I have the SS-6 stands and I'm absolutely delighted with 'em! They're a bit of a HiFI classic, as Solidsteel are offering these for about 30 years now! I'm using the stands with some modest Dali Oberon 1's (the stands cost even more than the speakers!) and a Rega IO amp and the SS-6 seems to bring out the best out of the little Dali Oberons. I filled the 3 legs with shelves/bird sand (available at most petshops). It's a bit fiddly as it needs to go through the tiny holes for the spikes, but it's absolutely worthwile doing it!
wish someone could show the process of filling em :D hah. a tip or two could be handy as well.. for instance, how much of iron powder should I get and how to ease the process.
waiting for my ss-6 to arrive soon.
Great stands
Got this finish in the SS6
Love these!!!!
That kitchen is looking good. I want to do that to my rental.
Floors, new door are coming this month. Still waiting on the counter tops.
@@JilesMcCoy are you installing them you’re self? I’ve done doors and Laminated vinyl flooring.
4:19 to see the stands
Aren’t they awesome!
Very cool looking...👍
Thanks 👍
What would you recommend using to keep the speakers in place on the stands, I’m getting some monitor audio gold 100
I went for the Pangea DS400’s on sale for $200!
Filled with sand, sand awesome!!
Thats cool!
Pretty cool
Love these!
What's the size of the bolt for the top plate? I'd love to attach a Genelec stand plate, but not sure if will fit. Cheers.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this video. I am buying a pair of these. Did you say they come with two top plates? I saw a comment about the front legs being shorter and angled more vertically. Is there a risk of them tipping forward with the speakers? Thanks
Hi! They only come with the 1 top plate. Its not super huge. The front legs are pretty vertical but Ive not experienced any potential tipping issues. These are my favorite stands by a LONG way!
@@JilesMcCoy thanks for the reply. I see that your stand finishing is raw. I am undecided between black and raw. Does the raw come with clear coat paint? Or is it unpainted? Thanks
@@supabayes3284 It has clear coat. Black and Raw are my favs!
@@supabayes3284 It has a clear on it. Its great!
@@JilesMcCoy thanks. I am going for the black.
Way to costly, but if you have some money to throw around they look cool.
They do look cool!
I know my limited hands on with Italian-made stuff doesn't mean everything Italian's the same. But 2 things. 1. WOW quality. 2. WOW price. I own a bunch of Marcato pasta making gear. It was a good 3-4x as much as the non Italian made brands. But it feels like it will last forever. The weightiness is very noticeable and the craftsmanship is impressive. They don't mess around when they make something over there.
It's really a shame no company has made a knock off of these. I know plenty of other tripod looking stands for bookshelf speakers exist, but every single one of them looks terrible.
I'm getting Polk Reserves R200's in September, I'd love to get these too, but the top plates look like they'd be might be on the small side for speakers that chonky. But then again these aren't meant for R200s, who buys stands that cost almost as much as the speakers? lol
The top plates are small, but you can use earthquake putty for some extra grip.
Can speakers be attached to them? Seems like a decent speaker can easily be knocked over
You can use earthquake putty.
So expensive but the top plate looks tiny. Why didn't you show them with some speakers sitting on them?
Its literally the thumbnail ;-)
@@JilesMcCoy Yes the clickbait thumbnail with two badly photoshopped black boxes completely covering the stands (which we both know aren't SolidSteel SS-7), showing a scene which conveniently never appears in the video.
Admitting your content is poor is the first step to rectifying its shortcomings.
@@pkd.81 So, if they arent SS-7.. then what are they exactly? And the black boxes are canva'd in there quite nicely.
Look like barstools with missing seat.
I dont suggest sitting on them.
Keep the spikes away from children and animals lmao
And the spheres.
$700 for 2 barstools? Nuh.
You claim these are the best speaker stands in the world before you've even opened the box?
I had inside information!
Nothing about how to mount speakers? What type, brand will fit them? Why would you spend that type of money on stands that may not fit or secure your speakers to them? What am I missing?
The speakers mount like any speaker would mount to any speaker stand. Its a flat surface. And this is designed for stand mount speakers. Bookshelf speakers. Recommendations are: ° SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE, BOOKSHELF/MONITOR LOUDSPEAKERS;
° KEF R3® BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS;
° KEF LS50® BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS AND SIMILARS;
° B&W 803 D3® BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS;
° BRIGADIER MU2® BOOKSHELF SPEAKERS;
° BBC LS3/5A MONITOR SPEAKERS AND SIMILARS;
° BBC LS5/9 MONITOR SPEAKERS AND SIMILARS;
The top plate is about 6.3 x 6.3 inches. Hope this helps.
Seriously, after all that you don’t even show them with the speakers on them? Fail.
You have to watch the other videos for that.
Over priced and the top plate is too small!
I think you can get a larger top plate? Its worked great for all the stand mounts I've thrown at it so far.
A little too steep in the price for me. Though they do look stellar!
First
Well done!
Overpriced
