Ill never forget when i first heard this. I must have been about 10 yrs old, at this point id never played metroid but i wanted to and samus was my favorite in smash. I remember i went to go buy a game and my mother saw the rating, i had to explain to her there are no people that you kill in it and thank god the clerk backed me up! One of the best games ever made. This opening really captured exactly what i thought about samus: badass. Just got my gamecube working again, and i cant wait to play it again!
I remember waiting to play this game because of the rating lol. When I finally did I was sorry I hadn't played it sooner. One of the things I love so much about the prime games is that they're technically fps games but officially classified as FPA (first person adventure) and it really comes across that way. One of the unspoken rules of this series seems to be to never kill humans and that makes much more accessible (in a typical nintendo fashion) while still allowing for an amazing game.
Hope you get a chance to play Remastered soon. My first Metroid game in earnest was Samus Returns on 3DS, never finished it, and I just played through all of the Prime remaster with nearly 20 hours and 85% completion... I think I'm hooked :)
This intro was amazing for me the first time I played this game, please note this was in around 2007 or 2008. The way it was executed, along with this tune was just purely awesome. What a way to start a game.
Space, its mysterious presence overwhelms the universe.. It presents itself vast and eternal while evil dwells in each and every corner...... Then 0:49 comes in and you realize that evil will exterminated by someone looking for justice.... Samus Aran. And her jump sequence, what an epic way to start a game, seriously.
I remember playing this game for the first time...what a way to open. This was before the whole "stumbling on a destroyed spaceship full of bodies" was such a trope...
back in 2001-3 when it first released on the cube, I was blown away and got shivers, then again in the trilogy in 2008-9, still got shivers. now, in 2021. I still get shivers. it's so epic. And the sequence of Samus exiting the ship and doing that spin-jump is just amazing. Still.
Ten years ago, below the surface of Planet Zebes, the mercenaries known as Space Pirates were defeated by interstellar bounty hunter Samus Aran. Descending to the very core of the Pirate stronghold, Samus exterminated the energy-based parasites called Metroids, and defeated Mother Brain, the leader of the Pirate Horde. But the Space Pirates were far from finished. Several Pirate research vessels were orbiting Zebes while Samus fought on the surface below. After the fall of Mother Brain, the ships escaped, with the hopes of finding enough resources to rebuild their forces, and take their revenge. After discovering a possible Pirate colony on planet Tallon IV, Samus has again prepared for war, hoping to end the Pirate threat forever
@@Hadfield15 you'd be correct, but op's comment was going to be the prologue for metroid prime before they cut it for - to my knowledge - unknown reasons.
Smash Bros for the N64 introduced the concept of Samus as a character to me, but Prime was my first true Metroid game and the one that got me into the series. This intro alone instantly made Samus one of my all time favorite characters in fiction.
We are in 2002... Players have waited for 8 years for the new entry in the Metroid series, the last game being Super Metroid in 1994. Given the context, this song is the perfect way for the return of Samus.
Also Jennifer Hale is the voice of Samus in the prime games, she also did the narration which was cut from the game but here is the video link to it. m.ua-cam.com/video/xG4ei3it8B0/v-deo.html
There are like... 3 very brief and quiet/subtle notes of this that always remind me of Deoxys' battle theme. Fitting considering Metroid and Deoxys are space themed.
I like to picture this theme coming from the pirates perspective, almost like the survivors inside are putting out a distress call. Pirate Officer: "Orpheon to base, send assistance. The Phazon experiments have gone out of control. Please help us." *Silence* Pirate Private: "I think we're on our own sir. . . Wait, incoming vessel. Pirate Officer looks at the camera. "No, not her. This can't be." Private: "Who is it sir?" Officer: "The one who killed Captain Kraid, the warrior who mangled General Ridley, the beast who destroyed Mother Brain. We have no hopes of surviving against. . . Samus Aran."
A bounty hunter responds to a distress beacon from an unknown vessel, aboard that ship, our bounty hunter, the rugged and sly samus aran loses all upgrades previously collected power suit upgrades, and following her arch enemy, the space pirate ridley, she would then fight a new menace to the galacy
We going BEYOND with this one 🥶🥶🔥🔥🔥
Still get shivers from this theme.

What a true masterpiece.... I still play the trilogy to this day.

It's not the same without the "arriving" jingle at the end...

Eh, it's kinda mid in the prime games I think

I think it was only a year between Zero Mission and Prime

@@TetraGalaxyTelecast Ah, very well. Thank you for that tidbit
0:50 will always be the best part ;)
And her jumping sequence.... Flawless.
James Smelser AGREEEEEED!
And at that point people knew… all their fears about Metroid become a FPS game were no longer warranted. Now that’s how you set atmosphere in a game.
The best game of all time.
Damn straight :)
Yup

Metroid prime 4 just got announced and i had to come back here to listen to this to remember how lit life is going to be.
that announcement meant nothing lol
2020 3 years on no news.
Someday my friend.. Prime 4 is still coming
One eternity later...
depression sinks in
Ok, when you saw the opening pan for the first time, who else got the exact same chills as from the SM64 and ocarina of time opening pans?
0:49 ship landing epicness
0:00-0:17 those are some nice contemplating sounds, but the 0:50 part will always be the best, always
This game gave us what no movie, book, or dream could ever..
They need to use this music in the proper re-reveal of Prime 4 whenever that happens.
The beginning of a gaming trilogy like no other
00:51-01:40, so epic!!!!!

ALL HAIL KENJI YAMAMOTO< THE BEST COMPOSER NINTENDO WILL EVER HAVE!!!!
Now.. a new story will be written in Metroid prime 4. The light of Samus Aran never die
one of the most simply best tracks of the series and of video games if only more to it
Walking into the first day of class like 0:49
Matthew Bergdorf lmao that's good
A mix of this had better play when Samus finally reappears in Prime 4
20 years later and listen to this intro in the remaster for Nintendo Switch

The SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
This sounds like you’re walking to the final boss, not just starting the game. That just goes to show how insane of a game this is.
0:50 Possibly one of the most unforgiving sounds I've heard in Si-Fi and it's from a Nintendo Game.

Man the part from Super Metroid at the end is just so good.
FINALY I HAVE FOUND IT THE THEME I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR SO DANG LONG!!!!!!!!!>:D!!!!!!!!!!!
This song makes me feel so much joy. The boom is so good!
This song still goes hard in 2022
Metroid Prime is Epic!!
when i first heard this i was happy to play a new metroid adventure!
have anyone noticed that the theme at 0:50 is basically super metroid theme?
Even to this day this theme always reduces me to tears of joy. 😭
i would love to be able play the game as i was playing it for first time

No other song in the series tops nostalgia more than this one.....
0:51 Super Metroid theme.
Ah yes. The theme of samus aran, a great song in any metroid rendition
There are like... 3 very brief and quiet/subtle notes of this that always remind me of Deoxys' battle theme.

0:50 - sweet remix of Super Metroid intro music (:
00:51 Super Metroid
0:49 The best part

According to Pirate Lore, she's known as The Hunter.
Best intro ever alongside with Super Metroid
*When you are the only hope of all existence*
Belleza
Thott this was unreal music at first

The way her ship gleams when it comes into view.
