thousand Sons uses the true name clause against a member of the Adeptus Custodes by calling out his name, but when he tries the same trick against a Space Wolf, it doesn't work because he mistakenly called him 'Bear' instead of 'Bjorn' because the Hidden One spy who told the daemon Bjorn's name had a problem with the psycho-conditioning that allowed to understand and speak Fenrisian without realizing what he was actually saying or hearing, so he only knew that Bjorn's name meant 'bear' and not that his name was actually Bjorn. But this begs the question as to how a given name assigned by ignorant humand can be considered a true name. In another curious instance, a daemon chooses to masquerade as the deceased Tarik Torgaeddon, and it is referred to as 'Tarik He Who Is Now Torgaeddon', and this somehow counts as a true name for the purposes of rituals involving the daemon and the original Tarik. This is because multiple writers have worked on the Horus Heresy, and some of them handle it more competently than others.
Yeah, this is just some Tzeentch bullshit.
