I loved the storytelling in this game. You read the lore and think the Great Poison is the acid water all over Chozo Ruins, but when you defeat Flaaghra, there's still more story. Then you start learning about Phazon and realize that IT is the Great Poison.
Which reminds me that in Phantasy Star Online you learn that the responsible of the mutation of the native animals is from a massive arthropod before you notice that in fact the origin of the great change on the planet is actually deeper than that (this came out two years before Metroid Prime btw).
I hate the fact that it was called "the great poison" because when getting the artifact of newborn i thought it was the actual tunnel with poison in phazon mines
I love how it combines the main theme (because it's he final boss AND a Metroid) with the Phazon ambience (because it's the source of all Phazon on the planet).
What I love about this track is that at 1:03 the music sounds like it's "singing in a question mark" if that makes sense. It's like the music is going "You may not actually get out of here alive this time..."

That sense of uncertainty is created by a tritone (playing E over Bb flat... very dissonant), the chords moving up chromatically by a single note (Eb5/Bb to Bb dim7 to Bb5 to Gb/Bb) and that low synth playing a descending melody with some chromaticism (half step intervals played in sequence). Basically, this theme is playing all the most dissonant note intervals to represent the tension and madness unfolding in this battle.
I still remember the adrinaline rush. And I'm pretty shure this music played a great roll in delivering the adrinaline. Man that thing was pretty hard, not in a sense that it had 50billion HP like some RPG's. But that U had to use skill and timing and allmost all the equipment you aquiered to beat it. When i listen to this song it makes me fell a little sad because i miss the good old days. I remember first seeing this when my dad play was escaping the pirate space frigate but not knowing what this game was at the time. When i got a bit older, i played the game myself and realized that i saw my dad played this a long time back. I had an absolute blast with the game but got stuck at the artifact quest because i didn't realize i had to get them into the end of the game. Now since i know where they are i can't this game relatively easily. I have beaten the game over 6 times at this point and i am still having a good time. Right now i am trying to learn how to do the super hard cliches in the game (ice beam early is impossible). I hope retro can deliver on metroid prime 4 because i have extremely hight expectations for it.
Lmao I had the same experience but it was with Metroid Prime 3. I saw my dad boot up the game and walk around the GFS Olympus but I didn't know what the game was at the time. Like 5 years later I got the trilogy and the games are so good, I think I have played each one like 3 times at this point. I hope Metroid Prime 4 can live up to our expectations 😎🙏
This thing had an insane evolution path- started out as just some regular metroid before getting mutated into a goliath spider thing and then eventually mutating into some hellish doppleganger of the main protagonist that then fuses with a huge organic super computer brain creature. The thing was nearly as resilient as Samus herself even...
This phase of the fight is much more manageable, true that you have to get into a pool of phazon and fire your weapon at it and it becomes invisible, causing you to change visors but that's what makes it more fun
Reminds me a little of "Paranoia" from the original "Dance Dance Revolution". Very evocative of early 2000s. Only noticed it because I wasn't running for my life and juggling beams and visors this time!

Until I enter the pool and hit him with the phazon beam before it dissipated, I was like "alright you're on!" Then he spawns Metroids, I'm like ugh -_- My brother is like "dude you're holding your own than some kids."
Kondo slaps, but the guy who composed the Prime soundtrack is Kenji Yamamoto... Incredibile talent! Also, I remember to have heard lots of 808s sounds in F-zero GX as well (another stellar soundtrack of the GameCube era).
With the Wave Beam, Samus's arm cannon becomes wider horizontally. With the Ice Beam, it gets wider vertically. With the Plasma Beam, it gets longer. In the areas exposed by the cannon expanding, you can also see a purple glow, frost, and what looks like lava, respectively. With the Phazon Beam, it does all of these things at once, taking on an open, larger configuration that shows the blue Phazon flowing through.
Metroid Prime is not as hard as you think. Especially on Normal. I have to say though, the emulator one was harder, but I used the mouse to fire and jump so..less stress. He is invulnerable to all of your weaponry except the Phazon Beam. When he spawns a Phazon Pool he renders himself completely invisible to you. (Your previous visor, and your radar if you noticed.) OK, now what? simply switch to your next visor, and forget scan. Unless you want 100% complete with a good Elapsed Time. His attacks and movements are easy to follow so don't make this fight harder than it needs to be. (Same goes for every boss fight.) Don't bother shooting at him normally. Keep your distance, and avoid his attacks until he spawns a Phazon Pool. He's vulnerable to them so use 'em up to damage him. Well, if you're not close to one, you'll get there faster if you Boost Ball to it. Keep an eye on the Metroids though so move fast. You can Phazon Beam the Metroids in short bursts to conserve Phazon and fire the rest of it at Prime. You shouldn't though because you'd rather release it all on him. The trick with the Phazon Beam is that its damage depends on which Beam Weapon you're using. If I'm using the Power Beam while firing the Phazon Beam, it will take out not even a quarter of his health on Hard mode. Have the Plasma Beam equipped, and you're guaranteed to knockout a good chunk of his health bar. On hard mode it's a good amount. Actually using the Ice Beam with the Phazon Beam takes out a bit more health than the Plasma Beam equipped, but either one will get the job done fast. If you want a challenge, try using the Power Beam without resorting to Plasma or Ice Beam and letting Prime quake the Metroids to death...literally. If they prove to be a real nuisance though, just lure them all together and lay a Power Bomb to destroy them all. Use them wisely though because on hard it takes 2 to kill them.
yea. we actually had to engage in that one. I used to be able to dodge his barrage of light beams with the Screw Attack, but when I did it, my health took a nose dive.

Even in hypermode, his second phase is very easy, but that isn't necessary bad. If you made the first phase with 2 energy tank st least, you'll win no problem. I just win against the boss for the first time in hypermode recently, I did it second try, and I had only 1 energy tank after the first phase. I had to concentrate, but I made it even with so less energy. But it took me around 20 min lol.

It's mainly just there to serve the same purpose as the Mother Brain 2nd phase in Super and the Omega Metroid in Fusion, to simply end the game in a climactic way, the fights beforehand are intended to be the actual challenges.
@@Leee275 If a climactic end means waiting for around a minite if dodging its incredibly twlegraphed only attack sometimes on the eye hurting infrared visor, until it spawns a phazon pool for you to attack it for a bit its not really that well done in my opinion

What you’re referring to is a minor chord. When a bit of a song is played in minor and not major like that, it gives that vibe
